Japanese cuisine with familiar taste. Food is really tasty and portions are quite satisfying and fair to the price. Place is little and bit of packed. But overall customer service and their staff is very friendly. Recommended!!!

A nice small place to have sushi. Their portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable. Their hot lemon tea was my favorite beverage and salmon crunch rolls were the best. Really loved their service. Highly recommended.

The place is compact and has spacing limited customers. But it was not uncomfortable or anything. Parking could be a hassle as they have dedicated parking only for 3-4 vehicles and everyone else has to park by the road. Food looked nice and tasted ok for the most part. okinomoyaki was ok, but I didn't like the ramen as it didn't look or taste anything like an authentic ramen. The rice in katsudon and chicken katsu rice wasn't that sticky and it was difficult to eat with chopsticks. Everything else was good. The staff was friendly and responsive. The price wasn't bad either.

A quiet place to enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine, mainly a large variety of sushi. Their prices were reasonable, though i feel portion sizes have gotten smaller over time. The staff was friendly. Would recommend they change their opening time to the actual opening time of the restaurant, as the staff said that they don't open at 11AM, like google maps specify. Its slightly inconvenient to have to walk some distance to another building to use the restroom, which was also quite small. I enjoyed the food and the general ambiance. There is parking for at least 4 vehicles. I'm complaining only because this restaurant is in the heart of Colombo, and they might need to step up their game and go from good to great. With that being said, i do recommend this restaurant to any sushi fanatic.

Absolutely loved the sushi. Especially the Crispy Red & Tuna salad sushi rolls - they are absolutely mouthwatering. We loved it so much, we asked for another portion. We also enjoyed their rice options - portions are generous and taste great. Servers were really helpful when making selections and very enthusiastic. Can't wait to go back!

Reasonable prices, Fresh, Portions are small so you better order 2-3 portions, My favorite was Takoyaki, Staff is friendly and serve you on time. Really good service even with busy days. There are two Sushi Kai's both are beside each other.. If the 1st one is full you can go to the one beside (which is smaller) Would come here often with friends to enjoy Japanese Cuisine and to chill.

There are two locations here at Sushi Kai and you can find parking at only one location. So better to come at a time where it’s not crowded. This has been my go to place for fresh Sushi and Sashimi in different varieties which they offer in the menu and have always loved the ambience over there. We normally dine at the establishment with only the ground floor and I would say that as for Japanese cuisine, the prices here are reasonable. Staff is friendly and serve you on time. Really good service even with busy days. Limited vegetarian options as the menu mainly revolves around sea food.

Excellent food as usual and great value for money. Very happy to have chosen Sushi Kai to have the last dinner of 2021. It was delightful to see Dulaj at the Jawatta location after long time, he is a true asset to the restaurant, always goes out of his to give customers a good dining experience and make people feel welcome.

Had nigiri and sashimi. The seafood is good, tasted fresh. The sticky rice was horrible, at one point I doubted if it was really sticky rice, that tampered the entire experience. The staff is friendly but need lot of training. Recommend doing take out instead of dine-in.

The place is nice and cozy. However, they took more than 40 minutes to serve the food. The food was tasty. We asked for the seafood noodles with only prawns, and it was really packed with prawns. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I didn't like the chicken katsu curry so much because the curry was sweet, but I believe that's how it's supposed to be... The portion sizes are pretty good. Will come back again.

Food seemed fresh and variety to choose from, definitely a place to try out if u wana explore sushi. Do mind your wallet though I’d give 6/10 for price for value .

The Katsu Don was way too sweet. No complains about the portions. The best seller sushi (Crispy Red) was good. Chicken dumplings were average. Update 02/02/2024 I would recommend Kai Glass if you would want a lemongrass-ginger fusion. Lime and mint ice crush if you want something to cool yourself on a warm humid day.

One of the more affordable sushi joints in Colombo. The food was tasty and fresh and the value for money is definitely higher than in other places I've tried. I tried the chicken karaage curry rice, the curry of which was thick and flavorful, with fresh vegetables chopped into it. The rice was fluffy and fragrant and paired well with the curry and the included generous serving of karaage. I also tried the Crispy Red and Karapincha Dragon sushi rolls (shown respectively in the video) both of which paired well with the included helping of wasabi and soy sauce. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you have a sushi craving.

Sushi Kai boasts a diverse menu featuring an array of Japanese delicacies. During my visit, I opted for takoyaki, curry rice, yakisoba, and ramen. However, the ramen's eggs, arrived hard-boiled instead of soft-boiled, slightly detracting from the anticipated taste and texture. One point to note is the extended waiting time for orders. Despite minor hiccups, Sushi Kai delivers on the taste of Japanese cuisine, offering a satisfying experience for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts seeking genuine flavors.

First impression on the atmosphere was good. They have a new building (separate location from the kitchen). No condiments available on each table, only soy sauce and napkins. I had chicken ramen for 1700 LKR, had to ask for chilli powder and soda (small bottle) for 220LKR. The broth in the ramen was rich, but not oily and flavorful as authentic ramen if chicken stock is used. The noodles are overcooked. Boiled eggs are overdone, it's supposed to be half boiled. I would come back if I'm really craving. Overall still pleasant.

It was good, atmosphere was calm and peaceful, service was fast. Sushi was excellent. I would recommend this place for others too. Ingredients were fresh and presentation was nice too.

Superb authentic Japanese foods in the entire island for sure. Specially try the entire range of Sushi and you won't get enough of experience!

First of all: Go check it out! At the moment it's my first choice for a "sushi" place! You can eat it there or order it, so big + point. The Service staff is really friendly but a little slow(not talking about the kitchen). The food comes rather quickly and they have a nice selection of different dishes. Oh yeah, the restaurant has multiple 4pax tables, so check with them if they have space. It's often packed. So check it out! I will go there again ✌🏾😁

Awesome place! Polite team, good atmosphere and delicious food. We tried Red Cryspy, Baked Salmon sushi, Ramen vegetable and miso soup. Delicious, cooked quickly. After 11 minutes, the first course was already served. Loved the lime juice! Good luck and prosperity. Prices and quality meet expectations!

Hands down one of the best sushi spots in Colombo. The staff is quite pleasant as well. For a sushi novice as myself a couple of years ago who didn't like the idea of raw rish the "Crispy Red" at Sushi Kai changed my entire perspective. Now Japanese is one of my favorite cuisines.

This sushi place produces very delicious Food which were very fresh. Friendly staff as well. However there is a very limited parking space.

One of the best restaurants in Colombo. All sushi are tasty. Especially I liked vanilla and cinnamon ice tea, never tried before🥰

The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly, the restaurant is small yet spacious enough for a small group to sit and enjoy, and the music playing in the background was high energy. The restaurant serves no alcohol but you can bring your own alcoholic beverages which I thought was a pretty cool option. The only reason my rating is 4/5 is because prices have gone up significantly in the past couple years…which would be fine if the food and drink quality can match that price increase. However, overall I really enjoyed my lunch here at Sushi Kai, I will definitely come back again!
