The falls colors were great at Blendon Woods Metro Park today. The trails, although covered by leaves were in good shape and at the end of my hike the sun came out.

This is one of the famous park in Columbus area. This one is located next to intersection of I-71 and 161. This is very big park with different sections. One of my favorite is the natural playground. I have added most of the pics kids love this one as this is made up of all words and natural trail. You will have enough area for barbecue and your picnic. Each area has its own parking and shelters. Most of the area has kids playground as well. Best for one day outing in spring/summer/ fall. Lot of trees and trails so you will love it.

Love the disc golf course at the park and I always see a different animal everytime I go. Highly recommend going. You might even run into me with how often our group plays this course.

My favorite metro park! We love the natural play ground. It's fun for all ages. We have also enjoyed the nature center and the bird watching window. It was a great educational activity for my children. The nature center also had bathrooms, which is so nice in the winter.

Beautiful park! The trails are well kept, there is plenty of nature to be seen if you look for it, there is a natural playground for the kiddos, plenty of open space for casual sports or picnics and even a number of shelters that can be reserved. I am making this park a regular destination.

We went on the Lantern Hike. The rangers and volunteers were wonderful. I don't know how they arranged for the light snow, but it was lovely. They ran 2 options, one for short legged people, and one for the more serious hikers.

One the best park in Columbus city area, nice trails and well maintained. Lake Thoreau observation decks are nice to watch wildlife and they do have wild turkeys and they live near one of the Observation deck. So dont miss visiting lake thoreau observation deck. Added lots of pics, one thing to remember there are plenty of parking lots and make sure you remember where you parked, mark it on your google map as you will easily get lost in park if you are new. I met couple of people who lost their way to parking and we cannot guide them as we dont know which parking they parked so be mindful.

A nice little metro park with shelters, clean trails, clean restrooms, and playground equipment. I stopped in the afternoon between appointments and was able to walk a few trails. The weekday afternoon in July was very busy. There were a lot of little kids.

We recently moved and this was my first time visiting. It was very clean and the signs were visible and easy to follow. That means a lot when you’re new to the trails. There was plenty of trash cans so I think that helped keep the trash off the trails. They had maps available as well. Parking was plentiful. They had a drinking fountain for humans and for dogs! It was a beautiful day for a hike and a beautiful location.

The Natural Play Area was a fun and unique outdoor adventure for our family. It was neat to see all the surprises as we wound along the trail. The zip line was great (ages 5 and up, max rider weight 350 lb). I hopped on the giant teeter-totter opposite my 8-year-old. Wear your walking shoes - my sandals didn't cut it. The kids also enjoyed the other playgrounds and swings.

Great quick getaway from the busy world. Calming trails, not terribly crowded and a calming environment. You can expect to see woodland creatures, waterfowl and more on your visit depending on the area of the park you'll visit.

The new play structure is really nice for bigger kids too! Mine are 8 and 10 yrs old. The natural play area is a fun place to explore. We ended up taking the less traveled path and waded through the winding creek until we found another dirt path. The creek is really shallow and my kids loved it! We were a little bummed that they removed the zipline.

This is one of my favorite metro parks. The nature center is back open, with restroom access. There are several bird and animal watching lookouts--one at the nature center, two more lookouts on the trails looking over the lake and wetland habitats, with free distance viewers. The turtles and butterfly tent was outside. Today we saw plenty of wildlife--a leucistic squirrel, chipmunks, a baby rabbit, dragonflies, butterflies, and a great blue heuron. The natural play area offers a lot of great opportunities for kids to climb and swing, including a zip line. There's plenty of tables and shelters and smaller conventional playground and swing sets. There's a game room in the nature center with puzzles, oversized Jenga, various live critters in terraria, and assorted nature manipulatives.

Brendon is beautiful right now. I walked along the story trail to the two bird blinds and there was gorgeous color everywhere. I love Autumn in Ohio and Blendon Woods is a great place to experience it with your whole family.

Nice recreation area. Multiple trails, clean facilities and lots of parking space. Even met some wild turkeys in the forest. Will definitely come back to this one.

Much cleaner trail than most. They offered many places for waste disposal. The goldenrod trail is the only one that’s dog friendly but it is 1.25 miles so it will give your pups a good walk. It is not paved so it can be a bit uneven and muddy in places but all in all a nice peaceful trail .

  • 2/5 Rebekah J. 9 months ago on Google
For a "dog friendly park," it's NOT so dog friendly.... most trails said, "Sorry... no dogs" o found one that was literally a mile or so long... boring, and barely wooded, it was mostly open like a round circle in a field. I'm going to try again in a different location, but if you're bringing your pup, I'd sure stopping at the main office and get suggestions as to decent trails that allow your dog.

I was fortunate enough today to work at the park. Rangers were friendly.

