The best buffet that I went sofar (Went to the Sunday Lunch buffet). The food was great and delicious. They had a good variety as well. The service was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The price is expensive cost around Rs. 14,000 for double with the taxes and the service charges. But it's worth for that amount. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a lunch buffet near Colombo. It's recommended to make a reservation before going there as the place were crowded. Maybe that's because of Sunday.

We went there for the Saturday Lunch buffet. They have a wide spread which is worth the price. What we didn’t like over there is I believe the buffet arrangement should be more organized. Food was delicious and staff was providing a good customer service. I had a small surprise cake to celebrate the birthday. If anyone looking for a good lunch buffet, Plates is ideal. However, place is crowded though might be because of the weekend.

Went for dinner buffet. I would say it's one of the best buffets that has something for everyone. Indian Corner and Sushi Corner are highlights of the day. They have a variety of meats and seafood items including whole crabs. Dessert Corner got a good collection, chocolate fountain, Rum pudding, Cheesecake, Curd, ice cream and the usuals. The buffet is worth the price here in my opinion. We ordered a variety of Mock Tail and the Pink Angel gives you the best experience, highly recommended. Service is good.

Visited for the Weekend Dinner Buffet, and the staff went the extra mile by arranging a complimentary birthday cake piece for our birthday celebration. Despite the crowd, the staff took excellent care of the customers. The buffet offered a diverse selection, spanning Indian, Continental, Sri Lankan, Italian sections, and a salad bar. While the food was good, it didn't reach exceptional levels of taste. However, the desserts were a standout, absolutely delicious. Overall, I would recommend this place for a meal, even though it comes with a slightly expensive price tag.

A good place for a authentic dining experience. Bakery 🧁 items are excellent here. There are stuff which are made out of passion fruit, they are really unique to here and really good 😊. There were different types of fish/ seafood dishes. I really like the taste of Sri Lankan dishes. When I was there, there was a mung bean curry 🍛, it was really great 👍

I went without a reservation & they immediately arranged me a table that was great. Their services were so quick as they have assigned more waiters in the peek hours. They immediately clean the table whenever we go for the mext round. However, the food varieties were very few and the quality & taste of the food was very low. Specially the meat items. But their dessert options was great and It was extremely tasty.

Tried Plates at Cinnamon Grand a year ago for a dinner buffet and didn't love how crowded it was. Tried the Breakfast Buffet this morning and WE WERE IN ABSOLUTE LOVE!! The spread was 10/10, the Ambience was 10/10 and the service was a 10/10 as well! And the buffet lasts a whole 4 hours, so you have all the time in the world to leisurely enjoy an amazing experience! Best Breakfast Buffet in Colombo so far! I'm definitely going back as soon as possible with family! Update! Tried the Plates breakfast buffet for the third time today 16th April 2022! It was still amazing!

We love this place. If you're looking for a Sri Lankan and American buffet, this is a perfect spot. Lota of options for desserts. They have appam, kothu, rice, meats, pastas, seafood, soups, all kind of breads, large options of desserts and more. Servers will take your orders and bring food to your table if the line is too long. Which is very nice. Everyone is genuine and great family vibe. Highly recommend for tourists.

The buffet at Plates is worth every penny you spend. They have a large food spread which covers different cuisines. The food is tasty and the staff is extremely attentive as well. Highly recommend this place and make sure you have a reservation before you go.

Excellent food and an excellent variety to select from. Referring to the Sunday Brunch. They have a video selection of quality cuisine like Chinese, Sri Lankan, Continental, Indian, Japanese and a lot more. However service leaves a lot to be desired. We were given a table on the outer area, the table was wobbly and we could barely sit right to make matters worse the place was warm and not properly air-conditioned. On requesting for another table we were told that all the tables wobble. (Something not expected from a place like Cinnamon Grand). This is at a time when most other tables were free. On insisting on a change we were offered a table in the restaurant next door. This was a complete put off. Overall I would not visit this place again.

