It was the Memorial Day weekend and when we were visiting the place, it was more than ‘overcrowded’. This is a cute lakeside with a beach vibe- great for summer time. People were having fun time with families and kids. You can spend the entire day, go in the water, play in the ground, have a picnic, or grill some meat. It’s an absolute fun place to enjoy the sun and outdoor. The water is nice. I would go back in a more usual weekend to avoid such crowd.

Went out with my family for some fun in the sun. The grounds were very well maintained with new sidewalks and nice docks. For being a busy holiday weekend we had a wonderful time. We had dinner at the marina where they had a band plying on the deck. It was a nice and convenient way to grab dinner after a long day on the water! Unfortunately I didn’t get any picture of the food, but we had burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, and pizza and everyone was happy with their food. Looking forward to our next trip there! We had a blast.

It was nice to go to this place on this hot day. Added to the water where you can swim is a playground for kids. There is a rest room area, shower area, and a handicap parking. You can sit anywhere and barbeque and play your music, celebrate birthday and much more. You can also read a boat I think about $800 a day(not too sure). The water temperature is cool when you get in, then it quickly becomes comfortable as you stay inside. Good outdoor please and beach for us with no ocean.

Wow... this place was so nice. Plenty of space to lay out, bring your grill. Nice family fun. There was an ice cream truck too. Clean, bathrooms are very well kept, people were courteous and respectful. Outdoor showers available. You can bring your own grill, and there are plenty of picic tables, and places to grill. We will definitely be here all summer.

The beach area is very nice. The area is well maintained and the beach itself is large enough that even when it's busy you can still find places that give you space. There are restrooms, sand volleyball, soccer field, playground and plenty of parking.

For Ohio I give this 5 stars, the lake is very nice with some nice views along the way. Very large dog park for walking, playing and swimming, nice large beach, very nice play ground at the bottom of the dam and a nice view on top of dam you can go for a very long walk all the way to the other side around 1 mile. This is a nice view and camp grounds many have good privacy around them. The bad many things need to be repaired and fixed up urinal flushing button broke off, toilet very loose and pulling away from the wall, many water supply area torn down or cracked and broken, bath room gutters broken and rotted wood in stead of waiting in till it all falls apart and cost the tax payer lots more money why are things not being fixed up. Just like the boat marina some said it could be fixed up but they bull dozed it all down to build all new and will take a few years. Just my thoughts.

Great park with beautiful scenery. Definitely a gem to find a “beach” in the middle of Ohio. The sand is nothing more than tiny bits of gravel but it still feels nice underfoot. This is a nice place to walk on a warm day. There are playgrounds and other activities all around too. Not my favorite park in Columbus but definitely up there!

My favorite place in the summer. Lot of walking space and maintained nicely most of the times. Weekends are little crowded. There are couple of sand courts for easy games and two small play areas for the little kids. Beach closes at sunset, so don't miss it.

Nice , clean area, was at quite a few spots around the lake looking for good fishing spots. My son and I Didn’t have much luck in that department but it was still an amazing day.

Awesome place to chill in Columbus. It’s hard to find somewhere like beach here, but the view and environment is amazing! Definitely need to come back in summer, it’s so cold out here rn lol

This is a man-made beach. It is a nice place to go. Plenty of space if you want to be out on the water for Most of the day. Also has plenty of camping and picnic grounds with picnic tables and grills. You can bring your own grill in the summer. It has open concession stands. Bathrooms are okay decent. They also have a small playground area for youth areas where you can play volleyball as well. Plenty! Man-made shoreline so you can walk. Also have areas where you can launch your boat and plenty space to be on your boat for the day. You can also rent boats as well.

Very fun day at the lake Beach. There were SO MANY PPL but we still found a nice little spot on the beach to enjoy the water and sun ... had a mini cookout in the parking lot on the available benches. Enjoyed some Kona ice from the truck. Played beach volleyball because they have a net set up and the kids played at the little playground. Nice play to enjoy a day off.

