Dr Gomathie Cheldayohan is extremely RUDE unprofessional and she intimidates patients to provoke them so that they can have something to attach to the individual. This woman is playing with our family members life. She is dangerously increasing the dosage on two strong medications that treat the same symptoms He have been complaining of chest pain at night they just tell him to go lay down, and that they will take his blood samples to see if he is ok because they don't believe him. She have him taking ZYPRAXA AND CLOZAPINE AT THE VERY SAME TIME every single day even though he have not had ANY TYPE of agresion or anything she is over medicating him to 200MG of CLOZAPINE AND ZYPRAXA. Our family member have been requesting to change Doctors Cheldayohan keeps telling him nothat she will be the one to decide who treats him yet she disrespectes him and make him very uncomfortable.. She doesn't listen to the patients concern's, she keeps vorbaly threatening so that he can react like any frustrated person when someone keeps provokeing you insulting you you would have a breaking point that's how she deals with patients to keep them hospitalized. Our family member have been begging this woman to call us she said NO to him every single time. Cheldayohan is using old information to keep our family member hospitalized when he is completely fine right now Cheldayohan DOESN'T take any time whatsoever to talk with the patients family. Most of the nurses are very RUDE, they make fun of the patients. To impress the Doctors. Experiments are being done on young Black men we need the community to come together the day after Christmas. So far we have a little over 400 Church members that will be peacefully protesting outside of Ohio State Harding Hospital. If you or your family have also been violated please come join us. Bring your cellphone post it on YouTube to bring awareness to what's going on. Call radio stations or any Media house to join us.

Dr Gomathie Cheldayohan have been violating our beloved family members human rights. They are using him as a GUINEA PIG in an experiment she have without his consent or our approval. Dr Cheldayohan have our beloved one on Zyprexa and CLOZAPINE at the same time she have had him on this experiment for almost 3 weeks noow she keeps incresing dosage he becomes very disoriented, his eyes are starting to lose focus, at night he can barly stand up he just lays down. They lied to a judge with old information that they had to get the approval to experiment on him. Our family member is alert, he is able to make sensible decisions on his own, he is NOT a threat to himself or to society. Yet they are disregarding everything that he says. Because he expresed his love and trust in God they said he is being DELUSIONAL because he said God will help him and favor him through what he is going through.. Based on that they are keeping him to continue the experiment. We have tried to get in touch with Dr Gomathie Cheldayohan she have been avoiding our calls. Yet she have refused to discharge our family member. The day after Christmas gathering event have been rescheduled we are having a meeting Friday January 7th.

After lapsing into a state of anxiety/sleep deprivation for the first time ever due to physical health concerns, my spouse of 12 yrs. was advised by OSU Harding that a hospital admission, an assessment, and med management were necessary. After a 10 day stay, which included being visited my one to four psychiatrists (students?) per day, receiving med applications, and an assessment, which was provided to me, BUT only after I cornered a doc and asked, an assessment that your spouse has "mood disorder" (from page 3 of Psychiatry for DUMMIES), a release to home was granted. My zombie-fied spouse was seen by a NP two weeks on who asked more relevant questions in one hour than OSU doctors did in 10 days. The NP stated she wasn't a fan of the meds in prescribed by OSU, changed them, and in 2 days time, my spouse was again rational, alert, and positive-leaning in thought. OSU Harding also had assured us they would see to it that an appointment for the physical health issues would be set within 2 weeks of release. That equated to my spouse getting a 3rd party tele-health call to charge for a mental health assessment, again, and an over-the-phone physical health assessment, which we were already 360 degrees beyond. As to "response from owner" below: No need to share more, it is what it is.

This was in 2015. Nurses and technicians had their ā€œfavoritesā€. Pods and bathrooms are gross. Lots of people had visiting friends bringing drugs in easily. There was one fool that kept slamming the phone so they took it off the wall. They admittedly expressed how they donā€™t have the funding like the James and other surrounding hospitals. I think that is a huge problem bc a huge part of our population is suffering and being sent back out in worse shape than when they came in. Or you come out having lost more faith in the mental health

This place moves extremely slow. Staff is friendly enough, but if your family member or loved one is in real crisis, Iā€™d look elsewhere. I took a friend here and itā€™s been 10 hours since we were told theyā€™d be ā€œinpatientā€ and they are still waiting on a room as Iā€™m writing this. I was then told ā€œitā€™s a slow night and they hope to get patients to rooms within 12 hoursā€. Doesnā€™t look like thatā€™ll happen at the rate things are going. Just sad.

