👍👍 So glad I stumbled on Hoyo's. They don't have the highest reviews and i almost passed by them. Now I know why they got 5 star ratings, sometimes stars are overrated but Hoyo's deserves every one of them 5 stars!! The Somali spice rice, beautiful color of cabbages, tomato, onions, cucumber, lettuce,... People often mention chicken, good, rice, mango, goat, bowl, delicious, spicy, North, Market,

So glad I stumbled on Hoyo's. They don't have the highest reviews and i almost passed by them. Now I know why they got 5 star ratings, sometimes stars are overrated but Hoyo's deserves every one of them 5 stars!! The Somali spice rice, beautiful color of cabbages, tomato, onions, cucumber, lettuce, lentils, chickpea, spinach were awesome. But the real star is the protein, the goat and mango chicken were unbelievable! The goat is a stand out, so tender and delicious! The mango chicken is a little spicy but not too bad.

I recently visited the North Market location with a friend on a weekend trip to Columbus. I have never had true African cuisine so I was excited to start with Hoyo’s. The woman that prepared my food was incredibly kind and gave me details about choices that were new to me. I chose a bowl with rice, safari chicken, chickpeas, lettuce, and cabbage (with garlic yogurt, of course) and it was truly one of the best meals I have had in a while. The flavors were so intentionally developed and had layers of spot-on texture and spices that were just as great even the day after. Loved the people, loved the conversation, and loved the opportunity to experience their comfort food. I cannot wait to go back!!

Love this place, located in the North Market downtown. What an explosion of flavors! The Mango Chicken is so delicious with just the perfect amount of spice. The goat is also very good, fall off the bone, so I usually get half & half. The samosas are incredible! ive had the beef and chicken, both are so good. Staff is friendly and helpful!

First time having Somalian food so I can’t talk about authenticity, but it is delicious regardless. I picked the rice and the goat, let the young lady do what she liked after that. Ordered it with a tamarind juice. The goat was so well cleaned and stewed, it could have passed for beef stew. Rice was well seasoned, the cabbage gave it the crunch, the yogurt gave it just a bit of creaminess. Tried the chili sauce but was too spicy for me. Docked a star because the juice could’ve had a more concentrated taste but the food itself is 5 stars and the service is top notch.

We came here last year 2022.. and We’re coming back soon That’s all I’m going to say! lol 😁 good food!!!!! The people at this restaurant are very well mannered and they love what they do. Their food was made with love! This is Mommas Kitchen! ❤️ Back in 2023 of Aug we came back and tried something different. Mango chicken!!! We stuck with the tamarind drink and our boys got the mango 🥭 we love y’all food so much I’ve learn how to make Somalian food because we don’t have any restaurants like this in our city! Just know everytime we hit up Columbus we will be here!! We love y’all!

I must have missed this place the first time I came here, I decided to try this place out. Service was okay, they were friendly. The portions are huge and it is pricey. I got Somali rice, beef suqaar, spinach, and chickpeas. I ordered a beef sambusa. The sambusa was hot and tasty. The rice was flavorful. The beef suqaar was kind of tough, dry, and flavorless. I was hoping for meat that was tender and requires less chewing. Chickpeas were delicious but spinach was okay. Overall i would fine like a 3.5 because it was the first time I didn’t finish my meal.

Honestly, I don't think there's a better place in North Market to grab a quick lunch. Flavor and spice are the name of the game and there's tons of it! Their spicy rice is a must if you have a tolerance for heat. If you're familiar with Ethiopian cuisine, you'll get some familiar notes from Somali cuisine, and you can also get injera on the side. Proteins are always tender and served in generous portions. You can't go wrong with any of their sauces -- if you have a high spice tolerance, the mango hot sauce is the way to go. Otherwise, the creamy garlic sauce is a perfect balancing act for the spicy rice. The workers are also very friendly folks. Hoyo's is certainly one of the best fast-casual dining options in all of Columbus!

When I tell you I'm obsessed with this place, it is an understatement! I have broken my diet more times than I care to admit because of how delicious this place is! My favorite thing to get is the Mango Chicken! So incredible! If you go to North Market, I HIGHLY suggest trying Hoyo's Kitchen before you leave!

Tried the goat. Not really any meat on it, but really tasty. Spicy and well balanced. It was nearly closing so I'm not holding that against them. Simple pic an item and build a bowl. Ask for combinations that work, I'm glad I took the advice given. Vegetarian options looked quite good. Definitely worth a trip.

