Nice vibe. One of best customer care. We ordered lobster ; they were good. They helped us choosing. A bit expensive, (it’s lobster 🦞😁) cocktails were also good. We had good experience. If u went to try good sea food , I’d say this is a place .

The Lagoon Experience of a Lifetime!! From prawns that danced on my tongue to fish so fresh it swam free in my mind, this place reeled me in. Crabs cracked & lobsters steamed, all perfection. A feast for the senses! If you are looking for a quality food and fine dine, this is the place for you. Perfectly prepared with the balanced blend of spices.

I came to the Lagoon restaurant to try their lobster. I managed to clinch a reservation for around 8 pm and they seated me at a corner table (since I was solo), away from the main action (I was not too happy). The seating areas are spread out, both inside and outside (by the water). The entrance to the restaurant is one floor below the main level, by stairs, and the outside within the hotel complex. I started with an appetizer of spicy fried sprats. It was superbly cooked, a nice balance of optimum crispness outside and tender meat on the inside. Came with a spicy sauce, which I hardly used because I preferred the flavor of the sprats by themselves. To order your main selection of seafood, one walks over to the main display of various varieties of seafood on ice. The selection is less than this restaurant’s main competitor (I will leave you to guess which one). Choose what you desire, it is weighed in front of you and you can get an idea of the cost. Then choose how you wish it be prepared. Numerous options in style, with suggestions on which type of seafood is best for which choice. I had selected a lobster to be prepared Thermidor. The meat was tender, and the sauce thick, with a mild flavor. But. I do not think the dish was completed. Top grilling is needed to provide browning or slight charring on the top, so that there is a contrast in textures and a heightened flavor. This was absent. I ordered mashed potatoes as the accompaniment. It had the consistency of a thick soup with no taste of potatoes. I could only have one spoon of it. They overdid the consistency. Service was very slow, but good.

The Lagoon is the best seafood restaurant in Colombo. Great place for a family dine in and to enjoy a cocktail. Lobster thick curry, Lagoon Crab curry, and Fried hot and spicy prawn were superb. Authentic Sri Lankan style Kankun dish and the rice were nice, and the choices were perfect. The price was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

What a brilliant seafood experience. Here you get to choose your seafood straight from the raw selection, and they cook it for you. The food is delicious and you can pick whichever fish or crab you want. I loved it. Great drinks selection as well and service was second to none.

One of the best seafood restaurants I have ever visited. Located in Cinnamon Grand Hotel. Excellent ambiance. Sea food display in the restaurant and you can select the one you prefer. Then cooking method can be choose from the menu. Lot of sea food available and its fresh. Food was delicious. Excellent customer service. Couldn't ask for more. If you are a sea food lover you should definitely try this place.

I definitely did not have a good experience. The only good thing about this place is the taste of the food. They were really tasty. If it wasn't for that, I will not consider returning. Ambience: no decor to indicate it's a sea food restaurant. The background noise was so loud and ugly, we felt like we were in the haunted house at carnivals. Since diners couldn't hear what they were speaking, they were all speaking loud giving the feel of a fish auction place. Definitely not an atmosphere that induces appetite. Customer service: Needs great improvement. Since their ordering system is different, first time customers don't get guidance on how to order. The servers only take orders for appetizers. We are told to give the rest to the fish counter. Here too they do not tell us that mains, sides and or deserts have to be given to them. We are left asking around and waiting for people to come our way to ask whom to order what. There is NO transparency. Although they say they charge by the weight, they actually charge by portions. Even though my daughter took half the quantity of prawns ordered by me, we were charged for 2 portions, which was quite misleading.

