What a lovely experience! We visited both the shop and the restaurant and had such great time. Getting some high quality fabrics, essential oils and some nice table covers from their store was the best thing we got from Colombo. They also sell all types of recycled stuff and decoration. Prices were so reasonable. The restaurant was super nice. The staff spoke excellent English, the food wasn’t spicy 😍🥳 We had tuna sandwiches and a bunch of sides, so European! The gallery was beautiful and we really had a great few hours there.

They have their own colorful souvenir items you can only get from here and on the pricier side. It's really cute. However at the cafe, expect to have a slow service there. There's only 2 wait staff while its full of customers so we decided to just leave after buying souvenirs at the shop.

I recently visited Barefoot, and I must say that my experience was far from satisfactory. It is with great disappointment that I write this review to warn others about the lackluster service at this establishment. Firstly, the wait time was abysmal. After being seated, I patiently waited for more than 10 minutes just to receive a menu. It was as if the staff had completely forgotten about my presence. As time dragged on, I grew increasingly frustrated and began to wonder if I had been invisible. So sad I had to leave the place, I wander waiters might me waiting for the tips of foreigners than serving their own locals, This was my first impression and I would not recommend this place to anyone 😊 I mean “locals”

Such a lovely place with vivid and glowing colors. Great place to get things to decorate your house 🏡. Hand made quality products are available there. They also have various types of tea products to attract foreign visitors. Very good collection of books 📚 are also available. It is a fascinating place with lots of unique products such as handbags, shoes, accessories, shirts, sarongs, girls ware, table mats, table cloths, cloth materials etc. Some food products and wooden antique products are there. There is an art gallery with lovely paintings 🖼. The barefoot garden cafe is a very attractive restaurant. Most of the foreigners likes to visit the place. When you get into the place you would feel to get all the stuff. Some Woden things are very nice and antique with reasonable price. Hand woven materials are rich in quality and texture. They have variety of cards for birthdays, weddings, anniversary etc. friendly service with great staff.

Had a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast here. Price 1600, which included a pot of tea. Place was frequented by tourists mainly, but had a nice feel. We were finished breakfast but looks like they were setting up live music. Friendly staff and amazing toilets!

Wonderful cafe, gallery and shop. The cafe had the freshest coconut water ever and the sandwiches were tasty too. The shop had a large selection of very cool items you can shop for. The gallery had some good art and architecture. A must visit when in Colombo for sure.

What an awesome place! I wish I had more time in Colombo to shop here. I was strangely drawn to all the sarong materials fashion. Its not practical in London during 10 months in the year. But for those mild couple of months the clothes will be great. This isn't a shop for locals however as the prices are steep, which is sad to see. I think this place offers a wholesome day out for the whole family.

Great place to shop for hand crafted souvenirs, gifts, books and handloom crafts. The Garden Cafe offers cocktails and snacks, and has both breakfast and lunch - both Continental and Sri Lankan food. One of my favorite places to shop and lunch in Colombo.

Pretty store with fabulous collection. If you are someone, who loves all things handmade, ans handwoven, it is a little paradise for all your home linens and decor stuffs. Their table cloth, runners, cushion covers are our favourite and always end up buying them on our trips to SL. They also have a fabulous cafe that serves amazing food.

Barefoot don’t have friendly atmosphere or staff. Not enjoyed the cafe either. The tea I had here was the worst. I have seen more better places to shop than this one. Nothing is good about it. Kind of disappointed. No standard simply overrated.

Perfect for everything, whether it's shopping or dining, it's one of the rarest places that you find with this ambiance A special mention for their bookshop

I always remembered Barefoot from my trip seven years ago, the vibrant shop is lovely to wander around. It is a little price in the shop, however items are high quality. I stopped in the cafe on the way out, making use of their free wifi, to have an afternoon coffee and cake and it did not disappoint. The smooth jazz plating in the background is perfect to add to the relaxing oasis of calm.

You can by lovely hand woven products here. There is also a nice relaxing cafe out the back and while we were there there was an art exhibition on. I am not sure if this is all the time.

I really love the layout of the shop. Got a great selection of clothes with very nice design and fabrics. Managed to find a few nice items with good price here. Got a carrot cake in the cafe too, not too impressed by the food - very sweet and overly oily cake

Been buying and playing with these toys since I was a little girl. Love the concept, craftsmanship and way that it has evolved over the years. Great food too.

Lovely atmosphere, went for the Poetry and prose evening. In good weather it's the ideal place for an outdoor small event!

Lots of unique and interesting stuff. Saturday morning was very crowded. The bookshop needs a staff member to be more available. The cafe was great with nice food served in a pretty courtyard

It's a lovely place to buy some uniquely Sri Lankan products such as handloom products, books and other hand made products.

One of the most famous destinations in Colombo for Sri Lankan memorabilia. It's famous for Sri lankan handmade clothing, ornaments, wall holders toys books and magazines. The staff is very friendly and very supportive. You can find colorful handmade sarongs to be worn on traditional events.

I visited Barefoot cafe after almost seven years, and I must say, nothing has changed. it's still one of the most chilled out places to hang out in Colombo and the food and service is excellent! Keep up the great work everyone

First, the store has some beautiful textiles and was one of the first places in Sri Lanka that changed the patterns and utilized small villages to produce textiles. Their patterns became the standard and are well copied throughout the city but this is the original. They have some great books, old-school postcards, and great knickknacks that are worth it for gifts. Secondly the courtyard cafe is a great place to unwind from the hot hustle bustle of Colombo and enjoy a nice meal a cool breeze and a great dessert. I’ve been going here since 1991 and it’s gotten better every year.

Great place to purchase souvenirs, arts and crafts, clothes and material etc. Loved the vibe of the place above all. They have bookshop and a garden cafe as well.

Unfortunately, this has gone from 5 to 4 stars in my opinion. The cafe area looks unkempt. Lots of workers and cleaners are just standing and staring at customers. Every item looks the same or range reduced compared to 12 years ago when I visited it. Even the front window display was dismal. Prices are reasonable. I strongly recommend you visit it to support this unique business. My advice for the owners is to wake up!

The cafe tucked behind the store is a cool place to hang out. Great food, beer wine and outdoor atmosphere. A hidden gem of Colombo yet to be discovered by many arts and crafts lovers. My favourite hang out spot on a Saturday afternoon with live music.

Impossible to capture the ambience of Barefoot, but it's also what makes cafe quite unique in Colombo. Another is consistency. Have been going for around 20 years, and while the kitchen's gone through phases, under different head Chef's, the menu's now settled, and consistently good. The staff are absolutely lovely, and Sunday's are especially brilliant with the live jazz. Of course, there's Barefoot - the shop, and amongst other things it's famous for, also houses one of the more interesting bookshops in the city, with a great selection of some of the country's best, award-winning authors. One can spend hours in the cafe, which offers a full lunch menu, and some delish all-day offerings. One of my favourite spots in Colombo, made even more special by the fact that owners - Dom & Naz - are also lovely people.

Sells a good collection of Lankan souvenirs, hand loom and handicrafts. Has a bookshop and an onsite cafe. Pricier than Laksala, Lakmedura and other govt shops. Parking inside the shop.

This is one of the most distinctive places of Colombo. The front shop sells some souvenirs and crafts, and the courtyard at the back is a restaurant. It’s a nice place to take a rest.