Amazing service, the people working there were sweet, thoughtful and incredibly patient as we figured out what we wanted to eat. Ended up getting the vegetarian bowl and the garlic yogurt sauce and my goodness! So yummy and held me over until the evening truly.

Stopped by on my lunch break after being told about it for months by a friend. I will definitely be back. Great customer service and food. I had a bowl with the "yellow" rice sweet and spicy chicken and beef and some veggies. Also had a beef sambusa (so good I went back for a chicken, also good). And then I had a ginger lemonade. Really good. Decent price point. Really no commissions.

Wow. I just finished my food 5 minutes ago, and I had to jump right on Google reviews to leave a great review here. This is a true 5-star bowl place. I’m blown away by the sweet and delectable taste of the mango chicken. I eat A LOT, and this will provide me fuel all day.

This place is an excellent representative for Somali cuisine in the US. Food here made my day as it was so flavorful with all the harmonious spices. Got the half/ half with goat and safari chicken, the heat gave such a good kick and you cannot joke with those sauces, especially the mango habanero! Portion size is generous, the lady who helped with my order was nice and friendly. I really want to come back just for this good food!!!

Talk about FLAVOR!! I got the spicy rice bowl with mango chicken, onions, garbanzo beans, and chicken with a beef sambusa on the side. Everything was so delicious and seasoned! All of the flavors mixed so well together. I washed it all down with a tamarind drink which was not too sweet, it hit the spot! I had to come back a few days later and grab another bowl, that’s how good they are! The chai tea is a must try! Don’t forget the injera 🗣️🗣️ customer service is fabulous!!

I’ve been in Columbus for a few weeks for business travel and I’ve come back to this place every chance I get. The service is always lightning quick and the food is packed with flavor. Also can’t forget to mention how healthy all these dishes are with the simple ingredients

Delicious food! I did half regular and half spicy rice with mango chicken, cabbage, lentils, red onion, and raw cabbage... soooo good! I started eating before thinking to take a photo. Don't miss this place!

Been to the North Market many times (one of my favorite stops while traveling), but first time at Hoyo's and I must say, the food is excellent. The chicken is tender and the dish has a perfect amount of sweet & spicy. I would absolutely recommend and can't wait to go back.

Fantastic food! I highly recommend the mango chicken with 50/50 rice, lettuce, and onions. Buy the bread too. Stir your bowl up, tear off pieces of the bread, and use the bread to pick up chunks of food from the bowl. The bitterness of the bread mixed with the savory spice of the bowl is perfect! Try the sauces too.

You need to get the mango chicken whoa. Rice, cabbage and spinach was tender and flavorful. Everything was fresh and delicious, servers behind counter were extremely friendly and approachable. Do not sleep on this place. An absolute must if you’re in the market

Highly recommend by some co workers and I'm so glad I listened. Absolutely delicious and I recommend the mango chicken if you want a good balance of flavor and heat! Generous portions(I had leftovers for another meal), great flavors, everything melds well together. The creamy garlic sauce is to die for and I'd put it on everything! A not-to-miss place for awesome food!

What’s great about North Market is that it provides an opportunity sample cuisines from countries and regions most would never consider. Somali food? Why yes indeed Somali food is here in North Market, and by the way if you like spicy Indian seasonings, sourdough bread, and hearty meats and veggies then you’re gonna love it. Everytime I visit, there’s always a long line. Once you’ve tried it you will be back. As someone who appreciates a good veggie bowl, I have to say this place has the best one in Columbus.

We’ve never tried Somalian food before, but we’re so glad we did! We got the spicy rice, goat, lentils, and chickpeas. Amazing! The goat was absolutely delicious, as was everything else. Will 100% be returning! I looked up the location of a possible sit down restaurant version (we tried it at North Market) and was sad to see it was temporarily closed. Can’t wait for it to re-open! 100% try it!!!

Excellent spot in the North Market. Never experienced Somali Cuisine before, and the service was really friendly too. Pictured is the Vegetarian option for $10. This is worth a try if in the area along with many other great spots in the market.

When I tell you Hoyo’s Kitchen is like being at home I mean it. The food takes you back to a memory of comfort you only get from your momma’s food. The OG location in Columbus square will always have a special place in my heart, but I love that they are at North Market!
