I was approached by a staff member and handed a mask and was told that per the manage my mask was no good and I could wear theirs or leave. Per their Instagram post, the store only requires a "Face covering" to shop in the store. I didn't know that I was going to waste my time and gas traveling to this store to be singled out and discriminated against by my "Face covering". Then insulted by being handed a mask that by someone who probably had dirty hands, could have covid, and or probably has handled his phone (Science has found that cell phones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats) fish/fish water, or object / surface that someone else has recently touched that could have covid. I also do not know how many other people may or may not have come in contact with the mask that I was handed. What I did notice while I was there was they did not enforce the "Maintaining 6' social distancing at all times", "Groups no larger than 4 people", and "Maximum of 25 guests total in the store" that is also posted on the same Instagram post. "Maintaining 6' social distancing at all times". The isles are so small that that people not paying attention bump into you. I even had a staff member not even say "excuse me" or "can I get to where your standing". Instead just kept walking towards me as I back pedaled out of his way. "Groups no larger than 4 people" Their own staff doesn't even follow this as you could clearly see groups of 5 to 6 young guys group together and to chat about something for a few moments before disbursing. This happened more then once and I remember pre covid this never happened. Store members always at least walked around and asked if you needed help or if you had questions. I felt like I was interrupting the employees class reunion just to get some help. The customer service has declined severely. "Maximum of 25 guests total in the store" To be honest here, I didn't exactly count the total amount of people. But I was there to get a filter, rock, driftwood, and a lot of fish and did gauge the population of these areas and decide to go first that had the least amount of people. Over all if I had to guess, I would have put money that there were more than 25 guests in the store when I entered. Maybe they have a system to ensure this count, but I didn't see anyone keeping count of the total guests like you see at other establishments at the front of the store. I was offered curbside pick-up orders as I was was being kicked out of the store. I thought this was laughable as there is a store website, but no online store where you can see all their products, descriptions, quantity or prices. Are you supposed to tell them that you want a specific type of drift word or rock and hope that what they bring out is what you were looking for? I know before I was kicked out I went through ever piece of wood till I found the one I wanted. As I spent the time to look at each piece I was wondering how many people that had coivd also touched these items before me because didn't see anyone cleaning anything in the whole store. Just the group of employees huddled up together telling each other jokes or something. In conclusion, I was within full compliance of having a "Face covering" that this establishment advertised. I will not return.

Great store and great layout! Nice selection of over priced fish! I was in the store for over 30 minutes and the lady "Manager (on duty)" walked by multiple times. I was willing to spend hundreds on new tank upgrades to my 180 gallon. Didn't spend a dime and will not be back. Staff was too busy on their phones and when I talked to the manager about the lack of assistance in the store her response was "cool"!!! I am a manager... of a pet retail store.... I am appalled!!!!

They require a mask to be in the store. Lost my business. I went a few months later with friends needing a tank. Staff and management was very RUDE again to myself and my friends! Belittling and talking down to my friends. Management demanded I cover my nose with a mask (i have copd so it is hard to breath) but was fine walking down an isle and grazing my shoulder and NOT social distancing. Lucky for them the lowest rating I can give is 1 star.

For the most part this is a good place to get fish in the Columbus area. I have been here multiple times and probably will continue coming here. However, expect confrontation by staff when you ask a staffer to get you fish if your current setup isn't up to their expectations...such as with male/female ratios for fish who ultimately will be my turtle's food. Some of the staff seem to think their opinion matters to customers and even go so far as to say "I cannot in good faith sell you this fish" because there are less females than males to her liking. I've never before, until going to this store, had to tell a staffer (or really anyone for that matter) that "I didn't ask for your opinion."

Layout is terrific. Very organized! Sadly this location didn't have the type of fish we were looking for. As soon as we got to the spot to wait for assistance, a sales person was assisting us. Friendly and knowledgeable about what is in stock.