I spent a couple months here in their non-aggressive adult ward following a suicide attempt a few years back. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional, and they seemed to treat all the other patients with respect as well. One patient was being disruptive and calling the staff obscenities, but they took it all in stride. A few days later the patient seemed to be doing a lot better and was apologetic and laughing with the staff about how they were acting, so this doesn't seem like a place that treats people poorly because they're being "difficult". I got the sense that the staff truly cared. Sometimes with mental health providers you get the sense that they're just going through the motions but I had several nurses go the extra mile to make a personal connection and make sure I was serious when I said I wasn't going to go home and hurt myself. Not just for my sake, but for my family's sake as well. I read another review that said the place felt dangerous, but I didn't get that vibe at all. I guess it depends on who happens to be admitted there at the time, but it never felt like there was any shadiness or lack of control by the staff while I was there. I never had a negative interaction with any other patient. I knocked a star off because, if I'm perfectly honest, I'm not sure how useful the activities and such are for people dealing with major mental health issues. It's the standard stuff, arts & crafts, a meditation lesson, making a list of what you're thankful for etc. Again, it seemed like they were trying their best to help people but there's only so much anyone can do for someone else. So, in summary, I'd say that in my experience Harding provides a stable, positive environment that could well provide an opportunity for a mental reset, but I wouldn't expect a life-changing experience if your issues tend to be "treatment resistant".

Iā€™ve been to both the inpatient hospital 3 times and have gotten outpatient services at Harding as well. Harding has been so helpful to me and the overall inpatient experience is infinitely better than other hospitals in Columbus. Iā€™ve done an IOP program through here, currently get counseling and psychiatry services here, and am starting TMS here today. Everyone has been amazing, they know what theyā€™re doing, they treat me very well, and I know i wouldnā€™t be alive today if it wasnt for their help. Both the staff and the therapy services here are top notch and everything is up to date and well organized. I have been to hospitals that always ā€œforgetā€ to hold therapy groups on the inpatient side and they have done a disservice to me due to that. Harding is always on top of making sure groups are regular and are actually helpful to patients.

They abused my 18 year old sister and made her have 2 seizures, they sent her to the emergency room without telling anyone what happened to her ā€¦. Days before that my sister had told my grandma that they kept giving her pills and they dragged her and was slamming her. Once we were able to see her at the emergency room her knees were bruised badly she had knots on them her hands were swollen with blood clots all on her finger nails and she could barley talkā€¦ they was lying about examining her she never got any exams done while she was there which was about 1-2 days we couldnā€™t visit her the day before she had the seizures as well. The people who answer the phones are very rude so is the workers who bring the patients food. They also over medicated her to the point where her pupils were dilated and we later found that out when we got to the emergency room as well. Thereā€™s a lot more they did but please donā€™t send any of your loved ones here.

