The cafe on the 5th is a great place to hang out with friends or family. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the food is delicious. I ordered the Penne Pasta with Tender Chicken & Mushroom, and it was cooked perfectly. The pasta was al dente, the chicken was juicy, and the mushrooms were flavorful. Next, I tried Mongolian Rice, and it was also very good. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Recommended the service at Cafe on the 5th to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Very charming and cosy cafe on 5th lane. Came here at breakfast time . Theres a wide variety of food available - eg shorteats, hoppers, rotti etc, as well as drink options. Delicious short eats with a range of varieties available, including vegetarian. Tried their prawn crepe and it was amazing! Ambience is nice and calming, and good for a quiet place to get some work done as well. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Cafe on the 5th.. had the best service, yummiest food and was the perfect ambiance for our study session.. have to complement their milk hoppers and prawn pasta.. couldn’t have asked for a better service.. spent almost 6 hours in this place and they provided us with the most friendly service.. will be visiting soon.!

Cafe on the fifth has spacious dining area, They have been serving good foods in Colombo for many years including variety of foods and drinks, and good dinner menu as well. You can have both indoor and outdoor seating, 

Parking available for few vehicles(around 7-8). Sometimes it might take few seconds to get your order ready since they have kind of foods prepared. Place is packed on the night with locals. Overall ambiance and the service is commendable, I would totally recommend this place. Good for dates, good for hanging out with friends and family.

Nice brunch spot with outdoor seating in the heart of Colombo. Wide variety of food and drinks including salads, keto friendly options, fusion cusine like Mongolian rice and even kottu in daytime. Bakery serves everything from good old maalu paan to studels to key lime pie. Affordable and family friendly compared to other restaurants with similar ambience. Special mention of the bartender who went ahead and gave us a refill when we asked for some more ice for our strawberry soda as it was a hot day. Definitely one of the best places to take your parents and family for a treat.

One of the most reputed café 's in Colombo.. Situated in a calm neighborhood.. Is a great place to have a cuppa coffee or have a nice meal..especially they are famous for the hopper nights.. They also serve good caffeine and have delicious cakes and short eats. Seating is close to nature and has a nice breeze.. The service is excellent.. They have very attentive staff.. There is parking for around 10 vehicles.. It gets busy during lunch and dinner times.. Good to have a reservation especially for dinner..

Found a big metal pieces in their Seeni Sambol in 2017. Complained and nothing happened. Fast forward to 2021: terrible rip off from their so called short eat box. The sizes of the food prices are so small that they’re all over the box during delivery. Pathetic. Complained. Guess what? Nothing happened.

Overall experience at Cafe on the 5th was great - the service and food were both excellent. However, I do want to mention that the location seems to have a drainage issue. On the day of my visit, it was raining heavily, and when I tried to leave, I found that the area around the restaurant was waterlogged and blocked. This made it impossible for me all others to get to the vehicle without getting soaked. While I enjoyed the dining experience, I would not recommend visiting this restaurant on days with heavy rainfall, as the accessibility can be a challenge. Hopefully, they can address this issue in the future to make it more convenient for customers.

Food potion is really good and worth the cost. But the lime juice we ordered came with lime seeds. They have just added sugar and not mixed it. Very poor quality drinks. Most of the food options are not available. Not even noodles.

Food is very tasty. Especially the Chicken Lasagna and Lump Rice. The chocolate milkshake also had a rich chocolate taste. Also the out door (with shelter) dining is superb because of the Covid situation in the country.

Excellent dinner. Went looking for some authentic Sri Lankan food and came away very satisfied. Had the plain hoppers, prawn curry, pol sambal follwed by coffee and watlappan. The prawns had just the right amount of spice to make you sweat a little! Hoppers were perfect with the crispy edges and soft centre. Very reasonably priced too! Lookig forward to eating here again. Would like to see just how spicy the devilled chicken is!!!

It's an average restaurant that offers a variety of local dishes and fast food for both takeout and dining in. The place isn't air-conditioned, and it's not overly crowded, but if you choose to dine in, be prepared to wait for more than 30 minutes. The waiter, who wears eyeglasses, isn't the friendliest and can be a bit annoying. On the bright side, there's plenty of parking available.

The thai style noodles were good. Their food is spicy esp the mongolian rice. However, Pathetic service. It's so full on weekends that they can hardly keep up so they need more staff. And more fans. The place can get really hot. Also, there's not much variety in mocktails and the ones I asked for, were not available. Quite disappointed.

