****************************************** This church is currently very nicely decorated for Christmas, which gives a nice atmosphere and therefore warmer and more harmonious. The simplicity of the nativity scene goes very well with the Kolomban Church.

This is a very special place. As soon as the heavy door closes behind you, silence surrounds your mind. Here you can relax 100%. Switch off. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. Unprotected, an altar with valuable gemstones and wonderful work in gold and silver presents itself. Magnificent and yet it fits into the simple room. Whenever I'm in the city, I find the opportunity to relax here for a moment. I enjoy this place. It is as if lines of force meet here and supply the visitor with energy.

Great restauration work. Small church, part of the Kolumna community.

This church is a little gem in a big city of Cologne that is worth looking for. But also a memorial to what wars can destroy. A reason to think.

The entrance is a bit inconspicuous but easy to find. As soon as you are in the entrance area, there is a Lady Chapel on the right with an east-facing choir, which has a mosaic floor made from the remains of the old church. The front part of the Lady Chapel has simple wooden benches separated from each other by a narrow central aisle. Shortly behind the seating, the semicircular choir opens with an altar standing in the middle on a three-tiered platform. If you walk straight ahead in the entrance area, after a few meters you will come directly to the sacrament chapel. The chapel was built from the remaining pieces of the ruins and with raw quarry stone for pillars and arch masonry. This creates the impression of a medieval church. The contrast to “modernity” becomes clear in contrast to the sacrament chapel that was added a few years later. The windowless room receives little natural light. It falls through the stone grilles, which are inserted into the wall like a skylight on the east wall and have onyx discs, and through a round opening in the ceiling directly above the altar in the middle of the room. I have never seen a “church” like this before and I was very amazed at what was hidden in such a small part of the building. Before you enter the church you can look through a grille on the right and you can still see the remains of the wall of the old church.

great museum with a beautiful architecture and lovely art. great church too, really impressive in an overhaul. the museum is just impressively big and there is a lot of things that you can see. the museum is free if you’re under 18 and there are lockers at the entrance for your belongings.

A very nice, contemplative atmosphere in the church. "Madonna in the Ruins". In March 1945, the church was bombed for the third time and was completely destroyed. Only Mary with Jesus in her arms remained safe on a pillar. Only Mary's crown was lost. There was only rubble all around, but Madonna and Child remained standing. A beautiful chapel was built around this column in the early 1950s. The floor of the chapel was made from remains of the rubble of the old church (which, until its destruction, was the largest church in Cologne - with 5 naves, except the cathedral). Pay attention to the stair-shape mosaic.. on the floor. Simbol, meaning "stairs to heaven". Above the altar, the dome spreads like a "sail of a ship." "God's Ship"! Take time to enjoy a few minutes of this calm, heavenly atmosphere.
