The Romische Stadtmauer is a 160 metre stretch of what remains of the old Roman city wall. Not much to look at. Take a quick look if you're in the area or visiting Kölnisches Stadtmuseum, but otherwise, don't go out of the way to see it. There are better exhibits in the Roemisch Germanisches Museum.

A wall you can easily walk or drive by. It does not look that old, but it is. It is Roman, still standing strong.

There's not much to see other than the gnawed wall. But if you think about the surroundings in your mind and realize that the stones under your feeling hand have almost 2,000 years under their belt, then even such a remnant of the wall is fascinating. For us in Europe, such a wall is not that unusual, but what might be going on in the head of an American who doesn't know anything like this? Any city that can still present such remnants of the wall should consider themselves lucky to have them.

I was surprised to find in the middle of the street a piece of Roman wall so well preserved and surrounded by parking, that is, completely situated like another piece of street furniture. Very close there is also a tower (100m up the street) and a piece of aqueduct or pipe (right in front)

Zur Römerzeit war er viel höher, aber das, was jetzt noch zu sehen ist, ist beeindruckend. Schöne Mosaike auf den Eckturm der ebenfalls römischen Stadtmauer.
