Genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any bar or restaurant. Honestly if the service was good, I'd accept the mediocre food given the low prices. Bartender would go 20-30 minutes without even looking at you. Almost seemed to make it a point to serve the entire bar after I had asked him for another drink and he blew me off. I get that he was solo and the place was busy, but ultimately people at a place like this don't require 5 star service, they just want to see someone that hustles. If you wanna get a quick bite before an event at the Schott, I'd look elsewhere. I was there 2 hours and barely was able to order 1 drink and some food. The food sat in their window for I'm guessing 20 minutes and came out stone cold. My friend had to pressure someone to look in the kitchen for it as it had been a seriously long time. Would rather go to burger king. Absolutely never coming back, nearly ruined my whole day. Your bartender has a terrible attitude, and he moves like molasses.

Stopped in after a day of volunteering. Great space and fun indoors then we hung out outside and enjoyed the weather. Will be back!

Was here for a few beers before the Ohio St / Wisconsin game. Awesome spot right by the stadium. Cash only on game day not sure if that's the case all the time. Multiple porches to hang out at also. Great spot.

This place is a classic,If you want to experience Ohio State and have good food and drinks. Plus the prices are some of the lowest on campus.

My friend and I went here after class on a Wednesday. It was not busy at all, and it was quiet enough to have a private conversation. The inside has a classic, wooden aesthetic which is different than most places around campus. The food we got also tasted good, and it arrived quickly. Would recommend this place when it isn't a game day.

Very fast service. Pizza is very good. This has got to be a great game day bar. Server had a party and other tables and still took great care of us and the prices are very reasonable. Great atmosphere.

My wife and I are in town for the Elton John concert heard about “The Varsity Club” so that’s were we decided to eat. One of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. First seating is horrible second waitress we wanted to switch tables and gave us a hard time. Told us we had to cash out because she would get her tip if we chose to change our seats. Second she was an absolute b1tch to my wife who asked a very simple question about their menu. That was it up and out we were. We will never recommend this place. Don’t waste your money here go to McDonolds.

This is a pleasant sports bar. Visited on a Tuesday evening. Draft beer and appetizers were surprisingly cheap during happy hour. Wings (spicy garlic) were cooked to perfection and sauce was an excellent balance of flavor and heat. Staff was accommodating but not quite 5-star (had to ask for napkins after wings arrived). I would definitely visit here again.

Was served moldy marinara cup with the mozzarella sticks, and was charged 50 cents for ranch as a replacement due to lack of trust in cleanliness. Also there was lots of food on the floor this was at 5pm.

The staff did very well with the multitudes of people they had to wait on. This was the night of the Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks concert.

Packed on game days. Odd issue of liquor license where you can’t take indoor beer to the outdoor area and vice versa on game days. Menu consists of microwaved finger foods. Not sure if the pizza or subs, but hopefully better. Decent draft beer on tap.

The food was fabulous! We had the chips with the house dip and then burgers and fries. The waitress was really good. She was attentive without being annoying. The food came out quickly too!

Varsity Club is great because it's close to the Stadium and not a bad walk to the Schottenstein Center either. I wouldn't say its great for watching games, but if you're a Buckeye fan, you'll love the decor! The food is good and the service is great!

They have the biggest chicken tenders ever. Very crispy and good. Mozzarella sticks were great too. Very friendly atmosphere.

Great location and great food... Service was quick and amazing. Highly recommend if your going to a game or concert at Ohio Stadium (The Shoe). Get there early or you won't get a seat, cause they are that good.

First time visiting this location after the game. Was extremely crowded and very loud. Place was wall to wall people and was hard to locate a seat. The server was friendly and helpful. Pizza was good and tasty. Good experience.

My son goes to Ohio State and suggested that we go to the varsity club for lunch. This place was the bomb. My kind ♥️ of place. Great atmosphere from the minute we pulled up. I took my sons photo standing next to the statue of Woody Hayes. When we entered the staff greeted us right away and seated us. Very friendly. The service was outstanding. Food was excellent. If u are ever in columbus you have to check this place out. After exiting, you get a full view of the Ohio State football stadium. See all of you there.

