Read on for FULL explanation of a 4 star rating. In short - if you’ve never been, this is a 5 star culinary experience. If you’ve been dining with them since their early days in Delaware - I miss the early days. Overall, you will find this an unique, flavorful small plate dining extravaganza. Dishes you’ve never seen or heard of and will never see again. (See photos following). The early days, Veritas was a small bar / restaurant with 4 tables and bar seating. The original staff was awesome. The chefs would come out to greet you and allow a little sample of something at times (or maybe that is partly because we frequented the place). Always some faves on the menu (mushroom toast, scallops, the desserts were off the charts, the egg served at an exact temperature on top of risotto that you’d stir so precisely to make this incredible result). And I’m ALL for new items and rotating menu, but some of the fun and character is lost. Unable to send “kool-aid” to the kitchen (shots to the chef - again, maybe that’s why they came to visit). The drink menus are simpler. Used to have some fabulous smoked drinks that were inspiring to watch being made. Etc. other odd thing to miss…the old Veritas appeared to get all its plates and serving ware from rummage sales. While that sounds crazy, it brought part of the eclectic party to the occasion where every plate, saucer and glass was different and having its own back story of how it came to move from your great grandmothers antique case to now presenting this delectable dish in front of you. Veritas made a great business decision to take their concept downtown and expand. 4 tables and bar certainly made it difficult to expand. It’s a great venue and nice bar above. (Same owner) but again that bar is simpler in terms of exotic and hand crafted cocktails. Used to love all the little jars of bitters and one-offs they would create and especially when Tristan would smoke the drinks for you. It’s a set menu (during Covid at least) and you’re able to pick from three options for approx 4 of your courses. Individuals can select their courses, it is not picked by the table, which was great. Each was wonderful. Again, small plate style. If you want to order additional course you may. I could have eaten more. $75 per person. And figure $100 per with one drink maybe two. Service is wonderful and each course explained in full. In the end, a wonderful dining experience that ONLY garners a 4 star from me personally as I deeply miss the old nostalgia of the original along with it quirks and oddities That made it so special. Thank you to the owner for keeping on with the high-end small plate approach and yes…we will see you again and first-timers, you will enjoy it and talk about it.

Really great culinary experience overall. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, very interesting and unique dishes. Cocktails were also top notch. Highly recommended for those looking for an adventure and appreciate excellent attention to detail with food and service. My only complaint is menu was kind of tough to read, even more so in low light. Choosing function over form with menus is always a bonus for some. The Sea bass was amazing.

Summer 2023: I’ve never been here before, but generally speaking I like high quality restaurants. The food was quite good, but I was disappointed by four things. 1. The distinct lack of chocolate in the desserts was disappointing. One of the desserts wasn’t really very desserty, but the one I got was excellent. That said, it didn’t have a lot of depth of flavor. 2. The service was mediocre for the price of restaurant, although excellent overall. There was a LOT of time between courses and I felt like it took away substantially from the cadence of the meal. The waitress we had was good, but I felt interrupted once or twice when she returned to the table. I would expect that at a $100/plate restaurant would have unparalleled service compared to places I’ve been at $30-50/plate, but I can say I’ve had significantly better service elsewhere. 3. The dish I paid extra for, the blue crab and corn chowder, was very corn-forward. The crab in the center was very good, on par with the fresh caught crab I had in Baltimore a few weeks ago, but the whole dish was just corn chowder with some really good stuff in the middle. Honestly I was really saddened when they showed me a beautiful crab cake looking thing and poured on a giant pitcher of corn sauce. I would have liked that if the corn sauce were like 1/8 as much volume. 4. And this is a big one for some folks: the server never asked about allergies. I realized this after ordering all four selectable courses. Luckily my allergen (coconut) was only present in one thing ordered by anyone at my table and that person wasn’t me. I’m fine with people eating coconut around me, so it wasn’t an issue, but it could be dangerous or deadly for someone with a serious allergy who would expect to be asked about it at a nice restaurant.

Wonderful experience. Chef Dans ability is by far the apex of the culinary arts . The staff and environment is friendly, warm, welcoming and charming. This is a perfect experience for someone who is suffering “the same old dining experience” and wants to taste excellence. Bravo chef Dan

We went for the Japan Supper Club, it was amazing. Favorites of the night were chawanmushi, the steam tofu and the king crab which had the creamiest soup.

Food was good, portion sizes are very small but we knew what we were getting into with a Tapas restaurant. The service was very good and they consistently brought out new utensils. My only gripe was I do believe it is overpriced for what you actually get, my girlfriend and I each did the tasting and had two cocktails and after tip the bill was $330.00. For $330.00 I would probably rather go somewhere with larger portions, but I also understand this is not a cheap place in the first place that I went to.

