Charged me nearly $50 to have a tiny sliver of a silver ring resized. When I got the ring back it seemed exactly the same size as when I had brought it in. I wore the ring for about 24 hours to see if my finger would swell at all and no change. I went back and let him know that it was still too large as it slipped easily on and off my finger and was told that I was going to be charged another $20 to have it adjusted. I could’ve easily gone to a large retail jeweler and had this done with the confidence that it would’ve been done correctly the first time, but I wanted to support a local business so I took a chance and went with a jeweler in my neighborhood.

I had a small jewelry repair project. Gustavo completed it quickly and for a fair price. He is also responsive to inquiries through his website. The shop has interesting custom-made pieces and loose stones, even some really creative pieces.

I have an antique engagement ring from the 1920's. Needless to say, it has needed some tweaks. The major repair on my ring (resetting the center diamond) was done approximately 5 years ago, and it is still perfect. His recommendation in how to reset the diamond made the ring even more beautiful than before. A few months ago he resized my ring. It took him half the time he said and was a great price. His hours and days are not always predictable, and there are periods of time he is not present in his shop so if it's a jewelry "emergency," he may not be available. I would definitely recommend. I love the work he has done and will be going back!

My son had an engagement ring he needed sized down to a 3. The ring however was too delicate to be sized so drastically. The owner considered it and came up with an idea, drew a quick sketch (my son was very nervous) and allowed us some time to think about it. My son agreed to the idea which was brilliant. From one ring emerged a pair of earrings for him to give her on their wedding day, a customized wedding band using the diamonds in the band of the ring, and resetting the half carat as a solitaire as the engagement ring. The work was absolutely stunning and my son was grinning from ear to ear. I also had my ring repaired. Very pleased. Price was very reasonable. Will be recommending and returning for any future repairs that are needed on my other pieces

Gustavo did an amazing job creating an engagement ring for my fiance! He made sure that I was happy every step of the way, that my design ideas were being accurately represented, and in the end he was able to design and create a beautiful piece of jewelry! I stopped into this store to get an estimate on mounting a stone into a ring (both of which I had previously purchased, and were not ultra-expensive items). But because I didn't have a top-notch gem or ring, the owner and another employee were both a bit rude, but mostly just condescending. The owner stated that because the metal in the ring is not typical (palladium), he might break the ring if he worked on it. Ultimately, I felt that they were more concerned with selling me their inventory than in helping me. They had an easy shot at earning future business from me, but due to their poor attitudes I suggest that you try another store that isn't condescending to potential customers, especially if you're not wealthy, or if you need work done with palladium.

My fiance went in for a custom engagement ring. It is so beautiful and well made. We actually went back to him for my fiance's wedding band and my wedding band. Each item was perfect. He really listened to what we wanted. Absolutely recommend.

They were great and are my go-to local jewelry place. If I need something made, fixed, re-sized, appraised, or just want to get rid of some old scrap gold this is the place to do it. And the prices are reasonable too! He is very thorough and is willing to go the extra mile to get you what you want. I'm very hesitant about going into big jewelry stores but he made the process of re-sizing my engagement ring and getting our wedding bands nice, friendly and simple. Highly recomend!

