A small escape in the middle of woods and near by city of Columbus. An opportunity to see some wildlife near a city.

I ride my bicycle to get a workout there. The view of the river and the scenery are calming, and beautiful. The wildlife is an added bonus.....very safe environment for all age groups. Family friendly, and is patrolled regularly.

Was a nice place to park and sit along the river, watch the ducks or fish along the rivers edge. A very obvious police presence, not intrusive, just visible enough to know if something happens, help is near by. I enjoy riding my motorcycle here, its a nice picnic spot also

Beautiful drive and walking along this 3.5 to 4 mile stretch by the Scioto river. You can lose a lot of time being here. Many port-a-port-a-potties here. Nice shelterhouse and minimum playground equipment. Many picnic tables here. You will see many people fishing here. There is a stone made stage with a grassy amphitheater.

I spent some time at the part of Griggs Reservoir Park from the dam along the trail south near the disc golf course. Nice views of the river but really not a section of the park for walking. The walking path/road isn't in good condition.

During my childhood and teenage years [mostly during the 1950s and the 1960s], my parents, my sister, and I would periodically visit the Griggs Reservoir Park at 2933 Riverside Dr., near the Scioto River and across the street from Upper Arlington. My parents would bring food and drink and a tablecloth and other items so that the four of us would be able to have a picnic while sitting at one of the concrete picnic tables at that park, which is 1½ miles from our first house and ½ mile from our second house. Usually, the two children who had attended each picnic would play at that park for a while before we all returned home. On 11-11-2023, after an absence of many years, my sister and I briefly visited the Griggs Reservoir Park so that I would be able to take a few photographs. Those concrete picnic tables -- that I am certain are the exact same concrete picnic tables that I remember from many years ago -- are still there.

Great place for a walk along the river. Plenty of picnic tables and or nice patches of green grass for a blanket.

Nice little oasis for a quick walk or to work from if the weather is nice. Lots of wildlife and beautiful places to walk or rest. Bathrooms: there was no regular bathroom available when I went, I had to use a (very clean) port-a-pot, but not a problem.

Nice park with a good view of the reservoir but limited walking trails. The park feels oriented to being mainly for boat access to the river. On the south side there is a connection to a disc golf course which is in a large field and is easier to walk on. The handful of covered picnic areas looked well kept.

I stop here at night to think about life.. or before work to start my morning right. it's very quiet and the lights reflecting on the water is relaxing to look at when it's dark. Sometimes iI get stressed out and this is a go to place set right on the river. Also if you enjoy walking, jogging or stretching, this is a great spot.

Nice place to walk, ride, or jog along the river. Shaded most of the way. About 4.5 miles round trip end-to-end. Lots of activity on the water to watch.

This is a very nice park. It is a great place to go to watch the water or to go for a nice walk on a summer day. I've been here a few times in the summer and a few times in the winter and it is a really pretty park especially for its location in Columbus. You don't have to go to far for this park and that's why it's great.

Recently went to the park to look for buckeyes. I've been here a hundred times or more. The trees are beautiful right now. The paths were nice for walking. Cars were too fast for so many pedestrians and the signs still aren't marked very clearly for parking and entry/exit. I've always loved the concrete picnic benches. But people are absolute pigs leaving cigarette butts and trash with trash cans close to the tables. Overall, you can't beat the trees this time of year by the river. There are a few porta pottys.

Quiet place to picnic under a roof and watch the row teams. I went late and nice sunset. There were many row teams out. You can drive to lower dam area to fish with a license. Stop light to get you on main route safely.

Relatively simple rundown park for boating. It works for what it is, but feels like it needs a bit of work to be a really nice place to go

My brother had a wedding anniversary here on 8/13/22. It was a very nice place with some great scenery. To top of off, the gentleman who was the care taker of the place was great to have around. I forgot his name but he was tall and had a wrap on his right leg. Very professional and took good care of us. Overalls a great person for this place. Rent it out, ya won't be disappointed.

Love this park. People mind their business and its great for riding your bike down the trail and I also like to ride my longboard down this trail as well because it's flat ground and it's a peaceful park. Love it to take my dog on a walk here as well.

Great park for riding a bike and walking. There's also a disc golf course located here. One issue that needs fixed is the asphalt path they have. In some areas it is in dire need of repair.

One of my go to places when I need a mental health break! Paved road running north/south beside the scioto river makes for a nice slow cruise with shade covered places to stop and investigate or picnic. Stone stairway leads to base of dam and unpaved, primative woodland paths that follow the river and many spots for fishing or just taking a break (wear appropriate footwear). Restrooms are often locked though, especially off-season.

Went for some paddle boarding in the no wake zone only. Cloudy and cool evening so not much water traffic. Nice wide river. Enjoyed watching OSU skullers practice. Very busy on sunny warm weekends. Not fun for paddle board then.

A refreshing local getaway. The sight and sound of the waterfall of the reservoir is tranquil and inspiring.

  • 5/5 J L. 3 years ago on Google
There are plenty of good trails to hike along, though most of them are not "official"--just paths cut through undergrowth near the river by many visitors. There are great views of the river, with lots of wildlife, especially birds. In the fall, the colors on the trees here are fantastic. More than enough parking, unless you visit on a nice weekend in the fall. Also in the fall, on weekends, some of the local high schools have crew races, and that can congest the area.

Great place to fish and walk, real community feeling here. Safe and welcoming. Only porta-potties if you need to use the restroom and there are multiple picnic areas. You can drive all the way through from the south to the north end but a lot of people walk so be careful if you do and drive slowly. Also there is a ton of wildlife here. Please be mindful and don't move the snails, or any wildlife out of their natural habitat. You can usually watch the rowing teams in the morning which is really cool too. Enjoy your time here!

Nice to walk along the river and see the Griggs dam. The river banks across the way look taller than expected for Columbus. Areas by the disc golf course are also very scenic. Start by the Fishinger road bridge, walk to the disc golf lot and back and you have a decent length walk.
