Disappointed. Read the bad reviews, however seen that there was new management so I decided to take a chance for Memorial Day Weekend. With kids 6 and younger we knew the lake most likely would not work and planned to use the pool. The site was spacious and in good condition. The picnic table was beat up and there was no fire ring. When we went up Saturday morning to look over the activities, pool and playground that is when the true disappointed and regret set in. We discovered that it was being reported that the pool pump had broken this morning, despite it looking like it had never worked at all this year. The water in it was dirty and it was only half full. The grass in the activities area had not been cut, the playground was in need of mulch, the lake had algae up to the shoreline. This left just the playground for the entire weekend, hardly justifying the cost. The only active was a Poker Run later in the day however my 6 year old does not know how to play. There are only 4 bath stalls in the tent area and unless you can catch them quickly right after they are cleaned, then they are unusable. Memorial Day Weekend should have been an opportunity for new management to showcase this campground and they failed. We will need to travel outside the campground for activities for the kids this weekend and will not stay here again. I recommend anyone remotely thinking about staying here inspect it first. We could have stayed at state park with a playground for a cheaper rate and it would have been more restricted on noise and animals. We could have stayed at slightly more expensive campgrounds, such as a Yogi Bear, with better planned activities and facilities. Look elsewhere.

This was our first time staying at Jackson Lake and we enjoyed it! The campground was sold two months ago and is undergoing massive improvements. The road going in to the camp has been recently graveled for a smoother ride. All the buildings are being renovated and the cabins were recently upgraded as well. The RV sites are spread out so everyone has a little space. Comes with a picnic table & fire ring. Pool was closed since it was before the season started but they have big plans for the pool & lake it sounds like! This is a great location for soccer tournaments with fortress fields close by not to mention Brew Dog Brewery for the adults. Austin, Becca, and the team at Jackson Lake are working hard for their guests. It is a must stop if your around Canal Winchester!!

Ton of potential but What a Mess; # management, housekeeping, restrooms, lake, fishing pond. The reviews with 1 star over the last 3 years 100% represent current status. We rented 3 tent sites for two nights. The tent sites back around 230 are really nice. There is a stream with waterfalls (overflow from the lake) in the woods which is pretty cool. Short walk to restroom /shower. Restrooms are a mess as described in multiple reviews This is due to the showers not containing the water so you sit or stand in muddy water when using the toilet and sink. Still No soap and paper towels in two of the 4 rooms. As of Friday the doors are now fixed so they do lock! But the Pool is broken and parts on order. The lake has snail shells that feel gross under your feet at the beach and they smell horrible. Lacking operational structure simply because they only have Kids working the office and grounds. The only two things they enforced was 1: use the front office entrance to get to play ground and swimming lake 2: only fish in the algae weed pond. Please step it up and share the potential of the camp!!

Very disappointed I understand about the rain but the rain stopped it too and it was beautiful the rest of the day and no one can swim. The next day pretty much the same thing. New management problem is hiring these teenagers that are clueless And on a constant basis give out the wrong information. However I was impressed with two employees there, that was James very polite and windy working all the time. You absolutely have teenagers that are flying around on the golf carts at a high rate of speed. My suggestion is hire adults that want to work.I’m not understanding how the manager Diane can run a business like this from home even though she’s sick not doing a very good job

My husband and I tent camped here on the weekend of 9/9/22 through 9/11/22. I was late getting to the campground and the person who works in the front office gave me a courteous call to inform me that they close at 7pm, and gave me instructions on how to access my parking pass. I arrived just in time and was checked in and greeted by a very nice young man. We stayed at site 237. I really liked how wooded the sites were. I also liked that it had a trash can, electric, and water close by. The bathrooms were very nice. I saw staff cleaning/stocking those restrooms twice on Saturday. That was only what I actually noticed. They were always clean when I used them. I walked around the entire campground and there was no litter anywhere. I liked that they keep it clean. I can’t wait to visit again. Thanks for the great stay!

We stayed in a lake view cabin. The pool was closed but it wasn't a big deal. My family still had a blast. Even though the staff was fairly young they all did a great job. Especially the young lady in the shop/office she was super informative and patient. Will be going again!!

