We were a big company and we immediately found a good table. Even though it was Saturday night . The service was pleasant. Good beer and delicious food. I love the German pork knuckle, it was not bad, but a little dry for my taste. The sausages and lamb ribs were excellent. My friends also noted that the desserts were very tasty!👍🏼

My husband Greg and I are huge fans of Valters at the Maennerchor! We discovered Valters on Facebook on a Sunday years ago when a picture of a German fried bologna sandwich showed up on our feed and we agreed “we have to have that!” We went that day and have been loyal “guests” (as the owner Valter will say) ever since. Now that we’ve moved to Florida, when we come back to Columbus a trip to Valters is a must!! My husband orders French onion soup everywhere we travel and I can assure you that Valters is the very best. In fact he’s ruined us. His French onion soup is the standard by which all others pale in comparison. He uses bone marrow and drippings from his prime rib - the flavor is so deep and delicious! Nothing compares. We dream about it from Florida. Another favorite is the Rhein Trio (although we substitute the weisswurst with Polish bratwurst) and his homemade mustard and sauerkraut is spot on with flavor! This trip we shared Valters pork, schnitzel, and homemade spatzel. The pork is tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside and so well seasoned! This is one on my favorites!!! Valter is a passionate and excellent chef and he always makes his rounds at his restaurant to make sure everything is great. He’s such a warm soul. You need to experience his cooking, it’s quite the treat! GO NOW!! ❤️

We visited Valters while we were passing through Columbus and we were not disappointed! Some of the best lamb I have had in my life! The location was very pretty and the staff was extremely friendly! We were even lucky enough to meet and speak with Valter himself while we were there. It was a pleasure. Even though we are not from the area and we only visited once, I would definitely recommend. I know we will be back the next time we are in town.

Everything was wonderful! Reuben was large, messy and absolutely delicious! Yummy homemade crispy potato chips. Red cabbage was perfectly cooked. Awesome shaded porch thanks to extra large umbrellas. Superior service.

This restaurant is set in an older unique looking structure right along High Street. They make great use out of their patio with great simple decor and well maintained landscaping. Our waiter was amazing. He was quick and attentive. Had such a great personality, nice and chill. Got our orders accurate and quickly. The food was of great quality. I had a spring mix salad with chicken and it was delicious. It was served with a baguette so good you'll be tempeted to ask for another. Looking forward to going back again.

This is my favorite place in German village. German Comfort food in an old school atmosphere. Valter takes a lot of pride in this place, it shows. Brunch was served in piping hot iron skillets and was amazing! Thanks Brandon, great service and we will be back 100%.

Went here for brunch with my family, and it was without a doubt the best breakfast I’ve ever had! I’ve been here 5 times now and each time I try something new it gets better every time. The staff is so friendly and makes you feel at home. I got the wings (some of the best I’ve had) and the hangover skillet breakfast and it was so flavorful! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus and is such a gem.

Really a great place! It was a little pricey, but it was really good. We sat outside and it was perfect weather. The service was really good. I had the hangover special. It was a good amount of food but not overly too much. My wife had the french toast with fruit which was made with baguette bread instead of normal bread. It was really good! We also tried the lemon cheesecake which was alright. The style they have is almost gelatinous and springy, which really isn't for me. Tried the cream puffs as well which were really good! Definitely will be back though, thanks guys!

It's criminal that I only just discovered this place considering my love of German cuisine. The atmosphere and decor are amazing and you get a lot of good food for the price. My fiancé and I were stuffed afterwards and that was just our lunch. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

The food was delicious. Informal atmosphere and great food. If you order a large beer expect a liter of beer. I had the steak with was served in a skillet.with fries. Delicious. The schnitzel and other offerings were deemed excellent by my tablemates.

Fantastic experience for a couple of first timers celebrating our birthdays. Server was on point in all aspects, don't think we've ever had a better one. Great recommendations, food was out quick, fresh and delicious! Will be back for certain!

Dope place! GREAT FOOD. I've only been for brunch but so delish. Their skillets are bomb dot com. Get brunch here then go walk it off at Schiller Park. A little on the $$$ side but good quality food.

SPECTACULAR! The pretzel was fresh, soft and decadent and the mustard is to die for. We did not have a reservation, but they made room for us. We were checked on by 3 different people to assure we had everything we needed and that it was to our liking. The only regret is we couldn't stay for dinner!

Another great takeout order from Valter's. The Jagerschnitzel and the Sauerkraut Balls are so good that I keep coming back for more. Support local restaurants during the pandemic.

I had a lovely lunch here with my family - the service is great and the food is delicious! We started with the Rhein Trio which is a nice way to sample the different sausages and get the homemade sauerkraut. My schnitzel sandwich was perfection and I really enjoyed the authentic German potato salad (its served warm!). They even had Bitburger beer on draft which is a family favorite.

It was a beautiful day, we were thirsty and near the Brewery District. The patio called to us as we passed on High Street. We were seated next to a large birthday party group who interacted with us about my DD-214 Alumni shirt. There were Veterans in their group as well. We ordered a couple German Brews and a pretzel. The pretzel was hot! It was tasty as well with a couple of the mustard sauces. The beer was awesome and refreshing on this sunny day. We will be back when in the area for sure!