The selection of fish and fish accessories is extensive and well displayed. Have purchased some fish and a few things for my aquarium from here. Everything is extremely expensive, and I find it to be generally overpriced. I usually feel bad for their fishes as they are kept extremely overcrowded in their tanks. One is often asked when purchasing whether your home tank is an adequate size, meanwhile the fish you are purchasing are crammed in as many as possible. Last time I was there I had a poor experience. Many of the employees didn’t seem like they wanted to be there and weren’t very helpful. I really wish they had less fish and took care of them better. In the past they also had a full size stingray kept in a tank where it hardly had room to turn around and swim. Bad vibes.

This place is amazing! We made our first visit today, and were amazed. They have anything and everything related to aquariums. Their displays are so incredible that we will be returning just to look at everything. We came here to look for snails for a goldfish tank. The staff was impressively knowledgeable. We left happy, with some new additions for our tank. If you like fish and other aquarium dwellers, you owe yourself a visit.

Sold me a fish that died on a 15 minute car ride home . Then gave me the run around to get $6.00 refunded. Took 3 visits to get my money back. They also tried to sneak the “store credit” on me when they told me I could get a full refund with a receipt. Management was very rude. Do not recommend this place to anyone.

Young college students trying to act like the Mask Police. Prices are out of this world high. RUDE STAFF and like others have said just a lack of respect for the customer. This should have been one of the thousands of businesses that went out business! I'll never go back and I will tell everyone not to shop there on the fish forums.

So impressed with the Aquarium!!! Great for families and I loved that there was so much at Toddler height! Fantastic for kids of all ages with tunnels and the chance to feel shark eggs and a starfish! So much information! We arrived 10 minutes before opening and parked right out the front (free for 3 hours). Walking around with 2.5 year olds took us just over an hour. Lots of spots along the way for children to sit and have a snack or drink.

I'll say this. They have a wide variety of products and animals available, what's more seem to have knowledgeable staff. They're deficits lie in customer service and general attitude. Every time I go in there it's like pulling teeth to get someone to either help me get a fish or answer a basic.I suspect this is because I'm majority of them just don't want to interact with customers. I'll find myself approaching someone for help after about a 30-minute wait only to have that employee actively avoid me and begin walking in the other direction only to come back around and begin chatting with other employees. It seems I'm not the only person who's experienced this. The good thing is it's really easy to solve.Just find more sociable employees or have some sort of "come to your senses" meeting with the folks you have because this is clearly not working. I get that any place can get busy and people get tired, but that just comes with every job. When a customer asks for help purchasing something the obvious answer should be "Yes,of course" or "I'm sorry I'm doing something crucial but let me find someone who can help you." The wrong answer will always be "No.Not right now". It really is a shame because the products, plants and animals are all amazing....... Just not the crummy employees.

I was so impressed with this store. Employees came up to me about questions I had about specific fish, recommendations, plants and what else might be great for my 460g. Great selection with special items too! Promise to make the 3hr trip again. Thank you...

The saying, "You get what you pay for," is certainly true. My first real job out of college was working for Aquarium Adventure, back in 1999. I worked there 5 years. As I've grown up and worked in several different industries and careers, I have come to deeply respect the owners Bill and Steve. They have worked miracles keeping such a unique, niche store running successfully for over 20 years. I was young, dumb, and short tempered when I worked for them and they were so much more patient and generous with me than I deserved. At the time, I had absolutely no idea how difficult it was to run a business, and I'm sure that I made it harder for them. Now that I'm older, I cannot express how impressed I am with their ability to juggle all of the things they have to, and still maintain their integrity. These guys genuinely care about giving people healthy, high-quality pets, and doing this while maintaining a professional and exceptionally attractive store is a balancing act not many people can do. I've been a customer since 1999, and I don't see that changing. Bill, Steve, I hope you guys are doing well.

I always enjoy going to aquarium adventure, the staff are always kind and the one time I had a bad experience the manager quickly fixed it after I contacted him. Both my tanks are 100% fish from this store and they all are doing well and many have lasted for a year+! I guess it’s expensive but it’s a nice shop and I don’t exactly expect living beings to be cheap in the first place.

