I felt home from the start, the place is well managed and very clean, very good for short and long stays. There is a nice environment coming out from the place, nice vibes. You can use the kitchen and free tea and free breakfast from 7: 00 to 10: 30 with one omelette, one fruit and toasts with jam and butter. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back to this backpack.

Lovely stay! The hostel is very clean and located in a convenient location close to many shops and restaurants. Our room had A/c which is not common in budget hostels around Sri Lanka. I really enjoyed chatting with the staff who were so welcoming and very interested to learn about my country (Malta). It's also very easy to meet other travellers here as the common area is always full of interesting people. Free breakfast included! Would definitely recommend to any backpacker visiting Colombo

Very relaxed Very cheap Wifi works fine in the common area, slightly less so in the top room Off the main road so is nice and quiet Small common area so you get to know the other guests/travellers Breakfast included and freshly made quickly Bed and pillows are comfortable Could be improved: No locks on the dorm doors - so I did not feel safe leaving my valuables and took them all out with me - you are encouraged to do so by the staff Air conditioning is controlled by the staff so you cannot turn it up or down Recommendation: Choose a room with air con. I didn’t realise I had not, it was very hot and stuffy but I was lucky as there was a spare bed in the air con room which I was able to upgrade to at a tiny price.

Enjoyed our stay at Backpackers Paradise Hostel. It's the place to stay if you're visiting Colombo, very close to the train station, walking distance to all amenities including budget restaurants, supermarket etc. The beds are comfortable, with AC. The breakfast is complimentary and delicious, and they also make hoppers during the day! Staff is very friendly and hostel is clean :) totally recommended it if you are visiting Colombo :D

There's a good atmosphere in this hostel which is more like a big house. It is located in an area of the city where you can find all the shops you need. Price is good and the breakfast is nice as well. The woman who takes care of the place is really kind and helpful.

No individual power point for each bunk bed as normally other hostel does. The owner not helpful enough as limited information given for public transportation as if like encourging you to take their tuktuk or taxi. Wifi very slow. We book for for female dorm but they put us in mixed dorm and we didnt know until suddenly 1 guy came into the room. They even tried to ask to let that guy to stay for 1 night as they understand and know that we book for female dorm. The worst hostel of the hostel i ever stay in sri lanka.

Good hotel good room safe hotel

This hostel main points are location (take bus 103 from Fort, 15LKR, less than 10min), cleanliness, nice staff and the comunal living room where one end up meeting other people. Ask about the breakfast because it’s included but they don’t mention it at arrival. Improvement aspects: we had an upper double bunk bed (yes, they have that for couples) and the AC for the whole room was just above it; we were freezing.

Budget hostel

Bad for value and the Manager was very hostile. Had a small gathering with guests to socialize and the manager asked me not to do such things. Have been in several hostels but never experienced such a thing. These policies are not in place either, bringing me to the conclusion that the manager is very uptight. Suitable more for a school hostel where you cannot go out after 10pm. Please change this if you want guests to stay.

+: the place has only one common room which makes socializing easy. It’s like a living room. The two ladies working there at night are lovely. -: where to start? The female dorm smells like dead rats, it is so humid and damp there... I couldn’t sleep there as the air was unbreathable; same thing for the bathroom. The bathroom also doesn’t have any toilet paper. The WiFi is basically non existent, never worked which is quite a negative thing for a hostel. Worst part is the staff and most specifically the managers. The man who is foreign talks to guests like if they were garbage and have no peoples skills whatsoever. The way he talked to me was unacceptable saying he was running a business here, not a charity, only because I was waiting in the living room after checkout waiting for the night bus. He and his wife asked me to leave if I don’t give them money for the little hour I spent there even if I wasn’t staying overnight. I never saw that in my life and I’ve been to oh so many hostels around the world. It has always been possible to leave my luggage after checkout and return to the hostel before taking the night bus. Not here, incredible ! The wife who seems also the manager is no better, requesting for money the same way. The man working there during the day who works for the owner couple was rude as well, not willing to use an extra fan while it was so hot and humid in the hostel and wanting to switch all lights off making the atmosphere very dark. Colombo is full of nice hostels that have nicer managers and nicer rooms. Don’t waste your time here.

Could have been better. I feel it's too many in the room. No individual cupboards. No charging ports. I'm bit disappointed. Place looks messy but much cheaper.

This is the house converted in to the hotel and the nice things are this hotel is really clean and the care taker is also very systematic person, breakfast is good but they are repeating it everyday, the wifi is not reaching in the dorm rooms thats the bad part, and i think staying for one or two night this place is ohk but not for a long period of time, because you will get bored

Dorms are clean but cannot use AC in the day. Girl dorm was taken. I had a terrible experience here one night t the mix dorm. One Japanese guy in his underwear try to act weird and when I put a cloth to cjvee the view he switched off the lights and blocked my way to exit the dorm. I started shouting so that someone will come for help. The male staff who came immediately asked me to be quiet because it will wake other staff. He had no sympathy to help me in the situation. Same night I stayed at a friend's place who Zale to pick me. I came back next morning. The manager offered a different room but the guy was still in the hostel. She only said sorry. After the manager came in the morning, the same male staff acted very concern and caring. Not entirely safe for female solo travellers. I checked out and went to a different hostel. Not safe!

Clean and friendly accommodations. Very nice staff. TV in the shared living space has films and music videos. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Great location, even for walking.