Usually packed so better make a reservation before hand. Friendly staff, clean tables. They have a srilankan corner which serves hoppers, rice and curry ect. Tip. If you are a vegetarian then you are just wasting your money. Better check out nuga gama restaurant which has a buffet for just LKR2100net per person.

They had a vast range of international dishes and tastes were up-to the standards. On your birthday, they provide complimentary birthday cake too. It is hard to find the ranges they offer in other places for the money you pay. Surely deserves 5 stars

Its international buffet spread is very impressive. It has lot of choices to suit different palates. The roasts section and sushi section were very appealing. The desserts corner was amazing. The ambiance was pleasing. The presence of a large number of diners was a testimony for its popularity.

Plates in Cinnamon Grand is a super awesome restaurant with an amazing buffet. So many varieties to choose from. Awesome service and everything was delicious. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again.

We had a get-together there having separate places for those events as well like London Grill Hall, which had a nice interior and cosy setup. When it comes to the buffet it contains quite a lot of variety of foods and is delicious as well.

This definitely the best buffet I've ever seen. It has so many varieties and is so colourful! There are many cuisines to try out and each of the cuisines have multiple dishes to enjoy. This is one way to taste the food around the world without even travelling. It is around 6000 per person but considering the number of delicacies compared to other buffets which charge the same price, it is definitely worth it. Other than the food and their varieties, the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were very helpful even though they were busy, they punctually refilled our glasses with water, not like most hotels where the staff only refills at the start and not seen for the rest of the buffet. I mostly have these types of mini inconveniences like this but at plates, I had no issue at all!

The dinner buffet was top notch, and seconds to nothing better than shangri-La in variety abd the overall taste 😍. I really loved the Japanese cuisine section, it was exquisite. The dessert section was fairly okay. The chocolates were nice, but all the chocolates in different shapes tasted the same. It was nice to see, but I was not a fan of the taste. "With all due respect, I loved the chocolate sticks, but not the liquid filled once😬." To be honest, I have never seen chocolates on a dinner buffet at any five star hotel in Sri Lanka other than Cinnamon Grand. I loved the plain chocolate sticks, trust me!!!But it was finished and I never saw it coming again, so make sure to finish the main course fast to have those, or it may run out of stock😂😂😂 The food was great overall. I loved it so much. Definitely, no offence 😑, but it was better quality than the Waters Edge dinner buffet. Take a visit!!!

Absolutely love this place. The food variety in the buffet is so exceptional. We had the lunch and for me, the best part was dessert with a fascinating chocolate fountain. The whipped creamed items and different flavoured mousses are so delicious. Beverages needs to be ordered separately and they taste good. The staff is so polite and they'll take care of your needs throughout the session. The countless number of food selection is great for all the foodies out there.

I went for a lunch in a weekend with some of my friends. There were variety of food with stunning decorations. Actually we enjoyed it a lot. But here I'll list down my experience. Good Desserts were so yummy. Seasoned fish , honey ham, sweet and sour fish, a list of chicken meals were delicious. Oysters was fresh and great Sushi and sashimi was nice Lamb was well cooked and tasty Bad Pork chop and black pork curry was not fresh and it was hard to bite. Roasted chicken wasn't as expected Overall the staff was very friendly and pride a great service. The premises was clean and comfortable

They have a large spread with different types of cuisine. Sushi was a bit dry but overall the rest of the food was delicious. Very pleasant experience with attentive staff. It can get a bit crowded & expensive though!

The Sunday brunch at Plates is one of the best in the city. For 4500 nett you get an extensive selection of seafood and meat items. I couldn't try even 50% of the dishes because the spread is so massive ranging from lobsters, to oysters, mussels, baked crab, lamb, chicken, mutton, beef and so so much more. They even had iced coffee and a fruit juice and the service was also equally excellent 👌

We went on the 23rd of Dec and made a prebooking with full payment. But they didn't send an official confirmation, I had to keep calling to confirm. The buffet spread was good and the food was tasty. The biryani felt a little dry, the saffron rice was good. Paneer was excellent. Worth the price. There was live jazz which did wonders to the whole experience. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The best buffet in town with a biggest range of variety. Food is really nice. Need to use gloves provided to serve food which I believe is good due to the current health constraints. Chairs are quite comfortable for a restaurant where people will come and spend alot of time.