Nice selection and clean store. Prices are high and Customer service is poor. Waited more than 45 min to get help buying some fish. Still no service. Several staff around me and ignored me asking for help. Guy at the desk on his phone for 30 min . 2.5 stars I wonder if I will be able to buy my fish or not. 7 min I'm leaving

I used to enjoy going to this store, but on my last visit I went there looking for troubleshooting help with my tank. I started off talking with one staff member (I assume a manager) who passed me to another, telling him that my equipment was essentially "a cheaper knockoff version" of their equipment directly in front of me. I've never found a retail employee that is so brazenly insulting for no reason. People take great pride in their fish tanks. Maybe don't make them feel bad for not being able to afford the absurdly high prices found at this store.

While the ambiance of the store was calm and intriguing the employees were generally unhelpful and seemed uninterested. Employees were not enforcing social distancing or mask policies at all. Also purchased tank-bottom rock which was not only unwashed, but after 30+minutes of washing is STILL producing clouds in the water. The signage around the rocks when we purchased seemed to imply the rocks were clean or required minimal rinsing, as did the instructions on the back of the bag. Had we known we would be spending so much time and effort to clean these expensive rocks, we would have bought them wholesale at a home improvement store for a fraction the cost. We were customers for the past several years, but now we will be looking elsewhere.

Just stopped into this store planning to get a new tank, decor, and plenty of fish. I came in with my service dog in training (who was vested in a vest with a logo and had vaccination records) and was approached within a minute of entering the store by a VERY RUDE manager/owner who hastily approached me and declared “you have to get that dog out of here.” When I responded that he is a service dog in training, he replied “and what disability does he provide a service for.” When my dog approached him, tail wagging and excitedly dancing he yelled “service dogs don’t jump, you have to leave now!” And followed us out without apologizing. I cannot believe a MANAGER would have the audacity to ask what disability a person has, which is clearly a violation of ADA regulations. Will NEVER be returning here, as the owner of a PET store seems to have a problem not just with service animals, but with people who have documented disabilities as well. Disgusting.

Great place to visit, even for adults. The signs accompanying the fish tanks are full of really useful information. There is starfish touching on the upper deck and a cool tank with an access port in the middle, very cool for kids. The underwater walkway can spin you out as stingrays and sharks swim overhead, the concavity of the arch makes it feel as if you could touch them. I initially thought the entrance fee was a bit steep but now I definitely think it is worth it, especially as it is a whole day ticket. The usual hourly shows are on, I watched the shark presentation and it was ok. Gift shop at the end has the normal assortment of clothes and gifts, prices are pretty good. On the whole, definitely worth the ticket price!

A true iconic must see attraction in Cairns. Went on a really busy day with kids running around and screaming which was indication of the excitement of the attraction but it would be a very relaxing submersible underwater experience during the week. The aquariums are a wonder and the exhibits are world class. So many animals to see and even touch. Lots of presentations through the day so no matter what time you go there will be something to see. Just beautiful and something to cherish like the Great Barrier Reef.

Convenient location but does not have dedicated parking slots. Helpful staff and you can book your tickets online as well. Usually you can cover whole place within an hour and a half. Does not have a huge collection but can be satisfied with fishes and other species they look after. They offer multiple entrance for the same day with a single ticket.

The Twilight Tour and Dundee’s Dinner was an awesome way to spend the evening. We were fortunate to have Alex as our marine biologist guide, who guided us through the various ecosystems from the estuaries to the reef. Her extensive knowledge and warm personality meant that everyone enjoyed the evening as we learnt about the natural diversity of these freshwater and marine environments. Thanks so much!!! Dinner at Dundee’s was also very nice.

Great Aquarium if your staying in Cairns. Short walk from the ferry terminal area. Highly recommend the nocturnal tour + dinner, it's a guided small group tour after the aquarium closes to the public. Make a reservation online via the website. The tour only hits the highlights as it's less than 2 hours, but I think well worth the cost.

