I can recommend this for a great Chinese food which carries on ideal Chinese taste as Srilankans prefer. Nice ambience and cozy atmosphere. Their service is great and very well served. Menu holds much varieties and can recommend this place for a great meal

This is the signature Chinese restaurant of The Taj group of hotels. The food here is good however slightly fine tuned to the Indian pallet. This makes the food slightly on the spicier side if that's what you like. The desserts were a big let down, The mango pudding had absolutely no Mango flavour, the spicy figs with Ice cream were over spiced. The interior of this place is dated and not well maintained, with torn curtains, and dusty furniture. The staff is definitely not trained and understands limited English thus making a mess of the order occasionally. Overall it's pricey for the kind of service provided.

I visited golden dragon for a dinner with my wife. Place was really good and clean. Even though it's COVID 19 time period, place was almost full. We ordered soups, fried rice and desserts. Food was really tasty. Deep Fried Ice Cream was really good. We ordered mango pudding as well. We didn't like that much. The soups and fried rice was really good but can't remember the names now. Staff was also really friendly.

Back at this restaurant for Sunday lunch and it was great! All the dishes were good and the service was excellent!! We were there by 12.30 and the food arrived within half an hour! Not crowded at all either.

Truly 5 star Chinese food experience ! Luxery Chinese restaurant inside Taj Samudra hotel. Great food! Beautiful restaurant! Beer 🍺, wine 🍷 or any hard liquor 🥃 available. Soups are nice. Fried rice 🍛/ Sichuan Chicken/ Noodles / belly pork are highly recommended! Staff is very much attentive and helpful.

Service is top notch. Vibe is calm. Food is good and thr value for money is ok given that its a restaurant at a star hotel. However, Price of desserts is far too much for the tiny potion given. Overall its a good place to enjoy a good chinese meal.

The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing food and service. Staff were extremely knowledgeable specially Mr. Eranda was very helpful and made great recommendations.

Had a wonderful time with my office mates in this amazing place. Excellent service and we maintained ambiance. Food was so yummy. Even though it is authentic Chinese the food was prepared to matching Sri Lankan pallets. There is a good variety of meats and vegetables were there in the menu. The "Taj beauty" mocktail was so tasty and refreshing. Most of the people said "fried lamb" and the "black chicken" was so tasty. "Kimchi" and the "prawn crakers" as well as the spring rolls and prawn toasts gave us a wonderful start to our meal. But are not really cheap but it fully worth when compared to other hotels on these days. Highly recommend.

Great food. Authentic Chinese food. It's a 5-star property and prices are also equal to their standards. The only problem I had with this place was the CAR PARK. We went there for dinner and I had to park my car in the parking area full of crows. If you care about the paint of the vehicle then this is the worst parking area to park in the night.

The food is great as is the service. The environment is not the best but is quite acceptable as the seating area is spacious thus ensuring that there is enough distance between tables.

Flavouful Chinese food, good service, beautiful setting, pricey, enjoyed the crispy prawns, kung pao chicken, garupa fish, egg fried rice, dumplings. Jasmine tea had a very nice fragrance .

From what I was hearing in Colombo, there are two top Chinese eateries. One of them is Golden Dragon, at the Taj Samudra. During my research, I was aware of this restaurant (and it was on my list). What was most attractive to me (on the internet), was that they had half portions for numerous menu items. Perfect (since I am not a big eater and was traveling solo). However, when I got to the restaurant and was handed the menu, the story was totally different. No half portions. Staff was surprisingly clueless about this fact. Another point before I forget, hours before coming here, I called the hotel and they “strongly” suggested that I make a reservation, even if it was for only me. When I walked in, the place was almost empty. Ha ha ha. So now, it was time to order the food. On the table there is complimentary prawn crackers, chili paste and Kim chi (I would say this is a Chinese version, a little sweeter and now my favorite over the Korean counterpart). For real food, I chose the Singapore Rice Noodles with Vegetables and the Fried Fish in Honey Chili Sauce. Both dishes were prepared extremely well. The fish pieces were battered optimally, served nice and hot, with the sauce perfectly balanced in bursting flavors, viscosity and mouth feel. The noodles were also done well, had good optics, cooked al dente, nice texture, with a distinct and satisfying taste. The service could have been better. The servers seemed preoccupied and were running around and it took time to attract their attention. It seems, when you dine alone, after the food is delivered to your table, servers move to more high density and more lucrative locales within the restaurant.