Incredible German breakfast skillet that really hits the spot on a cool fall evening. I’m not even sure what a German breakfast looks like but I hope this is what they’re having over there! Considerate and friendly service too!

Incredible location and incredible food. I thought I had eaten at almost every good restaurant the city had to offer but I was wrong. I had the brunch option and was incredibly impressed with the whole package for a good price as well. Definitely a great brunch spot

An excellent gem of a place. Perfect for brunch in my opinion with the options they have. Staff is friendly and fast with service. Outside seating was comfy and the place is lovely. They do have a parking lot next to the place so you don’t have to worry about parking. What I recommend would be to go around brunch time and get one of their mimosas that they have. In terms of what to try I have their breakfast sandwich that am amazing mustard on it with egg and Bologna that was insanely good. Most people think Schmidt’s when thinking of German village but this place is a place to try in my opinion over Schmidt’s. What they got here is quality food and service.

Walked here after having engagement photos taken in Schiller Park. Saw the reviews and wanted to enjoy some authentic German food. Valter's did not disappoint. Immediately upon walking in, I could tell that it was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. All the employees were very sociable and nice. Our server, who was also bartending, was very prompt and kept us taken care of from the get-go. We ordered a Bavarian Pretzel, the Jägerschnitzel, and the Pork Schnitzel. The pretzel was a good size, soft but with a nice crust, and the dipping sauces tasted great. The entrees came out quickly and were hot and fresh. Both tasted great, lots of flavor and cooked right. The crust was not soggy, nor was it burnt, and the meat wasn't chewy or fatty. I was also impressed by the portion sizes. They were large, and I felt like my money was very well spent. I think what most surprised me was seeing Valter himself walking about the restaurant, and just as we were finished paying, he came to our table and greeted us, and chatted for a moment. As we went out the door, they even handed us a complementary bottle of wine, which we were not at all expecting but happily accepted. Can't recommend Valter's enough. Definitely go out and support this local restaurant.

My partner and I went on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. There was a bit of a wait on the food but, considering they make everything in house I would say it was well worth the wait. Our waitress was extremely helpful and attentive as well. Overall great experience and we will be back!

If you're planning a trip to German village in Columbus, Valters is a must. I was raised in Germany as a military brat and finding authentic German food has not been easy in the states as one could imagine. Valters is everything I hoped it would be, schnitzel, bratwurst, and swinehexen, just to name a few. The food was just as I remember having in Germany. The decor is that of a German gast haus, or any restaurant you might find around Berlin or Frankfurt. The staff is friendly and attentive. Germany will always be home to me, and Valters is the closest I have been in 30 years. If you are looking for authentic German food, look no further.

Great German restaurant in German Village. Good selection of food. Great service. They take reservations but there was no wait for a table at dinner time. Although we did go on a Monday night so unsure about weekend wait times. Recommend giving it a try if you haven't been. Prices are reasonable.

This place is incredible. The ambience, food, staff, would give 10/10 for all. Tried both the dark and light beers on the menu, both are awesome. Food - Ordered 1) kettle chips with beer cheese, was super delicious 2) Bratwurst was amazing as well

Love the pork shank and the lamb here! We sat out on the patio and it was a lovely atmosphere. The interior is cozy and comfortable as well. Service is very friendly as well.

My wife and I've been here quite a few times. The atmosphere is charming and the food is outstanding! The wait staff is quick, friendly and chill! I'm a big fan of the Breakfast Hangover with extra breakfast mustard (trust me it's goooood!) and my wife loved the fried bologna breakfast sandwich. We've both had the prime rib for dinner and we WILL have it again. It's a good idea to make a reservation for dinner. I highly recommend Valters!

Today was our first time here and we had brunch. We love German food. My mom’s family came from Germany in the 1920’s and lived in German Village. If my mom and great grandma were still alive they would love this place as much as we did! What a hidden gem! Go and tell all your friends!!

We actually stopped here as our final stop on a mystery picnic date. We were supposed to leave and eat at Schiller's Park, but it was pouring down rain. So they graciously offered to let us have our picnic on their outdoor patio. Their food and wine for our picnic was delicious and the staff are obviously fantastic!!! We even stayed longer to enjoy a few extra drinks.

Are you from Europe or have European origins? Have you ever wanted a taste of genuine, authentic German food? Well look no further. This place isn't like some tourist trap filled with sterotypypical decorative props or Lederhosen on the walls. This place was founded and built from the ground up with heart and soul from a real German. The food, like the Schnitzel, is exactly what you'd get overseas with no bells or whistles. Highly recommended. 👌

We both ordered the rueben. It comes with chips as is. The chips were good -- i'd be curious to try the fries next time I'm there, however please note it's a $4 up-charge (at cost). The rueben was amazing. Mouth watering, thick, and full of flavor. We both loved our meal. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your food in a safe environment during this pandemic!

I've visited for brunch and lunch at this point, and both were phenomenal. The service on both occasions was solid, but the good really stands out. The breakfast has with the house-made corned beef is among the best in the city. The location is easy to get to, and they have a few parking spots to themselves; a rarity in this area. Highly recommend dining here if you're in the area.
