Got the seafood platter for 2 which was on offer at 50%, one could hardly say it is adequate for 2, while the seafood was fresh and flavoursome the quantity was quite a bit desiring if it was meant for 2, the rice was literally just a handful. I would say the platter would be just about enough for one hence I was compelled to order some additional dishes as I was accompanied by my son.

From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much, but choose a table on the beach and enjoy a nice chilled Lion lager while enjoying the cool sea breeze. The waiters will bring out the days catch still fresh on a platter for you to choose and decide how you want it cooked. The food was fresh and delicious and I highly recommend you try this restaurant if you are in town.

The Lobster and all other food was very good! I really recommend the lobster haha :-)

UTTERLY DISSAPONITED . Had a seafood rice and egg rice its almost like a salt lake, no taste , small portions. We ordered two sea food rice and its not enough for even one person.hmm What can i suggest AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST. Its hay days were long gone.

Went to this restaurant during a random drive in Colombo. Came out to be one of the heritage and awesome restaurant in the city. Sea foods are super fresh. Its located just behind the seashore. Had an peaceful sea walk with a beer. Must visit restaurant in colombo

Nice and calm place to hangout with friends and family , good customer service and kind staff , environment is also good and calm with the beach view❤️ no corkage charges and you cannot bring liquor from outside.

This place lost it. Atleast on January 3rd 2023. The waiters were lost. The food never came in after 1.5 hours and they keep on saying excuses. The ambiance was sketchy at best. Save yourself the trouble and go further down the road to barracuda or just the KFC across the street.

A very nice seafood restaurant. You can sit outside on the beach in a nice atmosphere. The food is fresh made. It very delicious ☺️. The service is very good and can give some recommendations 🙂, like grilled garlic prawns and deviled fish. In one week we have been twice at this place. We will come again.

Visited for lunch. Pros, 1. Calm and quiet place. Great view of sea. 2, Food was great. The fried rice especially was very good and my Belgian guest was very happy. 3. Henry who served us had his mask on and was courteous. 4. Portion sizing was good. Cons, 1. Had a foreigner with us so didn’t expect the potato curry to be spicy. Would have been great if they clarified it (being a popular place for foreigners) 2. Long wait for the food. My colleague even commented if they had gone to sea to catch the fish. Overall great food but be prepared to wait for it.

This iconic restaurant has deteriorated to the level of a street vendor. And that is being complimentary. The food is just terrible, and the over used oil was sickening. I watched a table of ten diners 'vent their spleen' at the hapless waiter. I use the term waiter rather loosely, as I am not really sure what they were. The ambience is drab, and the atmosphere depressing. It is akin to a stricken horse waiting to be put out of its misery. Remember the grand old days, and don't spoil your memories by going to this establishment.

Location quite strategic, Sea foods 7.5 out of 10. Atmosphere 7 out of 10 (some flies, cat and dog came to join the meal), else will be 8 out of 10 as nice beach view but not 10 of 10 as the decoration quite old type and not latest decorative design and theme restaurant. Service 8 out 10 as resto closed by 3pm, however they allowed us to eat after 3pm.

There's no seperated units for restaurant and the smoking area. Not suitable for pregnant ladies and childrens. Except that nice food.

Incredibly fresh seafood with wonderful views and helpful, friendly staff. Very reasonable prices too Edit; I have returned several times post Covid, and the service needs a bit of improvement. Several orders have been messed up , and on my most recent visit I ordered oysters with the tops off. They came with the shell fully on and I had to send them back. When they came back, there were bits of sand and cracked shell left in the oysters. Many of them had been placed upside down so the liquid had drained out. The timings displayed online about the opening hours are also incorrect, they close at 3pm.

Heard lots of good things about this place. Decided to check it out during our visit to SL in Dec 2019. We ordered a variety of seafood dishes. They were all fresh and tasted great. The fact that I liked about the food was it was simply prepared without overpowering with spices or sauces. You could actually taste the seafood. Simple beach front atmosphere with sandy foors and coconut leaf thatched roof. I loved their lime and soda too.

Good sea food restaurant at the beach side! Visited during monsoon rains, but the place was pretty cozy anyway. Ordered crab and the food was very good (although spicy for non-natives 🙈)!

A beautiful spot to enjoy an afternoon with food and beer. Friendly staff and good menu. There were quite a few other people there but I felt like I had the place to myself. I will be back to try more of the menu.