I got buzzed into the tiny store and was greeted by the owner, Gustavo. I told him what I was picturing for a ring and he pulled out an example of a setting that was exactly what I was looking for. He asked me how many placed I had looked around before here, and when I said none Gustavo told me to "go home, watch the game, then check out the big jewelers and call him back when I'm ready". Before I left he gave me a 20 min diamond lesson and told me how to shop for one even if I didn't buy from him. Gustavo is great at what he does and makes masterpieces. I went here to get a ring resized and to possibly purchase a ring. I was initially so excited to find this place. I love supporting local businesses and the reviews sounded amazing. I showed up right at 9AM today. The owner was not there even though hours on the door and on-line stated that the place should be open. I was fitting it in before I needed to be somewhere so I left at 9:45AM (45 minutes after the place should have been open). I brushed it off and swung back around at 3:30PM. The store was finally open but now with a sign stating that "no repairs til Jan 2015". I proceeded to get buzzed in and look around. The gentlemen seemed very annoyed that I was even there. He quickly said no to resizing my ring so not being from the area I asked if he could recommend somewhere else. He just said "no no he couldn't." I made him aware that I was there in the morning and that he should update his hours. I did look around the store. The jewelry is unique. I would have considered looking closer but at this point he had made it clear that I was just a nuisance to him. I just want to warn anyone to call before going because he does not keep normal hours. Also if you need anything repaired or made he can't fit that in for the holidays. Also, I assume this was an off day for him because I was not treated very well at all.

Before coming to Beechwold Custom Jewelry, I had hastily made a purchase at a large retailer that I soon regretted. I thought that I wanted a lot of detail in my engagement ring, and after looking through all the settings they had, I decided this ring (with wedding band) was the best one I was going to find. The associate working with me pointed me to a half carat diamond that was supposedly a great color and cut for the price, and she encouraged me to buy it right away because at that price, it wasn’t going to be around long. Being somewhat of a pushover, I ended up purchasing it and spending quite a bit of money in the process. Once they had set the diamond and I came to pick it up, I was not happy with it. The quality didn’t seem very good and the diamond wasn’t as bright as I remembered. I thought I would get used to it, but I didn’t. Thankfully, my dear husband came to the rescue. He had been researching rings for me for quite some time and ended up talking with some students who make jewelry at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center, and they all raved about Gustavo at Beechwold and strongly encouraged my husband to see him. After a preliminary visit, he brought me to the shop to see it for myself. The building has a humble appearance, but I quickly learned once again that you cannot judge a book by its cover. I showed Gustavo the ring I had purchased and he began asking me questions about specific parts of the ring I liked and disliked, and what I truly wanted in a ring. It turns out I wanted nothing like what I had! He had me try on a couple different rings in the store and look through a large catalog for designs I liked. Once I landed on one, I told him my budget and he said he would find me diamonds that fit my price range and that once he had them, I could come look at them before he put them in the setting. I kid you not, the diamonds he found were immensely brighter and better looking than the other ring, and for a much lower cost! I couldn’t believe how much better they looked. Once I picked up the finished product, I was floored – it was exactly what I wanted and just stunning. I later purchased a plain platinum band to match the engagement ring, which he graciously tapered for me at no extra charge to match the other ring better. I know I am only recently married, but I can’t help staring at my rings all the time! I strongly recommend Gustavo and his shop. He is incredibly personable and I did not feel pressured in the least to buy anything. He educates his customers on how diamonds are graded and what to expect with different types of metals and what have you, which made me feel a lot more knowledgeable and better about what I was buying. There is nothing in any store like the ring that I was able to make for my fiancé here. She can’t stop showing it to all of her friends in Columbus, and everyone seems really impressed with it. It has such a unique look, and I know I could never have found her something that fit her personality as well as this did.

We were really excited to visit this place based on all the great reviews, but we had a pretty bad experience with Gustavo. We were looking for an engagement ring, and we told him our budget but he spent the entire conversation convincing us why what we wanted would be bad and trying to get us to either spend more money or get things we said we didn't want (like a thicker band because the thin one we wanted would "bend too easily"). He even asked us about our monthly finances so he could convince us we could afford more than we wanted to spend. Not sure how good his repair skill is, but we didn't like his salesmanship at all so we hurried to a different store, and we don't recommend going here.

Gustavo runs an amazing local business that should certainly not be overlooked in favor of the "big box stores." I was a smart shopper and checked out prices at 3 different jewelry stores. Gustavo charged SIGNIFICANTLY less for EXACTLY the same ring that I wanted to be made. I will definitely be going to him when it comes time to make our wedding bands. My fiance is over the moon.