Came there for a dinner having pretty high expectations after reading many good reviews. The restaurant was almost empty with just two or three tables occupied. The waiter came up to take our order and while I was talking to him, he “played” with another waiter. The knife and fork on the table were dirty and I asked our waiter to replace them which they did. The food was okay but nothing special. Probably won’t come again.

Absolutely amazing Chinese fusion food, perfectly curated for a Sri Lankan palette. The staff and service was amazing, special thanks to kasun for going out of his way to make the night a memorable one.

Lovely place. Excellent atmosphere with high ceilings. Service was great especially Eranda who looked after us very well. As vegetarians lots of options and the team was flexible. Good portion sizes. Will return again.

From the moment we entered till the moment we got up Kasun was very attentive with us, he made our meal more delightful with his attentive gestures, checking in on us making sure we are enjoying our meal and seeing if we need anything else. Unfortunately, our experience was much below expectations and pre-Covid dinners we had here. Food was not prepared as per typical chinese cooking, peking duck was not crispy and also not served the right way, etc.... seems I habe beem here tha last time.

From the moment I walked in it was ultra wonderful service from every single attendant. Lasantha was my attendant who was absolutely eloquent with food suggestions, descriptions, conversation, and service. I ordered vegetarian foods such as the vegetable Singapore noodles with vegetables, low salt and no chillies. It came just as requested and tastefully cooked and presented. I also ordered the vegetable egg rolls which was delicious and crispy. They also provided me a complementary plate of vegetables which was really thoughtful. I ended it with lychee in ice cream which was really fresh and tasty. I had a great experience. It is definitely an overpriced place.

Very friendly Staff, Supportive and very kind. Keep up the wonderful service. Front Desk Managers are wonderful especially Nilanthi (hope I got her name right) and Mr.Asiri were absolutely genuine and extremely helpful.

The service was “exceptional”. Experienced true Sri Lankan hospitality in a long time. Food was to my liking as well, had an overall good experience with my Family. Exceptional service by Kasun, Eranda, Vijitha, Vajira, Dhanushka and Thilina.

Still hasn’t lost their touch ! Went for a family lunch. The ambience of the restaurant is amazing as it always has been. The food was amazing. Good sized portions and served on time. Had a few beers and good food with fam. Amazing service. Served by Kasun who provided us with a top notch service. And to top it off, the jasmine green tea really did complete the experience. Keep ip the great work !

May have gone on a bad day as most times the food is great. This time the jumbo prawns were hard and maybe not fresh. The rice was bland and just made without any care but the two staff members checked and corrected the dishes. Brought a new rice and prawn and that was tasted like they usually make it. The waiter who took our order only reappeared when it was time to pay the bill so he was the downer for our whole order experience as the food took over a hour for us to get as those who came after us had all received their meals. It’s time to repair your front doors as the handles are coming off. I’ll rate it high as most other times it’s really good.

Amazing top notch chinese food! Great service as well! Prices are $$$$, but great food and good quality!

On arrival the Golden Dragon restaurant was in darkness due to a power failure. We were required to wait around for approximately 20 minutes or so. The management could have appeased their many customers who were waiting around with an offer of a drink at least. Other than this small delay we enjoyed the evening. The food was excellent and the service was prompt and courteous. Look forward to visiting the Golden Dragon again.

The food wasn't worth the price. You could easily get something better for the half price from a comparable restaurant. The restaurant didn't have a lot of choice and seemed to be very impacted by shortages which is surprising because a lot of the other high-end restaurants weren't facing the same issue. Also It was quite depressing the restaurant was empty, maybe it was because of the quality of the food.

Good place to celebrate birthdays. Delicious food. The hotel is lighten up with many Chrismas decorations.
