We came to this brouhaus without a reservation during the day on a Saturday and were able to find a table to sit for three people without having to wait. We found all of the traditional regional dishes that were in our list. I experimented and had some of the sandwich with raw pork and also the dish with black pudding. I’d recommend you try these local foods if you are an adventurous eater. The overall vibe of the place was casual and despite its location it seemed like mostly locals went there.

I got into Cologne late from London and was hungry looking for a place to eat. This place was perfect it was a 10 min walk from the hotel behind the cathedral. The place stays open til midnight which is great. My waiter was super nice and attentive. The food and service were both fast. I got of course to start beer (what else!?), some bread and cheese to start then got the schnitzel OMG so good! It came smothered in mushrooms. The food came out piping hot. The ambiance was so great and festive. Definitely come back again. They spoke English and took cards. What I find interesting is that the beer comes in a slightly larger version of a shot glass for cheap and then they keep track on how many you drink by marking your beer coaster.

Brauhaus FRÜH am Dom serves a variety of German dishes. We ordered three different dishes to share all of which were very tasty. The service was quite fast and even though we didn’t make a reservation we were seated promptly. Our favorite dish was the mix of meats with sauerkraut!

Our first stop was Früh. We were seated right away and we sat in the room called the Sauna, we soon understood why it was called that. Anyways I ordered a Kolsch beer, they serve it in 200 ml and they just keep it rolling until you put a coaster to tell them to stop. We ordered the Himmel un Ääd which is Heaven and Earth; fried black pudidng with potato-apple mash and fried onions. We also ordered the Schweinehaxe and this is grilled knuckle of pork with fried potatoes. I enjoyed both dishes, they were definitely different from anything I have eaten in the past. Our server was extremely attentive, I have been to the other big restaurants in the city but this one by far had the best service. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone stopping in Köln.

Made it here on the Saturday evening of Karneval in November 2023, one of the few places that while crowded, was actually accessible. The bartender was nice enough to let me have several glasses by the bar since everywhere else was full. There was live music outside in the plaza with an outdoor bar. Inside was rocking, as well, and I was one of the few people not wearing a costume. Kölsch is pretty standard, although a bit sharper and drier than other versions in the city. €9.20 for four 0.2l pours, not bad in late 2023 during a big festival. Certainly not the best in Köln but does the trick.

Food was reheated not freshly made and the service wasn’t polite. Light good typical beer at a good price. Recommend going for a drink not to eat.

Feel like traveling back in time in a traditional German brewery. I loved the decorations and atmosphere there. The waiters are nice and very dynamic, they speak English and the menu is in English. The food menu is simple but full of traditional German dishes which matches the place. The pub itself is huge so it's unlikely you cannot find a place to enjoy a Halver Hahn with a Kolsch beer. Nice place to stop during your trip

Came here for a small dinner. Very lively place with lots of rooms with seating. We were able to find seats in the cellar. Despite it being busy, our waiter was quick and attentive. The typical Kölsch beer is served in 0.2 l glasses, so it’s easy to drink one and order more. A couple of the larger tables around us ordered a mini keg of 10 l to share with the group. Food was good. A very nice and cool German beer hall.

Went with locals. Great recommendation. They bring you a new beer glass unless you put a coaster on top of your glass. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Ordered meat with creamy mushrooms but in the menu it came with chips, I asked if I could have mash potatoes instead and absolutely no problem. So nice food! Only 1 option for white and red wine, but everyone drinks beer so can’t complain.

Fruh - Cologne We went for dinner here. Being the Christmas season, the place was packed with happy customers. The staff are amazing. So quick and cheerful. Our dinner was served quickly. Servings are generous and something to please everyone.

Nice Brauhaus in Cologne. Good beer and Wiener schnitzels. Düring the Weihnachtsmarkten very busy but especially after seven there are places available. No reservations on Friday and Saturday (I thought).

