I’ve been to Riverside 3 times in less than a year, each time to accompany a sick relative. Avoid this hospital at all costs, go to Ohio State. The staff seems not concerned with the patients whatsoever, you’re treated like a burdensome file and not a human being. If you speak up nurses get annoyed and you sense they take longer to attend to your loved ones. My aunt was admitted and for first 2 days not a single doctor spoke to her. It was just nurses telling her doctors would eventually come to look at the endless scans they take to pass time and make you feel like something is done. Every single person was adamant about taking pain killers, but never addressing the underlying issue. They just want to mask it and never heal you. My aunt passed away and it was totally preventable. They made a cut into her liver without first checking and knowing that she had issues with her blood clotting. Once they cut in the bleeding wouldn’t stop until she swelled up like a balloon and passed away. The nurses came in seeming somber and sorry and a minute later you can hear them cracking jokes behind the desk. You’re just a number to these people. Go to Ohio State. Do not go to Riverside.

Emergency Room... I was experiencing cold sweats since i awoke around 8:15am. i just felt something was amiss...even cashiering for half my shift didn't help me recover...clammy skin... Linda drove me to the ER. 1) I had to pass thru the metal detector; not good as i am trying to reach the ER desk! I waited while the guard gave me a receipt for my pocket knife and my scissors! BEST TO ARRIVE IN THE SQUAD 2) They remembered at the ER Desk. And, called me 2nd.... that was the first hour. 3) EKG by a very kind ER Nurse. I could tell she was of like-minded Faith. Then down a hall to have my blood drawn. Then, back to the Waiting Room to sit. Then, called in for a chest X-Ray. that was 90 min. 4) In the Waiting Room to have my results studied by a Doctor and his findings. Here now, at the ER for 2.37 hours. (I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Arash Arshi, my Cardiologist that i met on 05.03.2017. The Squad bypassed ER and took me (with a Widow Maker) directly to the Heart Cath Room.) Prayers for me that what Holy Spirit knows about this will have Truth revealed to my Cardiologist. And that "His Praise will be continually in my mouth" as I still work until the Day He takes me home! Keith Carey Psalm 34

On 6-17-22 my daughter was sent here after urgent care felt she needed to be checked for kidney stones along with her infection. She arrived at the emergency room at 3:00pm, had a 40 minute wait in line to check in, having to sit on the floor because of pain in her lower back from the kidney infection. That was the first sign she should have turned and walked out. They called her back for blood work and for a scan by 6. By 9 pm no one had called her back to even talk to her yet. My husband I came at 9 to bring her some food and water as well as to sit with her awhile. About 10:30 i could feel she was warmer and we called someone over to check her vitals. She was now at 101.5 temperature wise form 99. earlier in the day. And still waiting. No one has even spoken to her about anything yet. At midnight, I called OSU emergency room and they only had 6 people in the waiting room so we called it and decided to go over there. (took her another 2 hours to be seen but no one could tell us when we would have been seen at Riverside and something had to be done) When we went to check out, the girl at the desk at Riverside seemed quite pleased we had decided to leave and rushed to take the port in my daughters arm out, which she had been sitting there with since the late afternoon. Fastest I saw anyone move all night. I understand there may be more urgent cases coming in but still feel it is unacceptable for someone to wait 9 hours IN AN EMERGENCY ROOM to be seen. (The poor lady sitting next to us had been there since 12:30 that afternoon.) This was low hanging fruit folks! Take care of it and move some people on or tell us of the backlog so we can find somewhere less busy to take our business. Can not express my disappointment in my daughters care at this facility and will not be returning here should we need emergency care again.

I woke up with extreme swelling and pain in my lower half. Due to prior kidney problems, the Dr sent me straight to the ER. After running tests they told me there was nothing wrong and it was probably a bug bite or maybe even in my head and sent me home. Seriously? I've never had swollen ankles, not even during pregnancy. After several days the swelling increased significantly and hard, red, painful nodules popped up all over my body. A Nurse Practioner at Minute Clinic said it looked like a systemic infection and I needed IV antibiotics and steroids for the swelling. She sent me back to the ER and called ahead. I arrived at 2 and wasn't seen until 6. They apparently didn't listen to the Nurse Practionerat all. Instead they checked for blood clots. The nurses were great. The doctor was terrible. He came unto my room and told me off. He said I was misusing the ER and that it is intended for emergencies. I didn't have any emergency so I could leave. I came because I was told to come. No antibiotics and no treatment for the swelling. I can hardly wait to see how many thousands this non-care will cost me. It's a shame, because this used to be such a good hospital. Now, the doctors don't care about their patients at all.

Was actually looking up reviews for other hospitals for my honeymoon in Italy and wanted to compare to Riverside. I was shocked Riverside only had 3 stars. I don't write many reviews but felt compelled to. I've been here on several occasions - most recently for an emergency appendectomy several years ago. Myself, as well as everyone I know, has always had a fantastic experience at this hospital. I was inpatient for two nights and while the food wasn't from a five star restaurant (obviously... its a hospital), the care I received was wonderful. I would never want to go anywhere else. Excellent and very efficient hospital, as well.

Went to ER for asthma attack today. Took nearly two hours after check in for somebody to listen to my lungs. When a PA who identified herself as part of triage finally did so she stated she could not put in any orders for steroids or breathing treatment. It would be several hours before I could see er doctor. I left on my own. I told nursing desk I was leaving. But only janitors we’re sitting there. They didn’t question that I was leaving. Third world quality of care.

I have been there to Starbucks and Tim hortons to grab a quick breakfast and coffee! What a beautiful hospital and staff are very caring, nice, smile when I arrived there! OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is the biggest hospital I have ever been to! It’s wonderful that It even have Tim Horton’s and Subway, and Starbucks inside - great convenience for visitors and staff members to grab a quick bite to eat!