The campsite is Beautiful and peaceful. We would have loved staying here had the management been upfront and clear on policies. We came in the evening and camped. In the morning, my kids were all excited to go swimming and do the lake park. I spoke to 3 different people. On 3 different occasions. In bits and pieces I come to find out: yes the pool opens at 10. No there are no pool bathrooms or showers open till 12. You can only use the pool till 11 (checkout time). No you can’t go to the lake water park that opens at 12. You were only able to use it yesterday. No one told you? Sorry, that’s a strict policy. I understand and respect that this is the way the grounds were run. However, I did read and agree to the terms. I did not see it say anywhere about these hours and policies. Had the times and policies been clearly written when we booked the campsite, we would have been able to plan accordingly. We left with very disappointment kids. And $80 a night for $30 of amenities able to be used (camp site).

First time here. It was my grandson's 11th birthday so my husband and I took him and his sister and a friend. They had all been here before and said they love it. We spent 4 and a half hours or more here and kids only left water for the rest periods. They had a blast on all the inflatables in the water. They also have these little saucers you can paddle around the lake. (That's the picture I posted). When we got home one of the kids found out they left their back pack there. I called and told them what happened and described the backpack. I got a call back within the hour from a Johnathan who said he found it. Turns out we had struck up a nice conversation with him earlier in the day chit chatting about stuff. He is part of the security team and does a good job. Thank you again Johnathan!!

Place was amazing. Camp site's were spacious and quiet. Plenty of swimming and fishing as well. Only thing is when they had their t shirt tie dye event going on there was only 1 person wearing a mask. And people seemed to think Covid doesn't exist. Smh

Fun for the whole family. Day passes can be purchased for as low as 5.00 depending on the specials they run, so watch their facebook. Tent and RV camping is available however we not yet done either. We have stayed for the entire day multiple times this past summer and enjoyed the huge inflatables and jump pads in the water. The also have row boats free for use, everyone is required to use a life jacket while in the water and they are provided for free as well. We had a blast, i was a little sore after climbing the giant inflatable mountain a few times but had a blast hanging with the kids.

Just got a new 28'RV, wanted someplace close to home to stay for a night to get the rig outfitted. My humble opinion is not very favorable of this place. I took a drive out to take a look before booking. As others indicated, the chert road leading to the camp has a great deal of large potholes and erosion. Not sure why, we haven't had much rain this summer. The office is an older trailer and a, what I assume is a security building, was empty and the door looked like it had a completely broken frame. The RV area has virtually no trees, just an open lot. The lots were grass and gravel and a good number didn't look very level. Just isn't what I would want for our first RV night.

Nice, private, shaded tent camping spots with electric. Fun inflatables on the lake and nice little beach area. A deep end of the pool would have been a plus but if you are worried about water safety, the max 3' depth is great for you! We really enjoyed our Sunday night camping. Very quiet & peaceful.

The lake is pretty and the pool looks great. The full hookup area isn’t the best overall (not the best views). The sites are very close together and a bit awkward with neighbors. There were quite a few full timers that weren’t the most friendly folks and made us feel a bit out of our comfort. Overall, this looks like a great place to take your kiddos during the summer months to utilize the pool, lake, fishing lake and the multiple shelter houses. But would stay away from the RV camping. We made our way to the dry camping area behind the lake and it had some beautiful camp spots - maybe it was tent camping only. I hope this helps.

We greatly enjoyed our recent stay. Pool was nice and clean. Our site had newly laid gravel that was a little loose but that will get better with more campers. We were the first on it. The sites were large in our area. We were surprised with our sites being full hookup upon arrival which was great. We didn’t utilize the lake but looked like lots of kids having fun. Staff was all kind and helpful. When there was an issue with some unruly campers the security staff came to enforce the rules promptly. Definitely returning. Lots of improvements happening under new management

I am so glad that this company fired me for getting Covid! This park is a dump and will not be fixed when the manager has no support from Natasha, who is scared to stand up to all the kids that are running the place. Had issue after issue with office turning the ringer off on the phone, since they didn't want to hear it because they refuse to answer it but I was not even allowed to hold them accountable. It was like babysitting brats. Park has potential if it had the right workers and upper management support, but sadly it doesn't. Cody is the only upper management that is worth anything. If you are considering working for this company don't go to a park that is assigned to Natasha! I am now at a beautiful resort where I have good support from the owners!

Counted 100 + people in the pool, ran out of life jackets, so we couldn't play in the lake. We were campers, several empty lots, so they letting too many in from the public.park was dirtier than usual. Doubt I come back again, the front desk tried to get our friends camping as well to pay additional $10 for wrist bands when already paid to camp.

