Okay, why did I pay a million bucks for this samich?! The Weekend said it best, "because you're worth it." LOL This samich was absolutely delicious, and the ingredients were so fresh. The carrot cake left me speechless! Amazing would be an understatement. The staff was also attentive and courteous. A special thanks to Vanessa and Payton, who answered my question and were super attentive to the customers.

Food and service is always consistent. This location is in a very walkable area and plenty of parking if you don’t reside nearby. Great patio if the weather is nice. Earth day is always best celebrated with Northstar! Thanks for the freebie 👍

Enjoyed celebrating Earth Day with their free veggie burger deal. While we're not big on veggie burgers - these were flavorful and not dry. Their side salad was fantastic.

We visited on a Thursday afternoon, were able to find a table, and our food came out pretty quickly. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order her. The Buddha bowl is absolutely amazing and I would hands down recommend it to everyone, however, like I mentioned, anything on the menu is fair game for being amazing. The staff here is also incredibly friendly and creates such an awesome environment. I will definitely be visiting again and believe this is a must visit when in the Columbus area.

Beautiful inn although I was just there for a tour, not to actually stay there. The garden is open to the public at certain times of the day so it’s definitely worth stopping by.

As always Northstar delivered fantastic food and service. I ordered the classic cheeseburger and was absolutely blown away by the flavor of the patty and delightful presentation. The burger itself was cooked to a perfect medium and paired excellently with the rosemary aioli that came with the fries. If you're visiting from out of town, or just looking for a new place to try, give Northstar a stop!

Absolutely exceeded expectations, great friendly staff, fancy ambiance, very great experience. I got the pimento burger with a side salad, both were fantastic. The burger is very high quality and has a great char. And the salad is better than expected. I also got the hot apple cider, tasted great and very nice presentation. I also recommend the carrot cake, very delicious dessert. Overall fantastic experience, would recommend to anybody.

I’m happy to report that this location now has the Thai burrito!! Since they changed the original Buddha bowl I haven’t eaten here, it was my favorite. The Thai burrito has a similar ingredients and the awesome peanut sauce. Now if they’d just go back to the original Buddha bowl I’d be in heaven.

I came here with a friend for a work meeting and lunch. They have a system where you order at the counter and then you get a large card to get served (you seat yourself). The food came fairly quickly and everything was good-- love all the vegetables and the salad was well tossed in the dressing. I also had the green smoothie, which I'd recommend. I got a cookie and mason jar carrot cake to go. So far, the chocolate chip cookie is delicious. I didn't really like the way things were organized at the counter for people to stand in line. I think it can get a little congested. The server was great, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I like that the booths have a lot of privacy, so even if there are a lot of people around, it's good for staying focused on your table. I would come again!

Love eating here every time I visit Columbus!! First time having brunch and their sweet potato hash (plus bacon) was amazing!!! Also, their freshly squeezed juice is a must!

Rounding out our road trip! @northstarcafe started with day old $1 cookies. killer peanut butter with whole peanuts! Chocolate Chip and Brownie Cookie. The Everyday Egg Sandwich Scrambled Ohio organic eggs on a brioche bun with chives and melted cheddar cheese & bacon - eggs were fluffy the bread was homemade bacon was perfect. Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Warm buttermilk biscuit, split and griddled, covered in spicy housemade sausage gravy With two scrambled eggs - by far the best food I had in Columbus this trip. It’s the one thing I definitely am looking forward to next time I’m in town. we also got fresh squeezed orange juice & cold brew coffee. Definitely a five-star meal!

We have had a positive experience here before but tonight was above and beyond. We are so impressed with how kind and helpful the staff were! We had our toddler with us and everyone made sure we had everything we needed without us needing to ask. It felt so welcoming of families. There was a small mix-up with our order but it was corrected in minutes. The food was delicious as always, especially the Burrito & Crispy Kale pizza.

The food was really good, I had a classic cheeseburger w/ fries and the kids had chicken avocado sandwich w/ fries then both of us had vanilla coffee crush soda (perfect sipping soda) I can't give five stars because the environment of the restaurant itself. Open kitchen with a dining area full of metal, wood, glass, and concrete nothing to dampen the multitude of sounds. All the kitchen fans and standard cooking sounds, abundant conversation, and music combine into a nightmare for anyone with sound sensitivities. It was actually loud enough it started triggering a migraine and was so loud we had trouble ordering because we couldn't clearly hear the cashier. If we go back we'll definitely get it as curbside because that was too much.

