Really beautiful place to visit with loved ones. For parking you have to pay Rs.60/- (per hour) and to entering to wetland you need to pay Rs.100/- per person and get a ticket from ticketing office. Park is opened from 6.00am to 6.00pm. If you love to watch birds it's better to visit this place early as possible. Beautiful greenery everywhere and it's so relaxing to eyes.

Went there with my family today. Hadley found a Bird. Maybe it's the wrong season. Anyways we had a good walk around the place. Beautiful nature. Still, some people were not disciplined enough to carry their own trash as small as a toffee or chewing gum wrappings. I wonder how heavy those things are.

It was such an amazing experience enjoying the beauty and the serenity of nature in the middle of an urban setting. It truly looked out of this world. The parking area is big and there is a small shop at the entrance with food items. For a car they charged only 60 Rs for parking. Visitors are not allowed to take any food items inside which is such a good move to avoid environmental pollution. At the ticket counter they have placed a box to keep the food items which are brought by the visitors before entering the wetland park. The way to the park entrance is made with planted trees of a wide variety on either side of the track and this is good for school kids to learn about trees as they have placed name boards as well. The entrance ticket is only 100 Rs per adult. The park inside is having water all around which is less polluted than expected, and there are many varieties of fish to be observed. There is constant background music of the chirping water birds. Perfect place for photoshoots but needs prior permission. It is a must visit place however all measures need to be taken against environmental pollution by all the visitors in order to preserve this assest for our future generations.

Beddagana National Park in Colombo is an urban oasis, showcasing the city's dedication to green spaces and biodiversity. Serene and lush, it offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. With ample parking and easy ticketing, accessing this beautiful park is a breeze. Explore its vast expanse adorned with stunning flowers and diverse wildlife. Though I missed the butterfly walk and bird area, the park's natural beauty left me in awe. A must-visit for nature lovers seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of Colombo. 🌿🦋 #BeddaganaNationalPark #ColomboGreenSpaces

Discovering this Wetland Park in the heart of Colombo is nothing short of a pleasant surprise! It's a true testament to the city's commitment to green spaces and biodiversity. The park offers a serene escape from the urban hustle, making it a perfect spot to relax with friends and family. The lush greenery, coupled with the diverse wildlife, creates an ambiance of tranquility that's hard to believe in the midst of a bustling city. To access this urban oasis, purchasing tickets at the counter is a straightforward process. They have a huge parking space also.

A beautiful location just in Kotte. A must visit for anyone on a holiday. A casual stroll through the wetlands for 100 RS a head is just what is needed. If you are a photographer it would be an ideal location to spend a few hours waiting for some ducks, eagles, kingfishers, and a few other species of birds. You can definitely get a few good shots of dragonflies upclose and it would also be a great location to do a few creative shoots for people. Overall it was super fun and a lovely day to just walk about. Will defenitly revisit.

About 2Km walking area inside the park. They have built wooden path to walk on swamp areas. Ample parking with security personnel to protect your vehicle. They charge Rs. 100/- per person for the entrance. Mostly crowded with couples but nice to visit as family & friends too.

It is one of the best wetland park in Sri Lanka🇱🇰. Entrance fee is Rs100 per person. Best place for photoshoot📸. It is perfect for both friends and couples👫. People can sit on the bridge and feel the beauty of the nature🍀. Don't forget to bring water to drink as you may need that. Very beautiful place of nature with a calm environment🥰. Best time to come here around 3pm(either morning or evening) to avoid midday heat. There is a parking available outside.

This is a natural ecological zone found in the city of Colombo. A wetland experience is an environment that can be experienced with the naked eye. There is considerable area for walking. But the lack of rest areas is a weakness. Hand washing and body temperature checks and personal information have to be written down. Bird watching tower, wooden bridge and floating viewing platform are some of the highlights. But this floating platform doesn’t really float. Several species of birds were seen and butterflies were not. This place is perfect for lovers. However, it is imperative to follow the instructions given here. Not suitable for naming on rainy days. There is a separate charge for parking and toilet facilities.

Probably this is one of the highly visited wetland park in Sri Lanka. Both local and foreign people are visiting here. There's a bird watching area too. Bridal shoots and pre shoots are also allowed here. For local adults they currently charge 100/- and local kids 50/-. Foreign adults 1000/- and foreign kids 500/- A peaceful good location can be felt over there.