The staff during my stay for the most part were absolutely awesome!!. Ian, Diane, Ande, Ashley, Anthony, Kim (5th floor) are ones that stuck out to me in particular as really there to help us patients, and really caring (I know I'm forgetting some names here, truly there were a lot of great staff and OSU is lucky). I had a social worker covering for who should've been caring for me and I'm extremely unhappy with that person, I was told her name was Rebecca, because of her I was forced to stay an extra day from when I was told I'd be discharged for no reason other than she wanted a conference call with my fiance and didn't have time Monday!!. She contacted my fiance without having even met me, she never introduced herself to me, but decided I wasn't going home when I was supposed to, when I was told I would be going home by both my psychiatrists for two days. I contacted the patient advocate and never got any response! More importantly - ** This facility isn't a residential facility, people shouldn't ever stay longer than a week because the facility isn't set up for longer care. Please do not send your family member/loved one there if you feel they need long term or residential care, care beyond a few days! ** ***There are no therapies!*** There is zero one on one therapy!*** There was maybe one or two groups a day but they were very short (20 minutes or less!) and we often weren't even told, my last two days I wasn't told about them and missed them! I was thankfully only there 5 days. There is no sunshine, no outside, no fresh air, no exercise. A 21yr old special needs man has been there for FOUR MONTHS, hasn't gotten to even feel the sun on his skin!! HOW is this good mental healthcare? Locked in a building for months, actually in one small area of one floor of the building for months! No windows even let in direct sunlight!!! He deserves fresh air and sunshine and I think it's abusive what's happening to him! I pray for him and my heart breaks for him being locked in there SO long, it's abuse. Harding, please make necessary changes if you want to keep people longer than a week, it's mental health we are talking about. Have groups, have one on one therapy, have the ability to feel sun and breath fresh air and get outdoors for these people if you're going to keep them for weeks or months at a time!!! Thankfully my stay was short, but just the one extra day made my depression worse and I had a severe panic attack because I was trapped there an additional day FOR NO REASON! I simply cannot imagine how it is for people like this young man or a woman I met, who has been there over three weeks, is suffering tremendously and could just use a break outside in the sunshine and maybe a cigarette, the amount that would lift her spirits in her current state is a lot. She tried using the spray deodorant to cut herself, she's in tremendous mental pain, and she's trapped with no therapy, no exercise, no fresh air or sunshine. Their progress is being stunted and their mental health harmed at this point because of the lack of services available to patients. I expected better from OSU and I hope this is seen, taken seriously, and a team is put together to help create a better and more uplifting patient experience! Harding, you have some excellent staff and they all agreed on these points when we spoke on them during my stay. They know the setup becomes harmful instead of helpful when people are forced to stay too long but feel they have no power to change things. It's boredom to the point of insanity. It's patients acting up, acting out because they have nothing else to do, they go literally stir crazy! It's more like a daycare center than a mental health hospital, except even most daycares get the kids outside! This simply isn't a therapeutic setting and should only be very short term stabilization unless Harding makes some MAJOR changes to provide more appropriate care. I plan to find where to express my concerns more effectively but thought I'd start here. These are people's lives, Harding isn't properly caring for them.

They can only keep you against your will for 72 hours And you do have the right to refuse any kind of medication I visited a friend who was in the place and my impression was if they think you can be bullied they will lie and tell the patient you have no rights I stood up to them and they let my friend go after 24 hours These places are nothing but torture centers who will pick on any one they think is weak

Man the stories I could tell you. Briefly: I was in there at the age of 12 in 1975, when it was called Upham Hall. They really didnā€™t really care about us ā€˜troubledā€™ kids on 3 West then. If you acted up, you went to a little room which was cold. They handed you a phone book to tear to pieces to ā€˜destressā€™ you. Phone books were quite thick so it took hours before you could come out. There were many other things that I remember but wonā€™t get into here. I am just about 60 now and have never forgot this place. I am haunted to this day about things there. By the way, I was sent there for three months just before Christmas and was not allowed phone calls, visitors, nothing because I was new and Level 0. Thatā€™s where I spent Christmas. I was considered troubled because I didnā€™t listen at school, either didnā€™t do my homework, or did it badly, didnā€™t want friends, little things like that. I still donā€™t understand why I was sent there. Pretty scary for a 12 year old. I still remember what other kids in there, as well as some of the counselors looked like, and even a few of their names. This all still upsets me sometimes to this day. I know this really has nothing to do with what that place is now and how things are done these days, but sometimes it does help to talk about this.