Having a loved one on yellow 8211 was a horrifying experience and shows how corrupt Riverside, and all big pharma backed companies are. An 84 year old patient. Left in a room with no nurse or tech checking on him for 5-6 hours at a time. No pillow. When telling the NP that I wanted to take my family member home she blamed me for occupying her time with needed to talk to her and said that’s why the discharge papers weren’t done. 3 hours later they still weren’t done. If you speak up they make you wait longer. Horrible. Horrible experience. I’m horrified!

The E.R. Staff are very rude and unprofessional. Arrived at 3:05 pm everyone was sleeping and snoring by the late afternoon. We were in there yesterday waiting for over 6 hours no timeline given no updates absolutely awful. When we asked about progress around 9:30 pm we were yelled at. When we were going to leave my friend needed his foot rewrapped and we both thought the nurse was saying she needed his ID. Yet she was saying IV which he did not have or need. Then a Nurse pointed at her arm violently and screamed IV!!!!!! So disrespectful after waiting that long. We left at around 9:45 pm slowest service I've ever seen at a Hospital. We are going to Mount Carmel East today. Didn't care much for our stay at Riverside. We won't be going back.

The people working in this emergency room should be ashamed of themselves. My partner was brought here by an ambulance and was left ALONE in the waiting room line, without a wheel chair. When I arrived he was barely able to stand holding onto a wall and puking blood. I had to ask a police officer for a wheel chair because the nurses did not care enough about him to provide him one. During a 4 hour wait to even be seen, he continuously passed out from pain and when I begged the nurses for help we were either ignored or told we would “just have to wait.” I would think if someone is brought in an ambulance they would be able to get quicker attention. Not to mention, there were people who showed up after us, who were taken care of before us. The paramedics brought him in at 11 am and he was not given a room until 10:30 pm.

My wife was flown to Riverside Methodist from a local ER to their ER on September 01, 2020. She was put in a room where she saw NO ONE for three hours. When I got there she told me she needed to go to the restroom. She already pushed the nurse call button but nobody came. So I push it again and waited. No body came. I went to the nurse's station and told them if my wife was truly having a stroke like the local ER said, she'd be in real trouble by now. A nurse told me to go back to the room and wait. There were seven or eight nurses just standing around at the nurse's station. We left! and went to another hospital for help. My wife would have gotten better care at the local DOG POUND then she did at Riverside Methodist. At least at a dog pound they give them something to eat and some water and let them go out to use the bathroom! Riverside Methodist only cares about the all mighty dollar.

I went in after a bad car accident where I totaled my car. They took me back for imaging right away, which is the ONLY thing they did right. I told the doctor doing the imaging that I was having issues with my vision and he asked if I had told anyone, like I wasn’t just telling him right then and there. They shoved me in a tiny room with no bed and made me wait for over an hour while blood dripped off of my face. I wheeled myself out and asked a nurse if I could get something for the blood and she just stared at me like a deer in headlights and walked away. They then took me back out to the waiting area and refused to give me anything for the pain I was in, not even an ice pack until my partner yelled at the front desk attendant for one. I was there 4 hours or so with a full waiting room and only saw one other person be brought back the entire time. We eventually just left after asking what we were even waiting for (they said we needed to stay for the results from imaging, which came back TEN HOURS LATER) Overall, not a good experience. I saw plenty of staff but none of them seemed to be doing anything. I won’t be back.

I could hear the ER nurses in the lobby talking about patients. They were loud and gossipy someone even came out to settle them down. I think these are HIPPA violations. I was being seen and for the most part it was ok but a few nurses were absolutely cruel to me. I understand being busy but aren't they being paid to care? Isn't that the whole profession of nursing? Not some power trip. Katrina was the meanest nurse I've ever met. Perhaps she's burnt out. It was the beginning of her shift so you would think she'd have been nicer. I will say that Rose may have been the most amazing nurse I have ever had in any hospital anywhere. You could tell she was busy and yet she thrived.

I’ve been both a patient here and the daughter of patients here for many situations. Most of my experiences here have been great considering we’re in a hospital where nobody wants to be. I’ve had both of my kids here and have been here as a patient a few times over the past years. From having a car accident and needing simple scans to having major surgery. I’ve honestly only had one horrible experience and one not great experience out of the 9 times I can recall having been a patient here spanning over the past 12 years. All other experience I’ve had here has been wonderful. The staff has always been pleasant. Most staff members are more than happy to help and keep you comfortable. One of my more recent visit to the ER there was no wait at all and I got the care I needed/was admitted and was taken care of at a fast pace. I was admitted from a Sunday evening until a Thursday afternoon. My only bad experiences involved one transport worker and maybe one or two other employees who aren’t actually hired/contracted by riverside from my understanding. I reached out to their grievances department and reported my concerns. I believe I was taken seriously and they will resolve or have resolved any issues concerned with my care. My most recent experience was wonderful, it was a scheduled follow up procedure and everyone took great care of myself and my needs. Thank you to all of the amazing staff members!

Everyone here is extremely friendly , helpful & attentive .. But .. I don’t feel like my problems were truly listened to. & this is in regards to the ER. I went in for severe heartburn for days after accidentally taking Midol on an empty stomach. I told both the admitting nurse & attending physician the entire story. He comes back to tell me I have a “stomach bug”. They gave me a bunch of medications & sent me on my way, still in extreme pain. They prescribed me an anti inflammatory which was the entire reason I was even in pain to begin with .. I just felt like they were quickly trying to find an answer & get me out of there

This hospital has the rudest staff I've encountered at any medical facility. They do not communicate in any kind of timely manner to their patients and their family. They never know anything..couldn't even tell us the Dr's name that just completed a procedure on a family member in ICU...apparently the ridiculously rude nurse can't check the chart. We are close to transferring our family member to another hospital because we are so concerned with the lack of communication and the attitudes of staff members. I would not recommend anyone using this hospital. They have made an already stressful matter so much worse with their total lack of empathy. You have to continually contact them bc even tho they are supposed to update you, they never call with an update. Terrible experience so far.