The aesthetic of the place isn't bad it's definitely minimalistic. The food was sorta off and expensive. I got a overdressed date chicken salad, not the best for 27 dollars. Olive gardens Greek salad is better if anything. I'd give it a 4/10. Order something better maybe. Wait staff was really nice though.

The food is consistently VERY GOOD, so I have to give them 5-Stars for the quality, quantity and freshness of their product. However, their menu is very limited, and changes frequently, so if you have an item you’re looking forward to, it might not be available. And, Sunday’s menu is limited to brunch items. When they have it, their mushroom frittata is outstanding. Their fish sandwich, cheeseburger, shortbread pizzas and salads (with the champagne vinaigrette) are my favorite items on the menu. BUT, they WAY-OVERPRICED, so bring credit card $$$. And sometimes the staff (you order at the counter, and they bring your food to your table) can be a little curt, rude & pretentious 🤨 and I’m not sure why.

Extremely flavourful regular burger with excellent cookies. The strawberry smoothie had an interesting orange flavour to it. The building was super busy when I visited, but everything was still clean and fast. Overall a pleasant experience.

Went to a late lunch. All the workers and managers were extremely professional and courteous. I did order a pizza which was cold when brought to the table. Was provided another pizza which was warmer in the center rather than cold. They did try to fix it but probably should of been comped. I would try it again but not the pizza. Recommended but surely not the pizza.

I like their scones, and their sandwiches. Love the quality of the food and the service. I wish they add Cappuccino to their menu. After all it’s supposed to be a cafe. The 3 stars is primarily for 1 thing - Coffee. For a place where ‘cafe’ is their last name the coffee sucks. The coffee here taste like gas station coffee despite the exotic names and locations the coffee comes from.. Time and time again I try and I dislike it. I think the coffee water proportions are off - the flavor is hidden somewhere and you can never get to it.

  • 3/5 Tracie S. 2 years ago on Google
The food was fantastic. I had a vegetarian burger and my friend had a regular burger and they could not have been better. I would give a solid 4 or 4.5 rating on the food, except that they are "order at the counter" but there are no menus at the counter - only one tiny one thumbtacked to the wall and everyone was crowding around to see it so I felt rushed and didn't really get to decide on what I wanted. I've never seen an "order at the counter"restaurant NOT have a menu board above the counter for all to see. Also, they only offer off-brand soda, which did not taste good, and the water was tepid not cold. When I asked for ketchup the waiter "did not know if they had any" and it took him quite a while to find some. Is ketchup out of style now? The restroom was very very clean which is a bonus. The parking lot is not well marked and the storefront is easy to miss so it's easy to drive by the first time. I'd eat here again .

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Columbus! They get pretty busy on the weekends so make sure to get there a little early. It’s open seating so it can be a little hectic when they’re really slammed. My go to is the sweet potato hash with no red peppers. So flavorful and just enough food! The mushroom frittata is also very good. The mushrooms aren’t too overpowering. For drinks, their house-made ginger ale and the vanilla coffee crush are both worth a try. The latter has a unique flavor due to some added citrus. Wasn’t sure if I’d dig it but it really works!

One of my favorite spots. Everyone is so friendly here + the food is high quality and delicious. A waitress stopped what she was doing and helped us with seating our baby. Another gentlemen addressed our flat soft drink by switching the carbon dioxide, resulting in a crispy and refreshing cream soda :)

Very disappointed with the recent menu changes (no longer offering sweet potato fries and removal of Beechwold salad from menu). To me these items were quintessential Northstar and since they took them off it hasn’t been the same since. It’s a little pricier then other places but things usually turn out quickly with high quality ingredients. Still a fun place to go periodically but definitely not as frequently as I previously visited

  • 3/5 Daniel S. 1 year ago on Google
Have been NS fan since they first opened in short north. Prices leaped recently and it is now pricey. I could be sympathetic but my issue is quantity and ingredients. The cookies seem to be very different and the burger seemed like less meat. Raise prices as everything else has but also take away quality and quantity. Sad. Staff is awesome and still tasty food but be prepared for different experience and price than past. I would still recommend but with caution. I will still go but far less first of mind since other options are more enticing now.