Beddagan Wetland Park is the most calm and quite park in Colombo area. Good place for watch some birds butterflies and samall animals as well. Do not forget an umbrella in rainy seasons since is difficult to find a shelter inside park. Difficult to walk through trails in rainy days since roads ged muddy.

The place is easy to access as it is closer to main roads. Beautifully designed and ideal for bird watching, wedding photography and for educational tours. Special permission is required for wedding/ preshoot photography and its recommended to arrange it beforehand. Maintenance is average and need improvements. Tickets counters will be closed at 5 pm and visitors have to leave the park at 6 pm. It’s hard to believe such places exist within Colombo and the nature is well preserved, calm and quite. Hats off for the effort.

A wetland park located in the middle of Sri Jayewardenepura administrative capital which is an ideal place to have an evening walk. There are pathways done by sleepers above the marshland as well as some footpath under overgrown mangroves. There is an elevated viewpoint in the middle of the park for those who are in favor of bird watching and even can see the surrounding area from there clearly. The facility is mostly famous among young couples but families are also coming there to enjoy their leisure time with kids. Also, this place is ideal for wedding photography but need to get approvals and pay a fee in advance. Ample parking space is available and the park is open for public on everyday from 6.00 am to 5.00 pm. Visitors needs to produce their national ID or the passport prior to obtain an entrance ticket.

Can see many Purple swamphens in the marshy area. Better if you come in the morning. This is a paradise for who loves butterflies.. 🦋 Leave only the footprints

A very unexpected, unique and refreshing experience less than 5 minutes from the urban sprawl. You are immediately transported to a natural, wild and near-pristine habitat. We visited on a Sunday evening, and the crowds weren't too bad. We often found ourselves on extended stretches of the pathways alone with our group. Just feet from you, it's easy to spot many bird species, butterflies, dragonflies, some type of servants in the water and wetland plant species only very occasionally ruined by an empty plastic bottle or beer can by the side of the of the pathway. Make sure to stop at the floating deck and the elevated hut must be perfect for birdwatching and just taking in your surroundings on an early morning visit. A barking dog, the sounds of traffic in the distance and a choon paan van may also remind you that you're actually in the "middle of" Colombo and hours away from the city. These don't take away from the experience and (hopefully) may prove how cities and nature could successfully exist side-by-side. And don't forget to check out some of the pretty fancy houses of those lucky enough to live along the border of the park. We arrived at 5.15pm (ticket sales officially stop at 5), but the staff were nice enough to let us in as long as we headed back out before dark. I'd recommend 2-3 hours to take it all in without rushing. Child-friendly with a bit of care.

Amazing place in heart of Colombo most of people don't know how to behave and protect these places, if your visiting these type of places don't make noise this is the only area for birds can live.. you don't like someone coming to your house and behaving like animal, so please behave like a human...

Wonderful place to spend the weekend if you are a nature lover. This is a seasonal wetland where you will be able to enjoy the beauty of nature. The tickets are affordable and the place is just amazing. You will be able to see different butterflies, mammals, plants, and birds. Some species are endemic to Sri Lanka and some are migrants. You should try visiting this place if you can. They even provide you the place for some photography events.

This place is a gem I recently discovered through friends who are also photographers. It is a great place for birding and dragonflies and to soak in some views for sure. I got there at 6:30 ish in the morning and was there till close to 9. I don’t recommend staying after that due to the harsh sunlight but during that time it is Gorgeous! Need to visit in the evening too! I will upload the rest when I get there again

Opened just 2-3 years ago, this wetland park has a lot to offer. On one side, it opens up to a lake, the mid-area takes us through a mangrove marsh on a wooden platform, further down that side is a forest walk. The other side is more of a dry land area with a collection of labelled endemic trees. Overall a great outing, and very educational for kids. Great to have such a place so close to Colombo city.

So I would love to recommend this place for children to have educational session and adults to have mind relaxation.