  • 5/5 Troy S. 2 years ago on Google
The Natural Play area is worth it. My 3 & 6 yr old loved it. They have a swing Zipline, wood teeter totter, some climbing nets, balance beam. I like that involves walking around in the woods. Just don't go on a muddy day like I did.

My father in law passed and my mother in law requested a Buckeye tree be donated to the park in his memory. We were able to rent THE pavilion where this tree is planted for the celebration of life event. There were plenty of other pavilions obviously rented out for the same purpose as we drove in. Having the rented area was really great for the privacy of the event. The area was immaculate when we came and a Ranger checked in with us shortly after arriving to go over a few things. There were enough tables for the 70ish family members we had present. The shelter over most of the tables was beautiful and even had lights inside it that could be turned on. We accidentally left a pair of flip flops behind and called the Ranger station. They said they had found them and were holding onto them through the evening before putting them in the lost and found. We were able to drive right back and pick them up from the Ranger. Some really great customer service and we're going to look into having another tree donated and planted soon. 💗 My father in law's tree is just pending it's memorial plaque.

Beautiful trails, rolling land with forest and streams. Wild turkey are seen from time to time.

Fun little walk in the heat today. Now I will say that I haven't been all over Columbus, but I haven't been so immersed in a forest here as I was today. Not too much walking distance, but the forest was alive with cicada love songs. Wonderful.

Driving into Blendon woods during fall should be on everyone's to do list! One of the best parks in Columbus, with a bunch of different things to do and areas to explore.

  • 4/5 Anne M. 9 months ago on Google
Very nice metro park. Parking was easy. They had maps of trails with difficulty rating. Noted if it was a paved or unpaved trail. I appreciated the designated trails for dogs. We stopped by the Nature center. The center had a water bottle filling station, bathroom, great info, library of different types of birds and a bird watching area. Highly recommend if you are looking for an easy walking park. Check it out.

One of the Columbus area Metro Parks, Blendon Woods is conveniently located near I-270 and state route 161. The main entrance on E Dublin-Granville Road ushers visitors into the park with a gorgeous hilly drive that leads to the nature center at the southeastern end. From this parking lot, you can access several of the trailheads. The walking trails here are short and generally flat, so not difficult in terms of elevation change, which makes it very family friendly. Some of the trails connect to others. The longest trail is Sugarbush, which is "unimproved" - meaning a natural surface that can be quite muddy if it has recently rained. The Lake Trail leads to a pair of observation shelters that overlook Thoreau Lake. There are playgrounds and restrooms throughout the park, picnic shelters, and a disc golf course, if that's your thing. Something for everyone!

Of all the metro parks, this one surprised me the most! The wildlife as it got near dusk was astonishing. A barn owl flew very close to us and landed on a branch maybe 10’ up and enjoyed an evening snack. A few miles of trails that loop around and interconnect makes this a place to go on a nice easy to moderate hike or run.

  • 5/5 Guillermo T. 1 year ago on Google
Great day to hike at Blendon Woods! Did the Sugarbush trail and caught a glimpse of an owl along the way. I love how quiet and peaceful the park is compared to others.

My wife wanted to drive around so she could play Pokemon and Ingress. The Park has smooth winding parkways and also features a Disc golf course. I had played disc golf in the past and may start up again so I also enjoyed the drive.

  • 5/5 Jeff B. 9 months ago on Google
Beautiful, peaceful setting. It's amazing how quiet it is while there is so much development going on all around, not to mention the traffic on I-270. Great for hiking or picnicking. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Beth B. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best parks in Columbus! There are a lot of picnic benches and shelters that are available as first-come, first-served for those looking for a place to host a casual gathering. Very nice trails, both paved and unpaved. The biggest downside is that dogs aren't permitted on most of the trails, but they are allowed in the picnic areas (on leashes, and please pick up after them).

  • 5/5 Conner F. 11 months ago on Google
We live near Blendon so we visit pretty often and it's always so nice. It has several different trails to choose from so there is plenty of variety. Be sure to stop by the nature center and let everyone know what wildlife you saw while hiking!

Did the full 18-hole disc golf course. Pretty fun course with a good variation in lengths for each hole. Although, many of the holes seem to cater to left-handed individuals. Overall, a fairly challenging (especially with dense foliage), yet enjoyable course! P.S. There is a water fountain on hole 9, which was nice on a hot day!

I cannot believe I've been in Columbus for 20 years and never knew about this hidden gem! I grew up in West Virginia and I've never seen a place that reminded me of home like this around here. Absolutely beautiful well-maintained trails and scenic views everywhere you look. I even played the disc golf course while I was there and it was nice, too! No matter where you are in the park, make sure you stay in the areas where you are supposed to be... both for conservation and for your own good since there is poison ivy everywhere off the trails!

  • 5/5 Miki C K. 3 years ago on Google
