Great public venue. Lots of different events happen here. Concerts, food trucks, exercise classes, and so much more. Do you need a break from the kids? Grab a chair or blanket, a bouncy ball and sit on the lawn while the kids run around until they are tired. Its a huge open lawn so you will be able to see them at all times unless there is an even happening at the time. Or pack a lunch, grab a friend, and have a peaceful picnic. Get creative fellas 😂. There is a huge stage area on the north side of the lawn. The commons is located in the middle of downtown area so there are plenty of restaurants around in walking distance. Parking garage across the street averages about $10. Beautiful space.

Featuring a large lawn in the center of downtown Columbus, the Columbus Commons serves as a venue for large concerts as well as providing a place for casual recreation on nice days. This park allows leashed pets as long as they are picked up after. With a parking garage right across the street, cheap parking is available while you spend your time here. Many restaurants are within a short walking distance of here. There is also a Lime Scooter rental hub at the south end of the park by the carousel. Tip: bring food to eat here as a picnic!

We came here on a Fri night and took some pictures/videos. This was when it was dead and not many people around. I wished they had food open to help draw in more people. We came back on Saturday night and it was packed. It was like the whole city came out. There was free hot chocolate, food, and small shops. Also, they turned on more lights, Santa Claus was there to take pictures with, and the carousel was on.

The commons is a nice area to visit. It's great for small events with friends, or to visit for lunch, when the food trucks are there.

A small but great downtown park with a big lawn in Columbus. Outside concerts and light shows are sometimes held here. There is also a big and pretty Christmas tree during Christmas time.

Family-friendly concerts on the lawn. Picnic with the Pops: bring your own blankets, lawn chairs, drinks, and food. We try to visit every year and it’s always uplifting to see a city supporting the arts.

Nice open area for events. Was there for a local half marathon. Easy access of area hotels and a short walk to State capitol area.

There for a concert of a local organiation (Harmony Project). I thought it was my first time at the venue, but then I remembered I had been there at the end of some running event years ago. It was a great venue, at least in the perfect 70 degree cloudless sky weather, for a concert. Set up a couple of chairs and enjoyed a pizza we brought with us. Per the organizers, it was the largest crowd ever in the Commons. Whether that was accurate or not, it still felt like there was enough space. Easy to find. Parking in the garage across the street was easy to find and $10 for the event; but a bit congested leaving, as there are only one staircase and two elevators at the double door entrance to the garage that is closest to the Commons. Definitely pay as you are entering or you will be caught in a long line later.

Beautiful place to visit during the holidays. There's a nice lighted arch in front of the large Christmas tree that serves as a huge selfie light. Great place to enjoy holiday lights with the family.

What a great development for the City of Columbus. Much better use that the City Center Mall was in it's final years.

Nice outdoor venue that welcomes all genres of entertainment. From speakers to musicians, Columbus Commons welcomes all to enjoy the performances and sceneries from downtown Columbus. Seating and tables are sometimes provided. Lawn chairs are welcomed contingent on the performance. Family friendly and our four -legged fur babies are welcome also. Food trucks may make stationed there occasionally. Great place to have a great time with cool people.

The Christmas lights here were AMAZING. It's so nice that in the heart of downtown, there is a wonderful free attraction where anyone can go to walk around and ooh and ahh with delight during the holiday season. It's the best use of that old City Center space, too: green open concert space during the summer, and colorful winter wonderland late in the year. Well maintained, too, for being a very heavily trafficked park. Good job, Columbus!

We've went to Concerts there and it's always been nice. We recently drove by the day after Thanksgiving on the way home from Conservatory to see the light display. It was a great time to do it! The streets were quiet and peaceful. Due to everyone still being at home for holiday, and I was able to just pull up in front on the street that evening for a few minutes with my family to watch!

Colombus is a wonderful city. very clean. beautiful green spaces with plenty of river walk area. lots of parking both on street and garages. we found a free parking near the Vet museum. lots of rental scooters around the area. limited public bathrooms though, but they area constructing a common space for summer 2024. not many benches, but plenty of concrete spaces to sit. its a wide open space, no trees so you need to take cover under the bridges to escape the sun

Wonderful park in the middle of the city. Great open space. It has access to an underground parking garage, though I have never used it, so I'm not sure how it works. The Christmas lights each year are beautiful. And when covid wasn't a thing they had a fun light game that you could play at dark.

Nice green space in the middle of urban Columbus. They put up lights for Christmas that I went to see. Nice little display. They also have this fun game you can play on the easy side of the commons. And on the south side of the commons they have a bunch of chairs to sit in and relax.

Excellent venue in the middle of the city. Live band there tonight and plenty of locals enjoying the great weather in a deck chair on the grass. Every city should have space like this

What a great park in the middle of downtown Columbus. Lots of green space to enjoy a nice picnic or take a walk. There is a lot to do on the summer as well as enjoy the Christmas lights in the winter. Parking can be found throughout downtown.

I love bringing my 5 year old daughter down here during the weekday. Everything from free concerts to just open space for her to run and play makes this a prefect spot for relaxing in the evening. When the Jeni's is open she loves to stop by and get a scoop of ice cream too and ride the free carousel..

Fantastic light display. Really makes you feel like your in winter wonderland. The saqs player there mixed with the Christmas music on the speakers really sets the mood for you and your lady. Or just out and about with the family. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO'S GOT THE TIME

Every year the lights at the Commons become more and more elaborate. Love that there is parking all around the Commons and that this location can be enjoyed free of charge. While there are many events that happen here the holiday lights are really a treat! Worth a stroll when downtown. There is parking at meters as well as at an underground garage.

Nothing better than a free event and fun in the park with friends. Great people watching great time thank you Shadow Box! Great way to give back to people and a little taste of something different. The food truck event part was weak. Had to go to the Goat to eat. Which was delicious. But it was labeled food truck music event.

I loved this park when it opened. But it gets too crowded, and I hate the apartments that they built along High street. It was way better when it was fully open

Had a great time here at the Shadowbox Live free show! Jeni's Ice Cream stand was open(tasty as usual!), as was a Mexican place(delicious!). There was a beer tent($$$) and plenty of open grassy area for lawn chairs and blankets. Seemed like everyone was having a good time. Great people watching! Was worried about parking but there is a garage right there. Easy in & out.

Ben Folds. Columbus symphony. Amazing concert. Amazing staff. Not even a little bit of rain ruined it. If you're on the lawn try to sit more towards the middle if you can. The lights from the restroom banks can be distracting.

I just want to give a huge shoutout to the team that takes care of the landscaping at the park. I walk through the commons daily to get to and from work and I am always amazed at how well kept everything is. It blows my mind the constant work that needs to go into to and I just wanted to let you know that it doesn't go unnoticed!

  • 5/5 Ryan J. 3 years ago on Google
For those looking for a place to see a nice variety of Christmas lights without the crowding of the zoo won't be disappointed with the display at the Commons. It doesn't take long to see the lights and there is plenty to do downtown...when not in quarantine that is. My family and I were happy we went.

The holiday lights this year are so amazing!! Go check them out while they last. They turned part of the lights off right around 10pm, probably due to the curfew. I have always enjoyed this place - just a nice and quiet downtown area perfect for walks and people walk their puppies there a lot. You can see a lot of things going on there while still being able to keep a safe distance from others.
