I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the overall vibe of the place. Everything was perfectly in order and the staff were well-educated and incredibly friendly. My only critique would be that the spaghetti bolognese didn't quite meet my expectations. Nonetheless, the restaurant is exceptionally well-maintained.

LOVED the space. The perfect first stop in Colombo. Food is delectable, few vegan options but they have almond milk. So vegan/dairy free people. Get your fix of a good cappuccino here. It’s quite difficult to find dairy free milk in Colombo otherwise. The Nasi Goreng is delicious. The desserts looks super appealing but the rice really filled me up.

If you wish to kill two birds with one stone (and are an architectural aficionado and a foodie), then you must visit The Gallery Cafe. It is located in one of the many houses of the late Sri Lankan Architect Extraordinaire, Geoffrey Bawa. I just learned that he also designed the Sri Lankan Parliament Complex in Kotte. Wow. Therefore, this restaurant is a sight to behold. There are many wide spaces, with an outdoor (for the smokers) and an indoor but open area for the rest of the diners. Surprisingly, there is only a one person men’s restroom. Have they not noticed this? The menu has a variety and is simple. The cocktails are limited but well known (the tamarind chili martini is a must). For my lunch, I ordered the grilled jumbo prawns with salad. It comes with hand cut fries. So how was it? Spectacular. My first bite was the fries and immediately I knew that these were amongst the best fries I have ever had. Really. The perfect thickness, carefully fried, lightly salted and with a rich flavor (and aroma) of potato. The salad too was crunchy and refreshing. As for the prawns, they were not jumbo (as stated in the menu), but instead, a medium size and you got 4 of them. They were grilled optimally to highlight moistness, texture, bite and flavor. The salt and pepper flavor was one to remember. The only hiccup in this otherwise unforgettable dining experience was the service. The servers clearly pay more attention to tourists. Therefore, their delivery was disappointingly slow, sporadic and hurtfully indifferent.

Me and my husband went to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary.It is a lovely place where you have a good variety of food and beverage. Really enjoyed the atmosphere with the background music. Super delicious food and helpful staff. Would recommend for anyone.

Bad service, I think the servers believe they are doing the paying customers a favor by serving them. But, there was an European couple being served by the same bloke serving us, however with them he was ready to pull his pants down and bend over for them. So makes me believe that the quality of service varies depending on the the customers' skin complexion. Food was good.

The Gallery Cafe is on the high-end of restaurants and lives up to its reputation with exceptional service and excellent food. Our selection for this evening was fantastic. We chose the Sweet Pumpkin Soup with Pesto and basil to start, mains were Chicken stuffed with cheese and bacon and the vegetarian Brocoli and Mushroom Risotto which were all delicious and hearty portions. And of course for dessert my favourite 'Chocolate Nemesis' a light yet textured mousse that Gallery Cafe does best. I've heard glowing recommendations for all their desserts and some people choose to even drop by after a meal for only dessert. All in all a place for a special dinner or if you're feeling indulgent. A must try.

The mood, the yellow leaves quietly falling in the afternoon sun, the calm oasis feel after a busy day out in colombo. This is a slice of paradise, both in the setting and in their food. I tried their cheesecakes and they were all incredible, I would just suggest eating your way through the menu. For dinner I tried the tandoori salmon and it came on a bed of pesto risotto and the entire dish melted in my mouth. Would definitely recommend coming back again and again to try out their entire menu, and experience different spots to sit at.

This spot is an absolute must-visit. Housed within a stunning traditional building, the restaurant boasts a charming courtyard leading to its interior. The outdoor ambiance is superbly designed, offering a plethora of tables with both covered and open seating options. One dish that stands out for me is the delectable baked crab and prawn curry served with rice, although their other menu items are equally delightful.

The food quality was very disappointing. We have been regular customers and the food had been consistent but today the beef was over cooked and so we asked again for it and they brought it with frozen parts inside. Certainly not the value for money. Even the spinach crepes didn't have the source as before. Place is nice, but service is also failing: they didn't have the reserved table ready on time. One of the very high end cafes in Colombo. The menu is massive and they got anything and everything. Atmosphere is superb here and usually does not get too busy. Tried the crab and the pork dishes and they were very tender and delicious. The mashed potatoes were amazing too. The cocktails are also a treat with a fair share of alcohol in them. The outdoor seating area is lovely if the weather treats you right.

Totally dissatisfied with my experience here, for many reasons. We picked this place due to outside dining and we liked to be on the safer side due to current situation with covid. The first bad thing they did is putting the spoon on the table, without any sort of a napkin or anything. (They wrapped other cutlery in a napkin n kept on side plate but spoon they kept on the table.) This is very unacceptable for many reasons. First, it was table without any shade. So no idea what falls on it from above. Second, there is a pandemic going on! Someone might have dine in at that table before us and we never know whether they had the virus or not! This is really unacceptable. So moving on to the food experience, we ordered a nasi, chicken with chapati and salad. We also ordered some beverages. The nasi is pretty disgusting. No taste at all. Portion was very small as well. Not enough for a male. Also the vegetable in salad is visibly decayed. Chicken curry was tasty though. The price is high but the food is so bad that it is not worth the money at all. However, I must admit the look of the restaurant is really nice. With the fish pond and bench area, it gives some calm vibe in middle of the city.

A pleasant place to enjoy a quiet dinner in a good atmosphere. The children's menu is without spicy food. Delicious cocktails and cool beer not available in standard eateries. In the evening, with the onset of darkness, torches and living fire chandeliers are lit, which add a romantic and exotic note to the place.

