It is an absolute shame that google only gives 5 star rating, as I would give them 10 if they were available. Harold, the owner and tour guide extraordinaire, knew so much about the history of Sri Lanka that it felt like he lived 500 years. We started at the Dutch hospital, travelled through time and space, ending near the Red Mosque and spice district. We saw all sides of Colombo and now feel the need to return! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

This was well worth the time. Two hours shows you the old architecture and how Sri Lanka is preserving its past. Mark is a wonderful guide, passionate about his country. He will custom his walk to what you are interested in.

One of cool and calm place for a walk, hangout with friends or with your partner. Great restaurants around the place lots of buildings are there and most are historical locations as well. It'll be a great experience anyone who visit here.

The beauty of Colombo..

Open area with some seating available. Good place to hang out if you don’t mind the perpetual horn-blaring traffic on the road next to it.

Beautiful area especially in the evening, with a hub of pubs and restaurants. You can also listen to music and even make purchases.

We had a tour with Harold and it was worth doing so. The best tour so far because it is more than a tour. He walked us around Colombo discovering inreresting soits linked to the history of the country. Harold is a local who has studied and lived abroad so his knowledge and passion for the country is perfectly adapted to the curiosity of any foreigner. We chose a walj through the city but he has other cultural tours as well, with private cars for instance.

I had a disappointing experience with Colombo Walks. I tried reaching out via WhatsApp to inquire about their walking tours, but despite seeing my messages, they completely ignored me and didn't bother responding. Not a great way to treat potential customers. 👎

We enjoyed the walk by Harry, he had a lot of interesting information to share. He told details about Colombo in an approachable way. We really enjoyed having a break for some iced tea at the Grand Oriental hotel. We also enjoyed the break for local Samosas and fish pies. Harry was also very personal and considerate.

Had a walk yesterday evening with Harold and I must say it was a fabulous experience to see and learn about the history of Colombo. Harold knows everything there is to know about his city and conveys every tidbit with a jovial smile and all round happy demeanour. If you only do one thing in Colombo, do this.

A great start in Colombo, especially to get to know the city and the history behind it better. I ended up having a private tour with Harold and it was really super exciting, I got to see and learn a lot that I wouldn't have otherwise got from just watching. I really had a good time during the tour and thus a great start to the holiday.

Harold was lovely, easy to book, good prior to the walk. Very informative walk around Colombo, where we saw things and learnt things that we may not have seen otherwise. Harold spoke very good English, and it’s intersting to hear the history of Colombo. We enjoyed a nice tea in the harbour area and a very nice Sri Lankan lunch. Would recommend Colombo walks.

It’s just a pedestrian street, nothing much, just a CBD, it’s found in every big city, it’s modern.

Well worth it! Mark is a wonderful guide- very intelligent and passionate about the history of Colombo. He provides a detailed overview of the history of his city through its architecture. His tour is full of interesting facts and his delivery was very entertaining. He is extremely invested in understanding Colombo’s shifting cityscape and preserving its cultural history. His concern is that people all too often adopt the mindset of “out with the old and in with the new” and are too quick to tear down older structures in favor of modern buildings. His stories about the infrastructure of Colombo animate the city in ways that would otherwise be overlooked. He clearly loves the rich cultural history of Colombo and leaves this sentiment with his guests. Beyond this, Mark is genuinely kind and helpful; he provided our group with insights into the local tourism industry, making thoughtful suggestions so that we could maximize our stay here.

I was dragged out by my Significant other for this mornings walk and I have to say it was well worth it! Harold our Fellow explorer took us exploring through the heart of Colombo. It was a well organized informative tour which I hope to take again the next time I visit Sri Lanka. From the punctuality and ease of organizing this tour everything is well worth it. If you are ever in Colombo do your best to get on this tour. It is the best way to see Colombo through the eyes or a local! Thanks Harold you are the man!
