MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I'd like to report an incident dated November 25 to all: On November 24, I attempted to enter my room #302, the card wasn't working and the door handle was stuck downward. Maintenance came and they advised me to switch to Room #102 as the handle seemed to be mechanically faulty. Accepted the inconvenience, the next day on November 25, the front desk lady phoned me and said the followings: "My management said you broke the door handle and you HAVE TO pay" in a hostile tone. I was in shock of the accusation as the property itself is poorly maintained, and the fixtures are old & poorly kept. I was not at all happy of the accusation & I communicated it's not my responsibility as the handle is defective. They bothered me all day through calling & knocking on the door while I was busy. They continued to escalate & forced me to pay for their faulty door handle. By evening, the management changed the story & asked me to pay 50% of the door handle in the most inhospitable manner. Furthermore, by 9pm, they threatened to call the police & tried to force me to stay. Feeling extremely threatened, and unsafe, I packed up my bags, and headed to the American Embassy. I have travelled to numerous countries & stayed at all sorts of lodgings/hotels, I have never felt so unsafe and threatened by a facility that's supposed to be a temporary home. SRI LANKA is such a beautiful country. Come to Sri Lanka but do not stay at Colombo City Hotel.

Probably the worst place to have your food in colombo.😡 We noticed that there was a snail on the mint leaves which was served in the Mojito after having a few sips This is not acceptable at all as a mistake. Worst experience had in a restaurant as such.🤬😡😡 The Best thing was that the management or any responsible person didn't had the courtesy to apologize for such a huge thing happened in their restaurant. Also more issues were there with the food served and this place is not recommended at all for any person who come to have their food.

The worst food and drinks that I had in a star class hotel!!!!! Yesterday I went to the roof top bar with my friends. Then we ordered couple of beers and some blue margarita. The margarita that we had was a disaster. We ordered some food also from the menu. Some Calamari and chicken. Even a trainee cook can make much better food than that. We didn’t stay there for even 30 minutes. Even though we complained about the food they didn’t even care. So we asked for the bill. The bill was a written one. In the bill the total amount was there but When we calculated the bill there was extra amount. Even the bill was not completed, but they put the total amount. The worst experience in my from a hotel. Not recommending for anyone who is looking for a good experience.

Great food. We ordered One pork , 3 cutt fish inclusive dishes and corden blue. The food was very tasty. Port was very tasty . Portions were adequate . The only issue was the Air Conditions were not on or not sure if they had but on the roof top with a good wind and a ambience it was not bad. Its suitable for friends , office crowd and groups. Not romantic or family friendly . Very good service . And located in a convenient place Reasonable prices . Approx 1,200 /= per person

Colombo city Hotel one of the most bad hotel in colombo even food quality is so poor. Expensive and not worth for the money

Worst customer service. Had a reservation at this place but when I visited the location they said they don’t have my name in the list and was stranded. Do not recommend for anyone looking for a decent service.

We dined at the rooftop restaurant and we ordered couple of dishes, veg and non-veg biryani was okayish, honey glazed chicken was nice, the service was decent. Also the staff refused to share the wifi mentioning weird reason.

It's one of the horrible experience for me in sri lanka. They didn't allowed early check in at 10:30 am. Asking for extra money. Bathroom is full of cokraches. On the name of breakfast buffet, they give only omelet and fruit plate. They are just running scam. 400 LKR for water bottle..

We arrived at the Hotel at 2am. Friendly guy on reception booked our group of 16 in. Got to our room, opened the door and a horrible musty, stale smell hit you. The room was clean, very very basic. A bed with one cotton top sheet & 2 pillows. Jug & 2 cups, coffee & 2 tea bags, 2 bottles of water. The bathroom is very dated and although probably clean it didn't look so? Breakfast was ok, the chef will cook you an omelette or fried eggs. The staff were friendly enough but 8 hours here was really more than enough.

Very old hotel. It’s right in the centre of Colombo city and that is the only plus of this hotel. Rooms are not well maintained. There was water leaks in the walls. Corridors are filled with smoke smell.

Food at the rooftop hotel is atrocious - the chef admitted the soup came out of a van that was expired. Should be illegal to run an establishment like this.

Had a horrible experience today at their front cafe. There was an extremely rude cleaning lady at the seating area who was asking the customers to clean the tables before leaving, which I found a bit amusing. Though I would never mind cleaning the table that I was sitting at, I found it's a bit inappropriate to ask a customer to do it himself. After all that's the job of the cafe staff. And she kept on giving us dirty looks and that was followed by a security guard who too wanted to give us the same dirty look. He came all the way down from the front entrance to give us the same dirty look, which I have no doubt he did as per the instructions of the management. I guessed the reason for the dirty look was the time I spent against the amount I spent. I just had a burger and a coffee and spent over 30 minutes at the seating area. But no customer deserves such treatment even though he/she spent merely a Ruppee or two.🤪

Very bad experience i ever had. No friendly staff, very very slow wifi connection (just showing wifi but they cutting internet connection). They giving internet only midnight to 8 o'clock morning. Bathroom water is not enough to take a shower. Dirty pillows for the beds. Not recommended to anyone.

Bhuddhima was very helpful as I could not find a spot to plug my phone. He was kind and lend me his charger as I had some urgent work to do. Kind of him! Top notch service from all team members.

We dined at the rooftop restaurant which offered the most affordable prices compared to other places. The view was stunning and the service surpassed our expectations. There was fantastic live music until midnight, and the band graciously played the songs we requested. Unlike many other spots, this place wasn't overly crowded. It's an ideal spot if you're seeking a great hangout with your friends.

