Amazing local freshly made to order local Sri Lankan food. I went there twice today, breakfast and dinner. So delicious and flavorful. The employees are so helpful and kind. A GREAT restaurant!!!!

Pillawoos is the cheapest local restaurant in this very expensive area. It's clean and food comes quick. At breakfast you can get freshly made fish buns and samosas. But beware, their tea is super sweet. Their Paratha and Beef Curry is also good. I had the Chicken Cheese Kottu also, but I didn't like it. Enjoy!

My husband and I visited this place for the first day of our trip. We chose this place, because we wanted to taste local food for good prices. But prices…it’s a different story. Food was great! May be food was a bit spicy for tourists, but we were ready for spicy food. We asked the menu, chose food according to the menu and prices, ate the selected food and then…the surprise was waiting for us. The cashier gave us a check with doubled prices. It seems staff have a special attitude to tourist. And my review is not about prices, it’s about attitudes to tourists. Doesn’t it difficult to say us about higher prices in advance? It’s so easy to say “You don’t understand, we have the same prices for everyone”. Why does it look like a trick?

Very delightful meals at reasonable cost. Very effective service. Once we finished a dish the steward collected the plate then and there, without causing any disturbance. Atmosphere getting a bit busy because this has a regular customer base since the meals and service is at a high standard.

This might not look that appealing but trust me this Biryani is one of the best I've ever had. It is 950 LKR for a Large Biryani (this) and 750 LKR for the regular portion. This restaurant is self service and it gets very crowded during lunchtime. Highly recommended for anyone around Colombo Fort.

Been here a couple of times and only have had cheese kottu and egg rotti in a morning for breakfast. Yes. This Pillawoos (Note this one is not the Pillawoos on the Galle road. People seem to be mistaken.) opens around 6 ~ 6.30 AM and you can have breakfast items here. In the case of cheese kottu, not the best in Colombo, but it's not bad. Priced at 700LKR it is sharable among 2 hungry people. The place is quite crowded sometimes. The staff is fast and delivers the food to the table within like 10mins. Parking in the daytime is a hassle. You can park in public car parks around the fort(there's a one across the road towards the railway station). At the night, if you get lucky, you can park on the Chatham street itself.

Great restaurant in the center of the Fort. We are vegetarian and ate here twice. Breakfast was superb. The staff were really helpful and friendly.

I have reach this place several times and I have tried several dishes specially there cheese kotthu is the highlight of there dish but last time I tried it the quality is not in that standard. One of my favourite place to have food if I reach pettah but recently I'm disappointed with their serving even chicken dolphin kotthu was not ok but can manage to eat. I wanted to say that its not like before

Now they call it self service, but first you pay where you are treated as a customer, but when you go to get the food, you are treated as a homeless person requesting for food. But this doesn't apply for foreigners thankfully. Anyway the food is tasty and the best milk tea in Colombo.

You can have a avarage meal with an affordable price.at here you can have fried rice, kottu roti and other srilankan foods.

Low budget food. Good for take aways. Self service location . A bit crowded sometimes . Not ideal for couple outings. But good for have lunch or dinner if you dont looking for a fancy place. This is very affordable.

You should try Biryani which is available only for lunch and it is delicious. Cheese Kottu which is available for dinner is perfect as well. This is the best place to have a meal around this area.

Super cheap food and very friendly staff. Server advised us on what to eat, and the spice levels of it all so we knew what we were getting into. Mostly locals eating there, which is always a good sign. Highly recommend the kottu!

Kottu starts around 3pm so i was to early. I ate two snacks there and they were good enough that i bought two more for take away together for 4 pieces i paiied 360rs which is 1$. so very cheap for most europeans. On the picture is only what i eat there.

Typical pillawoos restaurant situated near york street. Both vegetarian options and meat options available. Only self service available. Cleanliness is also average. Overall good place for quick lunch breakfast or tea.

Incredibly affordable, and particularly local, but a definite experience everyone should have.

I don't know how much clean the kitchen is, but if you want some tasty foods at a cheap price then this one of the best places. They give a big tasty biryani for just Rs. 900.

Be very selective of what you order here. I had to order here as it was quite late that day when I came to my hotel which was near to this restaurant. Kothu is the least option to order here for dinner. The chicken in the fried rice and kothu was so dry. Apparently, I had to throw away and order food for UbereEats. Better order food from Uber eats, which is a little expensive, or choose another restaurant before 8pm as restaurants close down by that time and you have only a handful of options for dine-in.

Half of the menu wasn't available, but what we ate - Dhal and rice - was tasty. However, there was a guy who helped us order directly with the restaurant, but then wouldn't stop trying to make small talk and convince us to take a tuktuk tour to a temple for a festival happening that day. Thankfully we'd already ordered a tour, ND the guide said it was a con - there was no festival. On leaving the guy moved onto another tourist to con them. The management at the restaurant really need to get rid of him.
