Decided to have a romantic dinner for the new year. We started out with cocktails from the menu. I had the berry martini and my husband had the Mexican Poker Game or something like that. They were delicious. We had the Charcuterie Board for an appetizer and everything was wonderful. For our meals we had filets with sides and a bottle of wine that was amazing. Our filets were cooked perfectly to order and the sides were great. We had a lot of left overs! For desert I had the Crème Brûlée and my husband had the cheese cake as well as a nice port. Our waiter was wonderful and never left us waiting despite the short staffing issues. All of our food was wonderful, the atmosphere was perfect and we enjoyed a great romantic dinner. Perfect way to start the New Year. I recommend you give this restaurant a try and enjoy!

My daughter and I enjoyed our experience. Jackson was our server. He was both energetic and attentive. The company sent a birthday coupon making our experience even more enjoyable. We were also provided a dessert that my daughter loved. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

This is our third or fourth time coming for Thanksgiving. Please note some restaurants are really good and then a holiday meal is mediocre. The drinks were great. The bisque awesome as always and the rest was OK. Through the entire meal we heard squeaking which couldn’t tell if there was a bird or a mouse somewhere nearby. We will not go back next year.

What a nice and romantic place for date night! The service was great. The food and drinks were amazing! It was pricey, but way worth it for a once a year occasion.

Absolutely superb food. Though I wasn’t greeted by any other the other servers passing by me 3-4 times; not even a welcome or hello; once the front desk attendant returned she was a pleasure. Only thing that saved this review. Food was great. Expected for the price. The location is super nice as well. Going to try to come back for a drink at the bar that was so lovely looking to see if there’s a better vibe.

This restaurant did not disappoint in many categories with my first experience. From the dim, moody lighting, to the good food, you will leave mostly satisfied with your experience. J. Gilbert’s fell short due to their pricing not adding up to their table etiquette. The wait staff allowed the table to continue to be crowded throughout the experience. When a table does not select wine, wine glasses should be removed. In addition, empty appetizer plates should also be removed before adding full entree dishes. At this point, you have dishes sitting on top of dishes which is never a great experience. Although pricing is not considered high end, to the average individual, it would be, therefore table etiquette should hit the mark. Overall, this is a lovely place to have a birthday dinner, fun night out, or any special occasion. The party I was with left satisfied.

The food was delicious! Service was pretty slow but I was in a large party and our waiter had many tables. We got there at 6 pm for our reservation and didn't leave until after 9. Aside from that everything was great! Our server was so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special night out.

The service was beyond terrible. The food has no taste. It's so cluttered in the place it's more like a small bar that sells food then a restaurant. It's expensive for no reason. The dessert and some of the food was microwaved. There's not one thing that was good about the place except the parking was free. Don't waste your money or time. I'll say it again DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!!

    J. Gilbert’s is the place to be! Dinner is delicious. We had the flavorful Oscar filet, The Lobster tail with lump crab cakes. If you’re in the Worthington area it’s worth the trip. Nice atmosphere and Jackson was very helpful.

Not worthy for $110/person. Overall, the food is just average. Oysters are the size of your thumb and thin like piece of paper. Lights are pretty dim and the decoration looks old. No complain about the service.

Decided to eat here with my special someone for our anniversary dinner date. For the price we were both expecting to leave satisfied. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Starting with the service. It took 2 separate wait staff to bring our bread and we waited 20 minutes for our bottle of wine. We are then told they don’t have any left of the wine we chose. We were tucked away in a corner and rarely checked on. The table that came in 30 mins after us got their food before us. The food was decent but nothing special. I got the strip steak and Texas Roadhouse prepares it just as good for half the price. For nearly $260 a better choice would’ve been a chain restaurant. Will not be visiting again.

My family and I enjoyed two separate meals here. The steaks are great as are the scallops. They, of course, have an excellent selection of wines and Sunday’s are half price for a bottle. The servers are friendly and attentive as well as humorous. This is a great place for a great meal. Update 5/1/2023: and another great meal, great service, great visit. All had good meals and drinks. The youngest's order was misunderstood and immediately taken care of. He was treated as any adult would with even the manager stopping over to confirm the update and then that everything was great. Highly recommend a visit.

Original seating was a booth that was too tight to seat our party of 6 rather more suited for 4 people; had to request a table elsewhere to accommodate us. The wait staff was sub par. Vegetable (green beans) were under cooked & sent back. Food was ok but not stellar as I would expect based on the price but to be fair the steak was cooked to order. We won’t be back as we feel we get a better dining experience at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant.

I got a salmon with asparagus and a carrot cake to go. The salmon is quite possibly the best roasted salmon I ever had. The Carrot Cake was pretty good also. The inner icing was a bit sweet, but overall it was in my top 5.

Candace was my server. She was so pleasant, cordial and attentive. I really enjoyed meeting her. Should I return to JGilbert's, I will request her to be my server again. She checked on me several times. I noticed that she stayed so very calm no matter how many customers she was attending to, and she was very busy. Because of her, I had a very relaxing, enjoyable experience. She was sweet and did her job perfectly!!!