I have a long history with Harding and very little of it was good. I first went to this hospital when I was 14 or 15 in 2000 and within less than 72 hours was given a diagnosis that followed me for the next 20+ years, yet never knew about said diagnosis until an inpatient admission in 2016. Also during the first admission I was thrown in the calming room with nothing more than a pillow for mentioning I was experiencing intrusive self harm thoughts with no actual attempt observed or completed. During the 2016 admission where I was displaying clear and obvious signs of PTSD following a profound trauma, this diagnosis continued to follow me and biased my care. I ran into this issue again in 2020 when I entered into a PHP program after another major and ongoing traumatic experience where I was placed in a group with another pt ā€œbecause we shared the same diagnosisā€. In this PHP I was quickly labeled as problematic, my knowledge as a mental health professional was completely disregarded, I was told I was an addict by someone who spent 20 minutes with me, and I frankly felt that the gravity of the situation I was currently experiencing was significantly downplayed in addition to being invalidated. In addition to this my 5 PRIOR ADULT ADHD DIAGNOSIS were completely disregarded and I was repeatedly denied meds and specialized treatment despite presenting substantial medical documentation spanning 15+ years. In addition to this I was provided increasingly higher does of an antidepressant that made me so anxious I would pace and sent me to the ER with stomach cramps. Never at any time was I ever offered a genesite test to determine if this was the best for me (a subsequent test showed that this med along with other SSRIs and most SNRIs should not have been prescribed). After leaving the PHP I did treatment at the STAR trauma center. While the therapy was fine given the level of distress I was in at the time, the NP I saw was rude, arrogant and dismissive. Again I asked for someone to acknowledge my ADHD diagnosis and prescribe meds as I gathered even more medical records proving the need for this intervention. I saw this man for 4+ months and every month he said we would see about the ADHD meds. After 4 months of waiting he finally suspected ADHD, but told me I would need to undergo a full neuropsychology evaluation despite a long waitlist and OSU refusing to give an ADHD diagnosis to adults over the age of 30. In addition to this, the provider refused to sign off on a genesite test and continued to prescribe meds that made me sick. After becoming increasingly frustrated with the process I left OSU and went to a different provider who quickly got me in for ADHD testing and did a genesite exam on the intake visit. After taking the meds recommended by the genesite exam and seeing a provider who actually listened to me my symptoms improved. While the new providers process for obtaining ADHD meds was cumbersome, I was finally able to have my 6th adult ADHD diagnosis confirmed and get prescribed the same meds I took for most of my young adult years. The way I was treated at Harding over a period of 20+ years between the providers poor clinical judgement, a fixation and propagation of stigmatizing stereotypes regarding those with a specific diagnosis, correct or not, a complete lack of understanding and invalidation of those with complex trauma, and a complete refusal to even acknowledge that adult ADHD exists, let alone an understanding of how these symptoms present in women, was downright appalling. As a licensed mental health professional myself I cannot, in good faith, recommend that any receive treatment here, especially those who are nuerodivergent and/or have experienced complex trauma.

Can I give negative stars? Awful staff all around! Treat you like a dog...not a human. Horrible from the docs to the nurses to the pcas to the custodians and security trumps them all! Not to mention the horrible process to get there...3 days in the ER with no bed, nurses yelling at all hours, no food, security threatening patients and wanting to fight while lying! Nobody really cares at OSU. Nobody!!! Your better off hanging yourself then going to OSU hospital! BTW..patient experience really has no power...there's a nurses union and doctors won't get fired...they won't change anything. Been complaining for years about OSU and still the same old dump of a hospital! addition after OSU REPLY Dear OSU (owner): I requested a patient rights advocate SEVERAL times while both in the ER AND HARDING. Nobody ever came... the nurses and doctors didn't listen to me and didn't care about my treatment. I'm not going to waste our time explaining every detail again to someone who WORKS for OSU! OSU HOSPITAL IS HORRIBLE....This is not for OSU use...its for the patients who are thinking about getting treated here...don't do it... you've been warned!

Some of the staff on the 4th floor really aren't trained to deal with personality disorders or dissociative disorders. Beth in particular treated my alters particularly horrible when we were forcibly outed to her by our occupational therapist. The social worker, Jimmy, however, treated us really well in regards to this, possibly because he's actually seen other cases. Jimmy stopped by the 4th floor every day at 8:30 am, 2:00 pm, and then at around 3:00 to bring us rewards for completing the day's activities. The main reason I'm giving Harding 4 stars though is that they connected me with Charlie Health, which honestly saved my life and my family relationships. Definitely recommend, if only for the aftercare services.

