1 star just because of the front desk staff. The second I walked in, staff was disrespectful. I told them I was checking in (for an assessment) and they said no, this isn't a hotel, it's a hospital. Which i responded with I'm aware, that's why I'm here. The 'guard' ended up getting wayyy too close to me, which caused me to go silent and end up trying not to cry while just trying to get some help. Desk staff was rude and curt, when I had already began to panic and have anxiety attacks due to the treatment I was given before I was even seen. Retrain your staff, absolutely unacceptable. I also witnessed them snap at multiple people while waiting in the waiting room. Will edit review later when I get seen, hopefully they do better than the staff up front.

This Facility is awful. It's the equivalent of a County Psych Hospital. While the staff was okay. I only met with a Doctor once just before discharge. They never reached out to my Mental Health Care Team, nor followed up with me or my family. Plus they have a racket going on with a Credit company. Don't go here if you want real help.

You should probably look at all the recent reviews. This place definitely isn't four star. They don't involve family at all. You have to basically call them a thousand times to get any info. Front Desk Will isn't the friendliest voice on the line. Once you're loved one is released, don't count on them for any additional support post PHP. Not to mention the units can be dangerous. Also rules tend to vary depending on who you talk to. Sometimes you can call the patient, sometimes not. Sometimes calls end at 10, sometimes not. Also love how they demand you put a mask on during intake while the lady doesn't have one of herself. There's got to be better options in this city.

This is an excellent place to receive treatment. The entire staff is dedicated to making to you well. They truly change lives! I can't thank them enough for the care I received. They allow smoke breaks and the food is actually really good. They gave me my life back. If you are in need of help Sun Behavior is a great choice for your care. They accept walk ins as well so you can avoid the needless wait in the E.R. Thank you Sun behavioral!

First of all, I don't know why they show a basketball area you can't go. Second of all the food is elementary school quality and lukewarm by the time you get to it if you're on the third floor or higher. You can go back for seconds which is nice. Now, if you have a medical issue it's completely ignored and regarded as paranoia. I had surgery and ended up with a post op infection during my stay here. When I mentioned to the staff that I was feeling ill they completely dismissed my concerns and refused to call the medical doctor. It wasn't until I was vomiting that they called him. Then instead of releasing me for a medical concern they forced me to take an ambulance (I will be disputing this charge don't worry) and didn't follow proper procedure so the hospital was able to medically discharge me. Now Sun is holding my belongings hostage. ( I would like to say Courtney took care of me while she was there and was lovely, She is exempt from this and took me seriously. )

My teenage daughter was place here after a suicide attempt. I found the staff pretty unorganized but figured they had a lot to deal with. The day after being admitted the Dr call me with a diagnosis and med change to which my daughter later told me they had spent 3 minutes with her! How did they diagnose her!? The weekend staff was absolutely awful! Always yelling and rude to the children there. One staff named Megan was present when a boy was throwing things at my daughter. My daughter told him to stop(not the staff) and then began to cry to which the boy made fun of her for crying and Megan laughed along with him!!! Another staff was incorrectly listen to my daughter talking to me on the phone then preceeded to yell at her about something she had never said to me. I am her mother and it's none of their business what she tells me and she didn't even say what they were accusing her of. Over all my daughter spent 7 days there had no one on one counseling only group counseling that once consisted of playing ball. My daughter has no behavioral issues as far as aggression or unruliness she was repeatedly yelled at and talked down to by staff that is supposed to be helping these children in their time of need. Shocked that this is even romeyly considered mental health care!!!!!!!

My 15 year old son was a resident at this facility. They took great care of him during his moment of crisis. Will the front desk receptionist was extremely helpful and kind. Not to mention the smoothest operator when dealing with a high paced non-stop call center like front desk. There follow up associate Joy was also one of the nicest people I've spoken to. In my hour of greatest need these folks made a difference...

