Incredible. A rambling and eclectic collection of toys spanning 4 floors. Everything from Barbie to old, rustic hand-made toys. The presentation initially appears to be purely random hoarder, but before long it becomes apparent that in most of the rooms there is an amazing wierdness at play. Some of the displays are pure art. Reactions vary from "cute" to "I had one of those!" to "why is that baby holding it's own head". Kids will like it, but adults will truly appreciate the sheer volume of sensory input. It's strange and wonderful and totally worth the admission.

I am visiting Mexico City from the USA. I am here for a few days, looking for things to see and do. Many other museums are closed Mondays and this one looked like it might be interesting. What can I say? You get what you pay for. The 75-peso admission works out to less than $4 US, so I was not expecting much. On the positive side, some of the toys are interesting. And I like that I could take photos. Having said that, I'll repeat what others have said about it being dirty, disorganized, poorly lit, and poorly-labelled. I get that they're trying to conserve electricity, but they could have motion sensors to turn on lights. It's annoying to have to look for staff when I walk into a poorly-lit room and want to see better. There are lots of staff on laptops at the entrance, but they don't seem very attentive. I had to leave my briefcase on entering, which is fine, but I should not have had to wait almost twenty minutes to get it back because no one answers the bell. My suggestions would be: - Motion sensors on lights, so a room lights up when you enter. - Better cleaning. - Signs to explain exhibits, or staff who actually know enough to explain things to guests. I'm not angry about the 75 pesos. I'm just sad that a museum that could be so much better is just left to deteriorate due to poor staffing.

This Museum of Antique Toys has a very modest exterior and I almost skipped it because of that, but am very glad I did not. There is also parking for free on the premises. If you are into toys, this place is an absolute must-see, holding over 20,000 playthings from the 1900’s to the 1980’s and spanning four floors. The inside is like a maze which is quite confusing and seemingly disorganized with the Barbie section, the Lucha Libre section, the books, all kinds, it is incredible and I actually spent an hour in there, that’s how interesting it was. I subtracted a star because there were several areas with poor lighting, they should invest in LED lighting. The toys came from a Mexican-born Japanese architect who started collecting when he was 10 years of age. It also sells vintage toys if you want to start a collection of your own, and I saw several antique Kodak Instamatic cameras for sale.

Probably the best museum ever. Filled to the brim with cool old toys & excellent graffiti. And lots of it is for sale. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

One of my favorite places em Mexico City. Spent 4hours looking thru every single detail. The Barbie collection was amazing as well as the Mexico 68 part. It was very empty and they have a store by the end of the journey. Amazing!

We came expecting an antique toy museum and got endlessly more. This is an art museum. It may not be for everyone, but we absolutely loved it. Magical, impractical, well-loved, interactive, marvelously chaotic, impressive, and above all, beautiful. Don't come here if you're boring, uncreative, un-fun, and require marble hallways in your tourist attractions.

So I think this is a small independent collection but whoever runs it is an absolute wizard!!! Even though a lot of the toys are not the kind of thing I personally go for I still found the Collections great and of course there was plenty that was for me. Well thought out and pieces together with some great art. DONT HESITATE-ABSOLUTE MUST!!!

My daughters and I had a great time here for about 1.5 hours. They loved the old Barbies and other vintage toys and artwork. It was empty when we went on a Thursday afternoon but is a great value at only 50 pesos per person (and free for small children).

The BIGGEST HIDDEN GEM in MEXICO CITY!!!!!!!!!! One of my FAVORITE museums not only in Mexico city, but the ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!!!! Incredible unique museum, with an infinite amount of toys to get lost in!!! Multiple floors with many rooms of unique art decor, and a beautiful rooftop overlooking the city. My favorite parts of the museum were the the SNOOPY room, KING KONG room, and room of masks!!! Plus there is a large shop to buy unique collectors toys at reasonable prices to make your own! For nostalgia lovers, trust me, DO NOT MISS this musuem!!! I could truly spend hours indulging in everything this museum has to offer. Plus the museum entry is a great price allowing anyone to simply come in, and enjoy its magic!!!!! (FYI- I did not want to post many pictures of the toys, so that guests can truly be surprised of what they find here!) Have fun!!! And thank you Museo del Juguete Antiguo México for such a great experience and for this great memory of Mexico City!!!!!!!

This place is absolutely magical, a full-blown nostalgia smorgasbord! If you're a kid, or simply a kid at heart, you will not regret visiting. We spent a good 3 hours here, and could have stayed longer if not for a previous engagement. Do yourself a favor, and make it a point to visit this wonderland of toys of days gone by, a simpler time.

One of our favorite parts of our trip to CDMX. It’s weird in a wonderful way. When you arrive, walk up the steps to a gate/door and the ring the bell. There’s also cool artwork at the top and great views.