Surprisingly small selection of anything spicy, but I suppose they cater to locals who are sick of curries. Supposedly good for shellfish but in the absence of any visible tank or display (and the absence of other customers) we stuck to more basic fare. Food was good, drinks list is pretentious for what is fundamentally a beach bar. Quite a long trek from downtown. Maybe gets busy and feels worthwhile at weekends? (We went on a Tuesday)

Great for sea food . Such as baked CRAB Prawns and Garupa. Service not top class but Ok for a place like that. Ok for wines and liquor but not stocked with any fruit drinks except perhaps Lime

One of my best seafood joint, i use to go there since 1998 nothing has changed as they maintain the overall quality well, service is super great food if you don't like too spicy just tell them ahead, having a cool beer with hot butter cuttlefish looking at the sunset over the horizon, what a great feeling, it is one of the oldest seafood restaurant and many local and foreign celebrities has been visited this place you can see the pictures of them hanging in the wall, Restroom available parking too available, i would give them 5 star

Unfortunately I cannot give more than two stars. I took my family thinking it would be the same food and same experience i received as a regular before Covid. Many items on the menu were not available, it took close to one and half hour for the foods to arrive from the kitchen. Cats were a regular problem in and around our dining area. Furthermore, the mediocre food was a disappointment. Overall really dissatisfied that a previously great restaurant has turned out like this, with a satisfactory dining experience and a below average staff service with us having to ask 4 times for chilled bottles of water to receive room temperature bottles.

Meant to be a great evening dinner however we met a number of problems. Takes a very long time for food to come, MOST THE ITEMS on the menu are NOT there, food doesn’t taste great, CATS walking in between your feet. Please consider any other place for your benefit. Staff do try their best though but had to ask for water 4 times before we were served thus service was poor.

A great place to enjoy the seafood in Colombo.. My boss took me here saying it is a must visit place for food and man! He is 100% correct.. U get tables in the beach side.. Good food with excellent quantities. The service is good and the servers know to advice properly on the amount of food that should be bought. A pathway is there to easily walk over the railway track which makes it more accessible than other restaurants in the area. Even an old person can go without any problems. Overall good experience. Would recommend.

The location is excellent as it is right beside the Wellawatta beach. It's perfect if you want to swim in the sea or have by a beer by the beach without leaving Colombo. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food could've been better. We had the fried fish, seafood platter, devilled crab and the seafood fried rice. Out of those items the seafood fried rice and fish was perfect. The crab was drowned in tomato "sauce" and platter was underwhelming. However the food didn't affect our overall impression as we were very happy and we look forward to visiting again.

The Wadiya is an unpretentious sea-food joint off a virgin beach along Galle road Wellawatte that has won international renown.

Super nice place located on the beach on the rim of the ocean. The tables are standing on the sand of the beach which adds to the genuine feeling of this old place that was washed away during the tsunami in 2004 and later rebuilt. The food was excellent, the best fish I ever had (Mullet) but also cuttlefish, prawns and lobster. They had a lovely kind of varm sallad with vegetables and red onion with a salty (soya?) taste that we ate. Have never eaten anything like it in Europe but it's a must buy if you visit this place! Be careful about following their rice recommendations though as they are based on the locals and are enormous portions. We ordered half of what they recommended and still only ate half of that so we got a big doggy bag with rice to bring back home. When you eat you can hear the waves coming in, in the background a very soothing sound. I would definitely go here again when I'm in Colombo 🙂

We went to Beach Wadiya today 17th December 2023 for sea food lunch. The only fish that available was cuttle fish only and we ordered fried rice, devilled cuttle fish and kankun. The taste of the food was horrible. More than half of the food we didn't have and service was very poor. Not recommending this place to anyone as it will be just a waste of money.

The food was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not much of an atmosphere when I went since it was lunch time. The views are fantastic! The furniture and building is a bit run down and could do with a bit of modernisation. Still a great setting with a great food.

A Classic Sea food place, that is revitalized. Beach Wadiya has been there always to cater my sea food fix with great and fresh dishes and decently priced liquor. They have renovated and revamped the location yet saved the great ambience and exprience. The service for me has always been very accommodating, pricing against the portions and flavor has been great. Ideal place for a late night gathering with friends and family beside the beach. The place is not shady , highly recommend.

I'm giving one star for the guy who helps guests safely cross over the rail tracks. He was kind and polite. Otherwise, food was bland. Servers were inattentive. They were busy chatting and I had to walk away from the table twice to get their attention. Does not worth the buck at all. We went on a Tuesday night.

Great place for a family outing, being a sea food restaurant it's best to stick to their authentic sea food cuisine. Very good service staff who are friendly and helpful. Truly good for families as they do not entertain unruly characters. They server alcohol and beer as well, if your in the mood for that.

staff is well dressed and very friendly. the place is also very decent and you can go even with your children. the beach is not that big but you can feel the breeze. the reason im giving 3 star is, I went there to have dinner with two of my friends. when we ask what we have for our dinner, one of the waiters brought raw fishes to the table which was very smelly and my appetite went away. I dont know may be this strategy might work on foreigners not definitely for locals. we came back right away. anyway good place, its very unfortunate that we had that kind of experience.