I wish I could give zero stars. My daughter and I both work in the behavioral health field (outside of Columbus). We have personally been touched with mental health issues, as my son attempted suicide last week. I took my son to the local ER on Wednesday, around 8:30 pm. He was transported Thursday morning at 11:00 am to Sun. My son sat in a waiting area at Sun for at least 4 hours, without any acknowledgment or interaction. Someone that almost successfully committed suicide, sitting, alone, without at least "you doing ok?". He had not ate since the day before. No food was offered. We are completely shocked by this whole situation. His stay didn't go any better. He states he did not get anything out of being there (but thankfully willing to go somewhere else for treatment). My favorite part of his discharge papers was what they educated him on. This is in writing....1. COVID symptoms. 2. COVID awareness (or something). Geeeee... thanks for educating him on COVID but not mental health and substance abuse..... I will add as the other reviews state, he said the food was good, so kudos on that part. Also, the ex military lady that observes the activities, she is the only thing that made him feel at ease. He spoke highly of her. So I would not recommend sending your loved one there! Please seek other facilities! These reviews are very accurate. To Sun, you do not need to respond to this review with your generic, HIPAA comment.

If I could give less than one star I would. I am extremely disappointed in the way my mental health was handled through this facility. I was interested in the outpatient programs so I reached out to begin the process of enrolling. I had my virtual intake appointment on a Friday and the person I spoke with was 15 minutes late to the zoom. I let it go and she was super encouraging and easy to talk with and told me I would hear from the facility later that day so I could begin on Monday. I knew I had to start the program within 72 hours of that intake appointment and waited the weekend for their call. I never heard from them so I called Monday afternoon. Before even telling me which outpatient program I would be in and details about starting, they transferred me 4 times and finally I spoke with someone who said I owe $1200 up front. I understood the financial responsibility but was confused why no one told me anything about the program and was more concerned about getting my money. Finally, I spoke with the woman who runs the outpatient program and she answered my questions but now told me it was too late for me to enroll in the program based on the timing of my first intake appointment and I needed to schedule another one so I could begin on Wednesday. I totally understood and rescheduled for Tuesday but I sat on zoom for 30 minutes for no one to ever answer. Mental health is a serious issue in our society and places like this are meant to support and offer help to those in need. I felt rushed along and that all they cared about was my money. I hope other in need have a better experience than I did because I was extremely disappointed in their care.

No, no no!!! If your child is in crisis please go to nationwide big lots behavioral health down town please!! This is not a place to take a child for a first mental health crisis. Limited staff, not qualified, group sessions vs. individual sessions. Best decision I made was to pull my child out of the intake process and get her downtown

I do not recommend this facility to ANYONE. Parents are not involved with their kids, you can’t get ahold of anyone, you get hung up on several times, administrators don’t even return calls. My child came home worse than going in. They don’t watch your children at all. Your child would get better care in a jail than this place. The way they treat people should be illegal. I attempted to discharge my child and all I got was the staff threatening me and ignoring my calls. I can’t say anything good about this place. If your child needs help please don’t send them here, they will not get the care they need.

The outpatient program is great! Rika is an awesome person with a welcoming personality and helped a lot with setting up transportation! Leigh is the best therapist I have ever had and would recommend requesting her if you want help with your issues! All the staff was great except one person who is still learning their job but they are still kind and respectful!

Applied for a position here and the administration state I was not up for hire which was my first time applying and not giving the opportunity to show my skills and experience in the first place including based off the administrations pesonal issues towards me they decided not to submit my application. I get it that ohio is an at will state and all, one can hire and fire for any reason yet I wasn't even an employee to begin with to be denied for rehire.