So many toys to see. They have several floors of antique toys. It was crazy to see how many they had. Definitely should check this place out. There are even some toys you can purchase from them if you catch something that brings you back to your childhood or if you're a collector. There are also some murals and street art at the top of the roof which was cool as well. Beware, if you need the bathroom, bring your own TP!

An incredible place that not only give you a peak into toy culture and history but allows you to buy vintage South American toys at great prices. When you visit be sure to no only take the tour but to check out the back alley and parking area which is awash in some of Mexico Cities best graffiti and other odd ball objects. If your a fan of the weird and wonderful track this place down. It's far from the tourist areas, wedged in along side auto shops, and in an area where every mural is a show stopper.

(Translated by Google) It is an incredible and little known place in Mexico City. Widely recommended. The main theme of the museum are: "The Toys", from Mexican toys, to Japanese and American toys, etc. making it relevant and giving importance in the history of humanity, but the role that it had in Mexico. It takes you by the hand remembering things from your past childhood. Making you remember memorable moments. The founder of the museum has a very particular and peculiar taste with the selection that he has been collecting throughout his life. It is important that you know that it is an independent museum, so all the resources it obtains are from what it generates from the sale of tickets and special events that they carry out. And, it is a way that these types of museums continue to survive. The founder has always been a person very committed to the subject of toys, art and activities related to Mexican wrestling and other topics. The souvenir shop is phenomenal, they sell you all kinds of vintage or old toys so you can start collecting historical pieces. I spend hours and hours in that part of the museum. This museum is one of those that cannot be missing on your list of things you should know in Mexico City, it is one of the nostalgic places that you will get lost in time. They are from these rare underground scenes of this great metropolis.

We stopped by in the afternoon on a Tuesday. The admission is 50 pesos per person, bring correct change if possible. On the street you will see a door to the right with stairs, take that and ring bell on the left of gate. When you first start the self guided tour you will probably think this is a hoarding situation that someone is charging for you to view...don't fret it's going to get really good and a tad bit creepy. There is a crazy amount of Barbie's in and out of boxes. There are trucks and jars full of doll heads. Plastic babies pop up in most toy cases. It's either four or five floors of toys also roof access to see views. Seriously I would have paid much more to see this museum. It's been the highlight.

This place is awesome! One of the most interesting places I’ve ever been. You will not find a chronological history of toys here or explanations of what you are seeing, but you will find an amazing collection of toys and artifacts used to make new art though creative displays and dioramas. The top notch street art inside and out are fun addition to the collection.

This is a huge and amazing museum. Truly a hidden gem. It's 4 stories crammed with 10s of thousands of toys from every decade of the past 100 years. We spent hours here and didn't see everything. If you like vintage toys, don't miss it.

An amazing collection of toys complimented with wonderful street art in the most amazing unmolested building. The museum is arranged over 4 floors. During our visit, we actually met the collectamaniac himself. What a gent. So precious of Matchbox from England, explaining the history of the company & the cause of their demise. Very fascinating guy! Various items are for sale, quite tempting. Well worth a visit & strongly recommend.

An amazing colection of old toys. The combination and presentation of the toys is sometimes quite artistic and surreal. It also seems quite chaotic in some places. We wondered why there are also old cigarettes packages or beer cans on display. Very cool street art presentation on the upper level. Amazing Barbie collection.

THIS IS THE GREATEST DAMN MUSEUM I'VE BEEN TO IN ALL OF MEXICO. (And i've been to dozens in Mexico City.) Not only is the place MASSIVE (Five floors, front and back areas, plus basement and rooftop) but the selection is mesmerizing. Just the epic Barbie displays which span across two entire floors are enough to occupy you for an hour. Did I mention theres an entire room dedicated to Snoopy, and even a King Kong section? Keep in mind, this place is a minimalists nightmare and a maximalists dream. But hot dang do you get your money's worth.

We were recommended this museum by a friend and so glad we stopped by! Talked with the owner Kinoshita upon arrival and he told us some amazing history about his collection (half of it isn’t even displayed at the museum!). Super rare collections of toys that brought me back to childhood. Kinoshita is very thoughtful - he even checked in on us at the end of our visit. This place is a must - so rare and beautiful!

(Translated by Google) The toys are incredible, the place leaves much to be desired, there is nothing / nobody to explain you, no information about the origin of the toys. The staff only charge and leave you adrift, they close before the indicated time and they simply take you out. Make sure you go up to the roof!

I am a refugee from Ukraine, I still have my own collection of toys at home. And I am surprised by this rich collection, which someone put together with great love; it is truly a pearl not only of Mexico. This is truly a heritage of humanity and needs to be protected and recognized. The unique artistic design, in the style of Frida Callo's paintings, immersed me in the world of childhood in Latin America, Each toy here is unique; these toys must be protected and preserved. A separate theme is the roof of this museum, from where restoration workshops and a view of the city are visible.
