I
recently
came
to
Edward
Warren
Jewelers
in
order
to
have
a
Diamond
engagement
ring
resized
and
appraised.
Upon
entering,
I
was
met
by
a
woman
who
explained
their
services,
fees
and
the
like.
As
she
inspected
the
ring
itself
she
stopped
without
making
eye
contact,
and
with
slight
exasperation
asked,
“So
you
know
these
stones
aren’t
real,
right?”.
When
I
expressed
that
they
were
actually
diamonds
according
to
the
original
receipt/appraisal
she
re-examined
the
stones
using
a
loupe
and
handheld
diamond
tester
(out
of
my
view).
She
clarified
that
the
center
diamond
was,
in
fact,
a
diamond
but
that
the
rest
were
moissanite
because
“they
just
don’t
look
right,
you
know?”.
I
found
that
hard
to
believe
considering
the
ring
was
purchased
prior
to
the
commercial
availability
of
moissanite
and
had
never
been
worked
on
post-purchase.
So
I
kindly
asked
for
my
ring
back
and
took
it
to
a
reputable
jeweler
who
used
significantly
more
measures
to
discern
if
any
or
all
of
the
diamonds
were
real
(without
knowing
my
experience
at
this
location),
and
also
conducted
the
procedures
to
resize
and
appraise
it.
It
turns
out
to
be
completely
real
in
contrast
to
her
determination.
So
that
leaves
me
frustrated
because
I
could
have
left
my
ring
with
this
jeweler
who
either
knew
they
were
real,
but
for
one
reason
or
another
told
me
they
were
fake
(which
I
decline
to
elaborate
on),
or
lacked
quality
discernment
causing
her
to
mistake
them
for
moissanite.
It
might
not
happen
to
everyone,
and
others
may
have
a
great
experience,
but
I
sure
won’t
be
coming
back.
