This review is for the Beach. Although I’ve heard great things for the State Park Itself regarding the campgrounds, I haven’t myself been but I can say it looks nice. What I can talk about is the beach, which me and my young daughter enjoyed on a hot summer day recently. My only gripe is the actual beach, the sand, it seemed more like hard dirt. The beach was also small, but google does say 800 feet. The booeys seemed not too far out, but as for in the water the water was pretty shallow, not too dirty and we enjoyed our stay. Initially it seemed to have a lot of visitors but when actually swimming that wasn’t the case at all. We were for the most part alone. If your looking for a nice beach near the Columbus area that isn’t Alum Creek Beach this is your ticket. My daughter wants to go back tomorrow. It’s free, don’t need a campsite. Check it out, you’ll be glad you did.

Enjoyed a nice 4 miler by starting at the Mink Run trail by the marina, and the doing the Briar Run trail and the Lakeview Loop getting hooked back up to the Mink Run trail back to our car. It was a nice walk, not major elevation but not flat either, some mud obstacles to pass around and some signs seemed to be missing but overall a very nice way to spend 2 hours. There are many activities at this park, fishing, kayaking, camping, boating. Well maintained and very clean (free of trash etc).

About the campgrounds: My family stayed here (at the campgrounds) for two nights and three days and we loved them. The layout of the sites are spacious and convenient; there are bathrooms/showers, a playground and dumpsters located close by to each set of campsites. The facilities are clean and pretty nice to use. I've included pictures of the campsite bathrooms. They even have balls that are free to use on the playground areas for free via the "honor system." The playground we stayed by (sites ~60-100) had swings, a small basketball court, a climbing area, swings, a place to play horseshoes and a place to play Cornhole. I also like that you could reach the hiking trails directly from the campsites. The trails are nice for walking or biking. A lot of nice scenic points and a place enjoy nature away from everything else. About the park/beach: The beach is only an 8 minute drive from the campgrounds. It has a really nice playground and a dog park. The bathrooms were just okay-- the stall doors in the womens restroom did not lock. They have a place where you can rinse off after being in the water. Lots of parking.

Located just 5 miles North of the City of Delaware is the Delaware State Park. It is a fairly large park on the West Shore of the beautiful Delaware Lake. The park is pet friendly and has a good size sand beach with a plenty of parking , well kept campgrounds, playgrounds, picnic facilities and numerous hiking trails. The disc golf course winds through the woods.

Camping the weekend was lots of fun. Lots of outdoor activities and some very good camping spots. But beware there are some bad ones as well, the spot next to ours was flooded and they still rented to someone. We saw several so beware if its rained over the past few days. I'm sure we will be back after this weekend the whole family had fun.

Very nice place to visit and explore. The loading docks were well maintained and made unloading easy. Very clean environment and the water was amazing. Next time plan on bringing my skies and fishing gear. Everyone I ran into was very polite and a pleasure to be around.

The entrance staff was supper helpful and friendly! I mean I have not had that awesome of service in a long time! The bathrooms were flush toilets and clean and bright. My spouse even took a shower. It was a safe environment. Drivers were cautious of the kids running around. Most of the pull in spots were taken on this rainy fall weekend. We used tents, but most people had plug in pull behind trailers... Which was great for tent campers because no generators kicking on and off all night long. The camp sights were well mowed and free of debris and previous campers ash fires! You could hear the trains and 23 in the distance.

Very nice campground with lots of activities and beautiful scenery. Loved the way each campsite had a touch of privacy or seclusion from the next one... The naturalist program was a hit with my girls.. Just a wonderful 4 days spent there!

One of my favorite places to camp! Clean facilities and spacious campsites. The flat roads make it very child friendly for biking.

Awesome park! Wonderful camp sites, nice beach, beautiful walking/hiking/biking trails, and friendly staff. I enjoy camping and Delaware is by far the best camping experience I've had in central Ohio!

The camping experience here is wonderful! You're not stacked on top of each other and it's very clean and quiet. My only real gripe is the terrible dog "beach" which is really just a bunch of weeds and big rocks. Not really safe for all dogs to enjoy. Otherwise, we definitely plan to visit again because it's very dog friendly!

It was the perfect spot to picnic with my grown kids. The park visible from 23 was over crowded. I went into the state park entrance and found a playground area abd not one person was there. It was quiet, peaceful and the raccoons were cooing in the trees. I know I already said perfect but I'll say it again...PERFECT!

We like taking our puppies different places with us whether we just go out on our boat or hiking. The beach at Delaware State Park is pretty nice they have a mix of fine, coarse, and rocky sand that does extend into the water but what really sold us was that they have a fenced in area that goes down and out into the water so our dogs were able to play together in and out of the water, use the bathroom, and even rest while we were able swim and walk along the beach together which was so nice. The bathrooms were also pretty close which can be a godsend if you are boating, have kids or puppies. There was some shade on parts of the lake which isn't always the case with all bodies of water. There were some little islands even some you could pull your boat up to. We also liked that Delaware State Park had an awesome boat ramp at Buckeye Grove making getting the boat in and out of the water all that much easier for us. We also liked that it wasn't that much further than Alum Creek just a little bit more north I guess. We are wanting to try camping here next it seems like a pretty nice place to go. A little hard to find with Google unless you are looking for it though.