I had to take a leave of absence from work due to anxiety and depression and found myself checking out Sun Behavioral. I was able to do the initial assessment virtually, which was very convenient. I participated in the Outpatient program (IOP) and was very impressed with my therapist, Leigh E. She has a great structure to the group therapy, is LGBTQ+ friendly, and is helpful for those with Borderline Personality Disorder. I feel like she explained various coping skills that were easy to implement but didn’t feel pressured to try every single one; just the ones that would be helpful for me. Her room is a very safe space; if you can request a therapist, I’d highly recommend her. Mike was very helpful with submitting paperwork for STD/FMLA. Will and Adam were at the doors every morning to greet patients, and they were both super friendly. While I hope I don’t need to return, I definitely would as long as Leigh was still there.

I honestly didn’t know what to rate this place. Some of the staff didn’t care about anything and you could tell. The worst night was when girls were cutting themselves using their nails with a male staff standing there watching her. i enjoyed my time here for the most part i met very good people that i’m still in touch with to this day. the personal phone rule they have is a good idea because they check with your parents to confirm if that’s a good idea or not. a staff threw towels at one of my friends on the unit and she went off and made our unit go on restriction. there were many fights too but honestly you should expect that going to a mental hospital in general. i took care of many girls because some of the staff NOT ALL but some just stood there looking clueless. i miss the friends i made there and that’s the only thing that made it good, and enjoyable.

Such a great hospital with amazing and caring staff. My son attended PHP and later stepped down to IOP. He came out of the program a changed young man. Less argumentative, moods controlled and so much more helpful. I am forever grateful to Tara, Tyler, Ronnie and Sun as a whole. Definitely have and will continue to recommend Sun.

A large portion of the staff are cold and uncaring. The psychiatrist was rude, condescending, dismissive, and outright disrespectful. He completely dismissed and belittled my primary diagnosis, acting as if it didn't even exist at times. The units are incredibly understaffed. (2, maybe 3 staff members at a time) Understaffing results in a lack of resources for when patients are in crisis or distress and need someone to talk to. There's a lack of food options as well. The entire colour scheme is dark and dreary aside from the blank white walls. Everything else is a dark brown or other dark colours and not supportive of more positive emotions. The only positive parts of being here were the limited times I got to speak with Emily, Natalia, Nicole, Nick, Jocelyn (spelling?), and Vickie(spelling?). All of which seemed to genuinely care and attempt to empathize. They very much helped me get through this experience. One staff member, when asked for a snack, required me to give them a hug despite me stating multiple times that doing so made me uncomfortable. Other patients and the staff member proceeded to laugh at me afterwards for how uncomfortable I was. The initial intake room resembles very much that of a prison intake/holding room. The social worker doing intake crossed multiple stated boundaries, as well as attempted to dig up past trauma before abruptly leaving. This facility feels like nothing more than a way to make money off the mentally ill and those in crisis. There's very little actual respect given by doctors to patients. Specific staff are the only saving grace, and they're few & far between. I would very much recommend going to Riverside Methodist or OSU if you're in need of psychiatric care and avoiding Sun at all costs.

My niece whom I now have custody of was there for 5 Days in Nov 2022. I have had her in different therapies, programs etc since and a big share of the problem is PTSD from her stay there. Her recollections the staff basically do whatever the want with regard to patients, not dispensing medications as directed, letting patients requiring sutures walk around with undressed wounds or sutures, staff forcing patients to give good reviews before they will sign off on the dismissal report for the doctor to sign. My child will never go back there!

It is a fine place if you only need to detox, otherwise, it is substandard. The good revies come from a staff member strong arming you into allowing her to assist you with your review of the facility. I saw a therapist a couple times for about 6 minutes each time. If you are desparate, this place helps, if you are just wanting guidance to get back on track, i encourage you to find another facility.

I found Sun Behavioral to be very beneficial to me. It helped me a lot with my mental health and getting my meds adjusted to where they needed to be. The staff was nice and caring. Alexis was friendly and kind, very funny. Mary J was kind enough to buy the unit community cigarettes for those who didn't have any. The facility is very clean. There was enough activities and games to keep your mind busy. Over all it was a good experience.