I would like to say I had the best labor experience here. I went in for my induction, and my night nurse (Brittany) was amazing and super caring! Then when the nurses switched for day shift, I got Taylor. She was extremely supportive and helpful. She is one of the best nurses I’ve ever had in a hospital. She talked us through everything and really cared about the level of care she was giving! As a first time mom, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. My postpartum nurses were also really great and helped a ton!! Definitely will be back to Riverside when I decide to have another baby!

Instructed by family physician to go to an ER; my family researched noted GI facilities and found Riverside Hospital rated #1. So, they took me there. I was assessed and provided a room in the ER. After further testing, I was assigned a regular room in about two hours. Assessment and testing continued. I was informed of the processes and findings throughout this time. Even though my family physician is not of the Ohio Health group, they were able to successfully meld all my medical information to successfully and safely treat me.... deeply appreciative. Nurses and PSA's introduced themselves, conducted themselves professionally, and cared for me for three days. The room was smallish (but what room does one in bed actually need?), however the hallways are the quietest of any hospital I've experienced to date. Discharge instructions were explained in detail. They ensured I had safe transportation home. Highly recommended.

My mother is currently admitted to Riverside, I was talking to my friend about the amazing care she was getting there and decided to look at the reviews. I’m shocked that this hospital only has 3 stars. My mom spends a lot of time in the hospital due to her kidney failure, and other serious conditions. Mom went to a hospital before this one who completely ignored her very serious condition to the point that moms podiatrist wouldn’t send her back to that hospital and recommended she go to riverside instead. Within 3 hours of mom being out of the ER waiting room (we obviously sat there for a very long time 6+ hrs. But that time was well worth it) a resident had diagnosed her with gangrene and shortly after the doctor came in and had a game plan, and made sure he left us with no questions. She was admitted and got to a room around 1am. Starting at 5am doctors started arriving, and by 9am we had seen a whole slew of residents, CNP’s and 9 doctors from different specialty’s. All of which were very very informative and covered every concern we had. As well as listened to everything we had to say with care. My mothers care here has been the best care she has received anywhere. The nurses from the ER to the floor she’s on have been so fantastic, I spent the night with her the first night she was there her nurse not only made sure mom knew it was okay to push her call button for anything and everything. She went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed as well. Every doctor we’ve seen has been beyond outstanding. Mom has to have a very scary surgery done tomorrow as well as an amputation and it makes me swell with happiness and hope that she is at riverside and not the previous hospital. Despite the bad reviews on google, please see for yourself that this hospital is the place to go for great care!

Third day in hospital with spine fracture still waiting for MRI and in severe pain. Loved one’s urine that was collecting in container was very minimal and dark brown in color. Nurse didn’t notice until I pointed it out. When I asked about hydration RN Michelle said it was the responsibility of the patient to drink plenty of fluids even though she was on heavy pain meds and mostly sleeping. I had to ask for IV fluids and a uti test which was positive, but antibiotics weren’t started till hours later. I would rather be treated by my dog’s vet than anyone at Riverside.

Their E.R women are so disrespectful, controlling and inconsiderate. They are very intimidating, not welcoming at all. They ignore your request and proceed with what they want to do, regardless of your suggestions. I allowed them to stick me 5 times before I told them I no longer want to do the blood work. I asked one of the nurses several times to please get out of my arm the fishing hurts. She continued to look for a vein and fish around until my arm finally jerked from the pain. Then she got mad at me. Worst E.R I've ever been to. I ended up being told I was denied services because i didn't want an IV. I can't make that up, they told me to leave. I ended up going elsewhere thankfully they're not the only hospital.

All the nurses were very accommodating, very respectful and went above and beyond , asked everything if i needed anything else before they left room I Highly respect them I felt secured and safe and clean with all of them. Awesome safe staff! Thank God for the all the nurses! They saved my life! Unfortunately the nurses and food delivery don't get enough attention/ credit for all they do. Sad. If it wasn't for the nurses, the hospital wouldn't be able to operate. God Bless Them All 🙏 ❤️ My father sometimes goes to the VA, prior military bit mainly Riversde Methodist Columbus and myself. Me and himself if we could, would give way more than 5 stars. The nurses are always excellent, checked in every hour, honestly sometimes sooner. Clean room bathrooms and bed. Had our own room to ourselves. No complications at all. Just compliments. I do hope every nurse and "higher" ups get this message. Respectfully, Jennifer Hasson Sent

Absolutely amazing emergency room! I have been sick the last four days and previously had gone to a different emergency room that did not even see me after 9 hours. I was checked in at Riverside within 5 minutes of my arrival and given a room within the hour! All of the nurses and doctors were super helpful and kind and answered all of my questions. They took amazing care of me and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

Asked to speak to a nurse in labor and delivery she said she can't answer any questions or give advice over the phone. Understandable but Not even able to give basic information about pregnancy? You're better off asking Google. And I wanted to deliver here, I most definitely change my mind. A nurse can't even answer one question over the phone. The question was can food poisoning affect the fetus... She said she can't answer. Okay so whatever I'll sit at home and see what happens. Who wants to drive over an hour for nothing if the question can be answered over the phone

It's very important to remember that your emergency room bill WILL be way bigger than you expect. Never ever think that you can puzzle out what they'll bill you using their public prices and common sense. My favorite charge was the $250 they added bc I have insurance If you get a testicular ultrasound like I did the ER they will do "two entirely different scans" during the 5 minutes you're in the chair, so they'll charge you $1500 instead of the (already too high) $800 you might expect. And they'll slap another $900 on the emergency room fee for good measure

My labor and delivery experience was a wonderful one due to all the diligent tech/rn and Ob at riverside who talked me through my labor and cared for me and my newborn boy post pardum, I spoke with a lactation consultant the next day who was fabulous as well! I couldn't have been happier with my experience at riverside.

