I have visited this place several times and had almost all vegan options from their menu. The staff provides good service. The ambience looks really sweet and cozy. They accept credit cards. But all the dishes I have tried left me disappointed, probably because I had high expectations about the restaurant after reading many good reviews. I cannot say the food was bad, but it rather was just average. However, my friends who tried non-vegan options were satisfied with the food but still said “nothing special”.

Second time visiting this establishment. Was a bit disappointed by the fact the taste of the food was inconsistent (spaghetti dish). The service staff were nice and were helpful with us wanting to change seats to sit outside. However they lacked interaction to see how the food was and to check if we needed anything else. once the food was served no one came to check on us until we requested the check. However, our feedback was taken well. Felt the portions can be a bit bigger as well. The place is quiet with both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking might be a bit of an issue but the security outside was helpful. Will visit again while in Colombo and hope the taste of the food will be more consistent as that is the main reason one visits such an establishment.

excellent food and a perfect location for exploring little plants. There were a number of waiters but didn’t seem to be friendly. Also would suggest the coffee bar and the counter top be more organized and neat as it wasn’t giving a pleasant look. Food was definitely a 10/10. Prices are a bit high.

Love the atmosphere here. Even tho it's in the middle of Colombo once you enter it's so calming. Lot of greenery and the the aesthetic is lovely. Food vise we ordered a prawn spaghetti and a chicken quesadilla. Quesadilla was 10/10 specially with the gvakamole. Spaghetti was also good.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely cafe in the heart of Colombo. Most of their dishes are unmatched.  This easily became one of One of my favourite restaurants around town if not the best. If you are looking for brunch or lunch, look no further.

I had a fantastic experience at Cafe Kumbuk! The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was very inviting. It's a great place where both locals and foreigners can enjoy a meal together. The portions are incredibly generous, and the flavors are absolutely delicious. I tried their huge burger and a rice bowl, and I was blown away by the taste. If you're looking for a spot with great food, friendly service, and a wonderful ambiance, Cafe Kumbuk is definitely worth a visit!

Cafe Kumbuk was originally in Horton place where Seed Cafe now exists. Recommended through one of friends to try the Burrito Bowl and went around 11.30am. Was quite surprised to see that majority of the customers were foreigners who were having their brunch. Nice patio outside and probably an old house renovated and converted to a cafe. Food was niceand atmosphere was calm. Zero plastic usage is remarkable and was quite impressed. Portion size could be a bit larger. Overall great experience.

Had an amazing time at the cafe. Went for a work from cafe experience and had the best time working while sipping great coffee and enjoying a hearty meal. Sabeer was our server for the day and was an excellent caretaker for us :) Will definitely revisit!

We went for breakfast, but it was also possible to already get dishes from lunch menu. We got the mexican bowl, which was really jummy. The Humus bowl was also good, the taste of humus was like curry humus. Can also recommand to have a coffee :-)

It’s a wonderful place with the atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and the service is also good. Foods were delicious and the presentation was fantastic. Portion is not so big. Price point is a bit higher compared to others. Highly recommend their Pol Sambol Bread with Egg and bacon. Surely visit again.

I loved the place. Love the colours and very calm place to have some food. The food is totally worth. When you choose something it won't be easy for you. So it's better to ask for them before ordering.

Nice atmosphere. Food wise, I ordered a jackfruit bowl - average. The protein bar was pretty legit tho. Mango smoothie is also very good. Service a bit slow cuz they seem to be quite jammed.

Needed a place for breakfast and so glad I found this place. Tucked away in the Colombo 7 area and not too far from Independence Square and Viharamahadevi Park, this is a true little gem in Colombo. First of all, the decor and various plants make this place give off a tranquil vibe, which is perfect for a slow start to the day. A great, fresh menu, with numerous options for all. The coffee, which can be made with various milk substitutes was perfect. I would highly recommend the coconut cappuccino, which has the deepest coconut flavours. Good luck leaving without taking a million photos. Would recommend. 🤌🏿 Oh, and the music selection was what tipped if from a 4/5 to a 5/5.

Five stars all the way! I was looking for a coffee shop near the National Museum, and while this cafe is a bit of a walk (800-900m), it was completely worth it. The place is so lush and cozy with a lovely ambience that offers a respite from the traffic outside. The menu is very interesting and I ordered more than I needed. Service was impeccable, thanks to Omar who exemplifies quality service in a quality establishment. I'd definitely return! Oh and they have vegan/vegetarian options as well, besides a yummy selection of desserts. The Key Lime Pie came highly recommended but I opted for the Milo pudding and I was not disappointed.

