Indian cuisine restaurant at Cinnamon Grand.. Well its a south Indian restaurant.. They many varieties of South Indian food from Kerali, Karnataka to tamil nadu.. Let's talk about service.. The manager who came to take the order had no interest or no smile on the face.. Showed least interest. Then we ordered some Dosa.. Guess how long it took.. 35mins..the Indian colleague of mine insisted that we walk off.. But I remained to save some respect.. Gave 2 stars cos the food was nice.. But there are many places around Colombo with similar food for low cost.. And much much better service..

One of my favourite South Indian restaurants. Good choice of dishes. My favourite is the drink panna. They used to serve free papad and chutneys as a starter that’s no longer given. Service was good.

I would like to recommend this place highly. Food was really tasty and it has that indian authentic flavor. Staff is really friendly and nice place to have a dinner. Ordered food items: Masala Neer More South Indian non vegetarian dosai thali Mutton Mangala - Karnataka Kohzi Biriyani This combo was superb and portion size also satisfied. Worth for the money as we had a good meal in calm and quiet environment.

The restaurant is themed around Indian literature and songs. This is located inside Cinnamon Grand. The atmosphere is great with tamil songs going in the background giving you Indian vibes. We ordered Chicken Keema Dosa and Ghee Paper Dosa. Chicken Keema is good but the Ghee Paper Dosa was not up to the expectations. It should have been more roasted and crispier, at least in my expectations. Had Gulab Jamun and it was served hot and tasted good. Had Faluda as well, its good but same as you get anywhere else nothing new. Prices are reasonable, I can say it's a bit high but I can't expect much when located under a hotel. Service is great, many people are there to serve.

Visited Chutneys during our stay at the Cinnamon Grand. Food was good with a great variety in the menu. However, we were surprised not to see any naan served. The service was just average and the host didn't seem to be too friendly. The menu caters to both vegetarians as well as the non-vegetarians and it is a big space to hold even a big group.

You should try the vegetarian buffet they have on poya days! It was an absolute treat and the variety of dishes offered was impressive. Chutneys is definitely a great find for anyone who loves Indian cuisine.

we went there for dinner and got more than suprised. The restaurant is located inside the cinnamon grand hotel, so what mean you have to walk through the hotel. The ambient is stunning, food and beverages more than delicious. Price performance very fair. Big thanks to „Ajith“ who lead us trough the menu and looked after us attentively. We will come back for sure.

Had this delivered to our doorstep via flavours.cinnamon.com. For deliveries over 10k, the delivery is free. And there are credit card offers as well. With all the sides, the value for money is great as it's always the case with Cinnamon. The portion was supposed to feed 7-8 people, but for an average family, this will feed around 12. The cake was delicious too. Watalappan was ok, nothing special.

The worst experience at a Cinnamon restaurant. We went for lunch last Sunday. The waiter Gayan who took the order was very impolite. They took over 1 hour to serve food with no explanation whatsoever. It took around another 15mins for the food to be served, even after complaining. On top of all of this they brought us a wrong order. We ordered three non veg thali and realized they had not included the meat items. The rice that was supposed to be included didn't arrive with the thali as well. One of us didn't have the ulundu wade and when we asked the waiter got back saying its being fried and it'll be here soon. The restaurant manager had no idea how to handle the situation and the waiter Gayan who took the order very nonchalantly walked about while all this was going on. Worst customer service ever! The F&B manager apologized but the experience was extremely horrible. Avoid if possible.

This is cinnamon grand hotel’s Indian restaurant. Ulundu vadei, mutton biriyani, Gulab Jamun and mutton curry all together is 10/10 while service and ambient also top notch. Nothing can go wrong here. It’s quite expensive but you enjoy enough for what you spend.

It's located inside cinnamon grand hotel So no problem about parking Restaurant located at ground floor And there is a separate place for smoking too Really good place for South Indian food! Tried their veg and non veg buffets! Friendly staff and good vibes... They have a live station within the buffet for the fried items and you car so opt to go for their ala carte menu whiche prices are again reasonable for the location, service and quality! Would recommend this more than any other place in Colombo for Indian dishes!

Tasty food. Prawn biriyani was amazing. Had a generous amount of nicely cooked prawns packed into the biriyani. A must try dish. Non - veg thaali is also had a unique taste from bite to bite.... Had different curries with different taste which made the thalli really interesting. Food is not heavy as they had rasam and other spices used in the cooking. And they serve the thaali with a little dessert which is suuuper delicious. The milk and sago pudding like thing is heavenly. And the pineapple and tamarind juice is also a great combination for the food we ordered. Order the tamarind and ginger juice if u like the taste of tamarind. Overall nice setting with a good service and definitely a good option for group outings.

If you want to try out authentic Indian food then Chutneys is the place to be. Since it's inception I've managed to visit this restaurant time after time. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit in Colombo. Food is simply yummy. Make sure that you check out the cheese dosa 💯🥰🙌🏻

Chutneys, is a South Indian restaurant at the Cinnamon Grand. Most, if not all South Indian restaurants that you find in any city, generally provide food from Tami Nadu only. However, Chutneys is unique, in that it has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes not only from Tamil Nadu, but also from Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. So I opted for an Andra Pradesh dish of Nellore Chepala Pulusu (Nellore chilli spiced signature fish curry) to start my lunch. Unfortunately, it was loaded with mango juice and was very sour. So they re did it for me without the mango. It was made with Seer fish and was spicy with a thick tomato based gravy. This was followed by a Karnataka preparation of Badanekai Alugadde Palya (Brinjals and potatoes tempered with mustard and dry masala). This dish was like a hash, with zero texture. Most of the potatoes were mashed. It seemed that the dish had been made a while back and was being reheated frequently. There was flavor, and it came from the small pieces of lightly charred brinjals. Also had white basmati rice and raita (with chilies and onions), as accompaniments. Service was good, they kept checking on me to make sure everything was okay.