  • 3/5 Sarah H. 1 year ago on Google
Has great potential. Unfortunately for us it was just a place to park. The beach and water inflatables are only open on the weekends. The playground is also located inside the fenced in area so that's pretty much off limits too. The pool is not in operation. The game room and store close at 5. Doesn't appear to be any kind of restaurant in order. Disc golf looks nice but forgot discs. Fishing pond is more like a puddle. Camper sites have minimal trees; our site had none. Tent sites look amazing though. Cabins are neat and have a nice water view but again, the pond is off limits so it's just a view. Bathrooms are ok as far as campground bathrooms go. Overall, it is ok, but not awesome for restless kids who want entertainment. We spent a lot of extra money traveling trying to find things to do because there is really nothing to do on site (during the week).

  • 2/5 Paul S. 3 years ago on Google
Our site was level. Facilities are a little tired looking, but we not using them. Social distancing is non existent. And to get friends in to visit at your RV site, costs $10.00 each to just enter the RV park. That’s a little steep.

Never. Again. Site not mowed or marked clearly. Bathrooms stocked well but dirty. Sewage pipe not capped so stinky. Pool unavailable but less than 4 feet deep anyway. Utility covers at site broken. No shade for camper/RV sites. Sites spacious and tent sites well shaded but overall very poorly maintained campground. Went there because husband had good childhood memories. Blast from the past fizzled quickly. So disappointing. Beautiful property and place has so much potential it’s sad that it is what it is.

pool was not ready for memorial day weekend at all. the site we had was SO muddy from the rain, obviously unavoidable, but sites do get very muddy just FYI. we were site 181 and 183. The campground overall was not super well kept, grassy area where beach chairs area was not mowed for memorial day weekend either. the lake was fun, all of the inflatables were fun and life jackets available. did have live music at the pool area at night but pool not open. the main store was nice enough and has pool tables which our kids liked. overall okay but will not be going back, underwhelmed.

  • 3/5 Linda N. 1 year ago on Google
Nice quiet campground. I liked it a lot. My only complaint was the pool was out of order, which I was not told before I checked in, and it remained out for the entire week we were there. The beach area was covered with goose poop, so I really wanted a pool. Otherwise it was clean and pleasant.

My husband is a first responder and was called for hurricane duty. After explaining the situation to the manager at Jackson Lake. I asked if we could be refunded and her response was “we don’t give refunds”. We would have definitely plan to go again at a later date but...... Clearly they don’t support people who are called out for natural disasters, pandemics, etc. and you never know when something will happen.......so I won’t support their business either. Word of mouth is the best way to let people know! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Definitely not kid friendly!!! they came at 9 o’clock yelling at us and being disrespectful saying my cousins and her baby’s had too leave all cause her (4 months and a 3 year old ) was crying and “being too loud” i get it was a little late but the baby’s was tired she was laying them down. so the next morning we go down to get two extra night they told all of us too leave and we had words back and forth but we just ended up going back to the camp site to pack all our stuff up and 5 sheriffs showed up they had my cousin arrested and they trust passed all us and it all started cause the was baby’s being too loud… the girl was just plan out disrespectful and her husband tried too say it was cause “she had a long week“ that still no excuse too treat us like that

My husband and myself went and stayed last night in our tent. It was a wonderful experience. We met some great people that came to Ohio for the Christian music festival and on there way home to Illinois they stopped to camp for the night. Staff was hospitable. The bathrooms and showers where nice and clean, it was just an over all great night. We will definitely be returning.

We are new to camping and our stay at Jackson Lake did not disappoint. The campground is close to family and friends in Columbus and we just needed an overnight hook-up. We were able to book a RV site the same day we needed to stay. With two young teen girls with us, the lake and inflatables were a perk! Life jackets are provided and required. YES, there are fish and snails in the lake, lol. Management went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of during our stay. Having a new-to-us motorhome, we managed to lock ourselves out shortly after arriving. They were extremely helpful with the situation. "Clean-up" seems to be on the agenda of the new management with the goal of making the campground attractive to families hoping they return frequently. I would agree this is a family friendly location and staff. They have also hired a security person who drives around the campsites frequently. Don't be surprised if you are informed to keep your dog from barking or your campsite quiet after hours. He really watches that so others can enjoy their camping experience as well. Suggestions for booking, use of the lake activities are only during your check-ed in hours so, arrive closest to check in time to get a good amount of time in the water. Day passes are available too if you want to enjoy the water. We prefer less people around our site so #159 or any around the wooded areas would be good for that. We did not go over to the tent camping area, but it sounds like a good time! Overall, we would stay again.

