This is not my first visit. But this place has improved in years. Nice Ambiance, crowded on a Saturday as expected. But they have enough seating to accommodate more people. The biryani rice is amazing. It's imported from their own farm from india as well as the spices they use as well if my information sources are not wrong. We tried Chicken 65 and Boneless Chicken Biryani, the rice is the same only the chicken pieces added in are different. Both are great. We also tried Mutton Chukka as recommended by them as special on that day. But disappointed with it, I was expecting slightly large pieces of fried mutton pieces but served with tiny pieces of mutton with more of other items. I won't recommend that for the price. Rice items and Non Veg items are between Average and Expensive side but vegetarian items are on average price. Compared to many similar places the drink options and vegetarian items like dosai are cheaper. Highly recommended if you want to try an authentic flavoured soft Biryani. Nov 10th 2023 Compared to similar places the price seems better. Portion sizes are adequate size(Not too much and not small)

The one of best Indian restaurant. Surrounding area is wide with good parking. The inside atmosphere is so good and they playing melody music. Biriyani and other dishes were so tasty and these are in affordable price range and reasonable too. Highly recommended.

Delicious food and rates are not too high compared to Junior Kuppanna. I was expecting meals, but they said meals available only from Monday to Thursday.

The biryani was nice and aromatic but the portion of the meat is really not what I expected. Taste wise it was good. Personally what I felt was there are other restaurants worth the price and quantity. I believe the heart and stomach both should satisfied.

Very average food, regular Sri Lankan Briyani is much better. Tried mutton Biriyani for my self hardly u find mutton pieces in that. Ordered extra fried fish. It was fried very old oil didn’t taste good. Only I liked about this place is their banana leaf plate and atmosphere.

One of the best places in COLOMBO to have a worthy Biriyani. So many disappointing biriyanis around colombo and Thalapakatti is the savior. The place is very spacious. The staff is very helpful and accomodating. The vibe is good. The delay between ordering and recieving the food is very impressive. No mixups or whatsoever. Overall one of the best experience and exceptional food.

You won't get the same biriyani taste anywhere else. We had egg biriyani and chicken biriyani; both were so tasty. The staff is friendly. The place has plenty of seating options, especially upstairs.

The restaurant Thalappakatti recently gave me the pleasure of dining there, and I must tell that it much above my expectations! The warm welcome I received from the helpful employees as soon as I entered helped to create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The menu featured a wide variety of traditional Indian meals, all of which were prepared with fresh ingredients and overflowing with flavour. I urge you to try their biriyani. The presentation was first-rate, and the cuisine was outstanding. Each dish was exquisitely decorated, displaying the chef's skill and attention to detail. The big portion sizes provided excellent value for the money.

Real biriyani taste is here. We’re purchased spc mutton biriyani, chicken boneless biriyani, mushroom paper fry, black paper chicken and spc faluda for us. Biriyani & black paper chicken are very tasty good taste of ingredients. Mushroom is an average taste not taste too much . There’s spc faluda is not typical it’s made with fruits, ice creams, milk and jelly.don’t worry about the price lots of item’s prices are below than 1000/=. Parking available.

Place to have a good South Indian food. Taste was good. Some times too spicy 🥵curry portion too small I mean gravy is enough but not enough meat inside. Place is clean, friendly staff. Good enough space for parking. Price bit expensive

Best food i ate in my sri lanka holiday in december 2023. Whata taste man. Omg that chicken i guess its grilled in flame whata taste flavour it has. The chicken byirani was good nothing special. And also the grilled fish was one of the best fish i ever ate in my life. The spices was excellent. I heard they bring the spices from india to sri lanka. Also the service was very friendly and quick. I'm really impressed of this food. But is really spicy but i liked very much. The food is for sri lanka very expensive for me (from switzerland) was definetly okay with the price.

The food was very tasty and the service they provided is very unpleasant. I have waited for the menu for more than half an hour and then I had to go and ask the menu by myself. To place the order I had to wait for some more time and then only called a person to get the order. I was seated in the first floor. I'm very disappointed with this. By the way the food is tasty.

