This morning I went through an awful experience that most people have not or will never have to deal with. On top of going through it!!!I dealt with the most unconcerned, heartless, un compassionate human beings I have ever encountered! For those of you who know mount. Carmel east. In Columbus Ohio they are complete garbage! Staff was rude and thought it was okay to make comments about my situation and loud enough for me to hear them. They didn’t get me a room I was in front of nurses station on a gurney with no privacy. I asked for a cup of water and the charge nurse told the other nurse I couldn’t have one because it was me asking for it??? I got placed in a room that hadn’t been used for a long long time everything was outdated and all they wanted to do was run an IV and get me to surgery. No one was offering any information about anything. So I checked my self out. I’m calling their corporate office because this needs to be brought to light. As a health care professional regardless of the state or physical appearance of the patient the main focus should ALWAYS be the PATIENTS health!! I’m very disappointed in their overall lack of compassion, and competency!! Do better#mountcarmeleast!!!! Im also contacting the board of physician, and board of nursing!! I’d like to get a list of all of the people who was involved in caring for me. Why did it take 3 ladies and a doctor to come ask me what was going on and where I was feeling pain? I want answers. Nothing about this visit was entertaining for me!!! I felt like I was on display as a joke!!

Would rate it zero if possible. I was in the ER for 5 hours tonight. They left people in the waiting room who couldn’t breathe and one person who came in by ambulance, who obviously needed help. I was in a lot of pain. The tests were done and then nothing. I had to throw a fit for them to take my IV out and my discharge papers. I was told with my problem, I didn’t give my stomach pain any time to see if it was appendicitis. Rude Rude. I would rather risk bleeding out going to OSU then ever step foot in this hospital again. Edit: they sent me home saying there was nothing wrong. I read the report last night. The CT literally says I have a hernia 😒

Never EVER again. My daughter went here for emergency care. They didn't bill it correctly, and it was rejected by her insurance. My daughter has had to jump through numerous hoops to take care of her medical bill. She was finally found eligible for extra assistance, and as soon as she was, they sent her bill to collections. Nasty, unethical, disgusting hospital. Stay away from this place.

Mount Carmel East Hospital is a full service hospital complete with an advanced Emergency Department, and Cardiac Catheterization Lab. I truly wish I could give this place a higher rating, but there is such a high level of “kick-the-dog” mentality and scapegoating among the staff, that it undermines public confidence in their ability to provide expert, high quality patient care. Very sad… everyone seems to be so stressed, that they try to make the lives of those below them worse and more stressful and miserable than their own. Very unhealthy environment. I’ve never worked there, but have witnessed it on repeated occasions.

If I could give a zero I WOULD! I am about to pull my husband out of this hospital. The lies the nurses say, no wonder why we have a 2.3 star review. This place should be shut down! No compassion and literally had a nurse tell us that they too busy to do something for my husband! And his IV was leaking everywhere, they just don't want to do their jobs. Never should take a nurse an hour and a half to answer a call button. Unexcusable!!!!

When I tell you I have never made a bad review anywhere! February 7, 2023 approximately around 4:00pm I went to get checked in the ER for infection after osteoma removal. The RN was a guy. I told him why I was there. He proceeded to ask me a lot of background information. I told him Im new to Ohio everything should be in the system. He told me no it’s not and laughed. Me sitting here scared far way from family with an infection in my head. Check me in! Then I had to think about it. He never told me to put my social security number in. Why is you asking me these questions if my information wasn’t never pulled up. I ask his colleague can she help check me in please she just stared at me and didn’t even intervene to help the hostel situation. This hospital is a joke please go somewhere else. I’m not speaking for the doctors but that RN is not to be trusted. Your job is to take care of people not make their serious situation a joke! Update: I was right I got an infection. Mount Carmel on Cleveland is the best one they treated me so good. I cried so hard because that infection could have spread!

If I could give a 0 I would. Worst ER in the city of Columbus. I guess coming to ER in the Ambulance doesn’t make a difference. I came in around 12 and I am still here. No one have any Information when I will be seen. I was supposed to get blood work nurse could not draw blood from me so she stuck me back In waiting room. I should have went to Ohio Health.