This was a horrible experience for my adult son in crisis! As a former therapist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital and mental health tech staff member, I am disappointed in this facility. It is only bc all of the ERs were full to capacity that we came here. The communication with unit staff and unit nurses was beyond professional. On the rare chance that the phone was working, sometimes I was asked for the pin# and sometimes I was not. My son’s coat was lost, the phones don’t work, staff was unknowledgeable, given conflicting information by the charge nurse. The medication was a complete disaster and discharging nurse could not tell me anything about the meds, but she handed them to me. My son left with a bad cold that he did not come in with and did not get a COVID test. Imagine my frustration when I get a call today from billing about the member portion of the bill from such a horrible experience. I pray that my son will never have to be hospitalized for a psychiatric crisis again, but if so, it will not be at Sun Behavioral Hospital!

The doctor in this facility should be fired and some of the staff with her. I am so disappointed for my friend that was sent here. They treated my friend terrible by threats and lies then actually telling my friend they were making them stay because my friend has insurance! My friend had important appointments for medical tests and Rayani told my friend that it wasn't her problem and the tests were not important. I filed a complaint with the medical boar.d. I tried calling the number whor help when you leave a bad review and it goes to Sun Behavoiral not the owner

My niece was admitted last week and was released today. I am ashamed that this is the place that she was taken. The stories she told made me literally sick to my stomach. Just the short 15 minutes I had in contact with the staff I knew immediately this was not a good place. The staff here is rude and you can definitely tell there is no care for their patients. A few of the things that really stood out in conversation was threatening to being jumped by other patients, no supervision at nights, roaming free during those hours, food was horrid, the one hour phone time turned into over 2 hours because a staff member “forgot” to take the phones back. Lots of mistreatment towards other patients from the staff. To me this kind of faculty should be well managed and have caring and genuine staff. This is NOT the place to take children and teens. To me they are worse off when they get released then when they go in…SHAME ON YOU SUN BEHAVIOR!

This place is a joke. Our daughter was a patient for 5 days. employees are unprofessional. seems like they do the bear minimum for their patients. They are mean to the kids. Not one person called us with updates. We would call several times a day and never received a call back! only gave it one star because it was clean.

They lost my sons clothes the first day he was there. Some staff sound sweet but some are very rude. They are terrible with communication!!!! They took my son off meds he was on and started on another without anyone consent. Also discharged him on day 5 when he admitted he was not ready. What a joke!

The adolescent ward did a wonderful job with my child, but now that my child is 18 they are proving to be extremely sub-par. They have ignored our healthcare power of attorney & even tried to tell us it was invalid because they couldn't see the embossed notary stamp on a photo copy that had very obviously been legally notarized. I've not gotten a call back from anyone at the hospital at all regarding my child. This will be the last time we use this facility. They were wonderful...until my child turned 18. They gave her a wrong diagnosis (tried to change a diagnosis that was already proven) & the wrong meds last time because they refused to speak to me & did it again this time as well even after I sent them additional copies of the HCPOA clearly showing the notary stamp.

DO NOT GO HERE. I went in for suicidal ideation and got absolutely nothing from this program. The staff is unwelcoming from the start, and trust me it gets no better past the intake. I was a burden to them the moment I stepped into that building. I only felt heard by one nurse, the rest of the staff is only there for the paycheck. Multiple times I asked for someone to talk to, and never received it. Sat sobbing in the group room, not a single person asked if I was okay. The only meaningful interaction was interrupted when another staff member said “I need to take a break”, causing the nurse I was talking to to have to leave the conversation (after quite literally 30 seconds of talking with me). There is no one-on-one therapy, and the groups are either coloring, games, or someone reading a site from their phone about goal setting. I never once talked to a therapist, as when I asked for one they were always “busy”. I met with the psychiatrist over the weekend, of which she prescribed me a medication that causes seizures with active eating disorders (unbeknownst to me). I met with a different psychiatrist (weekday psychiatrist), and he took me off of it immediately. Ended up not changing any of my medications, which had been a primary reason for going into inpatient treatment. The safety is also concerning. My last night there another patient entered my room while I was sleeping and made inappropriate comments. I felt so afraid that whole night knowing staff was no where to be found when this incident happened. On a less serious note but equally disturbing, this place was dirty and very little sunlight. Food was awful. Very unaccommodating if you have an eating disorder as well.