This is a pretty decent place to grab some breakfast. I had a hash and all the components were complimentary of each other; the egg was perfect and the veggies were tender and roasted to near perfection. Quality over flavor on that dish. The flavors were very subtle, but overall an enjoyable dish. They have some atypical biscuits -- more bready than average, but still soft, buttery, and delightful. I think the menu has room for more options that pop; it's kind of basic. I don't know how many other things I'd be excited to order. Nonetheless, I wouldn't deter anybody from giving Northstar a try. 4.4/5 for me

My meal was intensely delicious and the staff were very sweet and personable. A few of them were regular patrons of the establishment I help manage and were excited to talk to me about it and I thought that was pretty cool.

Generally an incredible experience but be aware when you’re getting curbside, you will have smaller portion sizes. The burrito is consistently very much smaller than when made for dine in. There’s recipes here that have not made it back from Covid too. No sweet potato fries either.

You order everything at the counter you pay and they bring the food. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries which were delicious. I also ordered the green smoothie which was the best smoothie I've had.

  • 5/5 Eileen G. 7 months ago on Google
Great experience, super friendly service, consistent food experience. My favorites are the sweet potato hash, mushroom frittata, Beechwold salad, and the smoothie bowl but there isn't a bad item on the menu.

  • 4/5 Kassandra R. 6 months ago on Google
The food is great, service was good for a semi service style of restaurant. For ref, two sandwich and pizza was almost $70. So while the food was very good it was not worth the extra $ in a place that you basically serve yourself. Very clean, staff was nice and helpful.

It's clear to see why this is the standard for Columbus Restaurants! The overall atmosphere is open and inviting, great friendly staff that helps enhance the experience, and the food.. my goodness! Everything is well executed, and tastes as fresh as can be! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the classic cheeseburger with aloi for the fries, and for the vegan/veggie lovers you will not be disappointed in the Northstar Burger. The Thai burrito can also be made for vegetarians or with chicken. If you're feeling something lighter, than go with the Mexicali salad for a great southwest taste or the chicken chili for those colder days!

Northstar Cafe I can't state it enough, it is a must to visit while in CBus for a spectacular breakfast! I will caution you though, to please come here early and beat the Saturday and Sunday breakfast crowd or just be prepared to wait in a long line that at times wraps around the building. Trust me it's well worth the wait! You can't go wrong with their everyday breakfast sandwich and their breakfast potatoes which are my Gluten Free go to favorites. My wife and sweet Niece would say their ricotta pancakes and biscuits and gravy are sweet, savory and the gravy spiciness pairs nicely with the sweet biscuits. Come hungry and you truly get what you pay for as it can be on the pricey side $$$. The portions, presentation and delicious dishes are truly worth every dollar you spend.

We ordered food today for our office and one this order we asked for no onions as one of our staff members is severely allergic. When she got her food, onion was on it and she of course had a medical episode that required attention. When we called to speak to the manager about what happened they did not seem to care that they almost could have killed someone. I got a review for you - DO BETTER!!! What if this was your parent, child, friend or whomever you cared about and make their food correctly so they do not die.

My husband and I were traveling through Columbus and I was looking for a healthy meal to go. I happened upon North Star and it looked like it had great options. We got the fish sandwich, which I REALLY appreciated that it wasn’t fried, and the veggie burger. I thought it was a little pricey until I picked it up. The portions are HUGE and the food was amazing. The girls at the curbside pickup today were super kind too. Glad we picked this place. Now open a North Star in Colorado so we can continue to enjoy it. :)

The full spectrum of execution of running this restuarant is poor. From how you place your order, to the seating arrangement, to the food. I went here for breakfast. After sitting at my table, having experienced the order process I was hoping the food would make up for it. Unfortunately that was not the case.

Good quality food at a casual spot. Not a big fan of the walk up counter service with them eventually finding where you choose to sit and delivering your food. Not a total turn off, but I'd much rather they commit to all counter service or to all wait staff service. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection of beers they offered. Not a huge selection, but instead a good mix that covered most bases. The fact that they allowed a taste before committing helped ensure your beer is just what you thought it would be. We enjoyed the outdoor seating since it was a very nice day. I'm not sure how the inside seating is. I can't rate their desserts because we chose to visit the over cream shop nearby instead. That ice cream shop was awesome, but again, it was a very nice day and they cycle through different flavors.

Staff is so friendly and the food is delicious. I'm pretty sure all the ingredients are locally sourced and organic. I know first hand that local farmers sell them organic produce! It's a tad expensive but the portions are good and it's worth it for the food quality.

Northstar Cafe is a tasty option. It is especially good when you have a group with different dietary needs and you don't want to sacrifice quality on any one front. I highly recommend their house made ginger ale that comes with lime and mint. I've never had anything like it elsewhere and it can taste a wee bit different depending on the day and location.