This place deserves ZERO stars. Worst I have ever encountered. My grandfather was there this month for 10 days and they traumatized this man. He was neglected!! He suffered a stroke and he lost most of his speech and had right side weakness. He tested positive for covid, asymptomatic, but of course the family couldn't see him. They didn't bath him until the 10th day, when he was transferring to a rehab facility. The nurses wouldn't answer his call light, or just shut it off. Sometimes they tried to understand what he wanted, but if they couldn't, just left him. They once sat him in a chair for 3 hours, and wouldn't answer his call light or he didn't have it. Didn't get the therapy he needed to help his recovery. We feel they took total advantage of him not being able to talk or have visitors. This is shameful and I don't know how these people sleep at night!

The outpatient lab SUCKS. The site states that the lab is open until 6:30. I drove from work early, over 30miles away here to get lab work done. I arrived at 6:19 to have blood drawn. The guy at the desk was watching videos and made an Audible sigh when I approached the desk out of breath from running from the parking lot. I explained to him that I work 6a-6p 6 days a week and tried to rush here as fast as I could. He said that they just sent someone else down and it was “too late” with a rude tone and attitude. He attempted to call the lab, let it ring twice and hung up stating that I wouldn’t be seen. At 6:21. I spoke to someone at the lab number this morning that morning that stated the lab was open until 6:30 and would take people up until that time. I am disappointed and disgusted at the treatment I received and it was apparent I was interrupting this guys YouTube videos and he did not want to see any patients, only wanted to watch videos and go home. I wasted over 30miles worth of gas, and over 30minutes of my time coming here, and will now not have the testing I need for my primary care doctor appointment. Thanks mount Carmel.

My loved one was admitted in the hospital. He had many complications kidney problem, heart problem, multiple strokes lungs issues. Staying in ICU cause pressure injuries. wounds on the back. That need care. I received letter from insurance and it said that he don’t need wound care or heart care or kidney care in a long term care hospital. He is also on vent and have feeding tube in stomach. Without my permission and consent they send him to a nursing facility capital city garden. Know we are in the facility. I just sleep 3 hours in my car in 24 hours in front of the facility. I m buying wounds cream. I m buying surgical dressing. I m checking his tube feed. I m doing suction of ventilator. I don’t know what will happen to my health in next few weeks or month. there is a lot more to say which is meaning less. If any Asian or foreigners reading this comment. I have to tell you one thing please listen to my words. If your parents ever get sick immediately take them back home. Don’t wait till the last moment because what American system will do with your loved one you cannot handle that. I m going through a worse kind of depression. I m just praying to ALLAH that make is easy for me. What insurance and mount Carmel doctors and case manager did with us. I m cursing myself. No words. This country is good only for American. I have a lot more to say but I don’t want to here. Just one thing every good facility of health in this country is only of American. So Asian and foreigners if any thing happen to your parents take them back home.

This place just draws your blood and insurance money. My dad came to the hospital as an emergency patient for chest pain at 6:30 am. They transferred him to this location from the one at Taylor road emergency location at 12:30 pm the previous day. When he arrived here he was left on an emergency room without food and water until 9 pm. They gave him a small slice of turkey and a cup of water at 9:30 pm when only after I called them. I asked them 200 times if I can bring him food and they said no they will feeed him heart healthy diet. The next day he was supposed to go through a test and wasn’t informed if he could drink or eat. I had a cup of tea for him in the morning. Left it on his tray and went to ask the nurse if he can drink tea. They said no. He had a sip on his mouth and spit it back to the cup. I explained the same thing to them and they canceled the appointment. 2 days of work for two people, $200 co-pay and thousands of insurance money for nothing now. Worst place to go as a patient🤬🤬🤬🤬

I wish I could give zero Stars I was admitted yesterday for inflammation and infection of my colon and my intestines. The doctor Stacy Israel came in and proceeded to yell at me for being there telling me that I had no right to be there (I sure didn't admit myself) and then she told me I needed to go somewhere else and find a doctor my magnesium is very low. I demanded another doctor as that is my right and she told me no and then walked out of the room telling me that I was a joke and I didn't need to be there. Again I sure didn't admit myself. I have already made complaints and I'm going all the way to the Ohio board of health. You don't yell at a patient for being there when they were admitted. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

The staff are nice but the service and care were terrible for my buddy. I took a friend of mine in because he was having a stroke he hit on all the symptoms and signs and yet with only 5 others in the waiting room whom got there after us they got their help while my friend continued to suffer for over an hour and a half before he finally got called back. Unfortunately he didn't get seen as he figured he'd be better off going to a real drs office. The entire time he was feeling as though the staff had no care for him because he had to sit for over an hour wondering if he was gonna be able to get his stroke fixed. Wouldn't go here unless you plan on attending someones funeral.

first of all, this one nurse was really disrespectful, while she was taking my IV out, she thought it’d be a good idea not do it properly and I had blood dripping from my arm. Then she got a tape, like a school material and taped a tissue paper and the tape together. I waited in that hospital for 4 hours straight and i get that type of treatment. Not acceptable.

