Went for our anniversary dinner and the food was so good as always. The portions mains and sides are actually pretty huge. The service was excellent. Would recommend for special occasions since the prices are steep

Great place to have a good time with friends.. i loved the atmosphere of the place.. Normally its always crowded. I had a good cocktails and some snacks.. staff is really friendly and recommend what suits you well. Highly recommend to stay outside since sometimes live music is too loud even you can't hear what others saying.. other than that i loved the this bar and highly recommend

Great bar and ambiance. Amazing cocktails. The whisky sour was great but now they don’t put the egg white which has made it just okay. The grill has some amazing dishes. The sauce that’s in the oysters is a bit too sharp that it takes away the taste of the oyster. Chef should consider serving it separately. The dress code here is too demanding for a tropical country. While I was there dressed well during the day in shorts and boat shoes they came up to me with a used sarong and asked to wear it. While I rejected it and opted to sit outside I saw many East Asians wearing shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops with shopping bags in hand. I found this extremely discriminating. Rules should apply to everyone! Dress Shorts should be perfectly acceptable in such hot weather as long as they are paired well. While this bar reminds me of establishments such as the The Gansevoort, Top of Standard in NYC, a Nobu or the Ritz, I find it a bit alarming that they discriminate based on race. A long way to go Capital Bar and Shangri La Colombo. Hence the two stars.

Lovely restaurant inside Shangrila Colombo. Their meat 🥩 dishes are fantastic. Seafood 🦞 dishes also very good. Lovely bar with nice atmosphere. Can enjoy a wine 🍷 or a beer 🍺 inside the restaurant or in their balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Best steaks in Sri Lanka for sure. Super soft and pure meat. Great service. It has his prize of course, but it’s totally with it. Deserts are also awesome. Unfortunately we went there on Independence Day and they didn’t serve alcohol. Didn’t know this before. But anyway the experience was nice 👌

Great place for a friendly get-together or a romantic meet-up. The ambiance was on point and the service exemplary. There's options of either sitting inside or outside. We had a Christmas dinner. Everything from the appetisers to mains and desserts were delicious. We were served by Bartender Mr.Thilina, and he was so courteous and made out visit comfortable. Kudos to the whole team of staff. Will definitely be back. 👍🙌

Incredible! I went there because I wanted a tomahawk steak and boy did they have one. But that was not all, they served us one incredible dish after the other. OK, the prices were almost at European levels but that was well worth it. They have a special cocktail "Whiskey sour" or something, made with Mandarin Napolitain and smoke from whiskey barrel chips. Simply incredible, I could drink liters of it. On the way out we took some desserts along to eat the next morning and this was on the same level! If you are in Colombo eat here!

Good things first. This was Our first place to stay and eat at a decent joint after a week of kiting in Kalpitya :) Now hard facts. First of all I do NOT recommend steak at this place, just trust me on this one. Hard to chew, not aged enough and not juicy. If you are a meat lover go for a burger, it’s fine. Seafood is better but again do not go for crab cakes. Too much or everything else and crab is overdone. Cocktails are just ok, drinkable but don’t get your hopes up. Almost forgot! Coffee is fine :)

Food was amazing! Service was top notch. Place was a bit too loud though. Our table was too close to tablets next to us. felt like we were a part of their conversation.

As you'd expect, they are super. The ambiance, food, service and everything is just super fine. I have only been there twice and I have fallen in love with the place. Not much to say really, you can't expect anything less from Shangri-la. Their drinks are amazing too. Very unique presentation and taste.

I’ve been to the front area of the capital bar and grill for drinks before but it’s the first time we went to the dining area yesterday. First of all it looks great and the ambience, atmosphere was spot on! We opted to sit in one of the booths. From the time we stepped in to Shangri-la the service was amazing. It was especially so at the restaurant with the hosts and servers being proactive, polite, well trained and very professional And to top it off the food was delicious and absolutely fantastic. We had salmon, a steak, this yummy almond broccoli dish and truffle mashed potato on top of the complementary bread and appetizer which were all so delicious! And the desserts were really good too! They deserve five stars and more! We will be definitely visiting again.

Came for a few drinks before dinner and so glad I did. Beautiful bar, the friendliest of staff and brilliant drinks. These are London-level cocktails in terms of quality but for half the price. The best drinks I had in my two weeks of Sri Lanka (I'd been searching for a great margarita in earnest and the one here certainly quenched my thirst!). I was particularly impressed with Allen who made me a delicious cocktail only to be surprised to find out that he was a trainee! Would definitely recommend anyone to stop by for a drink here before they leave Colombo.

Ambience was great! Jazz band was lovely and played requests. Service was good. The mocktaik was a bit too diluted and lacked flavour.

A chill bar in the heart of Colombo, inside the majestic Shangri-La Hotel. We stopped by last night after dinner to hang with friends and shared a few drinks. The interior decor was slightly over the top - they could have fit in more seating in exchange for cabinets shelved with glassware. A live band was playing classical music. Overall, an inviting ambience. Cocktails, though overpriced, were presented well with a perfect blend of ingredients. The Whiskey Sour, at 2300LKR, was top-notch. The gentleman's penicillin, however, tasted too strong and was not worth the 5300LKR.