I am currently in the hospital with issues breathing. The nurses have been treating me very badly. They attempted to discharge me when the issue has not been resolved. I was told by a dr hicks. If I didn't like it I could leave. I was released from this hospital 4 days earlier and they did not address my problems but the ambulance made me come back here. When I came back they removed me from the meds that they prescribed a few days prior not allowing time to see if they would work. If you need great care from a great staff. This is not the place to come too

We came in 2 meters dilated. Within 2 hours our dilation was 4. At that point we was admitted for being in active labor. Within 10 mins of getting in the room Nurse Arica suggested a medication that would allow dilation to advance more smoothly. She didn't talk about how fast it can cause the baby to come and the side effects of medication being it speeds labor up to much. Well the water broke within 45 mins of taking the medication and unlucky for my child he was newly breached and they cant try to flip the baby after that medication and the water broke. My kids nose was extremely disfigured due to contractions being unnatural and more powerful. And to beat it all we had to have a cesarean due to not being able to even attempt to manually flip the baby. Then fathers are treated like they dont exist during or after the process. I was disrespected, wife traumatized and my baby will likely be permanently disfigured, all thanks to Dublin Methodist Hospital.

Two Part. Transfer from Grove City to Riverside because they needed support and surgery. This hospital is old but you can’t tell it from both the outside and inside. My mother born here. Unfortunately watch the passing of my mothers grandparents pass away here. So when they give me a choice to choose who I trust IK Riverside is the best in all of Columbus. IK that they do everything in their power to fix me. I might not agree with them, but they not stop being nice, professional curtailing my treatments to maximize my well being. ER turns to Emergency Surgery it’s a place I would highly recommend. Three Generations of trust.

As a RN, i know each hospital experience is different for every patient. That being said I have been using Riverside Methodist to meet my ER and Obstetrician needs for a number of years and I have never had a bad experience. My most recent visit the postpartum staff were extremely kind, patient, and gentle. Especially RN Billie and PCA Kayla who made my three day stay so much easier. Even my ER visits are usually quick with the staff listening and always taking my concerns seriously. My husband who I can barely get to a doctor for care has always been taken care of and treated fairly when we go to Riverside.

I have had 3 experiences in the past 8 years for very serious heart and brain conditions. Previously, I have had experiences at other hospitals that did not compare to Riverside in terms of professionalism, follow up support, and accuracy of the doctors and other medical staff. Furthermore, all the support staff were very kind, each time. I am so grateful. I am in good hands when I’m at Riverside.

this hospital & they’re ER nurses/OB drs & nurses were absolutely amazing. They were so kind, compassionate & caring. They made me feel like I was family to them. Wonderful staff who deal with absolute chaos as if poor behavior management is their job. However extremely busy and with some nut jobs. We've been here for a few hours and Apparently Mondays are when everyone who was too busy all weekend to come to the hospital, decides that they now have a sudden emergency so avoid any er on Mondays I suppose. EDIT: After leaving, I can say I truly had some of the best nurses that I've ever received care from. I'm thankful for their genuine care and professionalism, amazing staff working impressively with tough patients. Thank you to all staff I had on my team today.

I just had my baby less than 24 hours ago. Still currently in the hospital as I type this out. Labor and delivery has been absolutely outstanding to me and my family. From being checked in with my water breaking to encouraging me through the labor and delivery I wanted. My doctor and the nurses all found balance that met the needs of my baby’s safety and my wishes for the birth experience. I am so happy with how the entire stay has been. I have been checked on every hour. My baby has been taken such great care of and my heart is genuinely full. You can feel the love for babies and mommas on this floor. Thank you to all the nurses and Drs who have taken care of us during our stay. We will always trust riverside hospital with our family.

Honestly would like to put no stars. The ER is very neglectful if you have Covid.. They put you in a Room for 3 hours with no test , no one to check in , nothing... Took my mom there she has other issues and they put us in a room with a sign and barely anyone came in to talk to us. It was like they wanted us to leave.. NOW 3 days later I took her to another hospital St. Annes and they ran all the test and scans and found that she had pneumonia. These doctors are so scared to actually be doctors because of the big bad COVID.. My mother was very ill and they just treated us awful at Riverside and we decided to get out of there an go after being ignored. They werent even busy thats the thing. So no thanks for your lack of health care. They claim to listen and be about the patient but that all changes when you get COVID they will let you die first before doing anything else.

This is the best hospital to have a baby at!!! Five stars all the way!!!! Between the nurses being such superhero’s and making sure we were takin care of and the nutrition here it was absolutely amazing… the food is like 100% the best food I’ve ever had at a hospital fresh I mean the green beans are not from a can they are actual green beans … so great job to the cooks and the staff nurses everyone so amazing….

I went in for a quick surgery that turned into a 2 day stay. I'm very appreciative of the short term surgery stay nursing unit. Roxy, Alex & Logan was so patient, kind and caring during my stay. They do nursing correctly. They never made me feel like I was a burden and encouraged me to relax and let then take care of me. Thank you to the whole team!

