The Columbus Museum of Arts welcomes all its visitors to time warp to and from eras that have helped shaped the world. The CMA collection is nostalgically beautiful and pays homage to artists, sculptures, photographs, and painters from then and now. The structure itself is a time capsule of familiar architecture with modern and welcoming ambience. Nearby parking and for a fee (sometimes). Also nearby parking lots/spaces near the museum. Handicapped accessible with elevators. Outdoor patio, a small restaurant, and a nice gift shop are offered by the museum. Nice and friendly staff. Some exhibits require an entry fee.

I went here with a friend using the library culture pass, which does cover parking, so that's pretty awesome. I would say while we spent about 1.5 hours there it's not very full. I expected to spend a day there, but there are not enough open exhibits to do that. Also, the other part of the art museum is only open on weekends. I was pretty disappointed compared to other art musumes. This being said, the gift shop contained some pretty cool and weird stuff. Definitely check it out. Thanks for reading. This is our first venture here with kids, and I must say the Columbus Museum of Art is 100% wonderful. Everyone we have talked to has been super friendly and helpful. The artwork is inspiring and I was blown away to see works by Picasso and Monet. There are plenty of interactive items for kids. Admission is $18.00 for adults $9.00 for kids(4 and up)/seniors/students Free for little ones Parking is an additional $5.00, and a gift shop or cafe purchase will validate. They also have a partnership with other museums around the country, so a membership at another museum may cover the admission! We have an Ohio History Connection membership and they are partnered! In conclusion, I absolutely recommend coming here and coming back!!!

My favorite out of all the art museums I've been to, and for comparison sake, I've been to Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. It's small, so it's very doable in just a few hours, is somewhat interactive, a wide temporal and stylistic selection, and easily the best giftshop I've ever had the pleasure of perusing. Lots of seats, all around. I haven't had the museum food though.

I went and really enjoyed the modern art as well as all the fascinating interactive stations across the museum. I would highly recommend going and checking this out. You do need to pay to enter but it isn't that much and it is free to get in on Sundays. Overall I would recommend looking around for little details because I found little Lego Among us characters hidden across the museum which is hilarious. Though I only found four I would assume that there are a few more that I had not come across. These really got the attention of the kids and helped keep them occupied as we explored. I really had a great experience and would strongly recommend for families as well as friends to go and explore the fascinating collection of pieces. And I hope to come again really soon.

I’ve never been to such an interactive museum before. They have so many things to encourage you to display your own art and creations, or just to write your own experiences. Museum is beautifully laid out with several exhibits, a small cafe and lots to do! This was included on our Columbus city pass

We had a tour for our students and it was great! The docent was amazing and shared some of her favorite pieces with us. They have some really great exhibits and pieces. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed our time here. The glass blown art was a favorite!

I have to admit the best exhibit was Contemporary & nature. My husband and I completed a puzzle for an hour which was really fun! It was relaxing and beautiful. They are also a herman miller distributor, which is cool! I wish for the price there were some events or more interaction.

We live in the Cincinnati area but just love the Columbus area for its zoo and decided to check out the museums and area. We happen to be here on a Sunday so the museum is free (7$ parking but if you spend 7$ in store or Dining then parking is free) The museum is great, well organized and quite beautiful. If you are going and not seeing any special exhibits then you just need a few hours. If you want to see the special exhibits, I believe they were 10$ each. My husband loves to read everything so I check out the pieces I love the most with him and wander and this time I sat and wrote some notes in a lovely courtyard in the middle of the art museum.

We went on a Sunday morning to see the Lego display. We also enjoyed the many small displays in the area. The art exhibits are well organized and and, while it was busy, it was not loud or crowded.

The Columbus Museum of Art is a vibrant and captivating cultural institution located in the heart of Columbus, Ohio. As an art enthusiast, I had the pleasure of visiting this museum recently and was thoroughly impressed by the diverse range of artwork on display. One of the standout features of the Columbus Museum of Art is its exceptional collection of American and European art. From traditional paintings to modern installations, there is something to cater to every artistic taste. The museum's curatorial team has curated the exhibits in such a way that each artwork tells a unique story and provides insight into different artistic movements and periods. Another aspect that sets this museum apart is its innovative and engaging programs. The museum hosts regular workshops, tours, and interactive exhibits that allow visitors of all ages to fully immerse themselves in the world of art. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or a novice looking to learn more, there is something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate. Furthermore, the museum's facilities are top-notch. The layout is easy to navigate, and the lighting and display of the artwork are thoughtfully designed. The museum also has a cafe on-site, providing visitors with a convenient place to relax and reflect. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Columbus Museum of Art. With its diverse collection, engaging programs, and welcoming atmosphere, it offers an enriching experience for art lovers and curious minds alike. Prepare to be inspired and amazed by the sheer beauty and talent showcased within its walls.

