Amazing collection of Catholic artifacts and relics. This museum is located at what used to be the very first ever Wendy's. They recently moved to the current location and so far only has 10 percent of what was in the old location. Nevertheless, it was interesting to see really old stuff. The whole place can be toured in less than 30 minutes. It was well worth the visit in dowtown Columbus.

I went here with minimal expectations, but was so pleasantly surprised. I went on a Friday and their art restorer just happened to be there and graciously answered a ton of questions. The guide gave us an expansive tour of the small facility, but was kind, passionate, patient, and very knowledgeable. You could tell she really loved her work and was so passionate about the museum. The museum is a temporary space before they move into a larger space to dissolution their entire collection (I can't wait to revisit!). As a non-Catholic, the museum was so interesting and the guide really patiently explained things. I highly recommend the museum to ANYONE especially nerds of history, religion, or Catholicism.

Hands down the best museum I have ever been to! Fiancé and I went to visit while we were on vacation and ended up being the only people there. Theresa gave us a tour of the different pieces on display and the history that came with them. She also let us interact with some of the items on display (manuscript replicas). We also bought some hand-made rosaries as our littler reminder of our visit. Learning how to pray it this weekend! Would recommend bringing all of your friends, even those without a Catholic background.

My mother was visiting from out of town and I thought she might enjoy these Catholic artifacts. We were surprised at how interesting the whole place was even for non-religious folks! Part history, part art museum. The current location (inside the Catholic Foundation) is smaller than the previous site, but they have plans to move to someplace where their full collection can be displayed. Take advantage of the guided tour, they have a lot of insights to share. They are super friendly and let you photograph anything you want and there are even some things you can touch. If you're lucky they might play the organ for you. As of March 2022 they have an art restorer who comes in mid-day on Fridays to fix some of their paintings who you can chat with and ask questions to. Due to the limited display space an hour should be sufficient to see everything, until they move!

An absolute, rare jewel of Catholicism in Columbus, Ohio. This former Catholic elementary school is a soup kitchen and a Catholic museum with many incredibly pieces of Catholic art, from 400 years old chasubles from the Holy Land, to amazing full functioning gigantic organs that once where in Cathedrals. Absolutely not to miss.

As a cradle Catholic, this place is amazing! It was supposed to be open but all the staff had Covid. Fortunately the organ tuners were there and they let us in. We did a self tour. Please tell the guy who recommended St. Mary's and the German restaurant that he was spot on!! We thoroughly enjoyed both places!!

Relatively small, basically three rooms, but packed with items. The tour guide made it fantastic! Very knowledgeable about the artifacts, and the history and meaning behind them. Definitely one of Columbus is hidden gems!

Entry access hours: 1000-1230 M_F, but one can visit beyond the 1230 close. Not only artifacts from area churches that have closed - windows, statues, alters, paintings - but also ancient books such as alter missals, bibles - even a Gutenberg - as far back as the 1200s. Definitely worth the two+ hours to tour. Get there early!

The reviews about this place are true--it really is a hidden gem. Got a nearly 2-hour tour from the director and it only felt like half an hour. He was very knowledgeable, informative, and easy to talk to. Even after spending so long there, we could easily go back and spend several more hours looking at all the stuff there. There are not only religious items but also items of great historical significance. This photo is of an amethyst owned by Mary, Queen of Scots. Really stunning to see in person. The museum is planning to temporarily close sometime within the next year (as I understand it) for renovations and the addition of a whole new building. Rumor has it our beloved Santa Maria--now gone from the riverfront--will be finding a new home there. You really cannot do any better for free on an afternoon. (One caveat: the building is not ADA compliant. My husband and I were thankfully allowed to bring in our son's stroller, but we had to carry it up and down the stairs ourselves. It's just a regular stroller, so we didn't have any trouble, but it could be an issue for those with mobility issues. I'm sure that the new facilities will be compliant, so some may wish to wait until then to visit.)

Amazing amassing of religious artifacts from around the world collected and displayed here!!!! Currently, the Vatican created from Legos is on display, as well as other miniature models of other materials... well worth the visit. Christmas season finds HUNDREDS of Nativities of all sizes imaginable displayed throughout the museum. Travel back in time to when all nuns wore habits, view Chaplain attire and items to serve soldiers during wars (they laid THEIR lives down, too), also view affects from African regions as well as the Jesus/ Jewish heritage.

Catholic museum... Displays contain Catholic items, a Jewish display and items from other religions...Was there at Christmas time... they had 500 nativity scenes set up... Father Lutz is very knowledgeable about All the items in the museum, but especially the pipe organs.

We greatly enjoyed the guided tour and the chance to deepen our faith by visiting The Museum of Catholic History and Art. My wife and I highly suggest it as a point of interest. You can spend anywhere from 1-3 hours there.

Wonderful display of nativity scenes from all over the world! The 4000 piece Fontanini display of the whole life of Jesus was spectacular!! Theresa was a knowledgeable tour guide. Thank you for a nice afternoon!

A hidden gem located on the West Side of our City. I so enjoyed my visit. I loved listening to one of the young host play Christmas carols on the pipe organ. Please try for a visit while the Nativity exhibit is there and I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I did.

What a hidden gem in Columbus. Regardless if you’re a devout catholic or even religious at all, there are so many incredible exhibits in this place. Thank goodness we actually toured with the docent that offered a guided tour. He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer even the most obscure questions. He was such a wealth of knowledge. Kudos folks, for the best hidden gem, of a museum, in Columbus! Thank you.

Very nice and inviting atmosphere. Staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly and answered all of our questions without delay. Overall a very enjoyable and informative experience. Such stunning relics, all preserved in an organized fashion. Not a catholic but came here to learn more about a special interest of mine. Definitely recommend!

Stunning! You must take the tour to truly appreciate the history of the artifacts, but to be in the presence of so many items from the holy land... There really are no words to describe how inspiring these exhibits are. Regardless of your faith, this museum is a must on the list of things to see in Columbus Ohio

This is a fantastic place to explore and appreciate the fullness of the Catholic Faith. Rooms upon rooms dedicated to the Glory of God and His Church throughout the ages. Amazing staff and amazing time. Highly recommended for all ages especially kids!

Beautiful artifacts from the Holy Family diocese. It also serves as the Soup kitchen for the homeless. At the lower part of the museum. It was also in the early 70s and 80s the largest bingo hall. In 1890s through 1945? It was a catholic school.

This place was great u don't have 2 be religious to like this place. I will say they run a soup kitchen downstairs so the place attracts not so desirable. However u do have to ring the doorbell to be let in. Our guy can't remember his name but he was very knowledgeable and he played the organ for us. It really is worth a visit.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in Columbus. I took my sister and her family and everyone enjoyed it.

  • 5/5 Katrina J. 4 years ago on Google
My husband and I visited the Jubilee Museum for the first time recently, and we cannot believe we've waited so long! We've both lived in and near Columbus for most of our lives and had no idea the hidden gem downtown! The collection of artifacts is diverse and so interesting. The tour guide knew so much about just about everything he showed us, and we could tell he had a true interest in the contents of the museum and the history. Best of all, for those with children, much of the place seems to be free of the usual "hands-off" approach of most museums and collections. Within reason, we could handle many artifacts and were invited to do so several times with old books. The Jubilee Museum is certainly a beautiful and wondrous place to stop in, regardless of one's religious leaning.