First of all, I want to say the nurses are wonderful. I also liked my doctor. However, Last Tuesday, (5 days ago) I was admitted through the ER because of severe neck pain due to herniated disks, bulging disks and arthritis. They said they would get me on a pain management regime until I could get my surgery done. I was doing fairly well due to overlapping medications: muscle relaxants. tylenol, antiinflamatories, morphine (orally), toradol IV, and morphine IV and other medications I can't remember. Yesterday, my blood pressure had gone down because the pain management was working, the pain was reduced to a manageable level. We talked about releasing me. Pain Management came in and told me the plan was to discontinue the IV medications. She wasn't going to replace either with an oral medication. I asked her what if my pain level went back up because I was no longer taking the other two medications; she assured me that even though they did not do hospital rounds on the weekends the doctor could get ahold of them and they would make adjustments. Late last night I started to be in more pain and my blood pressure was going up due to the pain (I am already on blood pressure medication to keep my blood pressure down). This morning (Saturday) it was much worse; almost to the level of when I came in on Tuesday. I told my nurse first thing this morning. I also told the hospitalist (doctor). They both said they would contact pain management to let them know and get them to adjust the pain medication. Perhaps, give me oral toradol. Or increase the strength of the Morphine. In any event, pain management did not respond until around 2 pm. They authorized that the Gabapentin would be increase. This medication is for nerve pain. That is NOT what I am having. The hospitalist cannot override the pain management recommendation. In other words, the doctor is powerless. I told the nurse that this was unconscionable to leave me in pain. That was not why I was admitted to the hospital. I was admitted to control the pain. I told the nurse if I was going to be in pain and they weren't going to do anything about it, I was going home. She said she would talk to the doctor. I did not see her - an hour passed. By then my husband had gotten to the hospital. I packed up my things. Took out my IV. We walked out the door. Not one person said a word! This is the worse hospital I have ever been to. I have filed a complaint with Medicare (my secondary insurance). Hospitals get a ton of money from Medicare so, Medicare has some clout. I hope the hospital is fined for not taking care of their patient.

If I could give zero it would be a zero. The level of customer service and communication is horrible. Family member had 8/10 chest pains 4.5 hrs later no answer no doctor not even a nurse to give any results. Finally left after they said we had a room...then waited another hour.

If I could give a NEGATIVE 0/5 stars I would. Do not go to this hospital, worst hospital and staff ever! Nurses and Staff are disrespectful, inconsiderate and they don’t care or help when needed the most or have a sense of urgency during an emergency. Here is my full review. The most disrespectful staff I have dealt with. The nurses who went to school and learned about mental health should have have been more understanding of my struggles and my mental health and attempted suicide. Instead the nurses especially in the ER and the psychiatrists were rude, disrespectful and not helpful. My mental health was so bad. I was struggling with mental health for awhile and faked a smile and they had no empathy. I was frustrated and hurt. The nurse who put my IV in which hurt really bad. Next thing I know I’m in in an uncomfortable situation I don’t want publicly on the internet. The Doctors and Nurses that were the worst to me were these people, and names. I don’t recommend Dr.Hardin, Nurse Tara S., and Kristen. The nurses were apart of the ER and the Doctor was apart of the Medical floor. I am from a good area of Columbus Ohio, and the psychiatrist which was explained by me I wanted to be sent to a good hospital and she sends me to the next available not thinking not many patients go there based on the transportation staff. It was in a scary area and I was super scared.Dr.Hardin got irritated got up and walked away in the middle of our conversation. So rude. I would never reccomend Riverside to anyone. Especially the ER, because the staff was rude, disrespectful, non understanding and sympathetic, and did not have sense of urgency when I needed them the most. they came back 20 minutes later to ask me if I needed what I requested for. If they would of just been there with there sooner the 20 minutes the whole situation would of been different with the uncomfortable traumatizing experience I had instead they told me when I was trying to advocate for myself, they told me “well ur not the only patient here, you did this to yourself… Your an adult, you need to act like on. There are other patients at the ER, ur not the only patient.” Which during my uncomfortable situation multiple staff told me and I just got upset and frustrated and still had no medicine to help me. I understood and respected there were more patients but they were prioritizing other patients needs then mine and ignored me when I was trying to get there attention with my door closed which they wouldn’t open to see what I wanted. which is wrong, every patient deserves respect care, they need to prioritize every patient… and be an understanding staff because every patient is having a hard time and going through something bad or something else in the ER. Instead they were to busy listening to my frustrated tone and not seeing I was scared and worried about me and my mental health which is a terrible experience it makes you irritable because no one is listening to. It was an horrific experience. I was so scared and worried. Your staff at riverside needs properly trained and re trained on respect and understanding patients issues rather then being frustrated and plain out disrespectful and irritable with the patients. I really hope no other patients go what I went through because now I have to live through the trauma and pain I felt in the ER and go to therapy for it. I am complaining and stating names because no one should ever go through this pain ever and have a staff that doesn’t listen nor care for u. This is absolutely devastating. I hope this review can fix riversides issues and be addressed and these staff members need to be addressed as well. -0/5 star rating. Never going back. You lost a future patient forever. I hope no other patients have to go through what I did ever.

My husband had to have his kidney removed. This was our first time at Riverside. Every staff member we came in contact with was very kind and helpful. From the volunteer giving us directions to all the medical staff throughout the process. This made a very stressful situation much more pleasant. The doctors and nurses at all levels were so helpful and seemed to care about the patient and the family members. Thank you for all the great!

Horrible and disgusting the way I was treated as a patient. I gave birth in L&D and the nurses were nice but the ER doctors are awful no bedside manner, 4 hours to be seen for 15 mins and told to take Benadryl. Shame on you- you took the hippocratic oath to do no harm.

Gave birth here on 01/30/2021 and I am beyond impressed with the hospitality received. From walk in to discharge it was truly an amazing experience. The nursing staff was nothing short of amazing. The Dr who delivered my daughter was amazing. Their compassion, attentiveness, patience, the professionalism just EVERYTHING was A1. I would love to write an essay but I’ll just leave it at everyone there was exceptional in every way. I would recommend a million times. Thank you for caring for my daughter and I the way you all did. We are forever grateful. P.s. I owe everything to Nurse Elays. She was my rock and I don’t think she knows. I couldn’t have pushed through if it weren’t for her.