WARNING!! Advice. The worst. Fraud. Give me back my money. This restaurant is making fun of Asians. The waiter is a man of medium height in his glasses. I don't know the name, but there is a video of him. There is also a receipt. The waiter tipped the bill without permission. He didn't show us the statement and demanded payment by card. He is a swindler who hides his details before payment. When I ask for a statement, the tip is already included. Expensive tips over 10%. The service of this restaurant is not good. Despite the minimum service, he charged more than 15% of the chip. Is that a service? Did you just carry the food? It's better for foreigners not to go here. If they know people from a country that doesn't have a tip culture, they are deceiving money with this kind of trick. The meat is smelly and hard. I started to hate Germany. The worst experience in Germany. If there is no expensive tip, the service and food are ordinary restaurants. Give me back the money. P.S. I’m never ever gonna visit your restaurant. I will not get anything good if I send a message. My payment will not back. That’s why I won’t send a mail to you.

This is highly recommended for people who want to try traditional german vibes. The servies was excellent and they were really nice. You can't speak German, no problem, they can also speak English. The food was delicious. I didn't like the cheese dish personally. It was a bit too cheesy, but don't take my word for it if you like cheese. The pork bone dish was really delicious, I personally recommend this dish if you like meat. The third dish is just between these dishes, I had no complaints and not necessarily any compliments for it. (All dishes can be seen in the pictures) If you like the beer, I would recommend there home made beer. It's smooth and delicious. I myself, as a non beer lover, even liked it. Overall, it's a big recommendation.

Absolutely amazing. You can get lost here on a busy night but it's worth it. The locals are always looking for a good time and new people to talk to. It has staying for 1600 so if you're meeting someone, be prepared. There are rooms hidden in rooms. It's breathtaking and unlike anything you can find in America. It's on my list of places to go back to. Kolsch is the beer of Cologne. It's served ice cold in about very small glasses. Every sip is a delicious reward.

Famous and popular local Brewhouse pub in the city centre of Cologne, close to the impressive Cologne Cathedral. The pub has an old and well established reputation and is very popular with locals and visitors alike. The staff is attentive, friendly and courteous. The food is good, and has a good local dish selection. Certainly a place worthwhile to visit for a nice meal, or simply for a pause and a glass of beer, wine, softdrinks or sweets.

Great place for beer and food - just a few steps from the Dom but still reasonably priced and tasty. We tried the herring in cream and potatoes (good!) and other dishes, all were satisfactory. Service was friendly. Recommended!

Really nice traditional German restaurant in the heart of Koln. Amazing beer in small glass the keep bringing until you put the paper on top of the glass to inform them you can’t drink no more. Nice Wiener schnitzel! Real good salad! Only bad thing was that the service was a bit slow at the end. ( We waited about 20 minutes to pay).

This is one of the most popular places in Cologne, and usually food is average when a place is that popular or touristic. This is not the case in Fruh! Food is amazing, service and atmosphere are even more. Don’t get lost between the many doors when you first come infront of this grandiose address, go in any door that opens! I went in very early afternoon so finding a table was super easy. The magical basement was not open yet, but I do recommend going there if it is. The place is huge and the vibe is very authentic. After seating, you immediately get offered fresh FRUH beer, which is very nice, and then can get to ordering. English menu was available. I got the mixed starter, the mixed meat dish and the sausage which all tasted great. They serve a nice cute pot of mustard for your meal. Definitely a place to recommend if you want to experience the traditional German brahaus. Not to miss!

It’s a very nice designed place near Dom. You can feel authentic german vibe here. The food was good, the park tendorloin has a very sweet souce, so if you are not fan of meat with sweet, I don’t recommend. In rest it’s a nice place, the serving is fast, and the bear can be seved in small glasses, you probably will order few.

Some say a must visit when you visit Cologne, the atmosphere in these beer halls is cozy, warm. Feast like a real German, eat nice food and drink beer. The food taste great and the alcohol free beer is probably one of the best I had.

The best restaurant in Cologne, my wife and I ate the Himmel un Ääd and Rheinischer Sauerbraten, its a local dish that you can only find in Cologne. We had a great time because of our server Herr Salameh, he’s the one who recommended what to eat, the best server and very friendly. PS the beer TASTES SUPERB!!