My 93-year old mother entered the hospital through emergency after passing out on the sofa and suffering abdominal pain. Mt Carmel is the closest so of course that were the technicians take her. Never again if I can help it. Several times my mother needed assistance to go to the bathroom and waited for 30-40 minutes for anyone could responded. The time I was there the same thing happened and the nurse attending was sitting at the reception desk laughing with the other ladies. She only has four patients to watch after. Mom was there for a day and after numerous tests the doc said there was nothing wrong. This is the 3rd visit here in three months. Same response each time no mater what the ailment. I said keep looking I am done wasting our time here. two days later they were still only guessing. Prior to release I asked for an evaluation for physical therapy. The evaluator came later that day, spent 30 minutes with her and informed us that she needed physical therapy for mobility and balance. I reiterated this to the patient advocate, the nurse and the doctor. I was told they would set it up and follow-up later. A week later, no calls. I left a message with the hospital physical therapy office. Three days later and they told me there was no record of the therapy. I called the nurse on that floor on that wing. No record. They said they could do nothing and told me to call her general practitioner. What the hell people. I am sure there are good people there. maybe some training is in order or maybe even supervision.

Just read the reviews. Better yet just look at the overall rating and save yourself some time. GO TO THE JAMES!! Get respected, and treated like a human. Avoid this place!! ICU night nurses won't even answer your call. Left me on hold for 74 minutes before I finally just hung up. Guess I'll have to wait until visiting hours to check on my daughter.

I was recently discharged from Mount Carmel (East) following inpatient treatment. I will not be disclosing the cause of the hospitalization, but please note that the diagnosis required interactions with multiple departments within the hospital. Simply put, the staff and services provided by Mount Carmel was nothing short of SUPERB!!! From the moment I stepped into the Emergency Department through discharge, I felt that my care and well being were the staff’s number one priority. My concerns were validated and I was treated like a person experiencing medical concerns versus a diagnosis (eg, the “cancer patient”). All staff members I encountered were professional and personable, which went a long way in ensuring my needs were met through each phase of my stay. This includes the Technicians, Nurses, and Physicians who thoroughly explained what brought me to the hospital, the diagnostics, the treatment, and aftercare. In addition, the support staff (Transport, Nutrition, Logistics, and Housekeeping) were attentive and dedicated to providing exceptional comfort measures. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't note that the facilities were well appointed and exceptionally clean. I’m an Air Force retiree with 27+ years of active service and I’ve been treated in numerous medical treatment facilities worldwide, both military and civilian. Without hesitation, I’d count my encounter with Mount Carmel among the highest rated experiences I’ve ever had in receiving medical treatment. In addition to the customer care measures described above, the technical treatment was beyond world class and exceeded my expectations. My family and I are grateful for the Mount Carmel Team. Please keep up the great work! Sincerely, Bo

I went to the ER in crisis on 10/12/22 with hypervitaminosis d. I explained my condition to the staff multiple times. I was begging for IV fluids and steroids. After seeing my vitamin d levels on my chart (labs done on Monday 10/12) they refused to help me. Not only did the not check my current levels, I was told "we don't treat that here". Hypervitaminosis d can cause kidney failure, liver failure and heart failure (I also have afib). While I realize my labs didn't indicate this at that time, I feel like I was neglected by the Dr. and the staff. After 8 hrs of back and stabbing pain in my limbs, rash, nausea, I was ultimately given 2 Tylenol, a prescription for muscle relaxers and a glass of water. Still in crisis. Still in pain. Thank God I was able to see my family Dr. yesterday. He gave me shots in my back, a round of steroids, anti-inflammatory pain medication, but mostly care and compassion. He hadn't yet seen my most recent result and wasn't made aware of a voicemail I left on Tuesday. My overall impression? I should have been given IV fluids and steroids. I also feel I should have been admitted. Shout out to my nurse Lindsay, the ONLY person that treated me with kindness. Thank you so much. Mt. Carmel - I will be expecting a call or a letter of apology. But I won't hold my breath. Shame on you! Cynthia Barlup