Love the vibe of this beautiful cafe. They have the best desserts - Key lime pie is the best. It melts in the mouth which tastes heavenly. If you are a dessert fan, this is a must try! 🤩 Very friendly and attentive staff. Recommended to anyone who wants to chill with friends in a calm ambiance.

Firstly, the food took a long time to be served, which was a bit frustrating. Secondly, there weren't many vegan options available, which was disappointing for me as a vegan diner. Additionally, the avocado on avocado toast I ordered was not ripe and tasted quite terrible. The prices were also on the higher side, which was a bit of a letdown given the quality of the food. The beverage I ordered was overly sweet, which didn't complement the food at all. The wrap I had contained a lot of sugar in the sauce, which made it taste more like a dessert than a savory meal. On the whole, the food and drink options were not particularly impressive. Despite these drawbacks, the restaurant had a good ambiance and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. However, I would say that this restaurant is more of a place to hang out than to eat or drink. It was also challenging to find the restaurant as it was located down a gravel road. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was mixed. While I appreciated the friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff, the lackluster food and drinks left something to be desired. If you're looking for a place to relax with friends and enjoy the vibe, this restaurant might be worth checking out, but don't expect the food and drinks to be the highlight of your visit.

With a minimal aesthetic and a focus on local, organic and seasonal produce, Cafe Kumbuk serves up some quality food at a beautiful location. Tucked inside Horton Place, they share a space with Prana Lounge in an old colonial home. It's a great place to go unwind, read a book, sip on a smoothie and while away the hours. They've got tea, coffee, and some of the best juices you'll find in Colombo. They've also got a seasonal menu sampling from Asian and European cuisines.

What a cute cafe! We got avocado toast with extra poached eggs and chicken, breakfast burrito, iced latte, and tamarind kombucha and they were all delicious! Portion is not too big or small. If I were to stay in Colombo longer, I would love to come back and eat here again. Highly recommend :)

We sat outside for breakfast. The kids ordered breakfast burrito (our eight year old son can tolerate the spice) and a deconstructed breakfast for our fussy son. I very much enjoyed the avocado toast and husband enjoyed his BLT. The bacon was very good! Loved the ambience and decor. Would love to come back and eat at another time.

Had the hummus bowl with chicken and their famous key lime pie. They were fairly good portions, quite reasonable and pretty good. The chicken in the hummus bowl was very well marinated. The bill came upto about 9k for three people. The place has an indoors and outdoors area. There are Industrial fans to beat the heat but it's a place to visit when the environment is much cooler.

Wow! What a fantastic place! Their food is simply the best! I say simply because they use minimum artificial additives for your meal. You can really taste the purity when the full meal comes together. I would recommend picking from 'All day breakfast menu' their English breakfast is exquisite, and top it off with their Milo toast <3. The prices are quite reasonable, in compared to other places that fail to give you good flavour with raw ingredients. This is something I miss in many cafe's in Colombo :/ It has a good ambiance, and very relaxed vibe. the only downside is parking is a bit limited. But there is a guy called Lionel (I think) who is there to assist you. Good job on the menu Kumbuk :) Will visit again

Lovely ambiance, friendly staff, and great food. It's not your ordinary menu that you get in any other cafe. Got a good variety of fusion foods. Freshly made and with good portion sizes. Would love to see some cakes on menu to pair with coffee.

This place truly exceeded expectations with its amazing atmosphere and delicious food – it's a must-visit for anyone looking to unwind. However, for Muslim travelers, it's important to note that they don't offer halal meat options. Despite this, the breakfast provided is exceptional and definitely worth trying

The coffee and food are delicious, and the ambiance is quite cozy. However, the tables are a bit sticky or not well cleaned. Additionally, there's room for improvement in the service; one staff member could be a bit friendlier or, better said, avoid wearing such a grumpy expression.

We had an amazing lunch here. The food was definitely fresh and is beautifully presented. The staff made great recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed- surprisingly the vegan chocolate mousse was our favorite. It’s more affordable than other cafes and has a very cozy ambiance.

We hit the JACKPOT!! This is the best coffee we've had in Colombo, wow!! The Americano and Iced Mocha were absolute perfection! We are coming back for food tomorrow and will update. UPDATE: went back the next day and the food is just as amazing as the coffee!! 15 out of 5 stars. 🌟 Service is outstanding, baristas and servers are friendly! Google Maps takes you to the right place even though it feels like you're going down a private drive. I promise this isn't a paid ad haha we are just super excited to find such AMAZING coffee!!