There's a lot of things to like about this park, particularly if you're looking for someplace to be outside with the kids. There's a small beach, with a nearby fenced in dog Park, a Frisbee course that winds through the trees with views of the lake, a kiddie fishing pond, marina, boat launches, fishing spots, places to watch birds both water and field, and a number of campsites. So there's a lot to do there. However, if you're mainly interested in hiking, like me, it's quite limited, and if you're looking for that "getting away from the rest of the world feeling" this isn't the best. There's only one real walking trail, mink run trail. Fortunately it's a nice hike, though it can get crowded at peak times. Autumn hikes on early weekday mornings like I've had most recently are perfect though! There is another longish trail along the dam and dike at the southern end of the lake (separate entrance and parking lot) but the dam is currently blocked off and the walk itself down there is much less interesting (to me), as it runs through farm fields much of the way. There are some good bird watching areas, butt watch out for dog doo on that trail! It's also worth pointing out that there's a very nice, but very short wooded loop with an easy wide path at that entrance, which is great for really small kids or those with mobility issues.

Delaware State Park very nice and lot's of nice views and trails, lake looks nice could be good fishing below the dam. Driving through camp ground look OK but not very much privacy around camp site. Bath room at lake park looks great but open the door and it is just a out house looks and smells bad. It is worth going to for a get away.

I haven't been to this park in over 30 years. Beautiful, well maintained a real gem just up the road from Columbus. We were there fishing, my friend has a pontoon boat that was easy to launch. The marina doesn't open til 10a.m. so buy your bait before you get there. All In all, a very pleasant experience.

Wonderful Campgrounds. Sites are all generously spaced out and everything is kept clean. Bathrooms are clean, but Daddy Long legs love it in there. But, that is nature at its best. Beach was not overcrowded and the sand was nice and soft. Will definitely be back.

Really great park! Enjoy camping here. Most of the sites are great size and kept clean. Great lake for boating and just hanging out. Lots of wild life around, put trash and food away and that helps reduce visitors !

Easy access, boat dock, paddle board launch from dock, clean restrooms, friendly people. Lake is surrounded by woods, clean and the fish are jumping!

It's hard not to give this park a 5 because it holds a very dear place in my heart. I've been going there with my family for 20+ years and now I take my own kids every year. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 is because it lacks some amenities that other nice campgrounds have such as a jumping pillow, an indoor pool, and very nice playgrounds. If you're looking for a park for a simple and nice trip, this is your park. The campsites are pretty large compared to many that I've stayed at and there is a good amount of shade. It's very friendly to kids biking and we always set up a volleyball net in the large common area. The beach is about as good as it gets for a beach in central Ohio. The disc golf course is fantastic. As I said, the playgrounds are not the best and could use some updating (it's been a year since I've been there so it's possible that they've updated some things). The bathhouses are centrally located and are kept clean. We also enjoy getting ice cream at the camp store and playing some shuffle board. I never play shuffle board anywhere else, but I learned to play at Delaware St. Park as a kid and it's actually really fun. Overall Delaware St. Park is a great park to stay at. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Large area to explore. First tail we found was near the marina and was flooded. Saw many people playing frisbee golf on a snowy/windy day, must be a fun course. Beach area has a neat playground. Might have to come back in summer to try out the swimming.

Played disco golf there this morning and it was a great course some very challenging holes. Overall a good course. The Lake is very nice with a 800' Long Beach great camping area with paved spaces. This was one of the nicest Midwestern state park step I have seen.

**Far off the road you will hear little to no traffic. All 214 camp sites are located within 4 loops with all-inclusive bathhouses in the center of each circle (meaning each bathroom contains a toilet, shower, sink & bench). Each site is spacious and many are shaded. **Sites are ELECTRIC only (not sure if any have water or FHU but we've never seen or been offered any in our several stays). A water spigot is located in the back of each loop. So fill your fresh water tank before you arrive & use bathhouse too. **Close to Waldo, OH - famous for bologna sandwiches & a great sausage shop is just north of the park. Columbus, Marion, Richwood, Marysville, Delaware, and Prospect are nearby (we have relatives in all of them!) Playgrounds. Boat launch. Great beach. Reasonable nightly rates. Book in advance if you wish to stay Fri or Sat as they are booked on these nights most of the time. Weekdays are quiet. **Park employees clean the bathhouses daily and natural resource officers drive thru daily. You will feel safe. The long drive in & out of the park will reward you with frequent sightings of deer, squirrel and birds. **Booking the park via ReserveAmerica is just a headache (and their accuracy of what sites are booked are often wrong) so we try to arrive on a weekday as the office can reserve & check you in on ARRIVAL DAY only. No advance res at the office. Good luck & enjoy your stay!