The receiption behaves like he is the boss...he was behaving very rude...no welcome drink....only provided water...staff was rude...they keep used soap inbathroom and rooms were not clean....worst and pathetic service they provide....I order veg biryani over the phone they said 1260.00 rs including tax but when I received the order they charged me 1749.00 rs food was pathetic not worth it....very very slow wifi connection (just showing wifi but they cutting internet connection).....Dirty pillows for the beds smells awful...Corridor its noise you can hear people when they walks and talk.. ..poor service don't waste your money....rooms are noise with loud music going on till midnight.

Worst. In the canteen they sell cakes for high prices. Those cakes are like stones. I think they are selling expired cakes. Those were horrible.

A very good hotel located in the middle of Colombo City. There is an amazing outdoor restaurant in the 5th floor. Very calm environment. The staff is very friendly. Prices are not too expensive. Easy to access. But parking facility is limited.

Not A Swanky Hotel But Good Enough The hotel is very accommodation. We arrived at 10AM in the morning and they checked us in right away. Our request for a late 5PM check out was also quickly approved when I contacted them online after booking our room. They even made up our room when we went out on our check out day. Overall, the staff are all very patient, friendly and helpful. There was a dispute with the price difference which though wasn't resolved to my satisfaction, I still commend the staff for their professional attitude and patience throughout the dispute. The triple room I booked came with as a twin with a comfortable fold bed. There was both air conditioning and a ceiling fan so the room temperature was comfortable. The coffee/tea area is practical and well stocked and they top up the coffee sachets upon request which is nice. The bathroom is spacious enough and the towels were fresh. There is a water dispenser in the corridor by the lift dispensing both hot and cold water. Location is good with the WTC directly opposite and food a minute away. You can easily walk from the railway station and the Dutch Hospital is just beside the hotel and Pettah market a brisk 10 mins walk away. Below are not complains but observations. This is more a local businessman's hotel and not so much a tourist hotel. So if you are looking for a modern swanky hotel, this is not it. The hotel lobby and general area needs to be spruced up- it looks haphazard and unwelcoming. But the rooms are decent enough.

It is impossible to sleep there. Booked for 4 nights and stayed one. They are located next to bars and clubs. The walls are so thin that you hear the neighbors coughing or the kid playing games on their phone. Booked this hotel over my tour guide. Not sure if I will receive my money back. Complaint about the noise and wrote a long email at night. 3 days after still no reply from the hotel. Not impressed.

13/04/23 We had the best stay! We where with a big group of 42 girls and everything was organized perfect. The food was good and the services aswell. The staff was really kind and helpful. Special thanks to Faraz!! We would really recommend this hotel.

We commend him to the management and hope for his well deserved promotion🤗 The breakfast was well presented and nice. The aircon is a wonderful bonus as are the fans and cold water provided. Keep the Sri Lankan economy afloat dear Aussie travellers.

We were there at the restaurant on the roof-top. And compare to other places we got the cheapest offer from there. The view is amazing, and the service is even better. There was quality music till midnight. We requested some songs, and the band was kind enough to play them. Unlike other places, this place is not too crowded. So if you are looking for a place to go with your gang, this will be a great spot.

Good place for quarantine facility, but bit risky with public getting in to place and gathering makes it’s difficult to maintain health and safety guidelines from the health authorities. Front office and housekeeping staff is friendly.

Decent hotel in the heart of city, close to beach.

Service was average along with the facilities. Do not leave luggage behind by mistake. Retrieving it is difficult.

My revisit was not a happy stay from checkinn till check out

I stayed here for one night and I don’t have much to complain about the room except the room had no water, every time I had to go out fill out a jug from the filter they had placed outside and come back, but that was okay. The restaurant is just terrible, I went to have breakfast with my friend and one breakfast was Rs. 1200++ For this we received about three pieces of chicken (for both of us) three rottis and THATS IT. When we asked about it the explanation was the food was over because the guests who stayed on Bed and breakfast basis had finished all. They offered to make up some more and give us and we agreed and waited for another 15 minutes, there was only one waiter and he went in the kitchen and never came out. We left after a while and would NOT recommend the restaurant and it’s food.

Today I went there for lunch with two friends and ordered three portions of seafood fried rice. It took nearly 45 minutes to get the food. And there were only few pieces of fried fish and we couldn’t find a single piece of cuttlefish and shrimp/ prawns. I have been a customer of this place since 2011 but today experience was terrible.

Superb central location. Located opposite the World Trade Centre and adjacent to the Dutch Hospital Complex. Lots of sights, shopping, bars and transport options within walking distance. Friendly staff and clean, well equipped rooms. There is a rooftop restaurant cum bar which has a relaxed yet lively vibe in the evening. Hotel also has a take-away adjacent to the front entrance which is perfect for a cost effective breakfast or even lunch. Seemed popular with nearby office goers.

The two most memorable and impactful things were the location and the delightful and delectable food in Amaluna resort. The resort is located so close to the beach. It is so beautiful peaceful and clean. Basking in the sun and swimming kept us restful and in high spirits. My son enjoyed the beach as much as I did. The food was amazing with mouthwatering presentation. So many cuisines to choose from. Specially the breakfast with so many authentic local cuisines like milk rice, sting hoppers, rotti, sambol, dhal curry, Sri Lankan chicken curry.