Honestly wouldn’t go back here even if I was in labor. I was crying in pain on the floor of the waiting room and they refused to give me any meds until a room opened up. One of the nurses said I was “making things difficult” because of how much pain I was in. I also was non stop vomiting and everyone in the waiting room was staring at me, obviously concerned for their own health. Once I got a room, the nurses were much nicer, but still this is the most disorganized ER I have ever ever been to. I wouldn’t go here even if I was dying on the street- DO NOT COME. They do not know how to treat patients and do not care about your well being. I cannot stress this enough- as someone with chronic conditions I have been to plenty of places, this was the worst BY FAR. should be shut down. I even took out MY OWN IV after waiting and asking multiple nurses due to the pain. (My IV was not placed correctly, all of the fluid built up in my upper arm instead of in my veins) As for the kind nurse who gave me a charger to use, and the doctor who listened to me, this review is not for you!! Just for the people in triage and waiting- I really don’t think they have an ounce of empathy down there

I went in with pain in my chest, back, shoulder, neck, and arm on my left side. Emergency room was quick and efficient did an ekg, chest X-ray, called for a stroke consultant to check for that with a CT scan and an MRI.I did ask in the ER about papers for medical assistance through HCAP and told I would receive them but that never happened I asked about them when I was released but was told that social service doesn't work on the weekend When they couldn't find anything they made me go through another X-ray of my left shoulder another CT of my neck and another MRI of my neck and spine. I repeatedly told them I was not a diabetic but they continued to do finger sticks and having insulin ready, to no avail, because my blood sugar results were always normal. I am guessing so that they could just charge me more money. They tried to give me laxitives when constipation was never an issue, They told me on my second day that I should be able to leave after my echocardiogram and second MRI but I didn't get the MRI until after 8:30PM so I had to spend another night to wait for the doctor who was not pleasant and didn't even look me in the eye who told me they found nothing here's some oxycodone for you to take at home. The technicians, transports, most of nurses, and the neurologist were very nice although a few of them need lessons in drawing blood. That is why I gave it a 2. My bed was never changed and I was never just given a clean gown.

So I just stayed here for 4 days due to pancreatitis and I’ll say a few things. The emergency room was slammed, I was screaming in pain and hit my call light and wasn’t answered for over 30 minutes. The surgery team was awesome. They were so on top of everything, shout out to dr. Miller who treated me so well his team always checked on me everyday leading up to surgery. As for being admitted… sometimes I would go 30-50 minutes before my call to a nurse was answered. They didn’t keep up with my pain meds well and that kinda sucked because pancreatitis is extremely painful. They seem VERY short staffed and the nurses are very overworked. To be honest, I felt really bad for them. The stress showed. I do want to mention however Charles on floor 5 was the BEST nurse I have ever had in my life. He was so attentive and caring, always went out of his way and is just great at what he does.

There are a few good nurses I.have been in contact with but policy and procedures are out. No communication empathy shown for your loved one or family member caring for them. Maybe it's the 12 hour shifts idk.but poor bedside manners for most part. Cindy and Jessie are the only two I can say I wanted to leave my love one with. Praying hard.😟💕🙏

I have spent 3 full days at Mt. Carmel East, and almost everything exceeded my needs and expectations. The nursing staff were superb, especially Cherokee and and Kelsie. I was treated like an absolute queen by everyone, except one person. Every nurse, tech, nutritional, and janitorial staff member was so sweet and respectful. The doctor who came to see me in the ER(OB/GYN) was very unprofessional and non informative. I was having problems in that area of the body too. Three other doctors came by to check on me, but he did not, not once. He was the only problem I had. He left me hanging without information, and let me have anxiety the entire time. When the "C" word is mentioned, there is anxiety...he did not care at all. I'm not a young woman, and I don't like telling someone that they should retire, but he really needs to. His bedside manner lacks on every level, and his professionalism is non-existent.

I’m the middle of the night I went into labor at 37 weeks. I had planned to be induced at a different hospital but went to East as it is closer to my house. The nurses were all wonderful but a BIG compliment to Gemma who was my nurse during delivery! She was SO wonderful and encouraging! she did all she could to keep me comfortable and pain free! She was thorough when talking to my OB and she was SO wonderful during my whole time there. Every nurse, assistant, and food personal were wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you for making my delivery so wonderful!!