I visited this facility on December 31st through January 4th 2023. I want to give recognition to Daniel who was a great professional nurse. He took good care not only with me but other patients as well. I was on the 2nd floor unit. I also want to thank the whole staff during the days i was in there for giving me the strength and overcoming my mental health in such astonishing professionalism.

I stayed here for about a week and this place is very good at helping with your needs for your mental health. The nurse lauren is my personal favorite. She's a complete sweetheart and cares about everyone. I definitely recommend this place for anyone going through a hard time. Its more than ok to ask for help and this place is a good place to get help.

I have nothing but respect for you bro. Remain humble, and take them Converses off and put the pair of J's on already. He minds his own business but is nice and kind to the ones that are nice and kind to him. He's the only one who actually does what his job entails. Don't speak unless spoken to but will always is willing to say Hi and have good day. We are from the sample place and he let me know that right after he walked me out to my Father waiting for me in the waiting room to pick me up Remain humble and pray B4 you eat KEVIN. 🙏🏻🥸

It was an okay stay only because of the pysch doctor Michelle and therapist Simone they were both very kind women and Michelle was the first psych who I feel actually took me serious and got me on the right medication for my bipolar 1 disorder and post traumatic stress disorder I’m feeling the best I have in awhile I was there in July and since then I have been able to stay sober. My only complaint is many of the nurses were very very rude almost all of them were Haitians who I don’t even know if they know what they’re doing seems as if they’re just there for the pay I was dealing with a physical illness while there and was not always treated nicely by many of the nurses. There were a few very nice techs tho that made up for it. One being a woman named Charlene I would love to speak to her again she goes above and beyond and really helped me through my time there she could tell I was going through a rough time mentally and I’m honestly just glad I had her to talk too.

The staff is the heart of this hospital, Joshua, Natalie, latanya, Jan, Tessa, Suzanne, and so many others made me feel seen, heard and safe. I would recommend this hospital to anybody struggling with depression.

Staff really don’t care about you or anything outside of their “job”. 10/10 don’t recommend. They give you medication and feed you. They don’t care to sit and actually hear what’s going on with you mentally. It’s basically a stay away from home but with medication to stop you from feeling depressed. Guess that’s all we needed right? Wrong.

I went here back in 2021 and I had an interesting experience. There was one staff member that truly made me feel cared for and that he actually understood things. ALL of the other stuff was very cold and rude. They do not take women's safety very seriously they had everyone take meds but didn't make sure you actually took them . But I was 19 when I went there I'm 22 now an feel more empty then ever

Absolutely deplorable conditions to have children in. They will sit there and act like it’s an issue for you to come and visit your loved one. They will THREATEN your child and they will threaten YOU for asking to speak with the child once you’ve raised concerns about the treatment. They will threaten to keep them longer just because. This is not a good place for ANYONE. This place needs shut down IMMEDIATELY.

I have attended SUN Behavioral for both Inpatient and Outpatient services, and each experience was quite good, and made exemplary by a few key staff members. I’ll specifically complement a few here, only using an initial/abbreviation so as to protect and respect privacy. LT and NZ work in inpatient, and were exceedingly kind and understanding. R oversees the IOP and PHP programs and is doing very well, it seems. Finally, my group therapist, LE, who has an especially fine-tuned ability to switch registers from playful and lax when developing rapport, and deep and attentive when discussing serious matters. She made the experience meaningful and fulfilling, while also enjoyable.
