Basil Thai Restaurant Brewery District

Restaurant Thai restaurant

😠 I used to eat at Thai Basil short North, both the one on High and the one on Essex. I guess Essex store closed so we ordered from The brewery district one. The portion sizes were very small. The cashew chicken was more like a soup, it was all sauce. The wontons are now different. Before Thai Basil... People often mention Thai, order, good, Basil, ordered, time,

Based on this order alone (delivery) this was disappointing Pad Thai. It was cold, a pile of mush with no flavor at all and definitely no spice (medium). Might try again but it would have to be drastically different to change my review.

Food was okay. Not the most flavorful curry and a rather interesting choice of spices. Thai soup was good but pricey for a bowl considering the ingredients. Atmosphere was a bit cold and sterile- no music playing, etc. Wraps pictured were also okay; nothing special. Service was fine, but not incredibly attentive. We visited the downtown location. Parking meters, no lot.

The cashew chicken was more like a soup, it was all sauce. The wontons are now different. Before Thai Basil was one of the few places I could get good wontons with the four corners. NOTHING was spicy despite ordering hot. I don't know what's going on with you guys but lowering your standards is not the way to go. Food was priced about two times what it should have been. I'm not sure if I've got it in me to try a second time or not maybe we just got a bad one but based on the other reviews here, maybe not.

Last night was my first time at this restaurant and I loved it! Excuse the picture of half eaten food, but it was so good I forgot to take a picture beforehand! They have gluten free options which is awesome. My only two complaints are that they don’t answer their phone when you call and the Apothic Red Blend wine tasted awful. I accidentally left my credit card at the restaurant and have been unable to reach them, so I had to cancel my card. I live outside of Columbus. I tried the red blend and I’m not sure if the bottle had been opened longer than four days, but it had a poor taste. Overall, I would absolutely recommend coming here. Just don’t forget your credit card 🙂

The food here was outstanding! The service was also really good and everyone there was friendly. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes!

I eat lots of Thai while I travel around for work. Never been to one I wouldn’t go back to even if it was just okay. I won’t be back to Basil. Pot stickers were still cold inside, looked frozen store bought. Service was friendly but horribly slow. Younger servers which is fine, super nice but you can tell they haven’t been properly trained....no straws, no silverware, no attention to detail.

They could do little bit more on service . When it comes to food, they do have good taste. However for some people it could be low on quantity side. So order multiple things if possible. Service was not right, but thats because they only had one person working upfront. Our ( or whole restaurant's) server tried her best to keep everything on place .

Great space. Would be really good for events. This place should be packed open to close based on appearance. But at the time I went the people were missing detracting from the experience. Many of the menu options can be ordered vegan. I ordered the Pad Thai. It was average. The noodles seemed undercooked, could have used more sauce, but the spice was just right. The food portion was too small for the price. I also ordered a Moscow mule. The bar was out of vodka so the drink.was made with rum instead. It was okay but how does a bar run out of vodka? Wait staff was fine, attentive. Not many people to wait on though at 8 pm on a Thursday. I give three stars for the food and drink, but give an extra star for the space and location. If the food gets its improved and the proportion to price ratio is corrected this place should be packed like the space deserves.

Ordered takeout, the portion was very small for a $15 plate. Fortunately mine tastes good but could not say the same for my wife's yellow curry.

Due to covid they are still takeout only, and I recommend coming in to order takeout in person. The delivery apps are unreliable and sometimes take so long to get orders, leaving your food to sit and get cold/soggy. Their Tom yum soup is delicious and their green curry is another one of my favorites!! Have only had good experiences from here.

The crab Rangoon was so tough and chewy, I almost choked on it. Twice. It’s like shoe leather. I order two orders of pad thai at different spice levels. They both tasted exactly the same. I ordered take out and they put the take out in those square Chinese take out containers. I dumped my container out into a bowl and the whole thing stayed in the same shape as the container. It was a giant cube of 90% chewy noodles and 10% chicken. I can’t express how incredibly disappointed I am in this restaurant

Two stars because this is the second time I've ordered carry out on Uber Eats, they accept my order, and when I go pick it up they are closed. The app says my order is ready, Google and Uber Eats say this restaurant is open. Definitely not ordering carry out again. If you're not open Sunday after 8 update your sites!!

Pad Thai was mushy and tasteless, had zero bean sprouts and for some reason had carrots and cilantro. Since it had no actual heat or flavor it just tasted like soapy cilantro. Also paid for extra protein and had maybe 3 small pieces of chicken. The worst Thai food I’ve ever had.

Pad Thai was so bad I became a worse person for it. The $3 kit from Kroger is 10x better. Would not recommend.

I've gone to Basil for years and have loved it every time. I even had my baby shower in the event space when the Short North location was open. I took my then boyfriend many years ago hoping he would love it too and he did! We now pick up food from Basil often.

Disappointing food, via UberEats delivery. My pad kee mow was drenched in soy sauce. The chicken was dry. Her pad Thai was supposed to be chicken but was tofu, and was similarly soggy and tasteless. As an Asian American from the Bay Area who’s traveled twice to Thailand, this was pretty subpar. As more of us out-of-staters from the coasts, where excellent Asian food thrives, move to Columbus, the demand for good Thai food will only increase. I hope Basil Thai will improve their products so they can take advantage of more experienced, scrutinizing palates.

This place serves really excellent Thai food. Probably my favorite Thai food downtown. I love the panang curry and the pad ka prow. Most recently I put in a lunch order for three people on a Monday around noon and they had it all ready in 25 minutes, fresh and delicious. It is a little hard to find, the entrance is kind of nestled within a brick office plaza. Expect to spend around $20/person. If you are ordering during peak hours (weekend evenings) it may be best to place your order via phone to get a time estimate from a real person instead of doordash’s algorithm.

Sat a table ofn12 of us on a Friday night. Food was awesome, service was fabulous. If you are on the fence with this place, definitely try it out.

Ordered through doordash, wanted to give them a second shot. Will never order again. Wrong noodles used in my Pad Se Ew. This is NOT Pad Se Ew. Ordered extra meat, was only 5 total pieces in my entire dish. Containers are cheap, not microwave safe. The food is not worth it. Save your money. 👎👎👎

The food here tastes bland. I have no other way to describe it. I’ve asked them to make it spicier but consistently it just doesn’t taste like much. Post pandemic this has turned into a ghost kitchen for Uber making pad Thai on repeat.