Beddagana Wetland Park is home to a variety of animal species. So much so, it invites over 50 species of exotic migratory birds, 119 species of butterflies, dragonflies and mammals to its flourishing swamp lands. Some of the migratory bird species are only native to Asian Wetland Parks. Avid bird watching enthusiasts could find themselves in a mini urban paradise here in Beddagana Wetland. Make sure to head to the bird watching tower for phenomenal angles. If you’re in Colombo during the weekend and you want a brief getaway out of town, the Beddagana Wetland area is the ideal place. Here you could catch scenic nature at its purest and immerse yourself in tranquillity. When you enter the park complex, you will come across a wooden walking path that extends over the swamps, which makes moving around the area much convenient whilst giving you a panoramic view of the Beddagana Wetland. You can worry less about getting your feet muddy during the escapades and enjoy your wildlife tour. Travellers never forget to click few dramatic captures of the Wetland Park while visiting. If you’re looking to get some captures for Instagram, you can head over during early dawn or dusk for the most spectacular views. Take a good camera not just for the portraits, but to zoom in on those exotic birds you may never have seen. Located at the edge of Diyawanna Lake, with close proximity to the Sri Lankan Parliament, the marshlands of Beddagana Wetland Park are an enchanting natural landscape and a bird sanctuary that also happens to be an underrated public park. Spanning over 18 hectares of land space, this wetland park attracts many locals – in particular – families interested in exploring the biodiversity of flora and fauna of the park, and it’s a popular stopover for couples looking for an evening of recreation.

A beautiful natural park near the busy town of Kotte. A great place to watch butterflies and birds in a calm holiday. However if you are interested in watching butterflies, it's best visit in the early morning. Several species of aquatic birds can be found around the lake. Bringing plastic and polythene is strictly prohibited. My personal request is don't harm the beauty of this place by littering.

Photographers can see a new breath-taking place, a new kind of free environment for couples and a strange place for a single person. 💆‍♂️🍃🌈 For those around Colombo who think strangely, come and have a wonderful experience in a wetland.. Keep it as a memory for the sweetest moment of your life... 🌍🌼💨 Wedding photoshoot, birthday photoshoot, couple photoshoot are allowed.🤍🍂 There is a pay washroom and a pay car park❌⛓️

It is a beautiful park with large bio diversity. It is great to have a natural wetland park in the busy capital. I do hope they’ll put more guides for the park though. Overall, it’s a beautiful location that everyone near the area should visit at least once.

A Wetland Ecosystem in Colombo. It takes more than 1 hour to peregrinate into this wetland. It opens from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm. There are some guidelines to avoid the negative impacts on this sensitive environment. A perfect place for photoshoot.

Though Beddagana Wetland Park was opened recently, it has become every popular among the local crowds. Situated in the vicinity of the capital, this park takes your mind away from the highly populated city. It borders to Diyawanna Oya and is rich with marshy lands & mangroves. Several local and migratory birds can be seen within the premises, hence is very popular among bird photographers. There is a separate area for spotting butterflies as well.

A beautiful place to visit. I just love it coz it gives a evergreen forest like feeling. One of the excellent wetlands in Colombo area. For bird watching, you must visit before 7a.m. It is open daily from 6.30 am to 5.30 pm. Some people are destroying the natural nature beauty exposing their pvt lives inside the park. Please don't disturb nature lovers. Those who wish to spend their personal lives find Love Parks instead of NATURE PARKS.

Beddagana Wetland Park is a wetland park situated on Rampart Road in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte. It is a great place to embrace Mother Nature with so much to do such as bird watching and taking a stroll sinking in the beauty surrounding it. It is a naturally beautiful place with artistic landscaping and lush greenery. There are educational tours such as boat rides identifying different species of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. It is the perfect place for nature lovers. Beddagana Wetland Park was declared open in the year 2016. The park covers 18 hectares of wetland surrounding the Diyawanna Oya Lake. It is considered to be a part of the much larger Diyawanna Oya flood plains Wildlife Sanctuary declared by the Department of Wildlife Conservation in 1985. Beddagana Wetland Park is situated on Rampart Road in the historic city of Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte which also happens to be the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. The park has two trails. One trail borders the Diyawanna Oya Lake and the other one is a forest trail which goes through a wetland forest.

I couldn't belive there is thjs kind of a wetland park in the middle of colombo. You should visit here onece in a while if you are living in colombo. There might be no reason to visit here if you are outside colombo as it doesn't have anything special to see.

A park located on beddagana and diyawannawa... It has nice and long paths to site seeing wetlands however its filled with couples so it doesn't seems a good place for kids. However it is a good place but right now trees are dried up and dead. And there isn't a proper place to buy any foods so consider these before going

Will be surprised to see such a beautiful greenery and wetlands in heart of western province of Sri Lanka. Children should be taken cautiously as this seems to be a place filled with young couples. No proper directions as to how one should start or follow the trails either...but all in all, a lovely place

Nice and quiet place in the vicinity of Colombo. Google map takes you to the right location. There is ample parking. Sign boards are not well fixed. You can easily miss the floating deck. So pls ask the directions from the entrance office clearly. They are very helpful. Better to go in the morning or evening.