The store owner corrected me about my mask not totally covering my noise and then lectured the employee waiting on me right in front of me about the employee needing to watch out for people like me! His was disrespectful to the employee and to me! I work in the medical field around covid five days a week ever since it’s beginning! His fear was irrational

Pros: Staff was incredibly helpful I can’t remember the guys name that helped me but he was great and very knowledgeable. Cons: Trying to understand why they don’t have a public restroom? Why every fish is marked up 30-50% on average? Why 48 hours is the end of if your fish dies that you get a refund towards another fish. Online buying fish I’m getting 7 days but you provide 48 hours? Do you not believe in the health of your fish enough to give a consumer a few extra day to make sure the fish doesn’t die? Have bought emerald cories 5 and one week later only one is alive all others legit woke up and we’re dead. Water parameters were great and the tank was up and running well established. Why plants are marked up 30-50% just for 50% of them once planted never take root and spending the money for your fluval soil, root tabs, and a host of other things recommended just for them all to die. This is certainly a store that cares more for scalping the consumer rather then providing a fair balance of making profit and also allowing the consumer to feel like they made a good decision and did not sign there check over for 50% of everything to die or not work.

I love this store. It is my local fish store. I just moved to the area and I Googled and found Aquarium Adventure! They have a wide selection of fresh and saltwater aqua life and beautiful display tanks. I hate it when pet store employees ask me what size tank I have, 😒 none of your beeswax!!! It was refreshing to purchase fish and NOT be asked that question. I was asked the last visit. 😶 But this is Def a one off and will NOT be held against the whole store. I will be back again and again.

Went in to get some plants and fish for a container pond! The staff was SUPER helpful. Pointed out some of the heartier plants (did recommend we take them inside during the winter to be safe since our container is not huge) and recommended we monitor water temperatures on hotter days before we put any fish in. So far we're super happy with the plants and depending we may be back for a fish! (Or just more plants!)

I visited this store after discovering that the store sold axolotls and filters for aquariums. The axolotls were, unfortunately, not being properly cared for. One of the axolotls had no gills nor gill fluff and had an arm double the length of what an axolotl arm should be. Furthermore, there was no lid on the axolotl aquarium, meaning the axolotls could jump out of the aquarium and anybody could touch the axolotls and damage the axolotls’ slime coats.

This is a larger store that has a great selection of aquariums and livestock. I usually try to stop by and get something and check it out when I am in the Columbus area as we don't have any nice fish stores in Toledo. I would've give it five stars but they had their bathroom closed for some reason. This is very disappointing. Fish only stores are a destination for niche hobbyists. A clean public bathroom is a must.

Starting up a new fish tank, I knew what type of fish I wanted but had a hard time finding them around town at the typical pet stores. The fish were either sold out or looked sickly. An employee from one of these said "pet stores" told us about Aquarium Adventures. The store is beautiful, aquarium setups are surprisingly affordable, fish varieties are endless and are thriving. I found the fish i was looking for. The only thing I hate is that I didn't find this store sooner. My tank was half full with "I guess that will do" type fish, now I had so many types to choose from 😂 Tank #2 is in the very near future

Would like to make this a negative star. They have plenty of employees talking to each other, but none of them seems to want to help customers. I was there 20 minutes no one asked if I needed help. I asked a guy for help he said he would be right back. Guess right back means go stand in the corner with 4 other employees and talk. No worries I can spend my money other places where it is valued.

I was "greeted" by a very rude manager or owner upon entering, then followed around like they thought I was going to steal something. All the tanks were near empty and the selection stunk. There was 1 dead fish in the main display tank too. I was going to buy some cleanup crew but didn't want to pay $15 for a emeral crab or $10 for hermits. This place is over priced and over hyped. Also has extremely poor service. I would give it 0/5 if I could.

I went to the store to buy a FX6 canister filter. Although not as great displays like we had at the Dublin location, the ambiance of the store is still calm and intriguing. They have a huge selection of both fresh water and salt water collection and everything you need for an aquarium. The employees showed no interest in assisting me unless I asked for it. Since I’m an experienced aquarist it was ok but anyone new would be disappointed. I can understand the covid situation and possibly temp help hired over there.. I picked up a Fx4 instead of FX6 thinking it may not fit under my tank later the exchange process for a FX6 was good even thought it was over 2 weeks. Their 2 week window for returns suck unlike everywhere it’s 30 days min. I’m giving it 4 stars just because it’s got the collection unlike anywhere around Columbus area.

A bit on expensive side, but it had everything that I needed. Literally spent over 2 hrs there. And getting membership paid itself off by buying one green cobra guppy and 1 black baloon molly.