Upscale steak house through and through. We were in town on a business trip and had dinner here with our team; the location was walking distance from our hotel. Food and service were great! But for me the highlight were definitely the desserts!

    J. Gilbert's never disappoints and remains the best value in town! Bone-in ribeye was perfectly prepared as ordered, the creamed corn was fabulous and right down to the sourdough bread and Ceasar salad with the Asiago cheese crisp... all well executed! I will continue to recommend J. Gilbert's as the best value because you get bread and two sides with all the entrées.

Nice decor, very amenable servers, obligatory manager visit, great fresh veggies with the steak and potato. I even liked that the potato was baked with a salt crust, but the steak was also salted, considerably, before serving. If you are on a low sodium diet, *definitely* tell them, it will totally change what they have to do in the kitchen. Steak was perfectly cooked, baked potato was fluffy and nice. Roasted asparagus was fresh and lovely! Almost $100/person with a glass of wine and one dessert per two people.

Weird "nit-pick" but all three times I have attended the menus look gross and stained. But other than that it was good-great. Good atmosphere ( needed improvement in visual cleanliness). Food was good but not the quality of Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse or The Refectory. But overall good experience for those looking for a higher end meal with a lower end budget.

We are very pleased to have found this place on the spur of the moment. From Candice our waitress to the Wood Fired food that was cooked to perfection. Yes, i mean to Perfection. The steak just melted in your mouth. So if you in this area and have a chance to stop in for a great meal. Don't let that chance slip by.

Great service, great food, expensive. Charlotte G knew all about gluten allergies and took great care of my family. We all had a wonderful time. Expect your food to be cooked perfectly and they have a great personal touch. They currently have a tiered system where you can get an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert all for a flat rate price. Consider doing that. They have coke.

Dinner for two was wonderful. Prix Fixe menu is a nice option. Chicken tortilla soup and lobster bisque were both delicious and flavorful. Filet was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. Crab cake and maple bourbon shrimp were amazing. Dessert was cheesecake with blueberry compote. We will definitely be back!!

Atmosphere is outstanding and the food was delicious. Staff are very polite and professional. Went here for our anniversary and we were sat in a small private room. Had a great time.

This is definitely an adult-oriented restaurant, reflected in its menu offerings and prices (there is no "kid's menu"). The decor is a cozy rustic style, with dim lighting, exposed brick, hardwood floors and fireplaces, which makes me want to visit again in the colder months. They offer a decent wine list, and steak and seafood are the focus of the dinner menu. Your best bet is to go for the Prix Fixe Menu, which offers a three-course meal at a set price (soup/salad; entree; dessert). Going this route winds up costing less than if you were to purchase each course individually. Service was attentive and professional. My husband is particular about steak, and he was not blown away by his filet mignon. It wasn't terrible, he said, but it was far from the best he's ever had - just kind of "meh." Regardless, we had a good experience overall, and we will likely return in the future.

The food, cocktails and hospitality at J. Gilbert's is outstanding. We have known some of the staff for years. The menu has remained the same since we dined there over the years. The bar has a different menu than the dinning room. The atmosphere is comforting with low lighting and fireplaces. It is expensive.

My wife and I took our son here to celebrate his birthday while we visited him at The Ohio State University. Everything about the experience was exceptional in every way. The server was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The ambiance was warm and comfortable, and we loved the fireplace. The food and the food presentation were both exceptional, and I am very picky about both when I’m dropping that kind of cash. Prices were as expected, and reasonable. I will definitely be back each time I’m in Columbus and in need of a fantastic meal with good friends. Highly recommend!

We got together at J Gilbert's for a business dinner (8 folks) on a Tuesday evening and were treated to a private room. The service was great and just enough, not over attentive. Wait times for food and drink were good, and the food was excellent. This was a positive experience and I would return on my own.

Party of 5. We were sat at a table that felt like it was right on the middle of an aisle. People kept squeezing behind us. Aside from that the food was great. We tried and enjoyed the charcuterie appetizer. I had the Prix Fixe, which came with 3 courses. The salad is huge, but the dressing was very light. I ordered the 4 oz Filet with shrimp and it was a perfect portion with the appetizer salad and dessert, which I got the Crème Brule. The bathroom could stand a checkup every so often during the evening.

Service was great but the food left something to be desired for the price. The ribs were not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. The fries were over salted. Asparagus was nothing special. The filet wasn't bad but also nothing to write home about. House salad didn't have much flavor in the dressing, but it was an interesting mix of greens. I did however enjoy the chocolate cake.

This was the best dinner I’ve ever had! I had the lobster tail, mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. We also had the oyster Rockefeller for an app. I had a Moscow mule that was perfect. My lobster literally melted in my mouth. We’re from out of town and we’re so glad we came here. Also our sever was amazing!