Abuse of a disabled man took place here on 4/14/2022. No staff upheld their DUTY TO REPORT such as Eric Johnson LISW or Amber Aerowood NP. These are licensure violations. The man had a court hearing the next day 4/15/2022 and they and Attorney Harry Panitch lied to Probate that the man declined right to appear. Panitch knew of the disabled manā€™s concern for why he was not allowed to attend his hearing and the abuse as the lady in the courtroom told him while the mother of the victim remained on the line. Harry never called back or followed up. Probate was notified and sent a new Atty to speak with the man in efforts to get a new hearing but magically OSU HARDING plot to kidnap and continue to abuse, neglect and retaliate against the man lessened when MEDICARE got word and the court itself. Amber Aerowood NP had just said two days prior that they were going to file to keep the man and force meds, but what do you know? Once the public and the complaints started rolling in and eyes on em, he was SUDDENLY cured and ready for discharge. This place needs investigated and all staff involved and/or witness the abuse of the patient on 4/14/2022 need FIRED & CHARGED

Iā€™m grateful for my experience I had, ever since I left I havenā€™t been experiencing the feeling of stress, Iā€™ve been feeling either normal or happy and excited, going to sleep isnā€™t even a challenge for me anymore, Iā€™ve learned to not let things change my mood and not to let my mood control me, I laugh a lot now too, Iā€™m more vocal & confident. Too all the staff, therapist & doctors I hope god blesses you, you all were extremely funny, helpful, thoughtful, professional! Caring, & honest. I couldnā€™t of asked for a better experience

For context: I was on the 2nd floor. I have been to several other hospitals in the Columbus area, and this is my ā€œfavoriteā€ (as weird as it is to pick a ā€œfavoriteā€ mental hospital). Firstly, they provide Samsung tablets that you can use in the evenings. Never had another place do that. They also allow you to order meals in advance, instead of just giving you whatever is on the menu (important if you have sensory needs/food anxiety, as I do). They also actively involved me in the discharge planning process, and listened to what I had to say. They actually valued my input and treated me like a human being. So I would say I was pleased with my stay here.

I have had a hairy history with OSU Harding Hospital. Years ago, I was seeing a psychiatrist (Divya Khosla) at Harding for addressing my depression. One week, I ran out of antidepressants and began to have a manic episode where I was high energy, super confident, and happy. How terrible, right? Divya was concerned by this and asked if I had taken anything new to which I replied "nootropics". She had never heard of nootropics before but, after a 2-minute Google search (I exaggerate not), she concluded it was the nootropics that was causing the episode. She then gave me an ultimatum: stop taking nootropics or she would discontinue my antidepressants. I refused, of course, and decided I no longer wished to see her due to her rash decision making. She then proceeded to get me banned from OSU Harding Hospital ad infinitum. For over three years I could not get help for my depression because I had literally been blacklisted by merely not responding to Divya. After consulting with a patient advocate (Jason Coale), I was finally removed from the blacklist, which, he admitted, should have never happened. Upon being readmitted, I got on new antidepressants which, like all others, did not help. Then I sought out ketamine treatment and got admitted to the clinic at Harding. Unfortunately, it did not help either. During treatment, I did not receive any bills, but about a month after treatment concluded I was hit with a near $4000 bill. NOT ONCE was I informed of the cost incurred by the treatment. Staff consistently told me the medication (Spravato) was "covered by insurance". What is worse, the company that sells Spravato has a savings program for patients where one could pay as little as $10 per nasal spray, which costs $4774.70 before insurance. Nobody informed me of the savings program and I only learned about it after this mess. Dr. Subhdeep Virk manages the ketamine clinic at OSU Harding Hospital and should feel utterly ashamed for this negligence. I am a graduate student who, like all graduate students, does not make much money. Had I known the cost of the ketamine treatments, I would have NEVER done them. Always always alway ask about the cost of treatment, request estimates, and check with your insurance prior to starting treatment. If you think staff at Harding feels some moral imperative to be transparent about costs or savings programs, think again. By being opaque about these things, OSU Harding Hospital has placed a financial burden on me and, ironically, worsened my depression.

The Harding IOP/PHP program saved my life and my relationships. My life and mind set significantly improved over the course of my time there and the results are evident. Iā€™d recommend them to anybody and strongly encourage anyone thinking about the program to give it a shot. Itā€™s hard work and there will be difficult and exhausting days but itā€™s well worth it. Again, canā€™t thank this place enough for what theyā€™ve done for me. I canā€™t speak to how inpatient treatment is since Iā€™ve never done it but from my understanding it is informative and Iā€™ve heard good things from friends.

I wish that they could make it easier to get refills for psych meds. Those dealing with mental health issues are often not the greatest at remembering to send emails and/or make phone calls.
