Google maps is incorrect listing this as a "Catholic Church". According to their website at (), its called "Antoniterkirche" and became the first Protestant church in Cologne in 1805. One way or the other, it's a beautiful stone church with interesting doors that is situated directly opposite a very modern glass structure. We didn't go inside because it was Sunday and there was a service in progress.

A beautiful old church right by Schildegasse, the shopping district. Has a lot of fine details and architecture, albeit not being the largest church in Cologne.

Very open and modern community. The church lies in the heart of the city and is really a sight even for tourists. There's a cafe in the yard. Don't miss it!

AKA Church of St Anthony. Lovely church I found in the shopping district. During WWII the church sustained severe damage. I enjoyed the different stain glass they have compared to others. It was installed in 1966 and the designer was Alois Plum. The baptismal dates to the 12th century. They did save the chior window from 1520. Stop by worth it.

Newly renovated little church in the middle of the pedestrian zone. Was lucky to walk past on the last Sunday of the month, when they have an eucumenical evening prayer at 18:00. Beautiful music and good fellowship. Well worth checking out if you happen to be around for it. Everything seems to be in German though.

(Translated by Google) The relatively small, today Protestant Antoniterkirche in Cologne's city center is one of my absolute favorite places in Cologne. Built in the Gothic style as a mendicant church of the Catholic Antonite Order (construction period from 1350 to 1370/1378), handed over during the French occupation (1802) in the course of religious freedom Protestant leadership, heavily damaged in the Second World War and yet "resurrected" from rubble and lovingly restored. "Der Schwebende" by Ernst Barlach - originally melted down by the Nazis as "degenerate art" - reminds us of the remembrance of two world wars. Against forgetting. In its simplicity, honesty and political and historical consciousness, the Antonite Church is a place of tranquility, inner contemplation and contemplation - a worthwhile and worthwhile counterpoint to the lively consumerism on the adjacent Schildergasse.

(Translated by Google) A very lively community that Pastor Herzberg holds together with incredible empathy. New forms of worship (for example, some great jazz jazz services that are really worth picking up and lingering for a long time ...), commemoration of the unconscious, a veritable manifesto in our fast-paced egocentric today ... Not to mention the attachment of the Antoniter City parish to the LGBTIQ community! In short, exemplary pastoral, social work of heart, which is lived here. Thanks for that!

In 'Only the Longest Threads', Tasneem Zehra Husain explains in clear and simple prose the major breakthroughs in Physics, starting with Isaac Newton and his concept of universal gravitation, and continuing with James Clerk Maxwell and on past Albert Einstein to the present time. Since Einstein's monumental achievements, the search for understanding of the universe has required increasing collaboration, culminating in the many thousands of scientists now involved with the colossal proton splitter many miles under the Swiss French border. This growing complexity has made it more and more difficult for the interested layperson to understand what is going on. Husain's extraordinarily effective solution is to tell each story through the eyes of an imagined contemporary observer, thus conveying the excitement and wonder that came with each new understanding of our physical world. The book is grounded in deep research of place and period, and distinguished by straightforward style and clear insights. Bro Bro Bro Bro

(Translated by Google) Antoniterkirche is a Gothic church in the center of Cologne. Its central location on Schildergasse shopping street makes it the most visited church in the city after the cathedral. At national level, known as a place of Antoniterkirche was the political night prayer and by it suspended in the work of art the floating of Ernst Barlach. Antoniterkirche has also been a member of the Nagelkreuzgemeinschaft since 2016, as well as the baptism of resistance fighter Freya von Moltke.

(Translated by Google) A cast of Ernst Barlach's famous floating angel can be seen in the Antonite Church next to the cathedral in Güstrow. The original would be destroyed as degenerate art. Since the plaster mold was preserved, the copies could be made. The interior has been beautifully restored and invites you to pause.