We had the most wonderful experience dining here on NYE. The restaurant was booked out but the Manager (Ganidu) kindly found a last minute table for us in the bar area. This was even better than the min restaurant as we enjoyed beautiful live jazz music as we dined. A gorgeous space and atmosphere. Being Australians, we would never order the steak dishes so cannot comment on these (although looked delicious) but the grilled lobster with lemon butter sauce, hanging chicken and sticky date pudding were all exceptional.The personalised service was no 1!!! Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again one day when next in Colombo and staying at the wonderful Shangri La hotel...

Absolutely lovely food and lovely staff. Staff here were a pleasure to be around. Food was excellent, and I would highly recommend this place. Would especially recommend the fish which is a speciality in this area. Live music played late on through the night adds a great atmosphere, and the large outside terrace offers great views overlooking the city skyline of Colombo.

The Capital Bar and Grill, at the Shangri-La Hotel, opens at 5 pm. The entrance is a WOW, a tall wooden display of several cabinets filled with crystal glasses (see my photos). A mesmerizing welcome. Inside, it has the right ambiance, lighting and decor to be a starter place, for the rest of your evening. There is also live vocal music (jazz when I was there), that began at 8:00 pm, with a trio on instrumentals. Just had a beverage here. Excellent service.

We dined in the Private Dining room for my sister's birthday on the 5th of March 2022 and the experience from beginning to end was nothing short of spectacular. The entire night was guided by Vimukthi who gave us the most efficient and unobtrusive service that I've ever experienced in Sri Lanka to date. The wine, drinks and kids orders were taken and delivered swiftly. We had a fantastic Whiskey Sour cocktail that was served to all the adults complete with a frozen decanter, ice spheres and tableside pouring. Wow! We ordered several mains along with small starters to be served as appetisers to have with our drinks followed by the mains. Breads and dip were amazing, steaks were perfectly done, ribs falling off the bones and everything was so beautifully presented. Side dishes were huge and tasty and pre-dessert friandises were a nice touch. During the whole night, water and drinks were topped off with us barely noticing anyone coming in or going out of the private room without a single hiccup or delay. I have always maintained that in Colombo you have two choices for dining out, especially for special occasions : pay a little less and have a mediocre experience or pay a little extra and get your money's worth with an experience and food that is not soon forgotten. Capital Bar fits into the latter and wins by a country mile. I have dined several times at Shang Palace and it never failed to deliver but now my wife and I have a tough choice to make every time I return to Shangri La. Thank you to Vimukthi, the bar and kitchen team for an unforgettable night!

Great place for a special meal with fresh food and delicate flavours, excellent service. Highly recommend the Lagoon Prawns as well as the snapper, corn fed chicken. A focussed menu well delivered. The live music on a Saturday added to the ambience.

One of the best dining experience we had in some time.. celebrated my husbands birthday here and everything was top notch. The such a nice ambiance and a chilled place I would say.. interior was Stylish and elegant. The setting offers multiple unique ambiances – the lively bar is ideal for pre-dinner drinks as their mixologists shake up the perfect concoctions; the vibrant “Blue Room” includes a show kitchen; alfresco dining can be enjoyed out on the terrace, as the ocean breeze carries over . They also played really good music… And to tell about the food it was absolutely fantastic.. we were welcomed with a basked of bread and chips.. the pesto butter and the betroot purée complimented it really well… I would rate the watermelon juice and the lime juice we ordered 7/10 however it was super fresh. We also ordered the CBG’s signature beef burger and the hanging chicken skewer. Fantastic presentation and the food was super fresh, very filling and delicious.. definitely worth what you pay.. The birthday cake we got complimentary was Scrumptious as well.. And their service was great.. overall we had a wonderful experience at the capital bar and grill.. thank you for making our day.. Will come back again for sure.

The ambience and the staff are absolutely amazing, the staff are really easy to work with and read your mind when it comes to what you want. The ambience is cross between Sri Lanka and western culture. However the food can be a bit messy and the prices are exorbitant.

Love the buy-one-get-one-free happy hour from 5:30-7:30. They also provide these delicious spicy cashews to go with the nice cocktails. Gents, be sure to wear pants and wear some shoes. They also have live jazz here. It's a bit loud in the bar but nice from the dining area.

Pricey but worth it! You are searching for a delicious steak? You have to come here! And ask for the truffle mash potato - fantastic! Love the interior and the high class - dinner atmosphere, you have the feeling to jump back in time! If you are lucky the bar plays live music and you will enjoy a perfect evening.

Nice ambience. Although the booth tables are quite high and the seats are low which is a bit of a design flaw. Overall doesn't seem worth the price you pay for meals. The meals are large but it's nothing special. Good service - though it's expected from an establishment like that.

Good place to go window shopping and also to spend time. The parking facility is like that of CCC but is a bit more advanced. Had a bit of trouble finding the vehicle the first time i visited. Should keep in mind to remember the number of the parking slot and parking zone that we parked 😅

One of my favourite places in Colombo, the prices are a little steep but it's definitely worth it. I usually go there for the ambience, the food and a little music.

В этом случае от ресторана , должен быть комплимент в виде извинений... но этого не последовало, персонал не извинился... перечеркнуло весь вечер. Очень жаль. При этом в чек ещё включается таксы и сборы!!! Советую данное место, но обязательно проверяйте чек до оплаты.