The Lagoon at cinnamon grand is one of my favorite seafood restaurant. Family friendly place very clean and with good service. Good ambiance and flavorful food. Although bit on the pricy side for a 5 star hotel restaurant it’s reasonable for the quality, service and the fresh seafood you get. If you order send I lay you can eat well for a very good amount. All seafood prices are mention per 100grams you should then select the preparation. And there appetizers are good too. I make sure I always order the sushi platter and the oyster platter. Of course I personally prefer the fresh oysters with lime and the hot sauce but when I go with family I order the bake oyster versions which is also greatly good with Parmesan. Another must is the peeled prawns in Thai red curry, then small cuttlefish in tamarind sauce, fish fillet in Thai green curry sauce and others depend on the day and mood as they have a huge variety of seafood and some days they have special stuff like lagoon crabs which are really good and then lobster and many more. Price 4:5 Place location and ambiance 5:5 Quality 5:5 Service 5:5 Taste 5:5 Overall 4.9 out of 5 Highly recommend to anyone who loves seafood. Tip: order sensibly don’t rush or get too excited study the items and order in proper quantities and limited items if you want to have a good meal for reasonable price. If your not on a budget you can enjoy without a concern.

Had to try this place for the Lobster. Prices were the standard for a 5 star dining experience. You pick your seafood and tell them how you want it cooked. The waiters give good recommendations as well. Lobster Vietnamese style, snapper Thai and butter cuttlefish all hit the spot with some fried rice. You will need to book ahead as it gets busy. The indoor and outdoor setting was stunning to say the least.

I had an exceptional seafood experience in both Sri Lanka and Dubai. The quality of the food was outstanding - served hot and incredibly quickly, which is impressive for a high-class restaurant. Chef Sanjeewa, who hails from a village, has a remarkable talent for balancing flavors like salt, chili, and sourness. His skills are truly magical. The manager Mr. Ishara. also stood out for his hard work, approachability, and humility. A big cheer to everyone there! 🍻

Always the best seafood experience in Colombo! Green curry jumbo prawns .....always winning.... good hot butter cuttlefish too.... Scallops Cray cray!! Baked Crabs Delish! Whichever way you choose to have your seafood.... it is cooked to perfection.... it is pricey.... bt the taste makes it worth it. Beautiful setting too.... with the fresh seafood on ice in the background. Brilliant variety of good quality seafood.... :)

They were kind enough to find us a seat even after initially saying they were fully booked. The food had very interesting and unique flavors. The ambiance was great.

Not so wow like it used to be. Food quality & quantity can impove drastically for the price they charge. I must say no value for money. Friendly staff and manager. Compared to other outlets at the hotel I would say "The Lagoon" has lost it.

We visit this truly amazing place for lunch and it was more than impressive. After a warm welcome from Chamal and the others we got a nice table. The Location is such a beautiful Ambiente. The food was more than tasty and everything we got was fresh, nice arranged and delicious. Chamal and the other waiters did a outstanding job and take care of us in a special way, like we are royalty or something like this :) This was our first meal in Sri Lanka and we will don't forget it. Probably the best seafood I’ve had anywhere. The spices are amazing, the staff incredibly friendly. And the value for money is top. Definitely try all the local curries, as for recommendations, and trust them. Thank you for the hospitality

My new favorite restaurant. The food and service are outstanding. My favorite was the Modha (Barramundi) fish. It comes filleted, and we had it steamed with chili and lime, upon recommendation by the gentleman who was taking our order. This restaurant was so good that we came back two days later for more and are already planning our next trip to Colombo, so that we can eat here again.

Great selection of fresh seafood, many types of preparations. They have a lot of different types of seafood, we went for the steamed red snapper. Prices for fish are all around 1000 rupees for 100g. You can choose many different kinds of preparations like European, Indian, Sri Lankan and Chinese style. The fish was very good, but they could have added more lemon sauce. The side dishes are also great. The seafood pineapple fried rice was outstanding, the fried vegetables in a butter, garlic and oyster sauce was great as well. Pasta in cream sauce was alright for a side dish. Add a fresh Lion beer and you are all set. Be aware of the added tax and service charge at the end. The food is not cheap, but totally worth the price. And the chocolate you get at the end is worth 1000 rupees.