I have never experienced such caring and compassionate staff at an ER until I came to Riverside hospital! The doctors and Nurses as well as the surgical team, the PCA’s etc. were all very attentive, they listened to my concerns and they treated me with respect while taking care of my embarrassing yet excruciating pain! Thank you all for taking such great care of me! I will never go anywhere else again for emergency care.

This facility River Vista Health and Wellness not Riverside did not advise son of right to leave at day 3. He is prepared to go but they wanted to keep him until Friday because the social worker is off rest of week. No individualized care plan in place yet and just med management. Well I can do that at home as a nurse. Outpatient is needed now. This place thinks smoking cigarettes is therapy. My son does not smoke. Because he talks a lot and asks questions night shift says he is disruptive and gives him ahots to sleep. When asked what is disruptive? The nurse had no clue

I came into the hospital to get a CT with contrast to identify a potential kidney stone. They decided to do a CT without contrast and nothing was identified as a result. Then they sent me home and recommend Advil for the pain. A few days later I came into the ER with excruciating pain and the doctors ran many other tests on me. Finally they ran a CT with contrast and identified my kidney stone. When receiving our bill, they charged us for all the extra tests and ER stay, even though they decided to do a CT without contrast. If they did a CT with contrast intially as written by my physician, it would have saved me the extra pain and the thousands of dollars in tests.

I was transferred from OhioHealth Mansfield due to a complication after my surgery. I arrived at 11. 6 hours later I was still in the er. On top of this when I requested my pain meds when they were due there was no one to be found. You would think that having a patient post surgery would help encourage get medication delivered faster. The staff also didn’t seem friendly and did not have much interest in my care.

I have stayed at Riverside twice. Once in August 2020 for two weeks. The staff was great but I couldn’t get the same answer from the doctor or nurses or specialists. That was frustrating. My most recent stay as a patient is this week October 2020. It will be a shorter stay - about 5 days. This time there are no blankets in the hospital. And only one pillow to a room. I am wondering if the hospital is going downhill? Or is it just this week?

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! The nurse did not want to feed my loved one, her comment was he’s on a feeding tube! I was told I could wash his hair! He was put on a drug that I specifically told them he can not take!! So much more bad, not trying to bore anyone, just happy to get him out before they sent him to the Morgue.

I had bariatric surgery at RMH. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I had really nice nurses and aides on the bariatric unit and in pre-op. Dr. Sonnanstine did a great job. If you're considering bariatric surgery, I highly recommend him and Ohio Health Riverside Methodist Hospital. My only downside was that I had to wait an hour for room service, so I had to pre plan my liquid meals and that the discharge took 3 hours. Otherwise, great experience.

I had my baby girl here and the staff took really good care of her and they also made sure to take care of me. I had a lady named Susie helped deliver my baby. She did good with coaching me. She was very nice. All of the staff in the maternity unit was nice. The room was clean and so was the facility. The only thing I did not like was that my daughter tested positive for a drug in my system apparently. They said it could be the fentanyl in the epidural and I didn’t know about it having fentanyl. They wanted her to stay an extra day because of withdrawal from a drug that was like soboxin or methadone. I have no idea what they were talking about. They said if the test come back as passing then they just say it was a false positive. I don’t take drugs or even like taking them when it’s prescribed to me. My husband was mad and wanted to talk to the pediatrician and then the pediatrician the next day said she can go home the same day as me. So it’s like they were saying it was one thing and then the next day it was something else and that everything was okay. That’s the only part I did not like about the hospital. The pediatrician area did not seem like they knew what they were doing but other than that I did have a good experience.

My experience here has been good so far my baby boy was born at 34 weeks and has been improving daily. I'm ready for him to come home. He has been in excellent care staff are super friendly and check up on him alot. They even offer cameras to view them. My care for myself was nice they did take some time to get around to check on me but they went above to make sure I didn't need anything. The NICU unit was amazing and kept me informed about my baby and his progress as well. Nicu ladies sue. Cheryl. And Stephanie. Megan all helped and insured me my child was in the best hands and there care for him was amazing. Riverside I will def recommend to anyone who needs to deliver and need NICU.

5 STARS!!! - This portion of the review is specifically for Medical Records Department. I needed to get some historical medical records from over 10 years ago related to emergency room visit. I filled out the request via Patient Portal online, then a couple online messages, and phone calls. It was in progress, but I wasn't sure on timeline and I know they are busy and I am not sure if they have enough staffing for such a big hospital. One of the phone calls I spoke to Destiny, she was amazing and provided the best possible timeline. I was not looking for a guarantee, but forecasting an expected time. Destiny provided plenty of insight given the records requested and options for delivery/pickup. On our second contact with Destiny, she provided a pickup date once we went over some details. This is what customer service is going above and beyond, especially meaningful for medical records - I hope their management team reads this message and understand these type of records are like "gold" for follow up medical teams to read/review and get baseline/historical references. Thanks again Destiny and Medical Records Department.

Emergency room visits are never fun, especially during the times of covid… but Doctor Sham and RN Katie were absolutely amazing. Horrible experience! We were told that “only one visitor” could go back (even though 3 days prior they allowed visitor #2 stay in the waiting room and staff was divided on allowing it). We were also told that visitor 2 would have to “go and wait in his car” (in 20 degree weather). I, needing to stay with my patient daughter, am wheelchair bound. As it turned out, we were told my daughter would be admitted, but had to wait for a room on a certain unit. We waited over 9-10 hours for that room! Can you imagine having to sit in a hard wheelchair for that long and how uncomfortable that is… or sitting in a car in 20 degrees weather for that long? How absurd!! I also overheard them at the front desk say to another visitor (whom was asking to go back with a patient), “Doesn’t he already have a couple of visitors back there?” So, why can one patient have more than one visitor while a visitor of another patient (in a wheelchair) not be allowed to even have their “support person” push them back to where the patient is? On a brighter side, the OB resident was very nice! Thus, he gets one star to represent this so-called “healthcare establishment”!