We had the most incredible dinner here. We loved the cute, fairy light it square. The food was absolutely delicious. We both took curry’s which were fantastic Cocktails were perfect. We had great service in general but felt rushed out quite early as soon as the majority of people had left (before 10) they kept bringing our bill and hovering around for us to pay which we didn’t appreciate and was the only thing that we didn’t like about the restaurant.

Food is awesome. And they have a good mix of all varieties of foods. Service is amazing. The staff there treat us like their own people. Atmosphere also is awesome. But unfortunately we've been here for a dinner, and so couldn't enjoy the environment very much in blurry candle light. Best place to have a cheat but a healthy meal during a daytime.

Can’t recommend highly enough. We recently dined him as overseas travelers and adored the experience. The house itself is phenomenal. The extensive and well thought out menu and food were truly world class. The food was outstanding with unique combinations of flavours extremely well executed. We particularly loved our fish and pasta dishes. There is something for everyone and the only struggle is the ability to choose! Would happily try the whole menu. We are lovers of dining out and this restaurant far exceeded our expectations and has remained with us. We can’t wait to be back. This cafe is oriented around Geoffrey Bawa's old office. Naturally it's a famous place for hanging out and so on. You can order food and walk around the gallery of the preserved office of Bawa and then have your food. Their burgers/subs and drinks are good and not so overpriced as we had expected. It's just behind the Barefoot Gallery and also known as The Garden Cafe. Usually its very busy so you may have to wait a bit to place your order here

A beautiful space that used to be studio for the renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. It offers a nice selection of western and Sri Lankan food. Be sure to try one of their cakes--my favourite is the carrot cake. The ambience is lovely and the drinks are good. I recommend the Long Island Iced Tea. The Gallery Cafe is a wonderful little place for a romantic candle-lit dinner.

Been here on 2015, while visiting Sri Lanka with my friend Nice location, very good ambience of Sri Lankan Architecture mixed with english fluent architecture. big parking area, cozy place to eat, good furniture. Not that many people on lunch time, maybe because it’s little bit pricy. But the food is delicious, fair price with that good quality dish. Sure will comeback here soon after the pandemic.

Visited the Gallery Café for lunch and I must say I was somewhat disappointed. The food wasn't warm enough when it was bought to the table. The servers never refilled the glasses of water. They didn't inquire if we needed refills for the other beverages we consumed. Never inquired how the food tasted or if we needed anything else. Non of the ice creams listed on the menu were available and the overall service was very slow. We had to pretty much ask for everything. No proactive service which seems to be common in Sri Lanka but expect more from this place due to all the hype. The ambience is nice and it is sad to see that the service was below par. Food was good but the temperature it was served wasn't acceptable. Hope they get their acto together as it has so much potential to give much better service and hospitality.

Exemplary outdoor setting with a subtlety of tropical modernist architecture and interior decor. The lemon meringue pie had a tangy lemon filling that nested well between a beautifully crafted biscuity base, topped with perfectly crisp peaks and melt in your mouth meringue just beneath it. The pecan pie with a complementary scoop of French vanilla ice cream was a mouthful of Autumnal bliss with every bite. A cappuccino or a café latté pairs perfectly well to offset your sweet tooth craving. Truly serene experience guaranteed and a definite recommend, looking forward to my next visit!

One of the highlights of the cafe-gallery was the unique pieces of art made by modern artists that were on display. I found myself drawn to the artwork, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they were available for purchase. I ended up buying a beautiful piece that I will cherish for years to come. As a vegan, I appreciated the vegan options on the menu, but I would have liked to see more vegan options available. It would also be helpful if the vegan options were clearly indicated on the menu. Additionally, some of the waiters struggled with their English, which made it a bit difficult to communicate, but they were friendly and accommodating nonetheless. The first time also the last time for me to come here. Because I like Geoffrey Bawa’s architecture and have heard about this restaurant, I came here for the first time. Atmosphere, vibes, architecture, layout, etc. All were good but only one thing that made me so disappointed. It was the service, especially the waiter who served me on that day. First of all, I ordered charcoal chicken papaya salad. But he gave me charcoal beef instead 🙂. Then, I told them that I had not ordered beef because I did not eat beef. I had ordered chicken. But I was shocked when he tried to fight back to affirm that I had ordered beef , not chicken. Oh my goodness!!!! He was wrong and showed as an unprofessional bad waiter at the beginning when he had not reconfirmed the customer’s order after taking my order. I did not know what his name because all of them did not wear the name tag. Secondly, the papaya salad was okay but there was papaya peel in it.. the food was prepared very carelessly The price was expensive as a fine dining restaurant but I think it was not worthy of what I paid. Bad service! Bad server! Bad food preparation!

I've been a regular visitor to the Gallery Cafe, but my recent experience was incredibly disappointing. I had made a reservation to host guests for afternoon high tea, but the service was beyond horrible. Firstly, there was a mix-up with the menus, and we had to repeatedly request the high tea option. Even when we ordered, the server struggled to understand our preferences, despite using both Sinhalese and English. The beverage order was completely wrong after waiting for more than 30minutes. After a long wait of over an hour, we received our food little by little, and even then, it was a challenge to identify the dishes. It was important to identify the food as half of the people were vegetarians and a fact that we have informed them in advance. While the food and beverages were delicious, the level of service quality was unexpected at Paradise Road. The experience was uncomfortable, and we didn't feel welcomed due to the mishandling of our order. I hope steps are taken to rectify this situation.

I went there after a long time. Nothing much has changed including the menu. The service was very attentive as usual but I thought my plate of fish was bland. My local colleagues who selected vegetarian dishes were not impressed either. However, the foreign guests enjoyed their plates. Perhaps the cafe caters the foreigners, not the locals.