The Cairns Aquarium is a fantastic place to while away a couple of hours. The displays are first class and it's the perfect indoor activity for the kids if you are looking for indoor activities. We are always mesmerised by the two floor reef tank. There's something for everyone, even Dad will enjoy a family outing to the Aquarium.

Nice aquarium with friendly staff. We did the SHARK DIVE and it was great. It was interesting and unique to be inside the tank with sharks and rays, and our guides were fantastic making sure we were safe and secure the whole time. Highly recommend.

Centrally located in Cairns. Interesting and well set out. Friendly and informative staff. Didnt take long to go through the facility. Just felt that $44 entry for adults was a little bit expensive

Definitely worth while doing the evening tour. Learnt a lot from the tour guide before we had our snorkelling adventure.

Though smaller than some of the aquariums I visited, this one is unique in that it focuses on the local sea life from the rainforest to the reef. It didn’t just have sealife but life in the creeks, rivers and mangroves. This theme is unique. It has a comprehensive explanation of the development of the rainforest and reef and has a fantastic display of the corals and reef fishes. I like the vertical wall of the coral reef, the shoreline life, as well as the underwater tunnel. It is very educational which I think is the main feature of the aquarium. If you walked through it quickly you would have it’s missed main benefit. I know it’s not cheap ($44) but for the amount of work put into it I think it’s worth it. And if you buy an annual pass for $93, it’s a downright bargain!

Had coffee & banana bread at the Daintree Coffee house which was really nice. Bought a few things from the gift shop, the choice & prices were really good. Stayed for the resident diving instructor/biologist show & that was well worth the time. Highly recommend a visit.

Had an amazing, lots to see. Well set out. Under water tunnel was so super awesome. Would have like to see some mud crabs, and other types of ocean fish that are caught in the area. Maybe an option for some audible buttons to press for some info rather than alot of reading for the kids and possibly adults that are not very literate/ short attention spans.. maybe a blue tooth head phone option. Cheers to the guy at the touch tank who was very informative.

One of the rudest stores I have every been in. I've been in several times and get the same treatment. I asked an employee if they could test my water. They "rolled" their eyes and said my water was fine. It wasn't and I lost fish. Also, the only time I could someone to to say anything was that my mask wasn't covering my whole face. I get the masks, but they are ridiculous and rude about it. I usely don't say never, but in this case I will. stay away from this over priced rude store.

  • 2/5 Hope S. 3 years ago on Google
We walked into the store. There were several employees who looked professional and ready to help! Unfortunately, they were not ready to help. There was alot of good products, fish, and decor, but the customer service could have made the experience five stars. It took at least 20 minutes before anyone asked if we needed any help.

  • 1/5 Jete S. 3 years ago on Google
I felt like their was to many workers that didn't help anyone. For example I ask for help but the worker said she was helping another customer, thats fine...but never said hold on I will get someone to help you.. When I finally got help 20 mins later, when I ask for recommendation of tropical fish the associate didn't help but said this fish will out grow my tank. But didn't tell me why? I'm not a fish expert, but their has to be an explanation of why rather then we can't sell you this fish. Note to manager...Please have continuous re-training. Or train the associate on customer service and education to the customer. So we are aware of situation like this. I'm sorry this was my first and last time I will go here.

Very nice shop. The prices on their fish are ridiculous however. They'll tell you they're selling "A" grade fish and plants but most of their employees are open and honest and will tell you otherwise. Also contracted a black algae from one of the plants so be cautious if you buy anything from here.

  • 2/5 Ryan O. 3 years ago on Google
Generally overpriced. For snails and common plants you'll save about 50% by walking across the street to the PetSmart. If you purchase fish, here's my suggestion: ask for two more than you need. This is because if you request four fish, you can expect them to forget to put one in the bag, and have another one die within 24 hours of getting home. For my latest purchase, it was even worse. Not only did one die within 8 hours of getting home (it already had an internal injury) but another one spread a disease that wiped out the rest of my population of rasboras. You honestly might be better going to a chain pet store, or just take a trip to Rivers to Reefs Aquariums.