We found this little cafe on instagram & finally got to visit in person! This cafe has it all - kind employees, delicious food & the perfect aesthetic to relax! We ordered the Dr. feel good green juice, mint & passion iced tea, & the vegan breakfast burrito! I have a feeling this is the type of place you could order anything & be blown away. The flavors in the breakfast burrito were delicious & im so glad they have vegan options! There’s luscious plants everywhere & the fans keep you cool. There are rooms you can book upstairs & a cute little boutique shop as a part of the cafe. This is a cafe you MUST visit when in Colombo. :)

One of the best chilled out spots here in Colombo. The ambiance and service right at the entrance is very welcoming. We went during quarantine days and safety measures were taken right before you enter the cafe. We went during morning hours to try out their breakfast menu. Food quality is good but tasted average. Not many variety on the menu to select but the food portions are pretty big. We ordered Avo toast and Omelet options with sausages added on. Both tasted average nothing special to order again. Also, we ordered a Berry smoothie, Latte and Iced Milo and these tasted good compared to the food. Pricing is bit too high compared to other cafes. Good spot to work + study as there is a peaceful out door area. Better if you can reserve before going as only few tables available. Parking wasn't available inside the cafe but parking facility available on the private road right in front of the cafe. Finally the service was pretty good with a friendly and supportive staff. Overall a great experience!

Here is my first sightseeing in Colombo and it was very inspiring and made me feel comfortable. I revisited Kumbuk the following week, and I ordered Hummus. But it is very salty for me. so I can’t finish after the first spoons.😅 But I usually don't put any salt on when I cook. I felt the opinion of salty taste strongly about Hummus, but the general people may be okay.

A lovely spot to hang out and have brunch; very comfy! In terms of criticism: The food is good but has room for improvement, and the knives were a tad bit too blunt so it was a bit tough to use. However, overall experience was enjoyable!

Place is not very bright as it is displayed in the photos. Vibe is not exactly very calm as well. This is sort of a household turned into a cafe. Food is good but not exceptional. Service is very good and people were very polite and friendly.

We were at Kumbuk one morning for brunch over the past week. It's a place we try to frequent too. The food was excellent , the atmosphere is lovely . The food is generally on the higher end in terms of price but that expected given the menu. Most of the staff; very sweet , courteous , polite and great service. All except the Manager- The man clearly managing the place has a SERIOUS problem with locals because he is so rude and seems very irritated that we are taking up space ( or something) He initially said there wasn't enough space inside. Then we kept telling us that there were more people coming in for reservations . Sort of to hurry us . We were there from 10-12 and let me tell you there was always space available for more . So why be rude ? I understand that it's encouraging to have foreign customers and patronage but do please remember that we are local and the return customers. Not them. I'm only to deduce that this is his problem because he just seemed so annoyed at us. Good thing the service stewards were incredibly nice . That manager needs a serious attitude adjustment and /or review of the ABCs of customer service. This was an example of just the most recent experience, I decided on a review and this has occurred a few times over. This was pretty surprising to us as the owner is all about quality control and good service. But the quality has to be over all. Including the people that are hired and their attitude.

Great little cafe with amazing food. Me and my friend went here for Sunday brunch and we had a really nice time. Their food is delectable with a good variety of options. Coffee is top notch as well, but what really stood out was their service. Sabeer was one of our servers and he treated us very warmly. I recommend this place and would visit again.

A beautiful place. A good choice for your breakfast or lunch. Very cool and pleasant atmosphere, super design inside the cafe and in the courtyard. Lots of plants and small interior details. Inside the cafe there is a small shop with clothes and interesting souvenirs. The cafe staff is very polite and friendly. And, of course, the food is incredibly tasty, as well as a huge selection of tea. You should definitely visit here and try a Naked Burrito Bowl and enjoy coffee or tea.

A cafe with an amazing ambience and island-vibes that makes you feel right at home. Food is the best I’ve tasted - perfectly balanced flavours with a Sri Lankan flare which I think is top notch. Over all, the staff is welcoming, attentive and friendly. 100% recommended!

Lovely cool relaxing oasis in Colombo. There’s a couch and cute garden terrace to spend some time enjoying the yummy healthy food and drinks. We especially enjoyed the sourdough avo toast and cinnamon shake. Our family of five spent a few hours here reading and checking up on work and emails while sipping on many of their unique beverages. I picked up a few unique items in their little store as well. Thank you!