The food was awesome, staff was very busy but helpful and very courteous. A recommended place for seafood lovers with a star class service. I would suggest to make an early appointment if you want to fine in here.

Been there during December 2018, with my wife. Definitely the best fish we have had during our Sri Lanka tour. Fresh fish and very well prepared dishes; they also have good wines, and desserts are really good as well. Friendly staff and informal environment. High quality for the price. Recommended.

One of the best restaurants for sea food in Colombo city. They have vast collection of sea food and pretty varieties on the menu too. Best part is to enjoy a romantic dinner on the glass top private dinning area in the middle of the trees and small koi pond sorrounding.

Overrated place. Feels more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. The service leaves much to be desired. I ordered whiskey, and it wasn't delivered. Ordered again, and they brought the wrong one. The food is average but very expensive. I'm disappointed and don't understand where all these high ratings come from? Have people not seen proper service?

This place is a truly 5 star establishment. Export quality seafood. Prepared like no other place. The concept is seafood bar, and styles range from Sri Lankan, to Thai, Japanese and more. Service staff are possibly psychic, because they already know what you need before you can ask for it and have it at your table. Clean and Socially distanced. All staff in masks etc. Star dishes... Starters : Fried sprats, Chillie garlic crusted scallops, Tuna and salmon sashimi, baked crab served in shell Mains : Tamarind Cuttlefish, **Medium prawns in Red curry**, modha fish steamed with lime and Chillie Everything is customizable, spice level, preparation style and portions. Great wine selection, even by the glass. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. Meal for 3 was under USD 100, with 3 glasses of wine, which included everything above. Bon Appetite!

The food was good, unfortunately that was the only positive thing about this restaurant. It was so noisy inside so we couldn’t hear each other. The biggest surprise came with the bill where they charged us 31% more for “taxes and service “ !!!!!! On the menu they say charges are 10% + some other taxes but cmon guys 10 and 31 is a huge difference! We confronted the waiter and he says charge is 15%, but we argumented that of you do the math, this is not 15%. He said that the machine just printed the bill like this. So I advise you to avoid this scam. You can get same good seafood in other places 10x cheaper.

Back at Lagoon after a very long time. They didn’t disappoint. Still one of the best restaurants in Colombo as it used to be. We ordered multiple cuisines and each were authentic with a Sri Lankan touch. Absolutely enjoyed every mouth. Thank you for keeping it real Lagoon!

Fantastic Seafood Variety with Excellent Service: The Lagoon at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo offers tasty seafood with a wide selection to choose from. We loved being able to pick fresh seafood from the shelf and have the chef prepare it to our liking. The service was top-notch, although reservations are necessary due to the high demand. While prices are on the higher side, it's worth it for the quality and experience. The restaurant can get crowded, but parking is available. A must-visit for seafood lovers seeking a delightful dining experience.

A group of us (12 people) went to the 12-3 pm Saturday buffet which was LKN 6,500 per person. The food was amazing and the staff were attentive. There was a wide selection of seafood, curry's, noodles and desserts. I would recommend this and will be coming again next time I'm in the country.

Went there for a dinner, Food and the vibe was ecstatic. Grilled seafood platter was delicious. Favorite was the Jaffna Kool soup. Mr. Sanjeewa's service was pleasant and excellent throughout the meal serving. The barman Mr.Savindra too did serve in such a pleasant way. Will surely visit there sometime soon

The fish and seafood bar is wonderfully welcoming at the center of the restaurant. As if in a fish market, one just simply picks raw food and chooses the way to cook it, with great advice from the restaurant team. The chefs prepare it on the spot for you to taste in just a few minutes. Having gone to the place several times over the years, the standard has been maintained, and it's always a real delight to return. Friendly waiters and management also help make this experience a real reference of seafood at Cinnamon Grand.
