Located opposite the racecourse building. The coffee was excellent and the food was also quite good. Very nice spot for brunch/breakfast. It would have been nice if there was some sort of outdoor seating due to Covid but otherwise no complaints. They also have a selection of deserts

This is such a cozy place to come grab some good coffee, food and dessert. It's also great to have meetings plus study. Although it's quite pricey and the portions are small, the ambience and the service is wonderful! Would love to visit again on a rainy day.

The best place to try the different types of coffee! Excellent. They have other drinks for non-coffee fans as well. Good service and ambience. Can get crowded towards late evening, but otherwise a good place to get some quiet work done as well.

Nice cozy Coffee House, tucked away in front of Race Course. The Vietnamese Phin (Coffee & condensed milk) was very nice & I had it for the first time. Very friendly & caring staff. Very decently priced menu as well.

Disappointing first experience. We decided to visit as we saw the place being busy when visiting the Good Market across the street. We were greeted by a staff member and taken to a table. We felt there were inconsistencies in the service. Our server didn't come to check if we needed anything. Once we flagged down a server to order coffee he didn't have the answers to the questions we had about the menu items and had to ask someone else. Overall, servers seemed friendly but lacked the interaction with the customers. The food was disappointing as what we got was not what was described on the menu. The eggs served weren't porched eggs but baked eggs and over cooked. The taste of both the dishes (Turkish and Sultan) were very similar. And the hash browns were very disappointing and tasteless. Felt that the portions were a bit on the smaller side and they compensated for it by having lots of bread which we didn't care to finish. The menu was also a bit strange as they had a "Christmas menu". We felt the air-conditioning wasn't enough due to the glass enclosed area. But we did enjoy the ambience with plants and the view. There is definitely potential but based on our first experience, it is hard to recommend this place for food but for a decent view of the racecourse building and a quiet area (as they had a separate room and a library). Not a good first impression.

This is an amazing place for a coffee. Their shakes are amazing. Coffee chocolate shake and the chocolate shake was littttt! Their sandwich was so rich. The beef was so good. They have pork but all the other dishes are halal and cooked with different utensils so muslim can visit and enjoy. Food was awesome. Shakes were awesome. The place was awesome! Amazing location - literally opposite race course grounds and has a wide selection of specialty coffee and also really great food menu! Had the breakfast sandwich with added hash brown and it was really really good!! Im biased and love sandwiches but still the beetroot humus was also good!! Highly recommended and made for meeting up with friends and also has meeting rooms and option to work from there as well!!

Nice all day dining place to check out. I had the beetroot hummus and avocado salsa with toast with extra poached eggs on the side. It was great! They have an awesome dessert selection as well. Lemon meringue pie is a must try.

Nice cozy cafe. Tasty iced long black coffee. Coffee is served with a metal straw, pleasant taste. The cafe is located on the second floor, with side tables offering a panoramic view of the street. Friendly staff. You can pay by international cards. +10% service charges.

Really nice cozy place for delicious food and coffee. The crispy chicken burger we had was absolutely delicious and the service from the staff is amazing. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a good coffee spot.

A fancy coffee shop that every Sri Lankan coffee fan should visit at least once. They do have a variety of food and drinks you can select from. They’ve got more than your typical selection of coffee drinks, including some unique iced-coffee blends. Slightly expensive for local prices when compared to other restaurants. I do like the coffee shop itself though! It's a nice place to catch up with your friends.

Great coffee, good food, super service! What more do you want? This place checks all the boxes. It’s a new addition to Colombo’s coffee scene and is already doing an impeccable job at it. Definitely looking forward to my next visit already. Hope they continue to keep up the great standards!

Great place for a relaxed Sunday brunch. The menu is absolutely stunning. Located right opposite to the racecourse ground, and beside KEMARA SPA, offers a lovely set of meals and great coffees. I loved their service, they were quick with the orders and the staffs did their best. Love the ambiance. Nice choice of music in the background. Usually not too busy, could get a parking spot for urself mostly.

I recently went to Department of Coffee after listening to their commercial on radio. Pros - The ambiance is really nice, it's a nice place to sit down and have a chat with someone. Unlike the Java Lounge which is dark and closed, the department of Coffee was more open and well lit by all the open glass windows. The ordering experience was good, and I got the coffee I ordered in less than 5 minutes. Cons - Even though they advertised that all coffee they serve are specially made and locally roasted, I did not found their coffee tasting any different than any other coffee shop in Colombo. I love drinking coffee and I have tried various coffee shops in and out of Colombo. So since their coffee even though they say it as roasted in house, since there is no difference in taste I don't find a reason to justify their high price for their coffee, and so I'm giving them a 3 star review. But if the coffee is taste extra specially for any special reason I would happy to pay a premium price. But why should i go to another coffee shop to get a similar cup of coffee for a lesser price? Will I visit again, yes.