We stopped in after checking into local hotel. We could only order pizza due to time restrictions with the kitchen closing. We ordered pizza which was spot on delicious. We each had to beers that were refreshing the staff was very good. We will be back again the next time we’re in town thanks for the delicious food and nice service

Went in expecting just your regular sports bar, oh how wrong I was. The 2 bartenders, Angela and Emmy were amazing. Perfect beer pours and they were very attentive. Highly recommend this bar, and if you get Angela and Emmy you are in for a experience.

I've been going here for 50 years plus. Love the joint. Yes, it is a Buckeyes hangout, but football Sundays are fun, too. Food is basic but good. Service is great, and the clientele is fun. Good times if this is your kind of fun place.

If you love Ohio State, then this is a must!! Had a super sweet server even after working 12hrs during one of the craziest football weekends against Penn State. Awesome

Noelle was my server. I came on the Michigan v Ohio game, which means it was VERY busy! Noelle found the extra time to make sure we were okay at every turn, she was the absolute best! I never had an empty drink regardless of the amount of people that showed up. Without Noelle, I think my experience would have been very different. I think she deserves more than appreciation! She was fantastic.

Varsity Club Restaurant & Bar is an old-pub favorite located in the heart of the Ohio State University campus. The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, making it the perfect place to watch the Buckeyes play. The menu offers a variety of classic pub fare, including burgers, sandwiches, wings, and salads. They also have a great selection of beers on tap, including many local brews. One of the highlights of Varsity Club is the outdoor patio, which offers a great view of campus and is a popular spot on game days. Inside, there are plenty of TVs to catch all the action, and the staff is friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a fun spot to grab a drink and watch the game, Varsity Club is definitely worth checking out.

Couldn't find our waitress, my burger wasn't even cooked! And we had to track her down to just get our bill! Horrible experience even tho you'd think being right across the stadium they'd be good!!

Classic campus dive. Good food. Great service even when fairly busy. Could have done without the American "cheese" on the hot sub.

  • 5/5 Jason 1 year ago on Google
Always get the pizza it's great. Great place on game day. This place has service inside, outside, basement, and parking lot on game day. Hot sub is disappointing, lunch meat in a hotdog bun. Jackie, Courtney, Shiloh are all wonderful servers.

The atmosphere was good, lots of Ohio State memorabilia on the walls. Not a huge menu variety but the food was great. Lots of drink options though. The bathrooms are super small though.

Wow. Came here while I’m town for a concert. Bartenders were very young and inexperienced in making basic drinks. Menu is very basic. Which we thought because it was so simple the food would be good! We were very wrong. My burger was overcooked and tasted like paper. The fries were soggy and cold. It was just a poor experience overall. We won’t be back. We will also let our friends know if in town to not go to this establishment.

The food was decent. I had the pizza. It wasn't crazy good, but certainly edible. The service was quick and friendly. I would eat there again.

Awesome service and it was on game day! They were definitely on top of things, great environment for watching the games! Everyone is friendly and they have booth seating, table seating and some bar seating. The pizza is pretty good, too!! We enjoyed watching the game here and we didn't have to spend $100 per ticket! Reasonable prices and I highly recommend!🍻🍕🏈🎉

As part of our conference at The Blackwell Inn hosted by OSU, we had a walking tour of campus, then a group dinner at the Varsity Club. We had the private room downstairs and our own bartender. The group was about 40, and we enjoyed pizzas, wings, veggie platter and Buckeye Donuts. It was a fun evening and the pizzas and wings were really good!!!

Majorly understaffed and several customs were actively having to raise their hands to get a refill or any attention. People were being seated at tables that had not been cleared. Should have closed tables or limited amount of people coming in. The waitress was working diligently, but clearly had 2x-3x more than was able to service well.