Superb attention to detail in all areas of this restaurant, starting of course w the food. I had the 5 course tasting that did leave me wanting more. Food, people. service, atmosphere, ambience, down to the glass coasters and straws all stand out. I tend to pick great places and this was exceptional. The hidden place upstairs that used to be a credit union is a very cool bonus too if you want drinks in a gem of a lounge :)

Such a fun experience! The environment is so elegant and cozy and the service was amazing. Highly recommend the fava with pecorino and pistachio, the risotto, the halibut, and of course both desserts were delicious!

My wife and I visited for our anniversary dinner. I am frequently disappointed by fine dining experiences because I go in with high expectations and enjoy fine cooking at home. They really exceeded my expectations. We got a cocktail pairing with dinner and it was a huge add. I love it when the parts are greater as a whole, and you get a lot of that at Veritas! We will definitely be back!

My wife surprised me with a reservation and night out. What a treat! We arrived a bit after they opened with a reservation. A bit hesitant to order the fixed menu, we decided to order some plates and just share. Everything was spot on. Brussel sprouts were amazing, and a great start. The gnocchi with crab was amazing, so rich and decadent. Bacon risotto which was my favorite was also so perfectly pleasing. The chicken wings were great, perfectly done wings and the whipped blue cheese was intense. The desert was like everything before it, perfectly orchestrated. Cant wait to come again! This was my favorite dining experience I have had in Columbus area. UPDATE. We have been back a couple more times. Each time more memorable and special than the last. We just enjoyed the Speck preview menu. This will need the Rustic Italian theme to replace Veritas once relocated in Columbus. It was amazing.

I can't remember if I left a review or not but here it is. I went here for my birthday on a whim. My fiancé was surprising me going to Otherworld and we were walking by and saw this place to go eat at. The service was great. Since it was last minute we were not dressed as if we belonged there but casual enough. We didn't feel like we were treated differently like disrespectful. Our waitress, I can't remember her name but she has tattoos and has a peanut allergy. She was amazing, attentive, friendly, and all around amazing. The presentation of the food and the drinks were delicious. It was my first time eating sous vide steak and it was 🤌🏽😘. It melted in my mouth. I hope to become a great chef like all the others in that kitchen. Great team. Great restaurant. I loved it. The decor is good but that's it. I love the placement of the silverware and napkin though.

New Orleans Supper Club. (Prefix menu + wine pairing) Definitely did not expect the food to be salty for a place, which is meant to be exceptional for fine dining. The visual presentation of the food is the only reason I increased a star. Ended up with a bad stomach that night. (Could have been the wine pairing which compounded to this). Out of the 5 dishes, 3 were overly seasoned. The dessert was really good. Alecia and Alacia were amazing at their job! I got a chance to find where "LUIGI" was at that night. 😉

Just bite the bullet financially and do a tasting menu here. It hurts the wallet but it's so damn good. We did the Japanese theme they've been doing this month and it was fantastic. Lot of very authentic style dishes offered. I was pleasantly surprised to see that egg custard dish done at such a high level. I'm always impressed to see these people constantly reinvent themselves on so many different styles of cuisine when there's no way they have expertise in all of them. They go so far beyond simply pulling it off. You taste a lot of love and hard hours experimenting. There's really nothing like this place in Columbus and I treasure the couple times a year I get to go. The service is top notch and every meal is something you remember vividly. That king crab rice was wild.

Unreal meal. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus! We used to live above it and now that we’re not downtown we try to still get down there, and the summer menu did not disappoint! Probably one of our favorite menus we’ve had at Veritas. Everything was incredible, if I *had* to choose some standouts it would be the corn chowder (completely disagree with another recent review that said there was “too much” chowder lol), the pork, and the sea bass. But literally everything was delicious and beautifully presented (as always). To me, there is only one other restaurant in Columbus on par with Veritas and that would be the Refectory. If you want a special, unique dinner, you must go to Veritas. Delicious!

Easily the best dining experience I’ve ever had in Columbus. The service was exception with every detailed accounted for and the ambiance for the Japanese Super Club was elegant without being kitschy or pretentious. Now on to the food, every single dish was unique, delightful, and told a story of its own. I also got the beverage pairing and that was a fun journey all on its own. I highly recommend Vertias for any special occasion or if you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience.

One of the best eating experiences I've ever had. Everything was awe inspiringly delicious and the wine pairings complemented the food so well I was left speechless at several points. The chef has managed to pack more flavor in the restrained portions of each dish than most restaurants manage to in entire meals, and somehow still managed to make the ingredients shine. I can't explain how impressed I was by the scallop, which was so flavorful and so very scallop in flavor despite the amazing and rich sauce and foam it came with. I'm definitely coming back.

