The
hostel
entrance
was
a
little
confusing
to
find
as
it's
also
the
entrance
to
a
car
park.
The
entrance
is
located
between
the
entrance
and
exit
of
the
Rewe
supermarket,
and
if
you
look
up,
you'll
see
the
hostel
sign.
There’s
also
a
regular
group
of
hobo
who
sit
just
outside
the
exit
of
the
supermarket,
but
they’re
mostly
harmless.
I'd
already
booked
and
arrived
late,
so
check
in
was
straightforward.
The
staff
were
friendly,
efficient
and
explained
the
rules.
The
dorm
room
had
three
bunk
bed,
arrayed
against
the
walls
with
a
large
area
in
the
middle,
lockers
for
each
against
the
wall
and
a
table
with
four
chairs.
The
lockers
are
tall
and
narrow
and
wide
enough
to
accommodate
a
medium
sized
bag,
but
probably
not
a
large
backpack.
The
locker
was
also
provided
with
coat
hangers
and
tall
enough
to
hang
even
a
long
coat.
The
bunk
beds
were
already
set
up
with
clean
sheets
and
one
towel
is
provided
for
the
entire
stay.
The
pillow
was
a
bit
odd,
more
like
a
1m
by
1m
square.
I
just
folded
it
to
make
a
traditional
pillow.
The
mattress
was
softer
than
I'd
prefer
and
I
could
feel
the
occasional
spring,
though
I
slept
fine
throughout
the
stay.
None
of
the
beds
had
private
electricity
sockets
or
lights.
The
sockets
were
spread
out
across
the
room
and
when
the
dorm
is
full,
meant
charging
equipment
required
coordination
and
good
will
of
roommates.
The
bunk
beds
were
of
the
metal
frame
variety
and
IMHO,
a
little
loose.
I
was
unlucky
to
have
a
bunk
mate
who
moved
around
a
lot
in
his
sleep,
which
woke
me
up
often
enough
to
be
annoying.
The
ensuite
was
a
good
sized
bathroom
with
a
shower,
sink
and
toilet.
Hot
water,
shower
all
worked
well.
I
didn't
think
the
ventilation
was
all
that
great
though.
The
smells
in
the
ensuite
and
also
the
common
WC
tended
to
linger.
But
otherwise,
the
ensuite
and
room
were
cleaned
everyday
and
the
staff
do
a
good
job.
The
kitchen
facilities
were
excellent.
Two
large
fridges,
a
microwave,
cookers,
oven,
pots
and
pans,
and
all
the
utensils
you'll
need
for
cooking
and
eating.
The
kitchen
area
also
had
lots
of
benches
for
sitting
and
I
don't
think
anyone
had
any
problems
finding
a
seat.
The
common
areas
included
a
tastefully
decorated
sitting
area
and
a
balcony.
Location
wise,
the
hostel
is
only
about
15
minutes
walk
to
Cologne
Central
Station,
the
historic
old
town
and
all
the
main
attractions
in
the
city.
There's
a
supermarket
just
down
stairs
and
minutes
to
several
major
shopping
streets.
The
Wifi
works
great
and
very
fast.
The
WiFi
is
also
based
on
a
voucher
system
that
is
valid
for
the
duration
of
the
stay.
Each
voucher
is
only
valid
for
one
device,
but
I
just
asked
for
a
second
one
and
the
staff
were
happy
to
oblige.
Overall,
I
had
a
very
good
stay.