Caution. Many fish we've bought from them die. ..when it happened previously we thought it could be a fluke. Water quality and conditions are great but almost all of the fish we bought this past weekend have died and not able this time to return in the limited timeframe for a refund. It's not the same reliable experience we always had at the Dublin location. Very sad and disappointed. ..not many other options nearby.

They keep the store looking nice because of how many staff member walk around, but I have been in the game for years and I have to quarantine EACH fish sold to me for longer than expected, I recently spent over 400 dollars and lost a butterfly on day 4 from ich and my fox face is now covered in the parasite as well that I purchased only took a couple of days to outbreak. This is not the first time this has happened, most of the fish in this shop are SICK. Good luck. Not to mention a store in gahanna is selling these same fish for HALF the price, rivers to reefs or Matt’s corals is your place to go. Screw wasting money on death. I have had MULTIPLE people tell me not to shop there and unfortunately have had to find out the hard way multiple times.

Wonderful staff!! Skyler walked us through every step of creating a new community fish tank - from fish selection options depending on the size of tank we were thinking about, to recommendations on what filters. He was very knowledgable and answered any and all questions we had - very thankful Skyler helped us!!

I didn't expect to buy that visit. My husband and I were looking at all the choices and sales, we were checked on often and offered help. After about and hour of looking and comparing, Richard asked if we were ready for help. He really was helpful and a set up was purchased. We were both very pleased with the service and selection.

The good: This store has a great selection of freshwater and saltwater livestock. From coral and plants to shrimp and crabs, they have it all. They have some very unique aquarium decorations and all the aquascaping material you could need. The bad: I lost a 270$ flasher wrasse the day after buying it and was told I would have to drive the 2 hours within the next 5 days to get a refund. Needless to say with working 10 hour days that wasn't feasible. I also bought a coral beauty from them that had gill flukes and quickly developed a bacterial infection but those where easily remedied. The prices on livestock are 2 times what other stores charge but you can get 25% off livestock (10% off dry goods) by joining their club bringing the price to only 50% higher than normal. Personally I find the selection more than worth the extra cost. All in all I love this store but avoid their saltwater fish like the plague.

I was there again today. Every February they have a massive sale but I digress. I had questions about some plants for my different tanks. Long story short, he was able to give me advice for both tank/ lighting setups. Best in central Ohio!

The place is awesome! They have a huge selection of both freshwater and saltwater fish and supplies. The fish were exceptional and the tanks were really clean. I bought 12 total, three varieties of fish and they're all doing great. It's a good thing I don't live close by. I'd have to buy another tank. I would highly recommend them.

  • 4/5 Zachary H. 11 months ago on Google
The store is usually well stocked with some hard to find items that most chain stores don’t have. The fish and plants are beautiful and I have yet to have anything from here die yet. It’s very pricey but that’s be expected and I’m okay with paying more to support a store like this. However, the staff is really hit and miss. Some are friendly and knowledgeable and some act like helping customers is the biggest inconvenience they could possibly imagine. It’s very much a reason to find things and supplies elsewhere. I frequent this store on almost a weekly basis and just try to find the employees I know won’t be snobby and rude

Connor was very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. Connor came up to me without me even having to seek out assistance and was eager and willing to help. I am new to planting tanks so Connor took the time to go over several plants, substrates, and difficulty levels for the different plants. Connor took the items to the front for me that I was carrying around so I didn’t have to continue to carry them and then continued to assist me. Archer the person working check out also came up to me and offered assistance without me asking. Archer was also very polite, professional and even took the extra time to check the fish tank I was buying. Archer noticed a crack in the tank and immediately had the tank replaced. I really want to thank these 2 for going above and beyond in a world where customer service is waning. Management should definitely take the time to consider these two for management positions. I will definitely return to Aquarium Adventures because of these two.

Went in looking for different aquariums. They have a nice selection! Ended up getting a Sea Cucumber we liked and some decorations. Was going to purchase the lifetime membership to help save some money when we come back to up size our saltwater aquarium. The cashier noticed my husband's service hat and gave him the membership for free!! Very awesome of this place to honor our loved ones that served our country!!