What an awesome place to spend a few hours in Columbus!!!! My friends and I were thrilled to visit the Columbus Museum of Art during our short visit there. The museum is lovely. I was most taken by our fabulous docent, Miss Carole Dale. She was by far the best thing at the museum!!! Her smile, spirit, energy, indomitable knowledge, and willingness to share information about the art and artists amazed me! I even purchased her book, This Life and the Fireworks, from the gift shop after our tour. I was disappointed she had gone for the evening because I would have loved to have had her sign my copy. She first took us to see the painting by the featured artist, Edward Hopper, of his wife pensively gazing from her bedroom window. Next we saw a Picaso, a rare one where Pablo actually wrote words on the painting, and finally in a gallery featuring a fabulous glass work by Dale Chihuly, where Miss Dale gave an awesome explanation of when and how the piece was assembled there at the museum. It was a memorable day, a great experience had by all! If you've never been, you must go and see the wonderful art there waiting for you to behold. The entrances were handicapped accessible, there were elevators, restrooms, and there was parking, museum maps as well.

I love this museum! It is free admission on Sunday which is great for the whole family. My kids love it. They have interactive exhibits. We felt very safe even through the pandemic.

The collection on display here is phenomenal, my only complaint is that it seemed to be a pretty small displayed collection. We covered the museum in a little under two hours and I found myself wanting more. We did take advantage of the free Sunday promotion, so I feel bad for complaining. The building was stunning, and the galleries were well thought out, I loved the displays of Queer art and I was thrilled to see some Monet paintings I never thought I'd see in person. I'd stop by again to see what they rotated in and out but I just wish there were more pieces on display.

The Columbus Museum of Art is a true treasure in the heart of Ohio's capital city. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a beautiful space filled with breathtaking works of art from around the world. The museum's collections span across a variety of mediums, from paintings and sculptures to photography and contemporary installations, showcasing the diversity and richness of the artistic world. One of the standout features of the museum is its impressive collection of American art, which includes works by some of the country's most celebrated artists such as Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Winslow Homer. The museum also has an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, featuring works by artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, as well as thought-provoking installations that challenge the viewer's perception of art. The museum is also very welcoming to visitors of all ages, offering educational programs and activities that make art accessible and engaging for everyone. From hands-on art projects to guided tours, there's something for everyone to enjoy. In addition to the amazing art collections, the museum's location in the vibrant Short North Arts District makes it a great destination for anyone looking to explore Columbus' thriving arts scene. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and galleries nearby, making it easy to turn your museum visit into a full day of exploring and discovery. Overall, the Columbus Museum of Art is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty and power of art. It's a true gem in the heart of Ohio, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

We are from out of town and my daughter wanted to see the Art After Stonewall exhibit. Very powerful. Loved all of the other exhibits as well. The museum is very clean and everyone had masks on. Definitely glad this was a stop on our trip.

    • If you are into art, history, paintings, or museums over all, this place will not disappoint you. • The original building has an early modern architecture but and expansion building has been built around in which is actually pretty cool. • Their collection includes contemporary (or sometimes even older) art works from paintings, statues, glass works and even quilts (this one might have been a temporary gallery I don't remember). • The staff are nice and you can ask your questions. • If you are interested I would say it will probably take 3-4 hours to visit this place.

Went on a Sunday and was suprised to see the entry was free on Sundays. Great start. There is a nice interactive exhibit for kids to play with while also being interspersed with art that parents can enjoy while watching their kids. Upstairs I had a great time walking through the paintings and picking out a few favorites. The only thing this museum suffers from is its size. At a slow pace you can get through everything in 3 hours. The gift shop here has an excellent selection of items I haven't seen anywhere else.

Pollock, Hopper, Picasso - in Columbus, you say?! It is a great collection for a city this size. Even better are the free Sundays. You can validate your parking for free by spending in the gift shop. We'll worth visiting.

Very nice museum. Two floors of art. Not crowded. The museum is laid out in an easy to follow floor plan. Plenty of parking. If you spend $7 or more in the cafe or museum shop, your parking ticket is comped. Definitely worth a visit.

HANDS DOWN the best place to get married/host reception in Columbus Ohio. I have been a Columbus wedding photographer for over 10 years. When I say that the Columbus Museum of Art does it right, just believe me! They always give a 10/10 experience. Alyx and the CMA team are absolutely phenomenal! Not only do they have the best staff, the spaces inside and even outside of the Museum are just breath-taking! Derby Court is my favorite space in the whole city to host a ceremony or reception! If you are considering getting married here, just do it! You will not regret it! Cheers! -Ben (Storyteller Adams-Columbus Wedding Photographer)

I went on Sunday when the entrance is free. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to go through the museum. I was surprised to see how old some of the art that was on display was. I will definitely be going back. There were interactive displays all iver where you could get involved and leave postits that answered a prompt or draw on materials that were provided. This was great because it kept my son engaged while I was taking notes for a school project. Tip: Save $7 on parking by parking in the free lot across the street. I don't know about weekdays, but on the weekends you can park there.

Absolutely one of my favorite places to see in my city. The collection of work on display currently is astonishing! There is something to see for everyone. I appreciate that they spotlight black created art as well. The gift shop is wonderful as well, I enjoy purchasing different pins each time I visit.