We ordered a variety of foods n drinks, it took sometime to serve, maybe because it got a little too busy. Anyways the food was delicious, loved the fish we ordered. Prata and Biriyani was also delicious. The best of them all was the dessert Julab Jamun!!!!

Visited for lunch on Pongal. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. Ulundu wade, Bonda, Dosa non-veg Thali, South Indian non-veg Thali, Mutton/Prawn Biryani, Lassi, Tamarind juice, Masala Chai were fresh and tasted so good. It took some time to prepare the order, however, the calm atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing until the dishes got ready.

Chutneys, nestled within Cinnamon Grand in Colombo 03, is a delightful South Indian restaurant that promises a culinary journey through Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The extensive menu offers a rich tapestry of flavors, each dish crafted to perfection. What truly sets Chutneys apart is the expertise of their Indian chef, whose touch adds an authentic charm to every bite. Prepare to be amazed as you savor the essence of South Indian cuisine in every delectable dish. Our dining experience at Chutneys was off to a great start with the Ulndu Wade, served with two flavorful chutneys. With just three pieces, it left us craving for more! Priced at LKR 1,080, it was worth every penny for the amazing taste it offered. For beverages, we tried the refreshing Tamarind Juice, or "Panakam," which was simply delightful. With the subtle sweetness of jaggery, it was a perfect accompaniment to our meal, priced at only LKR 850. This is a must try. We also indulged in the pure Ginger Juice, known as "Inji Chaaru," priced similarly at LKR 850. It had a comforting, homemade feel to it, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. For mains, we ordered a non-veg Dosai Thali came with two masala dosais and one paper dosai and 12 or 13 curries. i remember it had mutton curry, chicken curry, carrot halwa and so many more. i would say, if you are an average eater, that portion would be suffice for two people. it was priced at LKR 2,480/-. Highly recommended. We opted for the Paratha portion, which included three delicious layered parathas, priced at LKR 1,080. Each paratha was perfectly cooked, with layers that added to its texture and taste. To complement the parathas, we ordered the Andhra style Prawn curry, also known as "Royyilu Iguru," priced at LKR 2,280. The curry was an absolute delight, bursting with flavors and generously filled with succulent prawns. It was a truly satisfying culinary experience! After indulging in the delightful dishes mentioned above, we found ourselves pleasantly full and unfortunately couldn't explore the dessert menu. When the bill arrived, including service charges and taxes, the total came to about LKR 11,584. Considering the quality of food, service, and overall experience, we felt it was well worth the money spent. The restaurant emanates an authentic Indian vibe with its serene and peaceful ambiance. It's an ideal spot for family or group outings, as the seating arrangements provide a sense of privacy for each group. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it.

We went to have dinner. Service and everything good. But not tasty food and very very expensive. Everyone knows it's expensive but not worth for money.

"Chutney," From the moment I entered the cozy, well-decorated establishment, to the last sip of their incredibly delicious coffee, it was an evening to remember. The attentive and friendly captain , Gayan, greeted us with a welcoming smile, and he provided excellent service throughout the evening. His knowledge of the menu and his recommendations were spot-on, adding to the overall dining experience. "Chutney" surprised us with an incredibly delicious and aromatic cup of coffee. It was the perfect ending to our meal. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine and appreciate a great cup of coffee, "Chutney" is a must-visit.

Great range of Veg and Non Veg Indian food. Great authentic Indian drinks selection as well. The restaurant was a little understaffed and it seemed a little chaotic, most likely due to Covid issues. The food was still really nice although it seemed like the flavors have dulled a little since I last visited the place. Overall though it was a good experience

The quality was quite different from 3 years ago but the food was delicious and the service was good. The cheesy naan was so good, we ordered another. Only downside was there was a wedding taking place in the hotel right outside of the entrance to the restaurant and the music was unbearably loud and unfitting for the place.

Really Tasty indian foods.. Recommend to try Biriyani at their place. Normally I'm not a Biriyani person, But now I started to love biriyani. I'm Appearance and the service is really good. Tips: 2 Portion might enough for 3 people according to your appetite.

Ambience and decorations are nice We ordered a few mocktails and they were great but later we ordered the main items. Even though we ordered paneer dosa and paper masala dosa, we were given paper dosa and masala dosa. Due to time, we did not make any issues. We ordered 2 desserts, but they brought 3. I believe the waiters do not listen clearly what we said. Also, the amount of chutney they give for vadai or dosa are smaller, and we had to ask the second time for refills. Paper dosa was dry, and masala dosa teasted below average. Prices are high for the food quality and taste.

South Indian intricacies with robust flavour in every bite. The mutton Biriyani is a definite recommend, paired with a cuppa rasam. The range of ghee dosa are a delightful must-have. Waiting staff are proficient, friendly and supportive. Excellent level of service at all times. Kudos to the management and Team! Looking forward to the next time I dine here.

Most horrible experience ever. I think they forgot how to serve customers. The manger Manoj was not suitable to be a manger. Doesn't know how to deal with a customer complain. Please avoid the waiter gayan. Not trained and courtious at all. Worst indian restaurant ever. We will certainly not step into this restaurant. Food took 1 and half hours and they got us the wrong order. Worst ever experience with cinnamon grand.

Nice place to try Indian cuisines. Good support from the staff. Wide variety of cuisines available. We like all the dishes we tried. Good place to have time with the family. Prices bit high. But still worth to the money with the inflation and all.

Love their Dosas, especially the Non vegetarian Dhosa Thali. It was so yummy. My friends had paneer dhosa and the Chicken biriyani and wrapped it up with Chai tea. Beautiful interior and a reasonably priced Indian joint.