I have been a loyal customer at Northstar for years. The food is amazing and the customer service is usually great. I am disappointed with the way they handled my online orders lately. Last week half of my meal was missing, I did get a refund for it after I called which is good but I had to order more food again because I was working. Today I tried to order online but the site was having issues and was not processing any of my cards. After trying for about 30 minutes, the site said to contact them directly. I called the restaurant in hopes of getting help. I was not able to place an order over the phone because of their policy. The worker said that she was able to do it on her end and that she did not know why my order was not going through so there was nothing she could do. Not a good experience and wasted a lot of time.

  • 1/5 Christa I. 3 years ago on Google
The food is good, but their online ordering app is a nightmare. It defaults to an ASAP pick-up time but by the time you are checking out, it tells you that you have to go back and pick a later time. I had to go back multiple times to add more time to checkout. What started as a 30 minute pick-up time became an hour and a half. This is a common problem with the Northstar app and website. Come on, just get it right. Customer experience is suffering because of a technical issue that could easily be fixed. Just make ASAP be the next possible time and give people an option to do it at that time or not. Also, don’t try to call in the order... they don’t accept call in orders, just the failing app or website. The manager wouldn’t even move the time up after a call. If the online ordering didn’t do this to me the last 4 different times I tried to order, this would be a lot better.

I love their delicious fish sandwich. It’s delicious. Different locations have different menu. They don’t have wild rice on their menu. But simple salad is amazing too.

Love Northstar, always have. (PLEASE bring back the sweet basil burrito) I got carryout today and had the pimiento burger which was very good, a little greasy on the bottom bun but that's expected. I was disappointed in how the fries were done. While waiting, I saw wrapped up boxes sitting in the kitchen and I wondered what they were, and then when I got my order found that they were the fries in a small box wrapped in a bag. My fries were not crispy and we're quite cold so I just wonder how long they'd been sitting there. Nonetheless, they tasted great as usual. The service at this location is always so nice too!

  • 5/5 John O. 3 years ago on Google
As always, Northstar was outstanding. I don't eat much meat, but the cheeseburger here is my go-to when I'm craving beef. They just always get that Maillard reaction perfectly around the burger, and the toppings are top notch. They also really nailed the amount of mayo I like after I asked for very little. Definitely a nice little touch. Highly recommend the simple salad as a side, also. I'll never stop missing the square meal, but Northstar is as good as ever.

Simply the best! Better than all the rest 😄 but seriously for quality organic and consistent tasty healthy good and service this place is hard to beat. My wife and I are vegetarians and this is our #1 go to spot and are never let down. Must try! Favorites are the north star burger, dark chocolate truffle cookie, fresh OJ and the carrot cake in a jar. Brunch menu is amazing as well!

Just had a bad experience at one of my favorite restaurants. I came in placed my order (a salad and a cookie), was assured it would only take a few minutes. Nearly half an hour later, no one has approached me or given any update so I ask them for an update. They pick up my food and say it’s been waiting here for me, when I was waiting there. This isn’t the first time I’ve had poor customer service at this location. The food is always good if you can make it past the lazy and unprofessional staff.

I’ve been a customer of northstar for years...the clintonville location leaves a lot to be desired since COVID hit. They are very disorganized for pickup orders and are consistently very late. I was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes, it ended up taking an hour. I understand all their food is prepared when you order but other restaurants have figured out how to do that in a timely fashion.

  • 5/5 Trina C. 3 years ago on Google

  • 1/5 Tom S. 3 years ago on Google
Traditionally love Northstar food and understand the learning pains of pick-up during COVID (of which orders are fairly consistently late). However, it appears that new online ordering system now automatically adds a 20% tip (which can not be adjusted). I tip generously, especially for service workers during COVID, but there's something wrong with a mandated tip (especially @ 20% of Northstar's already premium-priced food).

We haven’t ate at Northstar in over a year. Pick up was easy and the employees were friendly. However, the food wasn’t very good at all. The classic cheeseburger, a favorite of ours in the past, was way too over done (burnt on the outside), dry and very salty.

Really excellent veggie burger, stopped in here in 2018 while in town for a wedding (a little late on the review), but it was so good, I decided to come back & write this. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area & looking for a good bite!

I was just here yesterday and the pizza I ordered was very overcooked. I get that it's oven fired, but it was completely black on the bottom. The edge crust was burnt as well, and oddly the cheese was extremely soupy like in the middle. I was not impressed.