I love all the creative ways the Columbus Museum of art engages patrons with opportunities to create our own bits of art after being inspired by what we see. Right now there is a cat exhibit and you have multiple opportunities to tell other patrons about your cat. The post-covid exhibit with photos taken of families during Covid on their porches was interesting though I felt that it might have been a little too cheerful for what the experience of isolation was really like. We survived a PANDEMIC but you wouldn't even know it was that bad from the smiling faces in all the photos. But then again, perhaps the goal of art is to make you think and in that regard, the exhibit did what it was supposed to do. We ate at the cafe after... was good but pricey so probably wouldn't eat there again...

It is a wonderful art museum for a casual walk. There are a variety of paintings and artwork. There is a large room for kids to get interested with art and science. Also, it is glad to see some events where people dress up. For Buckeyes, the tickets are free!

It's a nice museum. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to go through. There was a crowd waiting for the doors to open so this is a popular spot. Once everyone got inside and went their own ways, it wasn't too crowded. The art was nice and the galleries were easy to navigate. There were spots throughout to stop and think about the art. Some had sticky notes to write messages about the prompts.

Very nice art museum. Has a lot of well known artists' work. Enjoyed an early visit on a Sunday when admission is free. As we were leaving, lots of families with young kids were arriving, which is great, love to see kids react to art. Juat glad we were there at a less busy time.

  • 5/5 Angela F. 11 months ago on Google
A must do! My family of four (45,42,11,17)enjoyed every bit. There were very unique pieces, we enjoyed the open art studio on the first floor and the "join the conversation" stations where you were able to write what you thought about certain pieces and see what others who have visited thought too. We stayed there probably over an hr. Also, a plus, I received half off my ticket for being an educator.

For any osu students, I highly recommend checking out dtix to get admission for free. Such a fun and easy place to visit with your friends. The exhibits are absolutely breathtaking and are so much fun to explore! I highly recommend visiting with an open mind and giving yourself ample time to peruse around the amazing different areas! I definitely think this is a place you visit once and check it off the list, but definitely think everyone should experience it once.

Diverse collection, traditional and modern, various culture backgrounds, for a small-medium sized art museum. Well designed and constructed architecture layout. The hallway ceiling deco is a little out of style, mis-matched with the building.

Love this place! I’m not sure if it’s worth the cost of admission with a big family but definitely for 2 adults and one kiddo it would be worth it. We went on Sunday when it’s free and my son loved this place! He is 8 years old and really loves art. The first floor has so much for kids to do, we spent 3 hours here. Also if you pack a lunch, they have nice picnic areas outside.

This wasn't as big as I was hoping it would be, it took maybe an hour tops to see the whole museum. However, there are some great pieces here and it is worth a stop if you are in the area. I had recently went to the Toledo Museum of Art and was absolutely blown away by it. This however was not up to the same level as the other museum despite this being a bigger city. So while this might not be bucket list worthy, it is still worth a detour.

Visited this museum while on a trip to Columbus to spend time with friends. It was a great museum date! The cafe is surprisingly good, the collection was incredibly varied and diverse, and there were a lot of chances for interaction with the art. They had a gorgeous Día de Muertos display downstairs during our visit that included an ofrenda for guests to add their photos, candles, prayers and messages. Regular price for entry per person was $18 but we bought the passes for access to the additional galleries so we paid $26 each. I highly recommend it for groups of adults. May not be worth it for younger folks.

This was our first visit to the museum. If you go be prepared to walk!! Its HUGE!! Definitely something for everyone. My 3 yr old niece enjoyed the hands on experiences they had around the buildings. She loved the big blue man which was made of canvas and blown up using a fan. It was really cool. Be prepared for an exciting experience and be prepared to be tired! Wear your walking shoes and dont feel bad if you cant finish!! Like i said its HUUUUGE and definitely a 2 trip place.

We really enjoyed the free weekend passes. The museum is set up very nicely for social distancing. There are great interactive information opportunities (scanning QR codes, calling the listed number) One of our favorite parts of the visit was the friendly, well-informed staff. Specifically Jim (shout out to Jim!!) shared great information about the history and context of pieces and their artists. It was so great to learn more! The special exhibit of Aminah's work was lovely as well.

Back in Columbus for a visit and it was capped off by a tour at the Museum of Art. In particular our visit to the Aminah Robinson Exhibition. WOW! Do not miss this exhibit if you can help it. Curated absolutely fabulously, and the work is more in depth than you can imagine from the genius of this woman. I was greatly surprised by the accessibility of the museum as a wheelchair user. Plenty of room to move between exhibits, view pieces, and engage with different installations. Multiple appropriate ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms as well. A "comfort room" is also available for patrons to use if they need to take a break in a quiet place. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful in answering any access or art questions. However, I noticed there was only one or two pieces that were on display for folks to touch. I would love to see more pieces that can be interacted with tactilely for folks who are blind/low vision.

👍👍 One of the most impressive museums dedicated to the Infantry and maneuver. Check out the poppy fields art exhibit; has a theater with IMAX, third in the state, restaurant is not yet reopened but it is nice. Amazing exhibits. Very proud to work for the military