So they just launched a new theme. We were expecting a Mexican menu but it switched to a Carnival theme. Yes, you read that right. A carnival theme. I was really looking forward to Mexican but we decided to give it a shot. This is without a doubt the most fun dining experience I have ever had. Everything was awesome. Cheers to everyone!

Beautiful, delicious food and great service. Sometimes at restaurants the idea of the dish is better than the actual execution, but here that's definitely not the case. Portion sizes are also just right.

Love Veritas and know going in it is an expensive, but special outing. My wife and I recently went for her birthday for the $95 tasting menu. We had picked out in advance what we would select from the online menu but when we got there the menu indicated up charges for two of our items so the tasting was actually $120/person. The difference is $50 + tax/tip on that for a total difference of $60-$65 on an already expensive event. Not the end of the world but expect better from Veritas with what feels like deceptive pricing.

Our favorite restaurant in Columbus! Innovative, delicious food, amazing drinks and superb service! We have been there five or six times already (I am known as a rabbit lady for our passion for the Hungarian rabbit stew…).

This is my second visit and will continue to come back while in Columbus. If you like to besurprised and to eat creative dishes, then do your palate a favor and dine at Veritas. Romantic enough for a date and creatively enough for an adventurous meal by yourself.

This was my first time trying out fine dining. The spring menu seems to be varied, it offers tons of options and there is something for everyone. I went in expecting something new. Wanting to see what the restaurant offered in terms of flavors or concepts, and it did not disappoint. Veritas offers a great opportunity for the skeptical customer to experience a course meal on an special occasion without going over budget. Portions are reasonable, service is amazing and the atmosphere is certainly above high standards. As a tourist attending Columbus for a conference, I will have veritas on my to go list.

Had no reservations but we were able to get seats at the bar…food was creative, well presented, great service and lady at the bar was very attentive …everything was perfect and the banana dessert was succulent…the octopus was very tender…quite a food experience but it’s a tasting menu…so picky eaters…not your best choice of restaurant…we loved it and will return for sure

Service and quality of food is phenomenal. Each dish takes you on a culinary adventure. Cannot remember the gentleman that served my party but their quality of service and expertise on the menu was 100% value build to my time here. Wine pairing was spot on for each dish. You can tell there is dedication and passion put into each plate. I enjoyed every single course and was pleasantly surprised by the ones I would have never imagined putting together. Every ingredient comes together into perfect harmony. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus.

Tried their prix fixe menu for husbands birthday dinner. Very friendly staff. Comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice and explained all the dishes. The lobster and blt dishes were so so good! So was the orange dreamsicle dessert. Memorable dinner.

My boyfriend took me out to dinner and we both loved it! The ceviche literally made me almost cry because it was so good. We did the wine flight tasting and I think the albariño was the most delicious. No pics because it legitimately was too good to take pics

The food is some of the best modern food in town, it’s not someplace I can afford to go weekly but it’s always a treat on a special occasion. We usually do the tasting menu. Service is what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. We usually find ourselves taking friends upstairs to the Citizens Trust. It’s one of the coolest bars in town.

Went in for a cocktail after a show. First time out-of-towners. Able to acquire a seat at the bar immediately. Tables were all sat for dinner. Bar staff was friendly, eloquent *top notch. A pleasure to watch the bartenders make our drinks with meticulous care. Atmosphere was upscale and inviting. Would live to come back for dinner some time. The perfect nightcap to our evening.

Incredible culinary experience doing the tasting menu. Today’s feature was the Nordic menu. The staff went above and beyond and the food was out of sight.

Nights like this just happen by chance... No planning, just out for happy hour and stumbled into this fine dinning establishment‍♂️....This meal was something special ‍♂️..... #manhattans @LuminSkybar...wine tasting @accentwineparlor and topped the night off with the perfect #fivecoursemeal paired with Champagne Perrier-Jouët Rose #fivecourses with wine pairing.... I...Salmon+Creme Frache... small ice cream cone filled with salmon, chives & cream cheese... II...Parmesan+Potato+Leek+Black Truffle...dont be afraid, cold soup.. but rich and creamy & truffles get better towards the bottom. III...King Crab+Corn+Grits...another soup like creation, super rich sauce but King Crab adds a sweetness that is everything you wish for with grits IV....Octopus+Hummus+Harissa...has to be the most amazing part of the course and probably the best #octopus you have ever eaten... hands down... sous vide for hours then fried to a crisps and flavored with heat, the hummus balances the heat perfectly V....Peaches+Cream+Brioche...Brioche is my fave no matter what it is but the Peaches & cream was the best I've ever had ‍