I cannot say enough good things about the hospital staff and administrative procedures. I have been a patient at Riverside since 1988 off and on for spine, bladder and head surgeries. The quality of care was fantastic up until 2010 I would say then I started noticing some issues. One being prejudices and the other staff not believing what you say you are feeling. Outsourced nurses are among the problems however my experiences with my Drs. are great.

A staff member Stole a $1300 ring off my finger while I was having convulsions from a smoking weed that was apparently laced with an indigenous flower that is poisonous. My life in danger by hostile means associated with political differences. I use to be able to count on Riverside to keep me safe and secure. Theu refuse to compensate me and even imply I cant be trusted even though every picture I have taken in the last 2 almost 3 years shows me wearing the ring. I don't even take it off to shower. I provided the details of the incident verbatim and gave indication that if considered with critical analysis proves the hospital lost the ring in their negligence or it was stolen. I wonder in what circumstances would they take responsibly or provide compensation considering that if analyzed through means of critical thinking it becomes clear that I definitely had it on upon entry but that a verbatim conversion can be remembered during the removal of the rungs book

The doctor's and staff at Ohio Gastroenterology were extremely professional and understanding while getting me through my procedure. Sadly it's tough enough going to a hospital But every trash can at the main entrance is over flowing and trash falling out. And one more trash can inside the doors with gross used masks sitting and laying on top of the trash can full. Mention it to the front desk people and they say, oh yeah, like it's been mentioned before Now leaving 2 hours later Still full This is a state of the art world facility and you can't even empty a trash can regularly . Sad

I don’t enjoy going to a hospital, ever… and then add in that we were from out of state, there for a wedding, that just adds a LOT of panic to the situation! I was transferred to Riverside Methodist, from another hospital, and let’s just say it was seriously very chaotic, we weren’t from there, lots of unknowns about my diagnosis, it was VERY early in the morning, lots of crying from me and my daughters! Bless my husband for remaining our rock!.. Nearly everyone was so nice and helpful, The nighttime charge nurse, the doctor, cna? I’m not entirely sure what their positions were called, but they were soooo nice! And then the morning doctor, Katie Dewitt, neurologist, Dr.Katz, and my nurse Amy N… were godsends! They made stuff happen, and so quickly.. And guess what, WE MADE IT TO THE WEDDING! (My daughters were flower girls and I was doing a reading!)..We got our prayers answered for a “boring” MRI. I even made it to get my hair and make up done, which was very needed since I left the rehearsal dinner and went straight to the hospital, whew. But thank you to everyone involved in my care that day.

Like any medical facility there are good and not so good people working there. My biggest complaint was with the food service. If you don’t order, you don’t get it. Also called in on room phone and was on hold for 15 minutes. They said don’t hang up or you will lose you place on line. While on hold, I called using my cell phone and someone answered immediately. Go figure. Since my wife was unable to order herself, she received no breakfast the first morning. Other hospitals are much better and provide a basic tray without having to place a special call.

I broke/dislocated my foot/ankle on Sunday 8.20.2023. I was brought to the ER in an ambulance(shoutout to Columbus Medic 19) around 1:30 PM. The ER was clearly busy, I was almost placed in overflow but ended up in a pediatric room. Long story short, everyone I dealt with was an example of a true professional in an industry that never receives enough thanks. All the nurses I interacted with were kind, and attentive, and almost made me forget my foot was practically a 90-degree angle from my leg. I apologize if I spell a name incorrectly, but nurses Lillie and Kim were 5/5 stars would recommend. NP Kate and Ortho tech Kasey were real ones, if you ever need a team to yank your foot and/or bones back into place, they are the professionals you want. The X-ray techs were awesome, Jeffrey was great, and definitely gentle around the whole broken ankle thing. A woman took X-rays after everything was back in place, I'm sorry I can't remember her name, but she was great too. CAT scan squad was 5/5 stars, sorry my phone fell out of my pocket mid-scan, but because they told me the difference between a CAT scan and an MRI I stayed perfectly still because I wasn't afraid of the machine yanking my phone like a magnetically charged bullet. Apologies if I forgot anyone that I interacted with. I know everyone at the ER is usually seeing people at their worst times, but everyone is there because they truly care. I don't believe anyone is forced to work in an Emergency Room, they do it because they care. Everyone has bad days, but everyone I had the pleasure of interacting with must've been having a good day because they dealt with my bad jokes and other stress-coping mechanisms in stride and made one of my worst days not so bad after all. I know they don't get the recognition they truly deserve, but I hope this review helps.

Very bad experience here with a rude nurse who could not get my IV started and kept trying (never had a problem before?) I lost faith in the competency of their staff and left. Will not return. I'm well aware that it is the *patient* who can choose who gets to take care of them. No one should pay for OR stay for bad and painful medical experiences.

As a newer employee here, I have had nothing but great experiences so far!! Love my shift an the co workers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. But, Heather the second shift lead needs to have a serious visit from HR. I have watched play favorites an deliberately not give breaks to certain, she plays favorites. Ive watched her stack up someone’s runs, but then turn around and give everybody else a very small run sheet. I’ve watched her speak to everybody but certain people in a room when coming in to the office. Honestly, this is the type of behavior that I did not expect a OhioHealth to even tolerate, none of the supervisors to tolerate, and this is definitely not what Ohio health shows that they stand for. This is also something that will cause employees to leave frequently even though this hospital is absolutely amazing. It’s definitely got me on the edge myself!

