Went
on
a
trip
outside
of
Rome
Italy
some
years
ago,
while
I
was
there
I
was
invited
to
go
metal
detecting
with
some
locals
from
a
small
town.
Spent
a
wonderful
weekend
detecting
and
finding
some
fantastic
coins
and
other
artifacts.
At
the
end
of
the
last
day,
I
was
lucky
enough
to
find
an
old
Roman
ring
in
pretty
good
condition
with
an
image
of
two
people
and
a
horse
on
it,
and
I
took
the
ring
back
home
with
me
to
Ohio.
Some
time
went
by
and
one
day
while
looking
at
the
ring
I
finally
decided
I
wanted
to
wear
it,
but
it
had
a
small
dent
along
the
bottom,
and
I
needed
it
fixed
to
be
able
to
wear
it.
A
family
member
suggested
Allison‘s
jewelry.
I
went
in,
liked
the
looks
of
the
place,
and
decided
to
have
the
ring
repaired
there.
I
left
a
specific
instructions
three
times
do
not
clean
the
area
where
the
images
are,
I
do
not
want
that
area
damaged
or
altered
in
any
way;
this
ring
is
over
2000
years
old.
I
was
informed
the
utmost
care
would
be
used
on
the
repair,
and
no
cleaning
of
the
patina
was
needed
for
the
repair.
I
even
had
the
lady
write
on
the
work
order
DO
NOT
CLEAN.
I
got
a
call
four
or
five
days
later
to
pick
up
the
ring,
and
to
my
shock
ALL
of
the
patina
had
been
removed
along
with
some
of
the
facial
features
of
the
two
figures
on
the
ring.
I
was
stunned.
Complaining
was
useless,
the
ring
was
ruined,
and
I
walked
out
leaving
my
wife
to
pay
whatever
fee
it
was
to
destroy
my
property.
I
will
not
ever
set
foot
in
there
again.
