This Diamond Jubilee Memorial monument was built for Former Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Victoria. This monument is situated at the opposite side of Viharamahadevi Park and main entrance of Laksala Museum Gallery Cafe.

Queen Victoria Statue is a lovely sculpture work. It is located rear side of Viharamahadevi Park which was formerly known as Victoria park. The Queen Victoria Statue built for the diamond jubilee monument. It is located in a corner of natural museum's premise and next to national art gallery. It's a beautiful work.

This marble statue of Queen Victoria was erected in 1897 for her diamond jubilee and was originally placed at Gordon gardens adjacent to the Governor's palace (now presidential palace).It was removed from its original location due to the belief of bad luck on the president during reign ofJR Jayawardena. Now it is placed adjacent to the natural history museum overlooking the victoria park(viharamaha devi park).

I have always wondered why forign invadors names are denominating on Srilankan Roads and here i found one of the biggest statues in Colombo of a invading monaque where we dont have a single local king or queens statue. Dispite all its great piece of architecture and art .

It was placed in gardens adjoining the residence of the governor-general of what was then the British colony of Ceylon. The building - in Colombo's Fort district - became the presidential palace in 1972. Then the statue was moved to the present location at colombo 7

She is not there no longer here