This rating is for labor & delivery and the postpartum unit....and triage. Everything related to childbirth. I delivered in January and will never deliver there or maybe nowhere ever again because of such a terrible experience. I felt like the nurses were just herding women through like cattle with little to no care or empathy. Triage told me my water broke at 34 weeks when it hadn't and nearly started pitocin I went in with side pain which was repeatedly ignored and I was sent home with no reassurance or answers. I had to figure out for myself that I had a uti and call my OB and beg for medicine. I started having hypertension (I think from all of the stress) and ended up being induced at 37 weeks. My birthing experience was a nightmare. When we arrived, we waited for 20 minutes outside of L&D holding bags and standing on my feet because nobody would answer the door. The first nurse was knowledgeable and experienced, I wish I could remember her name and wish we would've had her the whole time. When it came time for the epidural, the nurse administering it put it in too far to the right causing me to have a lot of pain and had to do it again correctly. During my birth experience, we had four different nurses in a 24 hour time period. One of which was called in and made it very apparent that she didn't want to be there. My husband was ignored during the entire process and everyone acted like he wasn't even there. The nurses talked amongst themselves loud enough that we could hear them about concerning things like the baby's heart rate being too high and me having an infection. I tried to ask questions but they didn't give me any reassurance. I was told I was ready to push (and felt ready) around 10pm but my doctor scheduled SEVEN inductions for the same day and her presence and attentiveness was severely lacking. I got an infection from my water being broke too long and at one point my doctor told me "I think he will fit". She told me I was having an emergency but another patient had a bigger emergency and needed a c section and I needed to decide if I wanted a c section or for her to suck the baby out (which also could cause brain damage). It was at least an hour and a half before she returned after having that conversation. I ended up pushing him out but his head was severely swollen and the doctor said he had the biggest head she's ever delivered. I don't say that braggingly but that the doctor and nurses were negligent. After not being able to eat for over 24 hours, I was brought water and crackers. It took hours to go to postpartum and then after getting settled and finally having time to order breakfast, you have to wait two hours for the meal to be delivered. My husband got food poisoning from the breakfast and started throwing up. My first trip to the bathroom AS A FIRST TIME MOM, the nurse pointed to the bathroom and said everything you need is in there. I had to ask her to show me what to do and to help me since I could barely walk and my husband was sick. She acted like it was a pain to help. Throughout our stay, the room felt depressing and I felt I cared for. The least somebody could have done was to check to see if I was eating and drinking enough. We were under the impression that our baby would be in our room at all times except for the circumsision. This is far from the truth. I also needed help with breastfeeding and it was over 24 hours before I actually had somebody helpful to work with me. The first lactation consultant scolded me that I was doing it wrong but wouldn't help me with any techniques. There was a pump in the room but I didn't quite know how to use it or how much to use it and I didn't receive any help with that either even when asking. I was in tears so much during our stay at the hospital and it was a launching pad for my postpartum anxiety and depression. This is just a little bit of my experience there but I would never step foot in this hospital again.

I went to have some test run that day a CT Scan and a Mammogram. The technicians in both departments were polite, kind and welcoming. They explained both procedures step by step making sure I was comfortable throughout testing. I waited longer for the appointments than the actual testing took. I had most results before the end of the day.

You're gonna get a wait time at an ER. It's inevitable. However, since I've been here I've spoke to so many different staff members. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Is so nice and helpful. I don't wind up in the hospital often at all. They've all made me and my family feel as comfortable as possible. I couldn't thank the staff enough

By far the worst treatment from a hospital in Ohio. Went in the ER do to bad stomach pains and very high fever. So I was the only one in line when I came in. Stood online for 25 minutes. Another man comes in and they offer him a wheelchair. Also took him before me which was very rude. I push through my pain so I guess since I didn’t look like I was dying it wasn’t important. After waiting another 20 minutes they took my vitals and blood work. Just to put me in a room for 2 hours and they doctor comes in tells me what’s wrong then tells me he’s sending me home. Not one question about how I felt or was going on with. Just what the nurses told him.

I will never go to Riverside again, ever! And never to ANY Ohio Health facility. Checked in online for the ER and once I arrived it was downhill from there. I can't fathom the lack of communication between doctors, nurses, and staff especially at shift change. If the nurses would actually take the time to read the notes from the doctors maybe the level of care would be better. Most nurses I encountered were rude and dismissive. The neurologist on call stated in his notes he examined me which is an absolute lie. He waltzed in the room for about 30 seconds and left saying there was little he could do to help me, this was BEFORE my imaging was completed. I can't remember a worse experience. There is a lot of medical gaslighting and dismissive and condescending attitudes from nurses and some doctors. This is supposed to be a neurological center of excellence I wouldn't bring my dog here.

Had surgery a couple days ago, nursing staff and doctor were great! But the anesthesiologist was rude and wouldn’t listen to me when I asked to please let me know when you do something. Ridiculous.

My wife was admitted for a couple of days in December of 2023. The hospital is big and of course adding on which made pRking a little tricky but once parked the treatment and the kind staff were amazing. Her nurse Nicole was one of the kindest nurses ever. Everyone from the security staff to the check in desk ladies, nurses, radiology techs, transporters, and doctors were as kind and helpful as you could ever ask for. The medical care went beyond expectations as they tested for everything and then some just to make sure they got it right. You can tell when the care is great and this was. 5 stars. 7th floor, thanks for being so wonderful.

😠 Tuesday, July 26, 2022, I was admitted to St Francis Hospital. I was placed in the emergency room for 12 hours in filth. When I was admitted at 7:46 AM, the admitting RN had mopped the waiting room and triage room because housekeeping did not show up for work Monday night. The urinals were never emp...

😠 My first and hopefully last visit here! It's now 03:35 on 28MAR22 and as I enter the ER entrance I find the check-in nurse sleeping and a janitor and security guard sitting beside her with their faces buried in their phones.