Alum Creek State Park is a 2,800-acre park located in Delaware County, Ohio. It is home to a 3,269-acre reservoir, a 3,000-foot sandy beach, a campground, hiking trails, and a boat launch. The park is a popular destination for swimming, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and picnicking. The beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is staffed with lifeguards. The reservoir is also a popular spot for fishing, with a variety of fish species available. The park has several hiking trails, ranging from easy to moderate in difficulty. The campground has over 300 campsites, including some with electric hookups. The water quality in Alum Creek Reservoir is not as good as it once was. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has downgraded the health status of the lake to marginal. This is due to sediment pollution, which can come from agricultural runoff, urban runoff, and erosion. Despite the water quality issues, Alum Creek State Park is still a popular destination for recreation. The park offers a variety of activities to enjoy, and it is a great place to spend a day outdoors. Here are some of the pros and cons of Alum Creek State Park: **Pros:** * Large reservoir with a sandy beach * Campground with over 300 campsites * Hiking trails of varying difficulty * Boat launch * Fishing * Picnic areas **Cons:** * Water quality is not as good as it once was * Can be crowded on weekends * Some trash and litter can be found Overall, Alum Creek State Park is a good place to go for a day of recreation. However, visitors should be aware of the water quality issues before they go. Here are some tips for visiting Alum Creek State Park: * Visit during the week to avoid the crowds. * Bring your own water and snacks, as there are limited food options on-site. * Be prepared for hot weather and mosquitoes. * Leave no trace by packing out all of your trash.

Easy access to the water, which is very warm this time of year. A couple of playgrounds seem open and I think only one set of bathrooms is open. Pretty forest surrounds the lake but people ride their boats super fast in there so not ideal or paddling. A decent amount of litter on the beach but that’s kind of par for the course for Ohio.

Nice large sandy beach with plenty of parking. The beach area offered a playground, picnic shelters, restroom and shower facilities. The grounds and building were very well maintained. What a great place to spend tome time unwinding on a sunny summer afternoon.

They had a beach where we could wallk our dog. We went on a Tuesday and we were the only ones there at the time. It was so fun. We let Gray of the leash, and she had a blast.

Super fun place to be! You can do a little bit of everything here. Boating, fishing, swimming, just tan, volleyball, cookout, etc. The place is always nice and clean. They have fully functional restrooms and foot bath spigots for foot cleansing. They also occasionally have food trucks or ice cream trucks to benefit from. Overall, it's a ton of fun and will always be recommended. The only unfortunate thing is this beach is a no pets allowed. I have no issue seeing pets there or not... I just wish the people who brought them would clean up after them.

Nice beach. Arrived on a warm fall day and we didn't have to contend with the busy summer crowds. Well maintained and park rangers were attending to the facilities and trash receptacles when we were there. A couple of playgrounds for kids to play on in addition to the beach. Lots of parking and a paved walking path also present.

  • 5/5 Carrie G. 3 years ago on Google
Best place to run/walk dog...beach, forest, fields so you get it all. We spotted a bald eagle in late summer! It is a perfect place to find peace in fall and winter when the crowds are gone. Re cleanliness: it 100% depends when you go. Monday mornings in summer there will be trash everywhere from the weekend. But the staff works extremely hard to keep it clean and most of the time it looks great.

We love going to the creek! The children have fun swimming and making sand castles(not a pro at it but it's still fun). We have picnics by the water or at the picnic tables. There is plenty of room to spread out and just relax with the people you love.

  • 5/5 Cindy L. 3 years ago on Google
Not the beach, but park. Campground was great, sites large. So much to do inside the park. Mini golf, disc golf, beautiful lake, large beach, campground beach, dog park and dog beach, mountain bike trails, model airplane fields, whatever you like to do it's here. We loaded up bikes and took short drive to Alum Creek Greenway Trail. 25 Mile with connectors with others. Very nice

Perfect view of the river, and some covered seating. Enjoy your morning coffee or stop by and have your packed lunch. GORGEOUS. Would love to have my wedding here someday. The view is gorgeous; the space is cozy, yet big enough for a decent sized party (ceremony and reception). I would mainly just worry about parking, but there are a couple of parking garages just up the street (walking distance).

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS PLACE. I'm from Lima, Ohio and was in Columbus house sitting/pet sitting and went to this place for just like an hour; water was too chilly for me to get in. Nice big beach area, bathrooms were in good shape and clean. I laid on beach and enjoyed watching the boats and other activists out on the water. And it was free. In Lima, our somewhat-like place costs. Would recommend if needing a stress reliever!!!

I’ve heard this used to be a cemetery which kinda freaked me out 🤣 but there’s sand before you get into the water of course there’s a little park with sand and the water but I think there crocs and alligators in this water but I don’t think they come close to shore

  • 5/5 Sunshine H. 8 months ago on Google
Something to do with the kids. I wished they put new sand for the kids. I know it’s a lot but it’s make the look better.

A large beach with lots of space. Both times we went it wasn't packed. The water is clear. The beach area was very clean and beautiful. But the bathrooms need a lot of work. Should have staff onsite for this at least on the weekends.

  • 4/5 Jenn W. 6 months ago on Google
Lots of poky stuff in the sand. But a great place to get some waster and sun. Restroom could use maintenance and upgrading. But better than outhouse I suppose. There was a guy on a dirt bike driving thru the water while ppl were swimming and splashing my stuff on the beach .