I love the vibe of this Cafe. Staff is extremely friendly and professional. Unfortunately there were no hot coffee at the time when I went there which was a Sunday around 3pm. That was quiet sad cuz I had to ended up with a Nescafe. But overall nice place with a cool vibe. I was there working on some of my stuff around 1h and really enjoyed the time without any disturbances. Crowd was nice as well.

Loved this little cafe. Went there on a rainy day and it had the perfect vibe. Had chicken mushroom spaghetti and a dish of fish and chips. Both dishes were exceptional. Went there again the next day and had hoppers and Kottu, which was again, really delicious. Prices were very reasonable too.

A quite place to have some food right at the busy centre of Colombo. The food is fine and nothing too extra ordinary. There are some items that are worth the price and some that are not, mainly for the pastry items. The staff was respectable and friendly. Overall it was a good experience.

They close at 9.30 pm and even in the seasonal times . They should look at catering to different markets , not only their regular clientele, what they did in 2005 may not be applicable now . Also service staff need to be trained to educate the customer about the kitchen closure and time lines . If the staff is working from noting till night… look at shifts to handle peak and down time’s appropriately. Food is nice and tasty … but feel the quantity has reduced.

The best food in Colombo. Best hoppers (available after 5 PM) and noodles. The service is slow but the vibe is really good. The staff is courteous and you can spot Colombo's who's who being a frequent here. Amazing food and service.

Good food and calm ambiance

At first glance, the dishes available for lunch look quite appetising, and somewhat irresistible. So I tried their Nasi Goreng and the Chicken+Prawn Mongolian Fried Rice for lunch on a Saturday. The Nasi rice was bland, flavourless and poorly cooked. The chicken that came along with it was 50/50. TBH, the simple fired egg in the Nasi was better than the rice and chicken combined. Quite the let down it was. The Mongolian was a bit better, but felt a lot like it had been seasoned with Knorr or Maggie Chicken soup cubes, and so wasn't easy to finish. The fresh juices (Ambarella, Lime, Watermelon) were a lot better. The service and the setting however is quite good. The staff and polite and well trained. The tables and the establishment in general is quite clean. If only the food had the same standards.. I still have hopes for the Lunchtime Biryani and the Kotthu for dinner. Let's see..

I had an excellent dinner and was completely satisfied after seeking out some genuine Sri Lankan cuisine. Their koththu was especially noteworthy, but the egg hoppers, regular hoppers, pasta, and noodles were also tasty.

It's a nice place to dine inside & outside both which having a good variety in menu. We bought some Lasagna even if those not appear in the menu. The service of the staff friendly & quick. Highly recommend.

Starting with the hoppers, I must admit they were just average. They tasted decent, but they didn't have that wow factor we were hoping for. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the creamy mushroom sauce paired perfectly with the tender pieces of chicken. Every bite was a delight, and it left us wanting more. Great food... and the atmosphere was nice.... they have parking facility for approx 8-10 vehicles.. But little bit slow in service, had to wait for some time to get the Waiters attention & for the F&B service... & twice had to remind on a missing item from what we ordered... But the food was nice, price was reasonable. They don't have alcohol/ Beer, but they alow BYOB... Overall good place to dine..

Parking is very limited at the busy hours. You doesn't find lot of variations in there menu. If you want to have a keto diet the options are minimum. Inside the premises they have lot of tables. Staff is supportive. You can pay with cards. Food is little expensive. Cleanliness of the wash rooms were not satisfactory.

Reliable old place with the same familiar staff. Good place to have hoppers and good Sri lankan food in the evenings. Place is maintained but can be overcrowded in the evenings too which can be a hassle. Book a table or go early. Recommended.

STOP ADDING CHILI PEPPERS TO ALL DISHES! This should be an additional option! Teach your waiters that spices and chili are different! Every time 1 dish tastes different! Why the chef does not control the work of his cooks, everyone is engaged in amateur activities. Mangolian rice with shrimp - 5 rotten shrimp in a dish is a shame for you and for your service.

An excellent place for a quick meal. The food is fairly affordable and good to the palate. It has an excellent atmosphere and I'm sure it would have been even better in the rains. The service is fast and portions are good. Overall an excellent place for a quick meal, definitely worth a visit.
