This is a famous sri lankan biryani place since ages. The place is very old and now the ground flo wasor is under constructions. The first floor is available for dining and I felt it definitely need some maintenances. Food seems okay and have a very unique taste. We have ordered biryani,soft drinks and desserts for 5 people and the bill came around Rs:4400. So the price seems reasonable. We went there on a Saturday evening between 4-5pm. It was averagely crowdy but we were able to find a table easily. Service is good and they have a separate take away outlet.

One of the oldest and most known Muslim restaurants in Colombo. Popular for the authentic taste, specially biriyani. We used to love the roast chicken biriyani in the good old days but not anymore. But still we try it once in a while to refresh our nostalgic memories. Hope to see a refreshed and revived business probably under a new management soon.

Ammoo colombo. Every biriyani lover in colombo area know this place. Best meals for very reasonable price. One of the best places to eat in colombo area. They have huge queues at meal times. Specially in the lunch time. I love their watalappan. Very delicious and fresh. They Give you a huge piece of meat , Chicken curry and sambol with biriyani portion. Recommend to anyone.

As of 8th January 2024 Overrated place. I don't know why people keep suggesting this place for biriyani. Biriyani was not price worthy at all. It's not very tasty. Chicken was dry. Salad is not fresh and does not taste well. The portion is very small when compared with the high price tag. It's ok if the food was good, but the biriyani was also terrible. There are many fairly priced delicious biriyani places around Colombo. Staff was not friendly at all. I had to wait 20 mins just to get the attention of a staff member. The tables weren't clean. Even they took around 15 mins to bring the bill. Not recommend as of 8th January 2024

One of the oldest standing hotels in Colombo, and been popular with locals for decades. Hotel De Buhari is known for their delicious Biriyani with chicken and some traditional desserts like watalappam. They are known for Biriyani and that's what they make. No variations or no other menu available. The restaurant has two floors of seating and is located in a convenient place on Panchikawatta road. Parking is limited but you could find space along the road side. They have a snack shop on premises providing some short-eats as take away. The food is great, as it has always been, but the appearance of the interior could be improved.

Place is very popular among the locals but the standard of food is questionable. Now the prices are increased but the portion size is not adequate. Can’t say much about the taste but definitely behind the Elite Indian Restaurant.

Hotel De Buhari is really famous on their buriyani and they also got really tasty watalappan too. The hotel one of the oldest buriyani restaurant in Colombo and got great history. One of the best place to visit if you are buriyani lover.

Still the best Masala Chicken In town ! Cleanliness could certainly improve but on its day the Faluda the Masala Chicken and Wattalappan are the best !

They used to be better and much more cleaner than this but right now I don't like that way they're going. Last when I was there I got a plate with leavings and oil marks on it. Buriyani okay. Not not much as good they served few years ago. Even service is need to be improved. Recommend theirs Chicken masala buriyani. if youre average eater dont go for full version half portion enough for satisfied meal. For the price gettings here really satisfied. Place need to be more clean than this. Recommend.

Very disappointed on the service of the waiter. Hesitated to provide the bill and got the bill after an argument. When checked the bill, he has add-on an extra water bottle where we had not consumed , when questioned he rudely spoken, refused to refund money. Their standard buriyani is not bad (food was OK but due to bad customer service experience I ever had from young waiter I rated this as minimum)

Biriyani is very popular here with Masala Chicken. Uniquely tasty and it's been there ever since I first tasted in the 90s. Located besides Elphinstone and opposite to Maradana Station. Tasty food, Watalappan are ready to serve. Food hygiene is good. Friendly staff. Affordable prices. Parking available only for few vehicles, so go early or find a parking elsewhere.

Average priced biriyani place in Maradana. Taste was okay but it was not worth the price. They even charge extra for condiments. This place isn’t very clean though air conditioned. Washrooms are worst. No sufficient parking.

Used to be one of the best snd trusted places around the area. But place has aged over time and still deliver some tasty and savoury biryani and nibbles.

Actually Buhari is Named for Biriyani..... but really we missed that just we order for biriyani and we got Biriyani Rice with Fried Chicken... We order Biriyani but they served with Chicken But the Staff who served is replied and argued so just we take it in parcel.... really we ...............

Food was good but not good as expected. Chicken piece was ok. But the price is not worth for 990/= Rupees. Service was good. They need to improve the tasty, presentation and most importantly portion size which should be valuable for the amount people are paying.

One of the worst Biryani I had. It’s was yesterday. Because of the price I thought it would be good. How bad you ask? I think too kind to say “that chef have never tasted a real biryani.” It’s a scam!!! Don’t even ask about it’s portion size 🥣

After a tiring day, we built an appetite for Biriyani / Buriyani (that’s how it’s called in Sri Lanka) and there’s only one that can satisfy our craving. HOTEL DE BUHARI has been around since 1921 and built its reputation and the name is passed down from one generation to another. The best bit - the flavour remains the same. This is a well known and popular Biryani restaurant located close to the heart of Colombo. Super fast service and friendly staff.

Typical biriyani taste. No reason to not for recommending. Note: If you don’t want to pay water bottles, sit on a ground floor table. If you choose a table on first floor you can’t ge the normal drinking water you have to order bottles 😇. Available limited parking only

If you are looking for a Buryani arround Maradana ,Panchikawatte,It is readily available here,they are pioneers in making buriyani over years at affordable price.And don't forget their cup of watalappan after the dish.Seperate take away store available for pastry items.