Overall this campsite was a great experience!! Made me and my husband think about going every year, this was our second time and it was better than before. If you want quiet and privacy, go on weekdays, clean bathrooms. Gave a real camping experience of course, the service is top tier. The Lake was very fun, lifejackets required!!! One complaint is we woke up to a homeless person going through our trash and looking at our stuff

Such a beautiful area. We had our camping wedding this weekend there and also celebrated my birthday the next day! Everything was amazing, I definitely recommend this place to anyone. Sadly I do not remember the managers name, but he was truly the best! So patient, helpful and understanding. We can't wait to camp there more!

The road into the Campground needs a lot of repair. We arrived very late and it was somewhat difficult to find our spot with the small map given. They were very kind and let us pick a fairly level place. The maintenance gentleman was amazing. We couldn’t get our water turned on. He quickly arrived and helped us with the water and even stayed to make sure we got everything else hooked up and all settled in. Thank you very much to him. the bathrooms and showers and very clean, large and well lit.

Camp sites were pretty decent good size. The kids LOVED the lake with the beach and all of the inflatables that they could climb on and play on. There's a cafe and game room that the kids LOVED being able to play in when it rained. It only took us 30 minutes to get there from where we lived in Columbus, which was nice. Overall it was a great first experience for our first time there. Most likely will go back for another weekend trip.

First off drove an hour to get to Jackson lake, once I got there I noticed that the drive way leading into the campground was extremely rough and washed out and did not look like it was been taken care of. Once I got up to the office the young kid asked what I was here for I said that I have a family in the primitive lot waiting for me. I told him the last name that it was under and he did not want to go and verify that he said that I needed a wristband to go back there. He then told me to call one of the The family members and I told him that they will not answer because they just told me they were at the lake and they did not bring their phone. I called and no answer I told him that then he proceeded to say that I I could drive around to find them and if they don’t have a wristband that I had to come up personally to get one and register. I drove around for 15 minutes and finally found the family they did not have a wristband so I had to then come back up to the office to get a wristband. Once I received the wristband they proceeded to tell me that I was not allowed to park back where my family was and I had to park my vehicle on the other side of the lake in a big parking lot. I myself did not want to do that I was already aggravated so I drove an hour back home to not be able to spend the rest of the weekend with my family. This Wasn’t my first experience with this lake, A couple years ago I purchased a fifth wheel camper and I called them up to verify if I could park there and they didn’t have a clue of the lengths so then again I drove an hour out there to find out I could not. So there will be no more camping adventures here at Jackson Lake for me or my family.

Man, I’m really torn about how I want to rate this place... First of all, this was our first time visiting. I have a family of 5, my husband, an 11 year old, 9 year old and a 5 month old baby. The lake And pool really offered family fun for my kids who are obviously all ages. It was actually my 5 months old first time swimming and she loved it! The water in both were clean and the older kids loved the inflatables. The staff all seemed really helpful and friendly when we needed to interact with them. Now... for the bad. We love camping, being out doors, fishing, cooking and laying in a hammock. We chose a primitive site because we honestly like the full camping experience and it’s a nice way to unplug. Unfortunately we weren’t able to actually enjoy ourselves other than the time we we’re all swimming orDoing an activity. I’m currently sitting at my house with my children while my husband stayed at the campsite with all our things. The kids and I left at night so we could actually get sleep. because for the second day/night we were neighbors to some of the trashiest people. I’m talking screaming profanities at their children. Smoking weed and talking about drugs. At one point an adult grabbed the little girl by her hair and smacked her in the face 3 times. The first night they had woken my children multiple times until 4:30 in the morning. So the whole 11 pm quiet thing is a lie. It wasn’t just at the campsite though. When we went to the lake area there was another really large group there just passing around a giant bottle of Jim beam smoking weed , cussing and acting real nasty with their kids. It seems to have been everywhere we went that there were no standards to how people acted or what they did. It makes it really hard for good honest families to enjoy if this is the atmosphere. It’s pretty sad that my 9 year old daughter got to witness a live version of Jerry springer at our campsite (they’re all right on top of each other with barely any separation) and my 11 year old son has to keep asking what that smell is because everyone is just getting high with no curtesy of the people and children near them. It really makes your facility look bad. Not even against people smoking but come on folks.. some of us have children not exposed to that stuff and want to keep it that way. I would recommend going there though. If you have a family like mine maybe look for one of the very few secluded sites like I’ll be doing the next time we go. Because we would go back.