Food is Awesome specially "Mutton Briyani" and "Mutton Nalli". No words can explain pure taste of the spices from Indian cuisine different taste. Price is damn High like a snoop dogg. Best to consider the price before you dine in

My expectations were not fulfilled with their lunch. My expectations were very high from its name but unfortunately could not reach. Even though Gulab Jamun has fragrant flavours which could be reminded of South Indian food.

I love this place and food there. Black pepper chicken is highly recommend.

Food was good the items we ordered era thokku and mutton varuval was top notch👌 service wise they were oki but can be improved with their PR, and while walking out when asked for mints they have stopped giving those sachet packets comp was little disappointed. the Management can consider atleast to give the mints to the table as per the head counts. All in all It was a good feast biriyani satisfying experience😋👌

This is one of my go-to places for delicious Indian cuisine. The place is a two storied building with various different seating arrangements suiting singles/ couples/ groups and families and the best part is its a place that doesn't give the feeling that you are in forever-busy Colombo city. The atmosphere is refreshing and there's a variety of selections including both veg/ non-veg options. Highly recommended dishes : Thalappakatti chicken biriyani, Thalappakatti Chcken 65 biriyani and especially the Prawn Manchurian is an absolute 10/10. Although, the beverages are not quite impressive and not up to the standard in taste. Still, I give 5/5 for food since the dishes were awesome. The menu card is highly appreciated where the veg/non-veg options, chef's recommended dishes are indicated. (*The menu card prices are as at late 2022) Overall it was a wonderful experience (except the beverages) and would definitely visit again.

As always, a go to place to enjoy indian food. Had the lime and mint cooler(drink), mutton rasam (soup), chicken biriyani (main) and carrot halwa (dessert). Loved the food. Recommended.

I have never had a biriyani like this anywhere in Srilanka. Perfect place for proper dum biriyani. Mutton biriyani was topnotch. Peices are very high but worth it. If it is chicken better go with chicken biriyani normal rather than boneless.

Spoiling the Brand Name of Dindigul Thalappakatti ....I have had it in India which was a delicious experience...here it was a worst experience in bambalapitiya branch Colombo. Even the street side biryani is way better... I ordered Mutton boneless biryani....but I don't know what pieces they give me.... Natty kozhi idichadu was way too much bony You decide by the pic... Service: Poor service, not even listening to customers... trying to sell what they have.... Overall don't waste your valuable money here.

The package is broken, and I am very disappointed. Raitha portions are very small, this pretty much seems like a portion that a child even won't eat. International chain, sucks to the core. I am regretting my decision every second, a waste of my money. Mutton pieces, full of oil, the curry, it sucks.

One of the best south Indian restaurant in the city for biriyani which is amazing and must try. Staffs are friendly and provide good service. We ordered kothu but not worth. In the starter items, hot & sour soup is spicy and good, peri peri chicken also good to try. Overall this place is recommended for the quality food with reasonable price.

We ordered mutton biriyani, butter naan rottees with mutton curry and chicken lollipops ( starter ) and all those meals were really tasty and way more than expected.That biriyani and rottees are one of the nest I’ve ever tasted. No any complaints about the foods but there was a problem about communication with waiters because their Sinhala and english speaking ability was really poor. Therefore we faced a kind of uncomfortable situation. Better if they can hire waiters who can speak either english or Sinhala in addition to Tamil.

Amazing! The best I have had in Sri Lanka The rice was cooked perfectly the Chicken(inside the rice) was also perfectly cooked. We really liked the flavors. The Rasam was mind blowing… Quantity was good. I got to say the Biriyani was overpriced.

Had a great experience with my friends. Highly recommended their Biriyani and Koththu varieties. Super amazing taste. Prices are bit more above average but compared with the taste and other factors it's reasonable I guess. Portions are somewhat smaller compared with other restaurants. You have the parking space there and upstair is still not open for dine in. Highly recommended for anyone who is willing to taste special biriyani along with other varieties. Better if they could improve their staff service a bit.

Ordered via uber eats. Chicken 65 biriyani is very tasty. But it lacks an egg and the raita is a disappointment. Gravy is tasty. Overall v The rice is very tasty and can eat without anything. Moving onto sechuan chicken fried rice it was very light and tasted good.