Hands down this place is the WORSE hospital in Columbus. I have stomach ulcer, after a few days in the hospital i started feelin a little better but then another day pass and i started getting unbearable pain again, so i tell the nurse she's in the hallway telling other nurse's that she thought i was lying and i overhear it. I talk to nurse in charge didn't get anywhere she was just as bad as the other nurses and my doctor was told by the nurses i seemed fine. The doctor totally ignores me. They had to transfer me to Mount carmel West for a different issue and never did ANYTHING about me saying i'm getting this unbearable pain. I get to Mount Carmel West and by the next morning i vomiting blood my pain was 10/10 and they do a few test and i had Peritonitis. I could've died. I have a lot of respect for nurses i have a niece and daughter that are both nurses, and nurse save us, not the doctors, sometimes you don't see or talk to your doctor when your there for days. After that IDGAF if i'm dying no one is allowed to take me to Mount Carmel East. Worse part this wasn't the first time the misdiagnosed me. To be a nurse you have to care about people, y'all swear to do no harm! Don't go here, don't take your kids or anyone you love!!

I am so disappointed in this place and they should not be allowed to care for human beings. I am 12 weeks pregnant and was experiencing bleeding and this is my first pregnancy. The first person I called was very short with me and left me to figure out what I needed. No sort of guidance. She transferred my call to one of their unit coordinators and he was very short with me and rude and showed no form of concern. I asked him to provide me his name and he would t. I told him to get me someone that I could speak to and he transferred my call to someone by the name of Britney. She didn’t apologize to me for his behavior or my experience and brushed off my complaint. I felt very disrespected. I wouldn’t set my foot in this place and I told her just that. Useless.

Sat in the waiting area for 4 hours and that wasn't the problem. As we were waiting, I noticed how all the white people were being called back, while the black/other race's were being skipped over, regardless of who was there first or the severity of their health issues 🤔 I recorded a video and shared it online. The feed back from the other races is impeccable and overwhelming. I will never return to this place again...geesh I thought Grant was bad.. colorism is bad

Very disappointed with visitation rules at this hospital. My daughter had our first grandchild so my wife and I want to see him, and we were told only one of us to visit since my daughter’s husband is considered a guest . I got left in the waiting room. To make matters worse. The guest have to remain the same through my daughters stay. This policy is ridiculous and insensitive. .I understand the need to reduce the spread of Covid-19 but I don’t understand how I am let up to 4th floor, but not the few feet to see my grandchild. Not even a window to get a view!

I went here about 8 months ago and a lot of the staff were nice. I was in ICU on my birthday and the people watching me at the time cut out letters and had on the wall “happy birthday sara” it was so sweet and I cried. After that, I had sitters with me while I recovered and they would help me drink water. One of the sitters I had was a night shift sitter and he was terrible. I couldn’t speak, due to the issues I was having at the time and wanted water. He just sat there on his phone, watching YouTube. He didn’t give it and I’m not sure if it’s because it was night time but every time id try to get his attention, hed grab my hand very tightly to keep me still or dig his nails into my fingers. I don’t know what his name was but I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

My elderly mother was transported from our local hospital to Mt Carmel due to a traumatic injury after she fell and suffered double jaw fractures. Nobody in our family was satisfied with the care she received. They gave her a turkey sandwich to eat with a broken jaw! A physician assistant told her that she wasn’t hurt bad enough to consider her fractures an emergency and sent her home Friday evening to wait until a plastic surgeon’s office would be open for an evaluation. Hustle may be gone but that hospital still has lots of problems. We will never go there again. I wish I could give a lower score than one star.

My grandfather came to this hospital where he was diagnosed with blood clots and both lungs a few months ago not only did they do nothing for him they were supposed to call him back in via one of the doctors and that never happened!! The way he explained how he was treated by the nurses is disgusting, the ER needs to be under review.

You will die before anyone cares for you. Er staff is so rude and dirty. Er waiting room is filthy so was the triage. Said something about the blood stain on table was told it doesn't clean off. So they think that is better than getting one that is clean (blood born pathogens don't matter to them i guess). I will be dropping my heart doctor, personal physician and orthopedic doc who all work for mount carmel. I will find better ones at ohio health or osu. Worst experience agian. Thanks for nothing agian last time I had to get a triple bypass this time I could die.

I want to first say that none of the nurses were bad, but I do want to recognize Louisa for her absolutely amazing care I received from her. She made you feel at home and was amazing with her health care. I don't know if you guys have any type of program that recognizes positive impact the people do, but if you do she deserves acknowledgment for being absolutely amazing. Even before I got to the floor when I was admitted, the emergency room was absolutely amazing as well.

I had to take my mom to the ER and was there for hours but what do you expect on a Saturday evening. I just want to commend the ER staff for having to deal with A LOT and have to take A LOT! The staff was pleasant and welcoming they did what they needed to do to treat my mom and we were discharged. Thank you!!!