I was interested in coming here as I had seen the place crowded while passing by multiple times. Finally, I made a stop today and entered the cafe. A nice atmosphere at first, calm music and nice plants with a stunning view on the racecourse. We got welcomed by the staff and got a table by the window. Service was a bit slow and not all servers were able to explain what kinds of coffees are being served which is disappointing. Our server had to send someone else over to explain what a Coffee Bonbon is. They have a very very extensive menu in which I almost got lost into as there are way too many choices. I had Turkish eggs which were very disappointing as they were clearly not the usual Turkish style but more Spanish style. Too salty, too much tomato sauce and only a mini bit of garlic yogurt. No dill or poached eggs as promised on the menu. We also had hash browns, clearly not the typical hash brown we all know but some sort of fried omelette and potato mix. You could taste the oil more than the potatoes. The only positive experience was the coffee we had which was yummy. Although an usual afogato is served with less ice cream. The place has a big staff but they are not so well trained in my opinion. We were not asked for refills, unless we would make eye contact they would not come to ask if everything is ok. I am not sure if I would recommend this place as our food was disappointing. I would recommend it for its coffee. Hope they will improve as it has a great potential.

The food was tasty 👌🏽 I can recommend their "The Cure" but "The Big Greek" which my husband ordered didn't have avocado as stated on the menu (he only realised this after he had a significant portion of the wrap so we didn't complain about it to the staff). The coffee was good 👌🏽 The size of the cake slice (espresso chocolate) for the price we paid for it (Rs. 680) was atrocious. I was actually shocked when I saw the portion! Eventhough the cake was tasty, I would not have another slice of cake from here because it was not worth Rs. 680. The service was okay - some staff members were excellent while others were below average. I expected a higher standard of service for the price we paid. All in all, it was an average experience, and I probably wouldn't dine in again. The parking space is tiny (3 proper spots) compared to the number of available tables! Maybe I'd try to get take away one day again, if there's parking space...

They are maintaining the quality as usual. warm and inviting atmosphere with a great service from the staff. All together one of best coffee shops in CMB. At night with lights on DOC is kinda stylish and serene vibe. Ps: day time it may get bit hot but cool coffee or a milkshaka will make it go away

A new addition to Colombo's coffee shop options. They serve great coffee, good food with friendly service!! One of my favourites already! We went there for coffee and dessert after dinner. We ordered cafe martini, cafe latte, hot chocolate and syphon (the latter was very interesting to watch being made at our table itself). For dessert we ordered slices of tarts parisian chocolate, lemon meringue and the irishman. Taste and quality were good. Spacious and airy, the place has good vibes. Located opposite the race course, its quite easy to find.

I went for a discussion and later snack & coffee. Place was crowded with mostly young students. Staff not disturbing but attend on call. Food delicious, big portions compare to the rate. Parking is ample where as Security guys doing great service. Great location. I will come back again.

Great food. We had the crispy burger, chocolate chip milkshake, cafe latte and the shrimp burger. All were absolute best 😍 The taste was amazing! We reached around 11.30am and all tables were already occupied. The window site seating is the best 👍 The staff were very friendly and attended to us politely. Great brunch spot!

What a lovely place to eat and relax or even work, we stopped by for breakfast and their menu had a great variety to chose from. We picked some brunch items and stayed for a while with coffee and tea to top It off. The service was super, efficient and attentive. The view to the roadside was nice but the sun set In after awhile which made it warmer. The place or quite spacious and seating a little close knit but not too worrisome. They have some space for office meetings as well. Thanks !

Panko fried chicken and chips are very crispy. But french toast with greek yoghurt and blueberries is soggy. Martini coffee is not very special but hot mocca is delicious. Anyway very expensive but not extraordinary. The place gives a claustrophobic feeling due to the less space 🙃🙃

It was a decent first experience. Coffee was good, good breakfast, like it that they have just the toast + eggs with add-on options as you like. The prices are relatively on par with other upscale coffee shops. They open early, which is a big plus! Given the current situation, it's a bit too crowded for my liking, almost all tables were full, closed space, etc. So something to consider if you are concerned. Parking is definitely an extreme sport.