Waiters are very cheeky, part of the experience. If you try to speak German instead of going straight to English, they'll be much nicer to you 😉 beer was spot on, and their Halver Hahn was brilliant.

Over 100 years Pub! 🍖🍖 Another old pub close to cologne cathedral. Pork knuckle🍖 The skin wasn't as crispy as the Gaffel am Dom, but I prefer this seasoning, not too salty and greasy, still delicious! The sausage was tasty and had a good texture💕 The marinated beef with potato dumplings was amazing and interesting!!! The dark sauce was sweet and went well with Apple puree, and the yellow ball called potato dumplings was very interesting texture, a bit sticky, chewy and soft. But it went well with beef and apple puree! The beer was great🍺🍺🍺 Overall, the staff were friendly, and the food was good and not too heavy and salty. I prefer this one better than Gaffel am Dom 😆😆😆 Should book a table at least 2 weeks before!

Very crowded for a Tuesday night. My herring was drowning in cream sauce when a drizzle would have been adequate. Jaeger schnitzel was good. House beer was tasty but not effective. Dry white wine was good. Restrooms were clean.

The Eisbein and Hexe were super delicious! It was not easy to find a place during peak hours, and it was very crowded and noisy here, but if you like atmosphere like a pub, it's not a issue. Food and beer is absolutely recommended, and the service speed was also very fast.

It's a huge restaurant, and always a full-house but service is super efficient. The food is delicious and substantial proportion. Pork knuckle meat was soft and tender yet the skin perfectly crunchy. The sausage was very yummy too. (Though probably can't have it everyday.)

I would have given a higher rating if not for the very and I mean very rude lady sitting by what seems to be a ticketing booth by the right-side entrance. We were visiting the cathedral when it suddenly rained so we took shelter in the nearest restaurant we could find which was this. I entered and asked the lady inside that booth if they had a table as we did not make a reservation. She said go and find one. Fine by me, it seemed to be a busy restaurant. A family was about to leave so I asked them if they would mind me standing by next to the table just to secure it when they leave. They gladly agreed. All this time, my family, my husband and her mother with our 2 children (2 year old boy and a 5 month old baby) were just outside. They came in and this rude lady suddenly just stormed into our table and said this is not a place for two buggies, this is a small place go to the other section and find another table. As if I did not go there already to look for one. I understand her concern but not her rudeness and her attitude. I do not know what's her deal but someone ought to please let her know that with that behaviour she is better off not being in the service industry. Anyway, I folded the buggies and decided to stay as we barely had any more options as it was raining and my son was hungry. The food was great and the waiting staff friendly. It's just a shame our experience and night was ruined by this lady.

It’s popular but it wasn’t my favorite There was no seats outside at 5 so I went inside. There were no ac so I was sweating like I was on a treadmill. Thats why I didn’t gain any weight while eating this huge pork. Plus, the food was so salty I couldn’t finished it

Suggested by a colleague, I ordered Pork Knuckle and also the Normal Beer, Radler Beer, it was so Good! Pork Knuckle: German Portion, so it was Big. Outer layer are perfectly crispy, the inner meat is very tender Radler Beer & Normal Beer: I am not the expert in beer, but this beer was so smoothhh, fits well for light and easy drinks and its a great thing to see that they came in those barrel and each glass comes fresh directly from the barrels. The service is not the fastest, but they are overwhelmed with orders, so be sure to wait patiently. The location is also hard to miss, it was close to the cologne cathedral, be sure to drop by if you ever got the chance to visit Cologne.

Went there to try the famous Apfelstrudel, the portion was so huge and so delicious 😋 I also drank a hot chocolate which was good. The place is so huge, a real maze, it was thus a bit difficult to order because the waiter never came to my place but very nice waiter

Reeeally nice spot to have lunch in the centre of Cologne. This is what you should try in Germany. I recommend the Codillo and macarrones. One rude waiter outside, but the rest super nice and helpful. I will come back!

Tried Mett for the first time. It was good. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't extra special. The beer was very good. Service is about what you get in the area.
