Went here for the first time as part of my newly developing hobby of day hikes on Saturdays, this time to break in the new hiking boots. Started with the combined Wetland Trails Loops (Teal Trail, Harrier Loop, & Rail Way) that total 3 miles of grass-based paths. Very peaceful and has a wonderful view of the lake that is on that section of property. Then crossed over to the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park Nature Center to use that as a base of operations to do an out and back hike of 6 miles total on the Darby Creek Greenway Trail, a gravel-based path that winds through fields and along Darby Creek Rd, leading to the old Darby Dan training barn and former thoroughbred racing track. It’s all exposed hiking (aka: bring the sunscreen!) Finalized the time there with the small half mile, gravel and then dirt-based Riffle Trail out from the Nature Center that leads down to spots to be alongside Darby Creek. Very peaceful as well. The park offers plenty of other trail options throughout a fairly wide area that I wish to return and explore. A nice location for hiking overall from my experience.

If you haven't visited this park, you are truly missing out! Gorgeous scenary, nice nature center. And of course Bison! And baby bisons! Clean and very easy to navigate. There is more than meets the eye and you will want to go again and again.

Great time! I'd recommend entering one of the Southern parking areas first to hike by the water and then doing a short drive to the bison area which is at the northern part of the park. There was plenty of wildlife that I saw... Including a furry convention!

I've been going to this park for years. It has lots of great hiking trails and shady picnic areas, decent restroom facilities, good play equipment for kids, a great nature center, and viewing of bison! It also has canoe access to Darby Creek, also a large sledding hill in the winter. Battelle-Darby Creek Park Is a wonderful park with much to see and do!

Enjoyed the nature center and a hike. Very nice park for a metro park more like a state park. Missed seeing the Buffalo.

Beautiful park! Good amenities such as restrooms, shelters, bbq pits/grills and volleyball courts. Very impressed by cleanliness of park area and river. Recommend water shoes if your swimming. Super rocky!!

My daughter and I took the 5 mile round trip backpacking hike. Early spring but still a few wild flowers coming up and blooming.

Beautiful park with multiple play areas for children and adults. There are multiple hiking and biking trails with gorgeous views. Not far at all from the greater Columbus metropolitan area.

Huge and absolutely phenomenal Metro Park with all types of walking, cycling, and hiking trails perfect for the beginner or advanced. Lovely nature center, and the highlight for us is coming to see the bison. Check the map to see where restroom locations are as well as which trails are dog friendly. Some water fountains on site.

This park is spectacular, there's so much to do here. There's a volleyball court a big wide space were you can play football, soccer, freesby, a basketball court and two areas were the kids can play. The trails are awesome, one trail takes you to the nature center were you can see the Bison run free in their habitat. It's a must to visit this park.

If you want to see the Bison, stop in at the nature center. They have cameras and will locate where the herd is at and let you know how to find them. The nature center is extremely nice, they have definitely spent more resources on this metro park than any other in Columbus.

Love going here to bird. Have seen several uncommon species of duck, Northern Harriers, Kestrels, swamp and tree sparrows, sand-hill cranes, and others. The trails are walkable and wide. Great park.

Really fun and beautiful park. The area is very well maintained. We ate lunch in a shaded area and took a hike down by the creek.

My family loves this park. It is clean and well kept. The play areas are nice for a variety of ages, and the walking paths are also enjoyable. They have lots of gazebos and green space for people to hold events. My daughter did get a tick here, but it's in the middle of the woods so I don't think there's anything that would help that. We recommend this park to many people!

This place is well kept. Most of the shelter are surrounded by mature trees which helps you feel cooler on hot days. My kids took school field trips here & we all love it.

A beautiful park with a variety of trails, play grounds and even some Bison.

A great place to get in a long run that isn’t on hard surfaces. One note of caution: the longest trail (a 9 mile lollipop trail) does not have a lot of shade. Wear sunscreen and consider staging water for yourself at one of the accessible parking areas along the route.

All of Battelle parks are great. Wild life along the trails and don't forget the fishing.

Great park for exploring nature & finding local wildlife. The Cedar Ridge playgrounds were replaced with new equipment last year in 2022, which is nice for the kids. Lots of great trails (although most of them are not paved) and different habitats. Darby Creek is a beautiful park in every season.