When it comes to the buffet - Buns corner - 6/10 Soup corner - 5/10 Salad corner - 8/10 Seafood corner - 8/10 Meet stations - 9/10 🤩 Nuts - 9/10 Cheese corner - 7/10 Pizza corner - 7/10 Pasta corner -8/10 Indian - 10/10 ❤️ Western - 7/10 Sri Lankan - 🤷‍♂️ Japanese -🤢 Dessert corner - 5/10 🫥 Biryani n lemon chicken curry was excellent. Good verity on seafood. Nuts collection was also beyond expectation. Though the dessert corner had a chocolate fountain, the other options had no variation. Most of the items were not refilled. Totally unsatisfied with dessert corner. It’s almost 0 to 10 when it compares with cinnamon lakeside’s dessert section. The service and hospitality is good but I cant say it was excellent. We had to ask several times to refill our glasses. They served the complimentary cake at the end. Cost : Standard price was 6800LKR at the moment, but with a credit card offer (Union Bank - 30%) it only cost 4760LKR pp for us.

I love Plates at Cinnamon Grand ❤️ They have some tasty dishes and very clean. The restaurant itself is quite huge and can accommodate a large crowd at the same time. The Food is a little pricey for a country thats hit with an economic crisis. But, if you want to enjoy some good food in a cozy environment, plates is the place to go. I would rate my experience at Plates Restaurant a 8/10 🎖️

Plates is the newest addition to cinnamon grand restaurants replacing the old taprobane. Plates could easily be the restaurant with the best interior. It simply looks fabulous. Plates offer buffets as well as Ala Carte meals. It's quite buys especially during the weekends so advanced reservations would be required. The food is always of the top quality and the service is also excellent. It was my first visit after the Easter Sunday bombings which destroyed the old taprobane.. So it was quite emotional.. Recommend to visit..!!

Awesome place for having a lunch out with friends, coworkers or family. Visited this place recently and was amazed with the range of food items they had. It was well worth the cost for the buffet. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Last time I went (last week) the buffet was not available and all other restaurants at the hotel were closed for lunch. Staff did not pay us (and some others) any attention until we called them out for the menu. Some ingredients(for soup) were also not available, so might not get what you ask. They also forgot to bring one of the main dishes we ordered. Thankfully the food was as tasty as usual.

Went for the Saturday lunch buffet. The spread was amazing and the food was delicious. However the highlight of the visit was the exceptional service. The service staff especially Anuradha really took good care of us and ensured we had a great experience. Keep up the great work!

Exceptional Service!! I made a dinner reservation from overseas at the Plates restaurant on my mother's birthday which was on 7th December. The service they had received from the staff was beyond exceptional! The staff have treated them really nice and have added their best wishes for the birthday as a complementary cake with beautiful wordings written on it. Special thanks to the staff who were on duty on that day and of course for the very kind hospitality. The food had been delicious with a lot of varieties to choose from. I will definitely visit Plates restaurant when I will be in Sri Lanka and thanks again for making my mother's birthday extra special.

Highly recommend the bubbly brunch on Sundays from 12-3pm, the variety of food is incomparable and delicious. Free flow champagne was included as part of the price and the waiters were attentive in topping up our glasses. Even the dessert spread itself could be it's own buffet!

NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. Not worth 4000 rupees at all! Spread is really not that good, and even though they had a moderate options for starters, the mains were extremely disappointing. Only few options and trust me when I say they hardly even tasted good. Only Sushi and desserts were acceptably decent. Definitely regret going here and would not recommend at all
